Sometimes I start rants for absolutely no other reason than the fact that I just remembered that something exists:

Here’s something I noticed about Timoteo’s sons that I don’t know if it means anything, but it just gets to me. Putting it under cut because I’m rambling.

Every last one of them, all three, have different last names. Federico Ferrino, Enrico Fermi, and Massimo Ranieri. Assumably as none of these are last names that Timoteo has, these were their mothers’ last names. We don’t get to know anything about these three outside of their deaths, the fact Enrico was apparently the most qualified, and Federico was his favorite son. So I don’t think it’s out there to assume all three have different moms.

What bothers me is that Xanxus doesn’t have a last name. All of his other sons get to have full names, yet he doesn’t let the one he takes in have a last name. This isn’t like the 1800s where someone so poor and forgotten wouldn’t have one, Xanxus’ mother absolutely had one. But Xanxus wasn’t given it. All Xanxus has as a name is just Xanxus, a name that in his eyes binds him to his fate of Vongola Decimo.

What did that do to him? The only thing he ever was by his name was Vongola Decimo. What did that do to his brothers? Reborn’s the one who tells us about them, so clearly the information of Enrico being the most qualified and Federico being Timoteo’s favorite is easily accessible information or things Timoteo was very open about sharing.

The story tries to paint Timoteo as this sweet, caring old man who loved all his sons. But his actions, even ones vaguely implied, show he’s not. No loving parent has a favorite child. No caring man isolates his adopted son by not letting him keep a small piece of his mother.

Maybe someone could say Xanxus himself decided to ditch his mother’s last name, but we never see anything like that. From all of the flashbacks we see of his youth, he’s always been just Xanxus.

Some KHR fans genuine think Vongola is 'better'

They are not

The Parallels Between Xanxus della Varia, Loki Laufeyson and Tai Lung

All rebelled against their foster father (who is a master/king/don)

The said foster father screwed up and probally lied (Shifu is still wonderful and Odin/Timoteo are assholes, but Master Shifu made some mistakes)

The Face-Heel Turn was triggered by a reveal. That they were adopted, actually pretty much kidnapped, in Loki and Xanxus cases and that they weren't fit for the position in Tai Lung's case

Also wants a shiny title/position (Dragon Warrior x Vongola Decimo), challenge the 'new heir' that is kinda of a 'loser' at the beginning. (Po/Tsuna)

All have a rivality with the 'rightful heir' (Po/Tsuna/Thor). Serving as Temporary Antagonist for a while

They are the youngest (foster) sibling (Nono's three sons, Hella and Thor). The Five counts as siblings or something? I dunno

Xanxus and Loki both have Ice Motif (for begin a ice giant and begin locked in ice)

Fanon!Xanxus often has him as a member of a powerful bloodline Timoteo wanted to control. Loki is Odin's greatest enemy's son, Laufey, that he wished to usurp in a way.

Sky is considered the rarest Flame among the Dying Will Flames

Timoteo's three biological sons all have different surnames

So, having a Sky as their Don for each new generations is probably less of a miracle on Vongola's part and more taking advantage of the loopholes regarding mistresses

We know from Gokudera and Xanxus' case that a bastard son can be acknowledged as part of the Family, the only thing against the rules is taking your mistresses in

It's not impossible for Vongola Dons to be encouraged by ~Traditions~ to have children with multiple women to ensure the awakening of a Sky. Although the mothers will never be acknowledged as part of Vongola, there's this unwritten agreement that the Family whose daughter managed to birth the next Don would receive ample support from Vongola

Daniela, being the only woman who managed to become Vongola Don, made a lot of people anxious, what if she couldn't birth a successor? This would be much easier if she was a man.

In the end Daniela had only one son, and after her first experience of pregnancy and childbirth she swore to never again fucking deal with that. Timoteo would be her sole heir, his Flame be damned.

The Family sighed in relief when Timoteo awakened as a Sky, and the tradition to have multiple mistresses continues. I think it would be funny though if none of his legitimate sons managed to awaken as a Sky, and Xanxus, someone without any blood relation to Timoteo, ends up being more qualified according to Vongola's tradition

Learning the history of the bloody succession battles waged by the mistresses, Tsuna vows that this bloodline will end with him. "Thank god I'm a loser and no woman wants me." says the man who manages to charm multiple people with his sincerity regardless of gender.

Timoteo actually never said Xanxus would be boss. Xanxus thought he would be boss because everyone in the family said he would but Timoteo and Iemitsu never said he would’ve been boss of the family.

Xanxus also had three brothers, Xanxus was an easier pick among the family because he did have signs of legitimacy like the flame of wrath from the second boss and he has two X in his name. 

The main problem was Timoteo lied about Xanxus being his son, Xanxus loved being Timoteo’s son and took pride that he was the son of the 9th he was too prideful because he saw himself above everyone in the family. But the problem was Xanxus felt like he was taken in by Timoteo out of pity.

And that's the issue with communication with Timoteo. Had he just said to Xanxus "no, you are not going to be boss, but you are still my son", then probably Xanxus, whilst obviously displeased, would have accepted it better.

Instead he got to listen to everyone hinting at him as boss without Timoteo and/or Iemitsu saying ANYTHING to deny or confirm.

THAT'S NOT XANXUS' FAULT. It's Timoteo and Iemitsu's INABILITY TO COMMUNICATE and INABILITY TO PARENT that are to blame.

Timoteo and Iemitsu had to fucking step up as parents and COMMUNICATE with Xanxus, instead no one did and the result was the Cradle and the whole resentment Xanxus has against Timoteo and by proxy Tsuna.

And ofc he is thinking that he was taken out of pity, because why would he not? If he is not going to be the boss, and he is only "adopted", then who is he? A random guy Timoteo took in out of pity.

Once again a new installation on: Timoteo and Iemitsu are the worst fathers. At least Timoteo tries mending bridges after the Vongola rings battle, a little bit.

The fact Timoteo and Iemitsu (pkus Guardians + Reborn) probally would be stunned and confused if Tsuna absolutally hated them and Vongola enrages me

They would brush off as teen rebellion or just a phase. Thinking it would be easy to earn the boy's loyalty and he would favor them

That their puppet would be obedient and would not blame them, would try to put the blame on the evil Xanxus or whatever

After everything they did, they were counting on Tsuna not having a spine to go against them after all the abuse and manipulation. Or even don't think what they are doing is bad
