Saw a post where someone was bitching about Korn, and it reignited my hatred...

The constant manipulative and condescending bullshit he's pulling is unbelievable. A benevolent smile, and soft-spoken words, hiding cold calculation, and someone who would be willing to sacrifice his son's happiness, sanity, and probably even his life, if it means his family is in a position of power. As long as there is a legacy. (Tankhun may be unable to lead the family, but Korn doesn't need Kinn to take over. Because he'd drag Kim back kicking and screaming, with no hesitation, and to hell with what Kim thought about it. The only reason he hasn't done that, is because he has Kinn to step up and take over. If Kinn were to die, become seriously injured, or even just earn enough of his father's displeasure... Korn would give Kim that responsibility. I 100% believe that.)

And the way he keeps up the (thin) facade of caring and concerned father, while making sure to keep Kinn firmly under his thumb, and even crushed under his heel? Never missing a chance to bring up Kinn's past 'mistakes'. Encouraging Kinn to be distant and almost isolated, but still heavily reliant on Korn for praise and validation, because it's a way to control him and manipulate him. Speaking in bullshit parables, like he's some wise old sage, when he's really just coming off sounding like one of those douchebags on the internet who think they're so cultured and enlightened, and are eager to tell you all about it. Giving Porsche special treatment, and then demanding Porsche be punished for something, because he's just another bodyguard and doesn't deserve special treatment.

(That's not even touching on the fact that I don't believe he's got any reason to be punished. I know people are all like "He's a bodyguard, he should have been more careful!", and I would agree... if not for Kinn. I know very little about D/s dynamics, but I personally saw Porsche look to Kinn for permission to take the water. And because Kinn has no social skills to apply to the task of 'flirting with his crush', and was being 'coached' by his friends, when he ends up smiling at Porsche (if we can call that a smile, you awkward little cabbage) and giving a little nod, well... To me, and probably to Porsche, that was a nod of permission. Yes? Probably need @lutawolf to tell me if I'm seeing correctly, or I'm being a big dumb.)

These barely scratch the surface. I might revisit Korn's scenes in the future, if anyone thinks I have a point to further turn my brain onto. If not, fuck that guy. He can get face-fucked by a cactus, because you can see how much Kinn is impacted by what Korn says and thinks. Which is why I found the 'rusty knife' scene so interesting. Because here we see Kinn visibly and significantly uncomfortable with what Korn is trying to pull, and his expression does a whole-ass journey. Again, I can also talk about that, if anyone wants me to.

In summary, it's 3:48AM, I've been frothing at the mouth about this for an hour or so, and I'm going to go the fuck to sleep.

My rage is immeasurable, and Korn can catch these fucking hands.

The moments of realisation that hit you when re-watching this show are brutal.

Like the moment where Vegas speaks about taking care of the hedgehogs, and all of them dying.

The moment where he speaks about the last one, and how "He still left me, too."

How "I didn't even get to name him.", because if he didn't name him, maybe it wouldn't hurt so much when he died.

How everything he's ever tried to take care of, except Macau, has died. And that he must be terrified that something will happen to Macau, too.

When he says "Everything that I love has left me.", and you realise he's just waiting for that to happen to everyone in his life that he even remotely cares about.

How you realise that, maybe, this is why Vegas tried so hard to treat Pete like a pet at first.

Maybe, this is why he kept calling Pete a pet. "You are such a good pet of the main family."

Perhaps, it's why he tried to make Pete eat from a pet bowl.

Because if Pete was 'just' a pet, like the hedgehogs he's cared for, maybe it wouldn't hurt so much if he died.

But when he sees that Pete might actually die, he panics.

He crumbles, because he's scared he'll lose Pete, just as easily as those hedgehogs.

When he calls Pete's name, no longer calling him a pet of any kind, shaking his arm, tapping his face. Because Pete is so much more than a pet.

How Vegas dresses Pete's wounds, gives him medicine, speaks to him softly.

