Mandela catalogue doodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you know that Mandela catalogue has a website? I didn't even know until like 2 weeks ago, it's pretty groovy stuff.
A small headcanon of mine: If the preacher wasn't an alternate trying to sneak-kill Adam while he slept, I'd like to imagine she'd be a mother figure to Mark, Adam and Jonah, like how Six is a father figure to Mark.

(@lvlpin made a comic I saw- it gave me serotonin so I drew something similar while on antihistamines lol)
In my sickly stupor- I (finally) caught up on Mandela Catalogue and drew these.
Between Mark and Adam, I'm starting Intruder/Six has a soft spot for kids. Speaking of Adam, this image popped in my mind and I started chuckling:

TW: mentions of blood/bodily harm
The following is a transcript between Thatcher Davis and [REDACTED] Heathcliff, recorded on September 22nd, 1992 on Heathcliff’s account of the recent disappearances of Mark Heathcliff and Cesar Torres. It is to be noted that Heathcliff has chosen to stay anonymous to the public, requesting to have her name censored on all public documentations of this event outside of classified MCPD files. Interview goes as follows:
[DAVIS BEGINS RECORDING, AUDIBLY SIGHS.]
Davis: State your name for the record.
Heathcliff: [REDACTED] Heathcliff.
Davis: Do you know why you’re here today?
Heathcliff: It’s…because of my son, isn’t it…
[ANONYMOUS OFFICER IN THE ROOM SPEAKS]: I’m sure you’re aware of his recent disappearance, along with his friend, correct?
[HEATHCLIFF REMAINS SILENT.]
[NAME REDACTED]: Do you know of anything that might’ve…gone wrong between them, Miss Heathcliff?
Heathcliff: They…they were best friends, Mark…he…didn’t have many people like that; Cesar was like…a brother to him.
Davis: He was at the Torres household a few nights before Cesar’s disappearance, correct?
Heathcliff: I believe so.
Davis: Do you know why?
Heathcliff: It was a visit…staying the night.
Davis: Visiting…for what reason?
Heathcliff:…He…mentioned that he wanted to talk to Cesar. He didn’t say what he wanted to talk to him about.
[DAVIS WRITES ANSWERS DOWN. OFFICER IN THE ROOM SPEAKS]
[REDACTED]: You mentioned that your son has been acting…strangely, correct?
Heathcliff: Yes…but…not violent.
[REDACTED]: I wasn’t implying he was. Why do you mention that?
Davis: I can take care of this myself, [REDACTED].
Heathcliff: I-I don’t know, he just…felt…I don’t know.
Davis: Can you describe these behaviors?
[HEATHCLIFF REMAINS SILENT FOR AROUND FIVE SECONDS, PRESUMABLY THINKING.]
Heathcliff: He…seemed more distant; more than usual.
[REDACTED]: Do you believe it has to do with his diagnose?
Heathcliff: He…never acted that way before. He liked staying in his room and kept to himself but…it almost seemed like he was…avoiding everyone, even his sister. Though, I don’t…think his depression had to do with it.
Davis: Is there anything else you’d like to mention, regarding these changes in behavior?
Heathcliff:…He started…sleepwalking. Knocking on his sister’s door and…talking, though I never knew what he was saying.
[DAVIS SIGHS AND SLIDES NOTEBOOK TOWARDS HEATHCLIFF]
Davis: This seemed to have belonged to Mark, is that correct?
Heathcliff: Yes. He liked writing in a journal…it was a suggestion by his therapist.
[DAVIS GOES TO SPEAK BUT IS INTERRUPTED.]
[REDACTED]: There are multiple entries inside that imply that he and Torres’s friendship was starting to become potentially toxic. Were you aware of this?
Heathcliff: N…no.
[REDACTED]: Ma’am, it seems that…Mark had…been feeling bitter towards Cesar shortly before his disappearance, stating things like “he won’t listen to me” or “he’s ignoring me” and similar things.
[HEATHCLIFF APPEARS WORRIED, AND REMAINS SILENT.]
[REDACTED]: If you don’t mind me asking…was Mark a particularly…violent person?
Heathcliff: He…n-no, he wasn’t. He…got into a few fights at school, but he wasn’t naturally violent or-
[REDACTED]: Ma’am, that could be a sign of an underlying problem. You mentioned on his report that he had problems regulating his emotions, including anger. It could be possible that he was particularly angry at Cesar that night, the night the supposed visit took place.
