I am heavily contemplating on buying myself a dvd player soon and buying all the DVDs for a ton of movies and tv shows I grew up watching cuz I miss the magic of dvds

The characters are interesting.#I liked the way they just kinda immediately into swapping species and enjoyed their new forms no big deal.#I found the writing a bit boring/simple - and like. lacking atmosphere and worldbuilding.#Like when the two meet their dialogue immediately took me out of it - it was like two people meeting on the street#not two people from entirely different species. I feel like it skips over what could have been some interesting cultural differences#their first interaction is the human being grossed out by seeing a mermaid eating raw fish?#like she’s specifically grossed out by the ‘eating raw fish’ part of it? what did you think they’d eat? also you live in a fantasy seaside#there’s no way you wouldn’t be acquainted with the grossness of fish even if you don’t eat it raw????#I kinda wish it had drawn out just the two of them rather than bringing the prince storyline into it.#He was such a silly villain who I couldn’t really take seriously - and I didn’t understand why she didn’t just run away or attack him?#He didn’t feel like an actual threat.#I read this bc one of the characters is demi-aroace and it was fine I guess if only very briefly referenced. I feel like they got together#though I did appreciate the ‘I’ve never before#but I feel like I could love her one day” when they got together rather than her immediately flipping from nothing to In Love#There was a bit where a side character said to her something along the lines of: ‘oh you CAN love; i just wasn't the right person;#there’s nothing wrong with you after all’. which. #anyway i finished the main portion of the book#all i have left is the poems and a few other small things i think? ive read pelafinas letters#im thinking of getting the full book of her letters#but also they severely messed with my head so we'll see#i will say. i do get why ppl say the book is pretentious and frustrating#there was a lot of stuff where i couldnt tell if it was supposed to be satire or if it was genuinely just that dense and pretentious#and a lot of the codes were rly obtuse imo?#like... idk. some of them were super obvious like the sos stuff or pelafina outright saying what to do#but others like. man how am i supposed to know johnny waxing poetic about pussy was coded#i mean that one is also pointed out though much later but i know i missed a lot just like it that werent pointed out#and ive heard theres a lot of shit where the message you get is just danielewski????? which gonna be real. kinda dumb.#but i did also really enjoy the book#there was a lot of stuff in it that was just so compelling or poignant or whatever other word#the minotaur stuff is good (ofc id say that though i love me some minotaur themes)#also a lot of the scenes with johnny just...... christ#idk how ppl say to skip them hes so fascinating#yeah i could do with him talking about his possibly hallucinated sex life a bit less but also his story is just plain interesting#i still think about the part where the girl he was talking to runs over a dog they had picked up........ it was fucking chilling#and his hallucinations of dying are so descriptive in just the right way to get under my skin#the uncertainty with him and his family..... did pelafina try to kill him? did his father just send her away for being a bit too overbearing#over an accident? was there something else? what was the deal with his foster family? with lude? gdansk man and kyrie?#how did it get published? who are the editors? why did the band know of the book before it should have been published?#why does his journal section end with a story from a man he admits to making up completely? the doctor from seattle doesnt exist#the chronological end is more hopeful with him saying things will be okay but then he puts a previous entry after that?#i think the burning of the book parallels the story nicely#johnny said his piece; he nurtured the book as much as he could; but it was hurting him and he had to give up on it#idk!#this book does make me feel a lil dumb ngl

im getting in the spirit and watching it pirated lmao!! hey fair warning tho: to get to the sad gays you also have to sit through a lot of straight sex and altogether too much rape, both on and off-screen. like it is a very good show that is definitely worth watching and if you can make it through the first 3 episodes you can take everything the show has to throw at you. but it is not an easy or comfortable watch.

#its usually like#two or three random parts of a song just looping in my head#(if i focus and kinda mentally say the lyrics i can listen to the full thing? but theres like me 'talking' in my head and the song playing#in my head as two seperate things sk sometimes the song skips ahead/jumps randomly/loops random parts#and if i dont focus my mental singing does that too)#uh if im reading or writing something thats usually being read out in there#i have kinda an internal voice? so like i talk in my head and thats usually one of the loudest things in there#and the only thing i have full control over#i went through a weird years long phase where i was constantly narrating myself in second or third person which was. interesting#sometimes random phrases (either written or spoken) get stuck in there#and other random trains of thought start and stop that i dont think i have control over?#but they all kinda comment on each other sometimes#like 'hey i should do this it would be funny' and then the main/spoken train of thought goes 'no i shouldn't im just doing that for#attention' 'actually no im just thinking this for attention' 'everything i do is to fit a specific mental image i want to project'#'what the fuck are you on about i dont want to do this again im at work'#after a certain point its just my main train of thought arguing with itself lmao#and most of the time even when i switch the main train of thought to focus on something (writing#playing a song in my head etc) theres still smaller branches of it that are commenting on what im doing? they're louder than the usual#random trains of thought but not as loud as the main one (also not in my control? no fucking clue lmao)#idk it's a lot#kinda frustrating i spend so long in there and yet i have no clue how to visualise/explain it but w/ever#i dont even know if i can see images in there lmaoo#me.txt