How he makes him hot food, in a proper bowl with proper utensils, and even eats some of it himself, to not only prove that it isn't poisoned, but to show that it's a bowl he's willing to eat from. That it isn't something he'd give to a pet.

How he's completely fine with Pete having a book to read, until Pete says something that makes him lash out.

How he gave Pete a chance to escape, to leave him, instead of dying under his hands, like all his hedgehogs. Like the one he holds in his hands when he leaves him the key.

The way he sits like his strings have been cut, mourning the last hedgehog, and knows that Pete will be gone by the time he's brushed himself off and gone back inside.

Because "Everything that I love has left me."

Except Pete.

Because Pete doesn't, no, can't leave Vegas while he's suffering.

He was given the perfect opportunity to leave, to go back to the main family, to escape Vegas.

And instead of grasping that opportunity with both hands, he stays. He sees Vegas, alone and in mourning, and decides that he can't leave him.

He gives Vegas an ear, lends his metaphorical shoulder to cry on, because he wants to help ease his suffering.

He sits with Vegas as he gives the hedgehog a little funeral, handing him flowers to lay atop the grave. (If I'm not mistaken, the flowers are plumeria flowers, which have various meanings, one of them being new beginnings.)

When Vegas stands and walks away, Pete follows.

Pete says he doesn't know why he didn't run away, but I don't believe that. I don't think Vegas really believes that, either.

And Vegas opens up to Pete. He tells him about the hedgehogs, about his battle to care for them and keep them alive, and how he failed. How they died over, and over, and over. How he doesn't have any left. How he didn't name the last one, because maybe it would hurt less when that one died too.

He tells Pete how he's always measured against the main family, against Kinn, and found lacking. How, no matter what he does, his efforts will never be noticed, never be given the same weight.

Pete tries to comfort him, tries to stop him from hurting himself.

Okay, but Kinn trying to talk to Porsche while being 'patient and calm', and instead shrieking like a particularly grouchy alley cat in heat every two seconds? Fucking flawless?

And then trying to modulate his tone and volume, and ending up being so fucking cringe, because he's emotionally constipated and has no proper social skills to speak of, because he's never needed them? Immaculate?

Finally, Porsche being so fucking done with him the entire time, his face practically screaming 'fuck you and all you stand for and your stupid family' while not giving Kinn a single inch of anything, except more rope to hang himself with during this fucking disaster of a conversation? Priceless?

This is my third re-watch, and I'm still feeling so many things, but the overriding emotion this time?

Pure petty glee.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kinn, and I'm sure he'll get (some) of his shit together soon, but damn, bitch. I thought Porsche was our beloved disaster king, but Kinn's coming for his crown in this episode.

Finished The Eclipse. I honestly feel like I had the right instinct to tune it out the first time, but I do think it's interesting in that you can really see the baby steps GMMTV was taking to grow up a little bit.

You can really look at The Eclipse and see a show where it's clear GMMTV really diminished its potential with a lot of its own standards, and to their credit, I think they stood back and took a hard enough look at it, the BL environment in general, and how absolutely hard fans were calling out their bullshit and decided to get real with Only Friends.

The Only Friends cast is heavily indicative of this being the case. GMMTV was gunning for elevated talent that knew how to play ball, and Neo, First, and Khao were all shining stars in The Eclipse, that blasted their scene partners out of the water. Force and Book are intensely unique, as they've always been shafted with bad scripts and sexually repressed directors, despite the fact they came into the game with a lot more professionalism and comfort with the material they were handling. The director didn't wind up sobbing in the corner because they refused to move their mouths when they kissed. They're also a much more 'modern' ship, that doesn't default on yaoi contrasts and that weird seme/uke binary. After the success of KinnPorsche, and popularity of MileApo, I think GMMTV finally saw the potential in this pairing. About time.