Heathcliff: My son is not a murderer. I came here hoping that you could stop all the rumors going around town that my son is some sort of…twisted psychopath. Do you know how many calls I get, yelling at me about how my son killed one of the most popular kids in school?
[REDACTED]: Now, I’m not making any conclusions, I’m simply stating that…it’s certainly possible.
Davis: I’ll take care of this myself, [REDACTED]. You’re free to leave.
[REDACTED]:…Lieutenant, I must-
Davis: That is an order.
[OFFICER LEAVES THE ROOM, SHUTTING DOOR BEHIND HIM.]
Davis: Apologies…as I was saying, your son—
Heathcliff: It doesn’t matter what I say, does it?
Davis: Pardon?
Heathcliff: No matter what, you’re going to…pin all of this on Mark, aren’t you?
[HEATHCLIFF APPEARS TO BE HOLDING BACK TEARS.]
Davis:…No. Not enough evidence to pin anything on anyone. Your son is not being accused of anything…I’ll make sure of that.
Heathcliff: Your friend seems to disagree…
Davis: Are there…any…particular events you’d like to mention before we wrap our conversation up?
[HEATHCLIFF AVOIDS EYE CONTACT. APPEARS NERVOUS.]
[THERE IS SILENCE FOR AROUND 10 SECONDS BEFORE DAVIS CLOSES FOLDER]
Davis: Then I suppose you’re free to—
Heathcliff: Yes.
[DAVIS PAUSES AND SITS BACK DOWN.]
Davis: Can you…describe them?
Heathcliff: He…for a period he…God. He was so…polite.
Davis: That sounds…like a good thing.
Heathcliff: Not this time, no. He was…too polite, before that he was so cold and…irritable, but for a day straight he was so…soulless. I don’t know what got into him; Sarah even told me he was banging on her door one night…asking her to…follow him somewhere.
Davis: Did she tell you where?
[HEATHCLIFF REMAINS SILENT.]
Davis: Did Mark say where he wanted Sarah to go?
Heathcliff:…Home.
[DAVIS WRITES ACCOUNT OF EVENTS DOWN.]
Heathcliff: It all ended when…I…oh God…opened his bedroom door.
Davis: What did you see?
Heathcliff: He was…kneeled on the ground…almost like he was…praying. But he wasn’t, he was…biting his hands until they bled. There was blood all over his face and arms and…I don’t…I didn’t know what to do—
Davis: It’s alright, Mrs. Heathcliff. Was he…typically this…self-destructive?
Heathcliff: No. I…don’t…believe so. After that he seemed…normal. As normal as he had been lately.
Davis: Ma’am, you have been told of the gun found in his nightstand, correct?
Heathcliff:…yes.
Davis: Do you believe he may have been…contemplating—
Heathcliff: I wish to go now.
[DAVIS PAUSES.]
Davis:…Very well. I believe we’re done here. Contact me if you have anything else you’d like to mention.
[HEATHCLIFF REMAINS SILENT AS DAVIS RETRIEVES EVIDENCE FROM THE TABLE. DAVIS FLINCHES.]
Davis: What did you say?
Heathcliff: I…didn’t say anything.
[SILENCE FOR AROUND FIVE SECONDS. DAVIS APPEARS PERTURBED.]
Davis: Very well…you’re…free to go.
[END TRANSCRIPT]
Notes: Will investigate the Torres household with Ruth in three days. There has to be something more to this case, I know it. I’m not letting a young man be blamed for a crime he didn’t commit.
I heard something. I know I did. But it didn’t sound like her.

Do you think that while Mark was trapped he realized he never spoke to Caesar that night?
That his friend was probably dead?
that he probably would be soon too?
Do you think he blamed himself for not being able to tell that his friend had become one of the monsters in his closet?

'Hail, True Body' AU Summary
So, here's an overview of my Mandela Catalogue AU called 'Hail, True Body'.
The alternate that killed and replaced Cesar Torres tries a little too hard to be human. It goes terribly.
Mark Heathcliff who should, by all accounts, be dead, discovers the awful truth about what happened to his best friend and takes up a path of vengeance and discovers some pretty awful truths about himself as well.
Being human is a terrible weight, but sometimes you find others to share the burden with.
The AU:
All Parts of Hail, True Body are posted in the order they should be read in to avoid any confusion or need to jump around. Some parts are multi-chapter fics whereas others are just oneshots. Here are links to the parts so far. A new part begins whenever the previous one comes to an end - this is once again to avoid confusion or a need to jump around (I feel that makes the story get too complex). Alongside the links, I have included the length of the part and an overview without too many spoilers.
