I keep thinking about Durge, who, even after defying Bhaal, is never truly free from their father's legacy.
Because yes, the Urge is gone, the cursed blood of Bhaal doesn't call to them anymore. But body remembers, even if mind doesn't. Body knows what it did, it knows what it was created for. It's instinctual, bone-deep reflexes of a person raised to be the perfect murderer. It's little twitches and how easily opponents fall: foes and former allies alike.
It's small glimpses of the past, because mind doesn't remember, but the body DOES. It's the eerie familiarity of darkest corners of Baldur's Gate, it's people recognizing Durge on the streets, people they don't remember but who remember THEM.
It's the feeling of being haunted by your own self.
It's the body of Ketheric, the bloody mess left of Orin, Gortash's lifeless frame. It's the knowledge you're the last one, what this tragic story of conquer started with you and ends with you.
It's the feeling of emptiness where bubbling joy once was, the blood on the blade what brings no feelings. It's being charming, or kind, or honest, or gentle, or honorable, but at the end of the day still being the best in the art of murder - and who are they if not Bhaal's unholy blade?
Godless and fatherless, struggling to reimagine themselves.
Especially when memories come; they never return fully, never in the whole picture. But glimpses, the shards of existence what was once theirs cut deeper than any ritual blade would.
I keep thinking about Durge weighted down by the grief of the world, guilt of the world.
Alone: without a god, a father, a sister, a partner (Gortash, bc these two were absolutely insane for each other).
Alone and with whole life ahead; lost and confused and with hands bloodied.
Hero, people call them. They don't feel like a hero.

Not to sound too Dark Urge-y, but a huge part of the fun of doing harder difficulties and honor mode in BG3 is finding new, scary ways to kill enemies that play out like a horror movie.
For example, let me introduce you to the melee combination of Astarion as a open hand monk/thief rogue with the Sussur Dagger and Lae'zel as a warlock/paladin with the Doom Hammer.
So imagine this. You're a guard at Moonrise Towers Minding Your Damn Business. Suddenly, you feel the sharp sting of cold steel slip through your ribs, and you can't move (stunning strike) and can't speak (silenced condition from the Sussur Dagger). You can only see out of the corner of your eye a glimpse of a silver-haired twink punching you multiple times in the kidneys.
Then, a scary gith lady beats you over the head with a massive hammer that prevents you from healing yourself or getting healed by anyone else (bone chilled from the Doom Hammer).
You can't move, can't scream, and realize far too late as everything goes dark that these were the last six seconds of your life.

headcanon that (my) tav is dyslexic and struggles to read books but really wants to get into everything gale owns and nerd out about the same things with him.
gale patiently reads out his books aloud to tav while they're cuddling on the couch beside the fire.

another day another huge bg3 patch another glimmer of hope that maybe wyll got some new content (romance scenes? unique lines? questline development?) another disappointed but not surprised that he got crumbs relative to everyone else. and one of those crumbs is the wyrmway part of his storyline getting knocked from a main quest to a subquest???
for all that larian is soooo responsive (too responsive imo but that's another conversation) to fans on twitter or whatever, this is fucking egregious. it's not like people aren't calling them on this, they're just ignoring it. blatantly. repeatedly

I promised myself I wouldn't become this kind of BG3 player. But well. Unfortunately it's kind of funny.

i love playing a monk on bg3. larian really looked at tabletop monk and said "you know what. we can fix this"
every turn i cast PUNCH. i can do this up to 8 times per round, 21-41 damage each for 168-320 damage per turn. movement speed that crosses the entire battlefield so that no one is safe from fisting. ability that lets you recover spell slots to cast MORE PUNCH and heal damage. UNO reverse card incoming arrows. punch someone so hard they explode, causing a chain reaction that makes OTHER people explode.
enemy has resistance to non-magical attacks? psyche, my fists are magic as hell and you will eat knuckle sandwhiches for the end of time

And this here is Nuvyell, a forest gnome monk who is stoic about everything. She's teamed up with my partner's half-ord bard (whose name I forget) (but knowing him, it's something like "Assgrabballa" or some shit).
She's almost certainly going to get with Lae'zel. She wants to climb that angry, pointy-teethed tree like a koala bear.