But the casting is very indicative of GMMTV kind of telling fans, "We've been listening, we hear you, and we're making changes." Only Friends corrects a lot of complaints the fandom has been having.

Adults, for example, don't have much in this genre. Part of the reason The Eclipse fell short for me is it's just another damn coming of age drama. Great for the baby gays, but the adults are over it. GMMTV gave us Neo eating Mark's ass like groceries then getting godless with Force in the backseat of a car, and I'll live 10 years on that alone.

The plot contrivances they have to cook up to keep everyone from doing anything but doing a cutaway kiss with no tongue in the final episode is no more, people are fucking nasty, so now there's room for actual plot, which is hilariously ironic. But also, it's not, because I mean the desire women have for horny softcore erotica with good plots and high production value is not unknown.

Queer women and bisexuals have been complaining about a lack of representation. At the core of these yaoi tropes is a world where bisexuality has no meaningful distinction from being gay, which is really annoying, because bisexuals have a much different experience in the queer community, and that's not reflected in a world where X amount of interpersonal communication can magically turn anyone gay. Queer women just don't exist in BL. Women are all straight virgins trying to steal your man. Only Friends has lesbians. Actual FDA approved lesbians. Are they fucking nasty? No, but it's something. We are allowed to exist in the world of Only Friends and that's HUGE.

People have been complaining about the cringe. Only Friends removed that and replaced it rage provoking stupidity by the characters, and I approve of that.

Anyways, analysis is what I do for a living. TV is well within the ballpark. So while I'm only basing my thoughts on what I've observed and not cold hard numbers, there's only so much insight I can provide, but it's insight backed by years of experience. With Only Friends posting absolute numbers, we can expect to see some structural changes at GMMTV on the horizon, because this is going to create growth. Probably even stimulate a search for new actors to get on their roster, since they have a lot of actors that won't be able to deliver going into the new era. I also think this is going to help them land sponsorships from atypical brands, which is BIG. Mile getting Maserati on board for KinnPorsche is part of what allowed it to exist in an elevated form.

I also think the success is going to result in a shake-up with the quality of writers they hire, because that's at the core of a lot of issues in BL. They adapt these novels from these absolutely unhinged lunatics, these lunatics have WAY too much creative power despite the fact they're low brow porn writers, and it kills the quality of a finished product. America doesn't do that. Directors have the power to elevate material, and that's important. GMMTV got a proper writer for Only Friends, and it paid off in a big way. Mame is one of the names I hate in BL the most. Her goo-goo gaga shit is creepy, I hate it, it makes queer people look bad, and I'm hoping writers like Jojo just drive her out of the scene.

Anyways, I'm going to end things here. I just wanted to share some random thoughts I had.

Look at that patented Theerapanyakul madness in Kim's eyes.

He successfully scared former inspector Manop. Well, a threat to your daughter's life (the one whose wellbeing you sacrificed normal life for) can do it to a man, sure. Even if you are a seasoned police chief.

Kim successfully scared some thugs. Well, a fist to your side and a bottle to your head can do it to a man, sure. Even if you are a seasoned punch thrower yourself.

Kim successfully scared this random guy. Random guy was either drunk enough or sure of himself enough that a kick from a stranger didn't impress him. He probably counted on his friends too (I don't think he registered clearly enough that they are drunk beyond help themselves).

But this stare along with the finger stopped him dead. That one he registered all right.

Kim delivers his point across with theatrical (hello Kinn, hello Khun, hello Vegas, hello Korn) lengths. He's not in a hurry. (As for us chickens viewers one eye is enough to get that point)

Now we have Porchay Sunshine Kittisawat who may know some soft side of Kim but can't be sure if it's real. What he is absolutely sure of is that Kim is the Kimhant Theerapanyakul with all the regal complimentary stuff like ruthlessness, deceit, power. Chay is yet to know that as a Theerapanyakul Kim is able to increase mortality rate in not so close range without breaking a sweat, but he knows enough.

