I know kghn is kinda a little bit dorky and stuff, but I can't help myself but draw them sweet and gentle in LOTR AU. Hinata is the only one who can be mischievous, but elf Kageyama is more mature, wise and calm (well, he was born a few hundreds of years even before Hinata's parents existed, so he grew up much better, lol). Only sometimes when Hinata acts funny or in a playfool mood, he can provoke Kageyama to open up his forgotten side and join him. Tobio is very awkward at socialising but Hinata is very sinsere and opened and that's why Tobio was touched by him, the first time in his long life he felt understood and needed, that's why he adores and appreciates Shoyo that much.

AHHHH you want me to share my headcanons of Kageyama in Italy? Well, DON'T MIND IF I DO :D

Kageyama lived with Ali Roma's assistant coach (I've always liked the name Gino, so let's go with that) for his first year in Serie A to help him integrate better. Gino's eldest son moved away to Antwerp for university so he had the spare room. A portion of Kageyama's starting salary was supposed to go to Coach Gino for his living expenses, but Gino insisted for Kageyama to use that money to buy stuff for himself instead since he brought so little when he came to Italy. In return, Kageyama helped with mowing the lawn and walking the dogs and washing the dishes. Gino had two other boys, Elio (7) and Dino (6), and they took turns harassing Kageyama into playing football with them in their backyard. Kageyama usually acquiesced if they played volleyball with him afterwards.

When he became more comfortable with the language and the people, Kageyama moved out of Gino's home during his second year, much to the family's dismay. Especially Elio and Dino---they were buzzing around Kageyama like wasps when he was straightening his luggage at the doorstep ("Are you leaving us because I kept stealing your team jackets?" Dino asked mournfully. "No," Kageyama said, totally bewildered at the children's tear-streaked faces). Little did they know that Kageyama rented an apartment so comically close to their home, just three blocks away from theirs.

One time during a match against Perugia, Kageyama had this disconcerting feeling that something was wrong with his vision. He consulted with the team's doctor, who referred him to an ophthalmologist. He found out he had a mild case of myopia (nearsightedness); it wasn't serious and he didn't need any corrective lenses, but Kageyama badgered the poor doctor with questions that the consult lasted for an hour and a half. The doctor gave him an extensive list on how to prevent it from getting worse: diet, exercise, less screentime, and loads and loads of sunshine. So now, Kageyama spent most of his free time outdoors: cycling, running, mountain climbing, reading sports monthly magazines at the park, playing pick-up games with his teammates, or walking Gino's dogs around the neighborhood. Whenever Kageyama's parents called to check on him, he was always out and about. It surprised them at first; they hadn't known their son to be the outdoor-sy type, but it did put their mind at ease. Kageyama had always been noticeably more cheerful when he's under the sun.

Beat reporters found Kageyama particularly frustrating to interview, though they weren't sure if it was a matter of his personality, his nationality, him being media-trained af by the team's comms department, or all three. Talented and an exciting player on the orange court, for sure, but outside of it he rarely had anything interesting to say. Always calm, always poised, always with the cliché responses. He was once ambushed in a family restaurant by a sports podcaster who asked for his opinion about the sudden spike in female Ali Roma fans, and Kageyama answered with a cool, "Volleyball is the greatest sport in the world. I'm glad more people are realizing that now and tuning in to our games. I'm grateful for any support the sport and our team gets, wherever it's coming from". ("Gah, he's so unaffected!" the podcaster grieved. "No girls, no scandalous rendezvous, no skeevy thoughts, no openings, nada. Zero. Zilch. Like what the hell? Is he a cyborg? It's always volleyball 100%.").

But one journalist sniffed around Kageyama's early career happenings and she managed to find something that'd generate a reaction. Compare Kageyama's stats to a certain undersized Japanese player in Brazil's Superlega, and you'd find unassailable proof that Kageyama Tobio is, indeed, human ("Yeah? And how many service aces and solo blocks does he have?" Kageyama scoffed when the reporter said his longtime rival held São Paolo's team lead in kills and total swings. "Not that many, I'm sure. Not that I watch his games anyway.").

saw a post on twitter abt tobio coming home after practice to an empty house (absent parents, kazuyo gone, miwa busy with studies) and i can't help but think that after a while he stopped announcing it when he returned. no longer would he walk in and call out an "i'm home" he'd just drop his bag by the door and head to his room or the kitchen or wherever. and maybe this routine sticks with him late into his adulthood and he ends up sharing an apartment with shouyou (or anyone, but i'm weak for kghn) and shouyou is left wondering why tobio doesn't announce when he gets home, he just lets the door slam shut and leaves it at that. like there have been a couple times where tobio's scared the shit out of shouyou because the door closed quietly and he didn't hear him walk in. so maybe one day shouyou asks why tobio doesn't say anything and tobio just kinda shrugs it off because he doesn't really remember why himself, but eventually he gets back into the habit of calling out a quick "i'm home" as he sets his bag down and it just becomes another "i'm here" moment for them and suddenly i feel so sick i hate them i hate them i hate them

kghns baby enjoys playing volleyball and doing yoga simply because its a daily occurrence in his life but over time likes taking pictures of his dads whenever theyre playing, which progressed into getting a professional camera and taking pics of them in action. 

