Tengoku Daimakyo is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever seen in anime. Mild spoilers in images

This scene of the doctor scrolling on a tablet & weeping underscored by the unbelievable "blue, blue sky" by Kensuke Ushio is art. It reminds me why stories are important. Tengoku Daimakyo is one of my favorite newer anime & I could go on about the trans representation of Kiruko or just the quality of its storytelling in general, but even the side stories explore humanity in deep, often devastating ways & this single moment has more to offer than most series do in their entirety.

décalcomanie,surround,echo from the liz and the blue bird soundtrack will forever be the track ever bc why is this song that is just five minutes and thirty seconds of silence except for the occasional brief and quiet sound of some single piano key or some other gently played instrument like that. why does it feel the way it feels. i know that silence says a lot and all that but i have never come across an artist who knows how to use it in the way that this guy does

Can we talk about those albums in your life that make things better?

I started getting anxiety attacks last year. I had never had them before, and didn't know what to do. The anxiety of getting an anxiety attack caused them. I'd have them in the grocery store, at home, once at my dads place.

One day, I read that sometimes immersive music can help. Well, I had ear buds and figured why the hell not. So I picked an album and decided "this is going to be the one."

Next attack rolled around and I popped in the ear buds, queued up the music, and immediately went into shock. It worked. I felt better. Not only better, I started to calm down.

I had picked the OST from my favorite movie. Not because I thiught it would work, but because I wanted an excuse to listen to it more.

If weve interacted for more than 7 minutes, I've told you to watch A Silent Voice. The movie itself is so good, but the music is perfection.

Kensuke Ushio created an absolute masterpiece. The music isnt just about being music. Its disjointed, some of the notes are off key, theres background noise. And yet it works. He said he wanted to make music that seemed like you were listening to it from the next room over, or as if a hard of hearing person were listening. And its so good. I cant express how good this album is.

Go listen to the album. Watch the movie. Be warned, its sad. It's my trigger movie for when I need to cry. But its so good.