Then Kim quite rudely dragges Chay to a side, and what we see, how Chay emerges from this humiliating manhandling?

Porchay Sunshine Kittisawat is in rage. The sun is about to go supernova. Porsche didn't raise a sucker.

Chay is too polite and still likes Kim to outright cuss him, but it is highlighted in every fiber of his being anyway: "Piss off, man!"

Kim must try again of course, because he is the son of his father and I don't mean Korn's protection (is that a thing, really?) I mean Korn's legacy.

So Kim scolds Chay. Chay doesn't budge and the finger comes out to play again. Unsuccessfully. Did it even happen to Kim before?

Epic fail.

There's more!

Make his own decisions, seriously? Kim, bb, you are here because Chay just did make his damn decision! Maybe the first one of such importance in his life.

Miscommunication happened, no shit.

But the fact is Chay wasn't... or maybe he was - scared, a little. More in shock probably. But he absolutely wasn't - stopped. He wasn't stopped by Kim, no matter the hard try. He wasn't intimidated.

He's a match, right? <3

Also don't forget truly wonderful KinnPorsche the series blocking.

Also Kim backed himself into a corner. Dark tight corner of the Hades with sulfur in the air and wails of sinners as elevator music (Hi, Khun Theerapanyakul! Going dooown?).

Kim ended being the one intimidated, finger or no finger.

Raw force of Chay's emotions scared him shitless. And that's when he was in absolute hurry to fuck off with his thinned dignity smouldering at the edges. If he were to come across Lethe along the way I bet he'd gladly dank himself in its cool waters to forget that.

this was fun as hell! truly cannot thank @vegaseatsass enough for getting me to watch it less than a month ago. really put in the work there, bb <3

shit i loved about episode 14:

vegas just out here wearing a silk pajamas shirt as a top like some kind of thrifty lesbian. more importantly, he warns porsche! he does care about him! (the alternate interpretation is that he's doing it for pete. honestly porque no los dos?)

the first time i watched the finale i was slightly stoned and upon seeing gun, whispered very sincerely to my wife, "that's how you can tell they're in the past. his ascot is smaller."

i'm so sorry, but the incest fake out is extremely funny to me

the audacity of korn to claim that he lost track of porsche and porchay when they are still living in their parents' house. unless he straight up forgot they existed for the last ten years, he damn well knew.

lol kim would rip chan's throat out with his teeth fiven five minutes.

my hottest take for this fandom is that i think porsche was always in the family, he just didn't know. so going from being totally in the dark at the start to being in a position where he can do something about it is strongly hopeful. gun and korn's fucking around has finally been found out, which means porsche and kinn can start their own fucking around.

my second hottest take is that i don't think it really matters which brother shot his dad. i think the years long captivity of his mom is the much worse thing.

actually it's very hot of kinn when he starts shooting at board meetings. the subtle red stripe to his suit is such a chef's kiss moment. i love that he really hasn't killed a ton of people, which makes this moment a little bit shocking.

what in the bougie ass head camp counselor fuck is this war outfit, gun?

i'm! on! your! side! and that, i think, is why korn has, at bare minimum, not totally won. yes, he is masterful at pulling the strings, but he's dealing with people not puppets and there is inherent unpredictability (and incest apparently) in that.

kinn getting in one last grope in case he dies and this is his last chance. the hug/dance/shooting sequence is a work of art.

the saddest thing about vegas is that kinn has consumed so much of his interior life and kinn doesn't really think that much about him at all. also the panic in kinn yelling "don't" is great for me personally, known enjoyer of hot men suffering.

oh shit we've come full circle and we're running through parking garages again! somewhere in the hospital where big is definitely alive he just rolled his eyes and doesn't know why.