the interest in physical therapy happens when kagehina cant play as much anymore bc o/injuries, so photography immortalizes those moments of flight while they still can play. meanwhile hes studying ways to maintain self care and help keep people in the best shape possible

tbh a sakuatsu baby would be SO SPOILED. rich kid kiyoomi+ atsumu is...atsumu. yukiko my darling baby girl gets everything she wants but has a hunger to win things from her own merit as well. initially she kept playing vball out of spite because people kept comparing her to her parents but eventually found its own significance to her. she still went abroad though, to prove a point to herself and start from an almost blank slate

Late. He’s so incredibly late. He promised his parents he could get to the train station on his own, but he lost track of time and now he’s twenty minutes away when the train leaves in fifteen. Obviously, that’s a big problem. Even running at top speed, he isn’t sure he can get there quick enough.

His mom calls him to rub salt in the wound. “Shouyou, where are you? You promised to be here at noon.”

“I’m sorry,” he gasps out between heavy breaths. If he stops running, there’s no chance he’ll make it on time. “I’m going… as fast… as I can.”

“The train will leave whether you’re on it or not,” she reminds him, as if he didn’t already know that. “If you’re not here in ten minutes, you’ll be stuck here for the summer.”

Hinata wants to yell at her that there are dozens of other trains that go to Tokyo, but he might die if he raises his blood pressure any higher. “Yes,” he settles on, hanging up before his heart explodes.

The blood is rushing so loudly through his ears that he can barely think straight. Running at a full sprint for three miles isn’t something he pictured himself doing on a Saturday morning. Going to Tokyo for the summer isn’t something he pictured doing, either, but his uncle lives there. Hinata refused his invitations to visit before, but he’s eager to get out of Miyagi for a while this year, before he starts high school.

His uncle promises that Tokyo is both huge and exciting, and Hinata could really use some fun right now. He’s still deoressed about his inability to start a middle school volleyball team, and while high school will be a fresh start, he needs some cheering up. Of course, running down the sidewalk at eleven AM like a crazy person is the opposite of fun, but that can’t be helped.

You’re dying, Hinata’s brain wails at him. You’re going to drop dead: say goodbye to much more than Tokyo. You won’t even live to see high school, much less join a volleyball team.

Maybe he’s overreacting a little, but life is seeming pretty dismal. And—obviously—it can only get worse.

“Hey, moron, watch out!”

Hinata isn’t sure what he should process first: the insult or the warning. Before he can respond to either, someone yanks him roughly to the side, knocking them both off balance. The world slips into slow motion as his muscles tense and his breath rattles in, almost too easily. He’s going to miss the train: that’s the only thought that breaks through the haze.

A line of bikes loudly speeding past clears the fog away: Hinata must’ve been running on the wrong part of the sidewalk. He was so distracted that he definitely wouldn’t have gotten out of the way if he hadn’t been tackled.

His savior isn’t in a fantastic mood about having to do it, though. “You dumbass. What were you thinking, running in the bike lane? It’s obviously for bikes.”

“I was— I mean I am in a hurry!” Hinata exclaims, crashing back into his senses. He struggles to sit up, eyes searching for—and failing to find—a clock. “What time is it? Oh no, oh no… I’m not going to make it.”

“You’re definitely not going to make it if you don’t stop hyperventilating.”

Hinata turns to the stranger who saved him, but no words come out when he opens his mouth. He has trouble thinking straight for an entirely different reason now. The guy can’t be much older than Hinata: he’s wearing a club uniform that reads ‘Kageyama’ on the chest. His eyes are incredibly blue, too, which is stupid to notice right now, but it’s true: they look like the ocean. He’s got super dark hair that makes them stand out even more.

Unfortunately, his scowl ruins the dazzling effect. “Where are you going in such a hurry that you couldn’t bother to follow basic traffic laws, idiot?”

“I… I don’t have time to explain.” Hinata backs away from him, knowing he’s definitely late and that he has to go right now. “Thanks for your help! I really owe you one!”

“At least tell me your name!” Kageyama shouts after him irritably when he takes off running again. “Hey!”

“It’s Hinata Shouyou!” he yells over his shoulder. “I have to go! I’m sorry!”

A part of him wants to stay, but he needs to get to the train station. If he doesn’t make it, then he’ll have time to come back and give a proper thank you. Until then, he’ll just have to remember what Kageyama looks like and eventually find him again.

But Kageyama follows him, catching up in seconds. Hinata flashes him a confused look, receiving an eye-roll in response. “What? I want to see where you’re going.” He hesitates. “That sounds creepy. I meant that I’m curious. I was going this way already.”

Hinata can’t argue when he’s struggling to breathe, so he just keeps sprinting, and Kageyama silently matches pace with him.

Running somehow feels much easier when he isn’t alone.
