Because you bully him so often, please say some nice things about the Master of Secrets. 🤭
OH, THIS IS EASY ACTUALLY
I BULLY HIM BECAUSE I LIKE HIM!
This isn't grade school sort of "haha I'm pulling your hair because I have a crush on you", this is very much "I want to understand you from every angle and faucet, you are fascinating to me, what is your DEAL"
Like okay. Flannán? To me, he is very much a very comfortable coat, I've had this coat for years, and it keeps me warm no matter what, I can always rely on this coat, Flannán mac Lugh is a character archetype I know and love dearly. I may not know every detail about him, but I know enough that is comfortable and it brings me back to him constantly. I know him in a way that feels intimate, even without all the details in place.
Keagan? I know this guy too. He's Jumin Han spliced with David Xanatos (which, yes, this specific association, with Xanatos, is one of the highest compliments I can give Keagan, dear anon, because it's David Motherfucking Xanatos) by way of Mister Miracle (2017) (warning: suicide discussion, gore, blood, unreality) in that Keagan has a lot of potentials, as a narrative arc, to go into a lot of fascinating and phenomenal questions. And, in spite of all of this familiarity, in seeing his face in different people, in seeing different I know completely people in him...I don't actually fully know him in a way that feels...complete.
Hence why I constantly propose putting him in numerous different scenarios that are tortuous for him, but also why I pair him with an MC who is, potentially, exactly what he needs: I want to unlock the puzzle box. Because I do like him.
Moirai Myths Presents... Keagan Máistirúin, voiced by Will de Renzy-Martin!
Did you enjoy this sample of Keagan? If you help us achieve our Kickstarter goals, Will de Renzy-Martin will return as Keagan Máistirúin in the full version of our game!
K,
I've left this somewhere that you'll find after a bit of searching (as we both know your affinity for sniffing things out). Forgive me and let me have a touch of purposeful spontaneity.
I swear on the grave of my first lamb, I forgot it was Valentine's Day. Honest. I never really had many opportunities to celebrate, understand. Too busy, but also…eh. Another story for another time. I'd need a good whiskey in me before I could get into it.
Anyroad: thanks for finding me. Means more than I'll say; no need to fill your ears full of sap.