Part 1: Its Name Was Cesar Torres.
Length: 6/6 chapters (the 7th chapter is just an art reference for Mark and Cesar).
Overview: Mark Heathcliff answers a call one September night in 1992 to find his best friend probably suffering from M.A.D., and Mrs. Torres dead on the kitchen floor. The creature that has replaced Cesar Torres formulates a plan to kill Mark with the most reward, but finds being human is a lot more complicated - and dangerous - than it initially thought.
Part 2: 10:15, Saturday Night.
Length: Oneshot.
Overview: Following the immediate aftermath of Part 1, Mark Heathcliff spirals into a crisis of faith unlike any he's experienced so far. Cesar Torres is dead, and in what kind of a world is that fair? Unsure of what to do or where to turn with the blood on his hands, he picks up the phone and asks for help from the one person who's been there since everything in his life started to go wrong.
Part 3: Old Rugged Cross.
Length: 5/5 chapters (this fic is Mark's backstory).
Overview: Mark Heathcliff has always been dogged by despair and the unusual, ever since he was a child. For him, it begins on October 15th 1978, when he makes his first imaginary friend, and it only gets worse from there.
Part 4: What's In A Name?
Length: Oneshot.
Overview: Some time after Part 1, the alternate formerly known as Cesar Torres wakes up in the nothingness it originally came from. Confused and unable to recall what happened, it clings to the one thing it can remember: a boy with sad brown eyes and a crucifix about his neck.
Part 5: The Good Samaritan
Length: 10/12 chapters (currently ongoing).
Overview: Mark Heathcliff decides revenge is the best way of moving forward. Thatcher Davis disagrees. Mandela County isn't safe and has never been safe, not for people like them who've seen more than they ever should have. On opposite ends of the divide, Thatcher tries his best to meet Mark halfway, before that kid can get himself killed.
Part 6: Eye For An Eye (upcoming)
Length: TBA
Overview: An alternate seeks revenge and longs for a time when things were simpler. It is broken. And it wants to be whole. No matter how it looks at it, there is but one common denominator: Mark Heathcliff. There is only one course of action - remove him from the equation. It will be whole again. It must.
Please make sure to read the content warnings in the author's note of each chapter for every part before reading!
If you want more info with links to character designs, music playlists, and insight into how angels and alternates work within this AU, here is the link to the masterpost!
Essentially, this AU focuses on all the respective characters of The Mandela Catalogue and how their stories all come together. At the moment though, Mark and alt!Cesar are the focus as that's where we're at with the current story arc. It handles the topic of what it means to be human, a bunch of 'what-ifs' (such as Dave being Mark's uncle), trauma and found family without compromising on any of the horror the original Mandela Catalogue series has. The AU will follow all the way up to 2009 and possibly a little beyond that.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Thanks!

So for votes on who to scream about, we had a good amount of votes for Limbo and Stanley and Cesar, so I'm gonna get Limbo and Stanley down first, Cesar is on the way though!
Starting off with two of the main Alternates I’ve thought out, we have Limbo and Stanley.
“But what were they like BEFORE they were the way they are now?” I hear you ask! Well, I’ve thought that through almost perfectly! Under the cut though because I have. Many thoughts about these guys and they live in my head rent free.
Trigger warnings for: Murder of sibling, implied suicide, implied murder, unprepared parenthood, sibling rivalry, canon divergence(idk if that's a trigger but just in case-), child favoritism, death mention, implied bad parenting, stuff like that, be careful!
Stanley and Limbo(Born Stanley Ravensburg and Cain Ravensburg) were born to Mary Ravensburg and Noah Ravensburg on December 15th, 1962.
Cain was an “accident-child”, as their mother only wanted to have one kid as it was all she was prepared to raise. Should she have been more prepared in case of twins? Probably, but she didn’t really have the time to prepare.
Stanley was always the favorite of the family, as he came out first and thus was seen as the wanted child.
They still took care of Cain, Stanley was just the favorite. Cain, growing up, always tried to one-up Stanley as a way of trying to earn his parents’ affection, but it never really worked out for him.
Eventually, he gave up on trying to earn their affection, and started doing things for himself. He’d always enjoyed game shows as a kid, so he wanted to host one himself someday, so he worked towards that, building a name for himself in the acting/entertainment world.
He finally gained the adoration he so desired! He was ecstatic!!