"if i die today, could you be the one to kill me?" DERANGED (positive)

"because i'm hungry"/"are you very hungry" once again my soul exits my body and flies toward the sun. the way vegas's voice breaks on "why did you follow me?"

can you imagine what the other mafia families in the world make of this shit? korn's nephew taking power, also fucking korn's son.

it's actually very funny that most of the time kinn and porsche are fucking it's to the soundtrack of kinn's baby brother singing a song about porsche's baby brother.

i find tankhun sending that photo really fucking pointed and i love that about him

and finally, macau's response of, "i was eavesdropping obviously" is the exact little brother energy i appreciate in this family.

obvi the next step for vegas and pete is getting vegas to understand that someone can be both the most important person in the world to you and also a beloved pet.

I think (I THINK) I have caught up on most of the commentary on The Promise, episode 6, which I was behind on yesterday because WEDNESDAYS ARE HARD RIGHT NOW, THANKS THE EIGHTH SENSE (I have decided to skip the Our Skyy 2 episodes of the series that I didn’t watch, and binge ‘em later). I’m especially following @respectthepetty‘s tag and @heretherebedork‘s tag (I didn’t realize @dribs-and-drabbles was watching this, and I’ll peep your tag when you catch up next week!)

I’m especially influenced this week by @bengiyo’s excellent critical commentary -- very necessary commentary for a cishet gal like me to read -- about what Phu represents from a queer culture perspective, and how Our Dating Sim did this same paradigm far more successfully and succinctly. The running away, the disappearing, the coming back, and what it all means.

I think one ground rule I’m operating on for The Promise now is that Khom Kongkiat/Uncle Tong really needs to sell this skincare shit, so it’s a long-ass series, and we just didn’t need to deal with that as much in KinnPorsche because there was SO MUCH GOING ON in K/P/Vegas/Pete/Kim/Khun/general mafia world. And I wonder if Uncle Tong is struggling a tad to sell these products while needing to fill static air.

All that said. I’m an old biddy whose family hails from a similar kampung/village situation as Nan and Phu. I really still like this show.

I happen to like the slow and quiet pace! I’m always a defender of a slow trudge towards change. Because...

These guys are what, in their early 30s?

Every decade of getting older makes making behavioral change happen a little bit easier. (I certainly entered my early middle-age season with a lot less fucks to give, for damn sure -- but I had to live my previous decades to get there.) 

Phu disappeared for 10 YEARS, after college, so all of his twenties and a little of his thirties. Then he comes back to Bangkok, to Nan. One would hope: Phu’s come back older and wiser. Sure, maybe. Kinda not. Kinda sorta. 

Even after 10 years, I’m not going to expect someone who RAN THE HELL AWAY to know what to do, to know what to say, to Nan, and to manage his (Phu’s) own feelings of fear. Phu’s solution in his 20s was to run away. In his early 30s, he’s inched back, but doesn’t know how to cross that finish line -- YET. I don’t see how Phu lived a life during that time that would have given him an answer of how to deal with his situation with Nan. He still doesn’t know! He’s still paralyzed by fear. Your 20s are a really confusing time! You’re working through all the shit of your childhood and teenage years. 

Imagine smoking your entire life, and trying to quit. Trying all sorts of shit. Changing that behavior is REALLY HARD. It can feel IMPOSSIBLE. Same with dieting, same with exercise. It is REALLY HARD TO CHANGE BEHAVIORS AND PARADIGMS.

Phu, in his 20s, on the eve of graduation, really gave into his desires that night in the dorm room. That was a hell of a kiss -- that was the longest version of the kiss that we’ve seen. And Nan fell backwards, drunk, only with the words, “You promised never to leave me,” and passed out. Phu didn’t know what to do or what to say -- how to tie that knot again, outside of the specter of getting drunk and releasing inhibitions. That wasn’t a part of his paradigm back then.

So as an old biddy, a social worker, a sympathizing mom: I unfortunately still feel for Phu. Because at least in my real life, I’m surrounded by people who haven’t been able to surmount big emotional obstacles for their entire long-ass lives, and I see that as real-real reality. People who can’t work because of their fear of failure. People with agorophobia who can’t leave their rooms or houses. 

