Okay, I can't find a term that fits this so I'm joining this flux term for my alterhumanity;

Kinflux/Typeflux - when one's nonhuman/alterhuman identity isn't steady, nor fluid, but rather in a state of flux. The same identities are present, but the strength of them changes.

Unlike Fluxtherian, one's alterhuman identity is always the same (always a theriotype, hearttype, etc) and does not leave its bounds. Rather, it only becomes more/less present at times

I.e I always identify as Bonnie/a jackal/Na'vi/etc. but the strength of these may change due to triggers (source) or at random.

I'll make a flag eventually but I don't currently have access (or brainpower) to something that will allow me to do as such.

for a while after finding out I was otherkin, I was a incubus alongside a dog and weird ooze thing but that part of me faded away eventually. It's back now though. feels weird.

4/ in terms of this being an enduring thing, I have no idea. it came to mind because I've started fixating on the canon of this character again. and my memory is fucked, but I think the last time I was really into this (2-3 years back?), I still had strong feelings of them being relatable but didn't think much of it. wouldn't it have stayed in my brain if it counted? (other complications: character being my favorite, making fanworks, this character choice being kind of edgy??)

yeah, i mean. the Enduringness is... more a longterm way i’ve sorted (or tried to) flickers from kin. but. it’s all arbitrary, at some point. is the sucky-wonderful thing about labels identities and words.

more importantly i feel like - it’s okay to shift which words you use, what category you sort things into, over time. i flipflop a lot among a small cluster of relatedish but Different-Feeling words, in various aspects of my life. and some of those have been Conceptualization changes, and some have been The Feeling Itself changes. (fucking- arcflux, and. godddd contemplates the pit of coining things like kinflux. the arguments about “but feelings naturally flux!”)

yes hi? hello? hi yes um i first read homestuck in 2011, i wrote fanfic and rp’d, i followed it to the trickster arc then Stopped, i caught up right before it ended in 2016... i didn’t consider “oh shit kin” until after it ended and i was like, Upset about the Rooftop Talk and shit and

okay that is not strictly true. because looking back through my blog i repeatedly found... posts about relatability and “hmmmm”ing about kin and. though that was maybe more about john?? i dunno also because arcs and insight into characters who are purposefully mysteriously flatly depicted at first?? it’s impossible to fully recall the experience of first getting to know a character

but also, okay, i grew up with star wars and changed my goddamn middle name to anakin before i knew what kin was, it didn’t click even though i’d do “yes i’m anakin? me” for ages - but it didn’t come up all the time, i’d go months or years not thinking about it -

look, brains are weird, and different, and don’t always stay Consciously Thoughtful about something Meaningful - there is noooottt a one-to-one relationship there.

also... it totally looked like “this one’s my Favorite” for me. for kin and for flickers! wrote fic for all of them, tbh. that, uh, tends to be a mode of Relating and Connecting. it doesn’t preclude other modes, or invalidate them. (though it caaaann make them a lil awkward, like, “oh so now in essence i’ve posted fic of... me, retrospectively. Hmm”)

and they all have cringey, ~edgy~ elements (***darth vader,*** okay). there’ll always be something to wince about, whether it’s mary sue-ish, Popular, Dark, super cheery... that’s, how characters, and people, and reactions to them, are. but, well, anyone who holds that against you is a dick.

and i mean yeah, talking about or claiming a niche identity like this can Quite Quickly Reveal The Dicks. it’s a pro and a con. i personally treasure the deeper connections and conversations i’ve been able to have because of it, and the quicker heads-up as to people’s values and what they dis/respect.

mm, a piece of advice: questioning can be like clothes-shopping, and part of that is not just looking at but *trying on* clothes. not necessarily right away - feel free to look around first. sometimes you can gauge a fit by looking. but ultimately you can’t be sure it does fit without putting it on for a bit. and the good thing is there’s no time limit, returns always accepted. and you can just wear it in private, to look in the mirror. or with trusted friends, to see what they think. you can keep it hanging in your closet, swap it in and out. pack it away in a box. Metaphor.

just... try the mirror thing, and, if it feels scary, is it because you’re worried about people seeing? because it feels vulnerable, exposing? or does it feel like you’re not sure it fits right? what parts? can you alter it? is it in the right ballpark? what do you like about it? dislike? does it make you feel good, underneath it all? or no? do you want to wear it, ideally?

Hi! Is there a term for a gender that's mainly product of two or more kintypes interacting? Or a gender for Elfkin people?

There are neither elfkin nor 2+ kintype specific genders, but polykingender might work the best, if I’d have to guess