Then Stanley became a weather forecaster. People found HIM more entertaining due to his hilariously monotone way of speaking, even if he was warning about a hurricane or tornado.
Cain was furious, subtly casting shade at his brother occasionally when he was on-air(“What’s a two word name for an occupation that’s boring?”, stuff like that)
Stanley eventually found out and returned the gesture, it hurting worse as Stanley had always been painfully blunt and honest.(“What’s got roughly the same amount of letters as attention whore, but means practically the same thing?”) That sorta cost Cain most of his viewership.
This was the last straw for Cain. Cain finally had had enough of Stanley. He’d had enough of living in his shadow.
It wouldn’t be too much, just one shot and Stanley would just be hospitalized, right?
Then came the day he shot Stanley. He aimed too high.
Cain felt joy for all of a few moments before he realized: Stanley wasn’t moving anymore. He started panicking. It wasn’t supposed to be fatal, he didn’t want Stanley dead, just hospitalized for a few days, that’s all Cain wanted.
After he realized what happened, Cain dropped the gun he shot Stanley with and rushed back into his car, hurrying to drive away from the scene, having a slight panic attack as he drove off.
He went off-grid for a while after that, changing his name and appearance. The first week before he changed his mobile phone number was the hardest, as his parents were calling him, BEGGING HIM to come home in case the shooter came for him next.
He could never go back home, and for the first while, that hurt him. He loved his ma and pa with all his heart, but he could never face them. Not after what he did to his brother.
Before this, the harshest thing he did was toss a rock at Stanley, blinding him in his right eye and throw a few insults his way, and his parents forgave him for those after giving him a stern talking to on each occasion, the rock incident taking longer to forgive him for, but aside from that he was more dismissive to Stanley than anything.
Stanley had NEVER been mean to Cain, Cain just took what Stanley said to him as him purposefully being mean just because of how he spoke.
Cain regretted what he did to Stanley for years. Then the Alternate outbreak happened. It started the day he moved into Mandela County.
He’d been feeling like shit ever since he shot Stanley, but eventually got a little better with it. Then he saw a face on the TV.
He was confused. He swore he turned it off. When he walked closer, he saw that it was off. But the face was still there.
The face told him things, horrible, horrible things. Cain had already been in a terrible place mentally, but the face made it worse.
Eventually, it got to be too much, and Cain took care of it the typical way victims of Alternate Encounters handle things, dying on December 14th, 1986.
He became an Alternate soon after, his “worst” qualities getting boosted. He was now a complete showman, unable to deal with anything seriously, taking his tasks on as some demented episode of a sick and twisted game show. He got his new name “Limbo” from when he was surfing through channels and found a rerun of the short called “Limbo the organized mind”.
He saw how people were freaked out by it and took the name, as it sounded better than Cain ever could sound.
He didn’t really want to be antagonistic at first, but with some constant nudging from “Gabriel”, and with some manipulation from him, he started to become more and more antagonistic.
Now he’s more like the Intruder from Intruder Alert that we all know and love!
If I had to pick a song that works as his theme song, it would be “The Main Character” by Will Wood or “My Ordinary Life” By the Living Tombstone.
Stanley though, Stanley’s different. He’s kept his monotone way of speaking, but he’s gained a less blunt way of speaking due to his time of reflection in the in-between before he came back as a Guardian Alternate.
When Stanley woke up as a Guardian Alternate, he was highly confused, as one would be when thrown into the world and your head has been replaced with a TV and you’re now 7’8” when you were previously, like, 6’ 2”.
His attention was immediately grabbed by the sound of a child, about 6 or 7, crying. His dad instincts kicked in almost immediately.
And thus, he became the Guardian Alternate of the kid, acting as his protector.
Whenever the kid came home from school, Stanley always made sure that he was okay, as he felt like he was his son.
He remembered how his father raised him, don’t show feelings, don’t show weakness, ect.
And threw it out the window, as he feels it deprived him of so much as a child.
Instead, he makes sure to listen to his person’s interests, encouraging him in his interests, stuff like that!
His person actually helps Stanley come out of his shell a bit! Like, Stanley sorta gains a bit of emotion in his voice! And slowly starts to gain enough confidence to slowly leave the kid’s room!
At some point, Stanley gains the confidence to meet the kid’s mom, telling her what the kid’s dad has been like towards her kid.
If I had to pick a theme song for Stanley, I’d say that it’d be “You Will Be Okay” from Helluva Boss, as that just encompasses him as a character.