OK I do not mean to interrupt your amazing Flannán posting but one of your tags mentioned orphaned Keagan and I am SNATCHED?! Would you mind elaborating 👀 (P.S. thank you for the Flan content, you are doing the Dagda's work 🙏)
Thank you! Flannán mac Lugh lives in my head, paying rent with serotonin, so there will be more Flan-posting (also I sincerely love the Dagda and have before I got into this game. The Dagda is gender goals)
So like. Here is the short, light version of what I call the Keagan Conspiracy Board (I have conspiracy boards for all the ROs in my head, Flannán is simply the one I have actually written and able to share)
To me, Keagan is an orphaned street kid. His biological parents are a non-factor in his life: they caused him to happen and then, for whatever reason you wish to supply, they’re not there. He lived his childhood on the streets, relying on himself and connections made with other street rats. This is a lot of where his charisma and his quick wit is born, to me, because he shows this specific kind of intelligence that you get when you’re worrying about survival day to day. He’s good at reading specific details and gutting people for them, because to most people those details are just normal every day life, but to him, he’s had those details be life and death. This is why he’s particularly sensitive and observant of staff members and treating them well: he had an urchin’s eye view to see them from the bottom up and he can use that well now that he is working from the top down.
Also if he was noble-born, Aífe would have known they grew up in the same area, because her life being groomed as the princess’s handmaiden would have required her to know every single eligible bachelor/bachelorette of the nobility. That’s like. Nobility Fluff 101, to me. And she didn’t know him until he quite literally snuck up on her during Events of Their Past. Keagan would also flex his noble heritage if he had any, because he is a smug cat-peacock griffon. He is what I like to call Pragmatic Smug (which sounds like an alignment, I know): he can and will brag if it serves a purpose (even if that purpose doesn’t seem obvious to you, he knows the purpose and that’s enough for him). The perfect opportunity to do so presented itself with the Seelie courtiers at the end of his chapter in the demo, but he doesn’t make that flex, instead defaulting to their mutual relationship with Aífe in a professional sense and vaguely (but cheerfully) implying they might be trying to kill her and He Knows Things About That. He knows the dirty secrets, he is a happy pig rolling through the mud of secrets (as much as he would DESPISE my use of that metaphor).
The way he flexes wealth at the MC in the demo (and it is at MC, not Daonna, like. I think it would be folly to believe Keagan’s front that he thinks MC is Daonna. He knows MC isn’t Daonna. He alludes to such in the tailor shop if you get sassy with him [the exact line eludes me, but the spirit of it being “you seem to have grown a sense of humor during your expedition, Daonna”]). So he sees MC, a starving peasant who looks exactly like Daonna and he’s intellectually attached to this combination sad meow meow and puzzle box because like. How does Daonna have someone who looks exactly like them? Local Keagans, addicted to secrets and the understanding thereof, are dying to know. So, I think he uses what he remembers of his history as a street kid to play to MC’s potential weaknesses: unlike Flannán, he doesn’t openly acknowledge MC starving and remark on what that must mean (and he must know what that means), but he does something nice for them: he gets them new clothes. He specifically gets MC beautiful clothes (ones he must know are beyond MC’s budget just from the rags MC wears coming in, even if MC picks the simple tunic and trousers) because I think he knows from a deeply personal place how much clothes help someone in poverty. He wants MC to turn to him and trust him, I think largely because he’s intellectually invested in the mystery of it all, and he can’t solve the mystery of MC doesn’t return to him and open up. He’s presenting himself as someone who subtly understands poverty to be their generous benefactor, if for nothing else than to have answers. Because like. This is his ONLY lead on Daonna now. This weird Daonna-look-alike. He’s gonna figure this the fuck out, by all that’s above and below, because this is what he does.
And he got good at it by growing up on the streets. Because you get really good at reading people when you have to rely on people acting a certain way so you can pickpocket them for a meal that day.
Did these bingo boards for each of the characters. To absolutely NO ONE's surprise, Flannán almost got a triple fucking bingo from me (he is my husband, my gender-envy, AND the guy I throw in the salad spinner because it's funny. Writing his perspective is actively hilarious).
Also, Aífe's board makes it seem like I do not think of her often. That is a lie. That is the fucking warlock who's shadowing my every move and humming loudly at me and then giggling about it.
The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) is now out on Steam and Itch.io, and has a Kickstarter pre-launch page! Check our pinned post for details!
Remember: If we get to 800 favourites on our Kickstarter pre-launch page, we’ll release flirty sprites for all the ROs! (Current progress: Aífe’s sprite is out! >70 until Shae!)
Did you always have the Máistirúin name, Keagan? Given that it means “Master of Secrets,” it seems more occupational than hereditary, unless the title IS hereditary family-wise…
Well, whether you answer or not, would you like to take a short break with me? I’ve prepared some baked salmon and a slice of fig tart to share… That is, unless you have urgent business to attend to? 🥺
I suppose I could tell you in exchange for such a thoughtful meal. It's true that the surname is occupational. It's no secret I was raised to nobility under King Anraí. By taking on the title as my surname, I felt I was honoring my... humble beginnings.

do you think you could add a guide on how to pronounce the characters' names in the game's lexicon? cause looking at the pronunciation guide in-game made me realize that i'm most definitely not pronouncing anyone's name correctly in my head 👉👈
We'll make a note of that! Not sure if it will be an imminent future patch, but thank you for the feedback!

Excerpt:
“Growing up, we took shelter on the same knee,” Flannán interrupted him, his voice low, “and we were nourished from the same breast. We learned how to fight in the same field of snow. You came to me for a brother’s aid, and a brother’s aid what you’ll get...even if that means I will never see you again.”
“Still though- it’s your father I’m asking you to go up against, Flan,” Lachtna replied. “This is a tall ask, even for me.”
“While my father’s ties to me are strong, built on blood, they are not the same as the bond we share.”
Say hello to Keagan, the next love interest for The Good People / Na Daoine Maithe!
“Little is known of Keagan's past — almost certainly by his own design — but what is known is that he distinguished himself during the War of the Courts as someone with a knack for intrigue and espionage. Due to this talent, he quickly scaled the ranks of the Seelie Court until he reached his current position: Máistirúin, or Master of Secrets. With his keen senses and control of the will-o-wisps, little happens in Tír na nÓg without his knowledge. If you ever need to find him, you should probably check next to the Queen of the Seelie Court, Aífe, as they are close confidants.
Keagan’s position at court likewise means he is at the centre of numerous rumours. Some whisper that he may have been involved in Aífe's crowning and the end of the War, while others allude to a past connection with a Seelie noble woman that didn't end well. Regardless, there is more beneath the surface of this mysterious man than first meets the eye. Do you dare dive in?"
