I'm rereading the Hunger Games and I remember when Amandla Stenberg was cast as Rue in the movies and people were so mad bc Katniss said she reminded her of Prim so then she must be white(even tho Katniss and her family aren't white either or at least not fully white in the books), but it's literally in chapter 3 of the first book, page 45 in the copy I have to be exact. "She has dark brown skin and eyes, but other than that, she's very like Prim in size and demeanor." It's so early in the book that other than her skin color and eye color she's much like Prim.
so just as a reminder to those who haven't read the books Collins based Katniss and Gale on the Melungeon
and there's more here
there's more here https://www.reddit.com/r/Hungergames/comments/11fjz93/is_katniss_native_american_coded/?rdt=65476
so Katniss and Gale were supposed to be olive skinned with grey eyes and dark hair which is a far cry from what we got with JLaw.
In fact many people thought the correct casting for Katniss should have been Q'orianka Kilcher
I'm giving this background info because the tumblr search doesn't work and its over 10 years ago now. but yeah you're totally right nonny that Rue reminded Katniss of Prim in the books. And like that's why Katniss became so protective of Rue because she had this instinct to protect Rue who was also the same age as Prim.

Re-watched the first season of The Alienist recently and given the state of Laszlo's leg, realized the middle photo is a film still from a scene that was cut from the end of the 8th episode and I'm like, shit... out there somewhere is a clip of Laszlo (and John) discovering Mary's lifeless body.
Let that sink in.
