“My daughters dress was pink. The flowers I got did not go with her dress.” The lady states to a very tired looking Vinny. Y/N could tell he was getting annoyed with the woman even though he got the order wrong. It made her chuckle.

“I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. I can give you a big discount on your next order or issue you a full refund.” He says in his nonchalant voice as if it’s rehearsed. Y/N finishes displaying the flowers in the front window of the shop and makes her way over to the man.

“Refund?” She asks looking for some window markers in the drawers under the front counter. “It’s always the refund. I can’t keep doing this job. It’s driving me crazy.” He complains to his girlfriend.

Y/N knew where he was coming from. Flowers was never Vinny’s thing. His family owned the flower shop so he couldn’t really up and leave. “You need to find something that sparks your motivation. Maybe something that can get us out of your mothers house?” Y/N says shutting the drawer having no luck finding the markers.

Vinny leans back on the counter crossing his arms over his chest. “It would be nice not having to check and see if my mother’s home everytime we-” he was interrupted by Y/N hugging him suddenly. He hugs her back a bit puzzled by the sudden affection. “You looked tired so I’m giving you a recharge hug.” She answers before he even gets to question what she’s doing.

“Oh well thank you.” He replies resting his cheek on top of her head with a warm smile. The two stayed like this for as long as they could. Vinny and Y/N had been the only one’s running the shop for a while now. His parents were getting older and the shop had seen better days. They got back to doing what they needed to do by the end of the day, exchanging conversations here and there.

It was later in the day around closing time when Y/N was outside about to finish her design on the front window. She was hoping her art would attract some new customers into the shop. “All done..!” She shouts to Vinny who’s inside finishing up a big corsage order. She sees him stand on the other side of the window admiring her art. “I think it’s crooked..!” He shouts back. Y/N steps back to see if it really is crooked but when she does he’s already grinning revealing he was just joking.

“Ha ha very funny.” She sarcastically says. Neither of them expected what was to come next. Within a blink of an eye a big blast comes from the Chinese restaurant next door which continued into the flower shop. The back of Y/N’s head hits the road pavement after she’s flown back from the blast

A couple of moments later she jolts up remembering Vinny being inside. “Ouch..” She hisses and holds the back her head which is bleeding a bit. Y/N gets up as fast as she can only seeing how destroyed everything is when she’s fully standing. The window to the shop was completely gone and not to mention the whole chinese restaurant.

“Vinny!” She runs over to him once she sees him laying in front of the window now outside. Y/N couldn’t tell if she had died because this man was smiling from ear to ear. Getting on her knees she shakes his shoulders which snaps him out of it. He continues to have a smile as he states, “Honey..I found my spark.”

I've watched this movie three times recently, so I just had to finally draw the "Heart of Atlantis" / "Crystal Cavern" scene.

I would like to bring under the spotlight frigging Warrior Queen Kidagakash Nedakh's and Liuthenant Helga Sinclair's never ever spoken-about brutal force

Because 1) my sis in Messiah Kidagakash Nedakh

... rapidly stun three heavily ww1 geared soldiers with bare hands, wholly yeeting one over her head that flung like a bag of potatoes while easily getting the higher ground with another and attempting a first melee fatal pincushioning for their persistency at fighting her back

Not one

but two soldiers, are needed to restrain her.

Secondly 2) ! ! !

Then there this Chad

Where two soldiers were needed to four-hand work to keep still a full berserk'd Kidagakash this smug butt needed just one

Again. She's currently restraining someone that got to be held down by two people before

And Helga is.... ehm..! Casually smugly posing? She's making pass, a firm clasping of a set of arms (Kida's) that made a grown up ass soldier fly thru air, as a light workout?

Barely flincing for the entirety of Kida's hostage situation?

While casually finding time for doing a cowboy smarty nerdy trick with the a pistol?

Lets's be real. These two are built like brickhouses

The only capable to match them in force is Rourke (another, that withstanded stoicly Helga's, Helga's..! Three mortal kombat kicks in the face. Like dude. You have to be made literally of stone to keep up with that. Hehe stone. Because he..! Because he! Heh. No? Uh. Ok no).

Yeah...

Saw a post years ago that pointed out that all the black characters they saw that were represented without racist caricatures were done with white hair (with few exceptions)

And they went on to say that there are too many brown/brown/otherwise POC characters like that (especially women) like Kida from Atlantis

And since reading that, every time I see a fire, badass, beautiful POC characters with white hair, all I can think about is that post

Like Kalim Al Asim from TWST or Kida from Atlantis, Storm from X-Men and Mirko from BNHA. Hell, even Asra from Arcana or Ekko from Arcane/League of Legends

And there are countless more that I've seen done in a similar fashion, too

All of these characters are awesome, beautiful, badass representations that are extremely well done!

But they're all done with white hair. It makes me, as a white person, wonder if artists do this simply because the white balances out beautifully against brown skin

Or the more likely answer, where perhaps they do it as a way to make them 'desirable' brown characters. It feels odd and off (even though I love seeing BIPOC with all sorts of cool hair colours, it's the way it's done that makes me feel strange about it bc it happens so often)

Like,,, let them have darker skin AND darker hair.

Hell, let black characters have darker hair, darker skin, AND ETHNIC HAIR. Give them locs, or braids, or actual coils, or textured hair of any kind. Give them bantu knots, twists, etc.

You can draw all these crazy clothes and spiky hairstyles, but not ethnic hair?

Bullshit.

(edit before anyone sees this: would love LOVE comments/reblogs detailing anyone else's thoughts, especially if you're BIPOC!! as a white person, I'd really like to see your opinions on this frequently-used 'stereotype' in media. I would like to know, too, if my feeling uncomfy with the stereotype portrayed is just me not having any BIPOC experience to personally draw off of or if it's something others feel and notice too.)

And I know I’ve never mentioned it before but Atlantis is like one of my top three favorite Disney movies and the card art is just so cool

It’s the 4th of July and my brain went to Atlantis…Again.

I imagined Vinny making homemade fireworks and causing absolute chaos! Cookie would be having a blast on the BBQ, cooking up a shit-ton of baked beans. Mole would probably be diving headfirst into the giant bowl of potato salad. Milo would probably be reading a ton of the books in the shade of an apple tree. For some bizarre reason I can imagine Audrey, Helga and Kida joining a baseball game and getting VERY competitive. Mrs. Packard would be chatting it up with her lady friends. Meanwhile Rourke is taking the day off to work on his tan at the edge of a lake or something. Only to have his day off be interrupted by the other’s shenanigans (like a stray baseball or a . Oh, and Mr.Whitmore would probably be trying the high dive (and scarring the eyes of local children with his old gentlemanly physique).

Basically, one big chaotic multi-national family. 🥰