Stanley is the better person of the two, acting as more of the protective of humans than Limbo does.
…or at least, that’s how it seems during the start of the story.
Then Limbo reunites with Adam(Judas(vol 4 intruder) dropped Adam on Limbo after kidnapping him because he didn’t feel like taking care of Adam, he legit said “this little cringe ass nae-nae baby piece of shit is your problem now bye bitch.”)in volume 2, and he sorta starts to bond with Adam.(Sure, he tries breaking his mental state, but hey, kibbo, your papa’s here now! :D) Then Adam starts to show signs of being sad about Jonah leaving. Limbo feels some form of pain in his heart at seeing this and shrugs it off as “Oh, it’s nothing!”, not knowing it was a sign that he was slowly turning into a Guardian Alternate.
The thing is, “Gabriel” never told Limbo anything about Guardian Alternates aside from “They are our worst enemies. We are to attack them on sight.”. He was never told why, he was never told anything about them, just that they were the enemy and that they were a danger to their goals.
When Limbo realizes what’s going on, he doesn’t report to “Gabriel” at his usual time. Heck, it’s a surprise he reports to him at all, and when he does, he’s a nervous wreck.
“Gabriel” shrugs this off as “Maybe he’s not as strong as I thought he was.”.
When “Gabriel” goes in-detail about what Alternates do to Guardian Alternates, Limbo panics and runs away, saying he “Remembered I have a kiddo to go kidnap, Judas is taking the day off, I’m gonna go do that!”
“Gabriel” is happy to hear this, as he thinks Limbo is finally bouncing back. He isn’t. He’s just trying to get as far away from Gabriel as he can.
Also, like, Alternates don’t really age, so they stay at the age they died at(Stanley died in like, his early to late thirties, same with Limbo-), but they still celebrate their birthdays if they can remember them/if they were human but then became Alternates.
This is what I’ve figured out for these two goobers, but I’m always thinking of new stuff for ‘em! :D

Ello! Remember Friendly Alternative Y/n? Can I maybe request Mark introducing them to Thatcher Headcanons? :0 atleast then maybe the police will have instead of a police dog a police alternative XD also the feeling of just imaging protecting Y/n at first from a shocked thatcher is so adorable :0
Thatcher visited the Heathcliff residence one evening under the guise of another "wellness check".
But in reality, he thought there was more to Mark's case than just the simple statement he provided.
Surviving not one but two Alternate attacks might sound like an act of pure luck or divine intervention, yet it didn't seem plausible that this kid could've taken all of them on by himself.
He suspected a third party might've been involved--or something that Mark was unwilling to share with the authorities at the time.
The lieutenant figured he'll be able to answer the questions he didn't get to ask before.
However the "surprise visit" goes about as well as anyone would expect....with Mark panicking and you hiding in the shadows, watching and wondering what would happen.
He gets rid of any and all evidence of your presence, until Thatcher finds a drawing in the trash alluding to you, a Type 3 Alternate, being some sort of "guardian angel".
That didn't make any sense.
This kid must have a case of MAD that distorted his perception of Alternates as protectors.
But Mark gets extremely defensive when he suggested this.
"Listen, I know it sounds crazy. I never thought I'd consider one of them to be a friend, but I can prove it! I can bring [y/n]-"
"Wait...you gave that thing a name-?"
"No, lieutenant. I gave that name to myself."
Thatcher nearly jumps out of his skin as you appear from the shadows, instinctively reaching for his gun...but remembering Mark's words and seeing the terrified look on his face, he calms down a little, sitting back down.
Immediately he can tell you're nothing like the broadcasts said.
You aren't currently mimicking anybody, being a "pure form" similar to N/The Façade.
You're not hostile in the slightest, and he asks you why.
Long story short, you managed to gain his trust and he thinks you'd be helpful in his investigations.
You wind up going to the station as an "undercover" officer in-training, with him and Ruth (after convincing her that you're on humanity's side) showing you the ropes.
Ofc you're not a perfect copy of a human being, but the rest of the MCPD suspects nothing.
The 333 Alternate is less-than-pleased to see you prevent it from killing Ruth and Thatcher when you accompany them to the Murray residence, calling you a "traitor" to your kind.
You knew the risks of helping the organization Gabriel was trying to dismantle, but it's one worth taking if it means Mandela was a little bit safer, especially Mark.
At the end of the day, you'd always return to his home just to make sure he was alright.
And also to ramble about how much you liked having a "real human job".