I sure hope this fictional skincare commercial resolves differently. I think it will. Granny’s picked up on what’s going on. She’ll put together why Phu asked her to lie to Nan all those years, if she hadn’t already way back when. She’ll flirt it up with Nan to get on Nan’s good side. Nan’s STILL poking about Melbourne. He’s not going to drop it. He’s got support from Party and Gigi. Party’s ready to catch Nan if Nan finally decides to cut ties. 

But: Nan sees Phu in pain. I know the majority read on that nightmare scene is -- why should we sympathize with Phu? I totally get it.

From Nan’s perspective, I think it’s more complicated. It’s not black or white. Nan grew up with Phu.... so Nan might have a better sense than all of us that Phu might just really suck at solving problems, and is paralyzed by fear. Even Granny confirmed it, and asked Nan to be there for Phu.

Right? Phu does suck at solving problems. It was Nan who needed to close the deal on the coffee shop joint. It’s Nan that had to help Phu get over his fear of crowds to shoot a successful campaign.

I think these dudes are balancing each other out. I see it right now as VERY imbalanced in Phu’s favor, holding Nan hostage, and my heart is with Nan. Nan has needs, too.

But Nan... can’t help but continue to be there for Phu, to hold Phu, to let Phu hold Nan. Nan can’t help his shit, either. I’m not going to judge or blame him, because he has his needs, too. We’ve all been in his shoes.

Two dudes who can’t help their shit, who keep coming back to each other. The old gal in me -- maybe like Granny! -- says, let them figure their shit out. This unnecessary crap pain they’re feeling: they need to make their mistakes in order to get to their happiness. I’m not ever going to push anyone to behave perfectly, either in real life or in dramas, except when the scripts utterly suck (cough cough UMG cough). 

Sell the stem cell shit, Uncle Tong, keep doing your thing for your funding. The series is a little too long for us to hold out THIS LONG for Phu, but I think, for all the obstacles this series is facing, that Khom is treating these two with as much compassion as the script can handle at this moment. It CAN’T LAST FOR THAT MUCH LONGER. Phu has GOT to start barking. If it lasts past the next episode, then I think we lose patience and timing altogether.

But maybe, maybe, I trust in Khom to get us past Phu’s confession, because we’ll only have three episodes after that to witness what Nan decides. And Nan CERTAINLY deserves ALL THE FUCKING TIME HE NEEDS to decide how he’ll deal with Phu to the end of the series.

FINGERS. CROSSED. It’s on you, Uncle Tong! Get the timing right, otherwise, yes, we will have to peace tf out.

I like that this episode opens and KP have spent the night together. It just shows a little bit of relationship growth.

I enjoy how hard P is working to make their day memorable. Date days like that are so fun, especially at the beginning of a relationship. And they are worth so much more the longer you're together.

Um, there are too many...but I think the one that fucking got me on the first watch was when Jiang Yuelou shot Chen Yuzhi and then had a literal fucking breakdown about it. I was already sobbing because like "JIANG YUELOU, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" but then when you realize that it was all a dream and that they fucking planned it, I'm like..."I hate y'all. Fuck y'all, made me lose my god damn mind". But also seeing how absolutely fucking distraught Jiang Yuelou was when he thought that he had actually killed Chen Yuzhi...fuck me up man. My god. Mao Zijun deserves all the awards for that

As we all know, I ship the usual ships, Jiang Yuelou/Chen Yuzhi, Zhan Junbai/Yu Tangchun as well as Sun Yongren/Song Rong, and Zhong Yiren/Chu Ran. As for Liu Li and Chu Min, I see them more as like Zhan Junbai and Yu Tangchun's kids, so to me, they're siblings, not romantic.

I still think Jiang Yuelou and Wang Meng would make...maybe not good friends, but they could be good allies. They'd get along (maybe) for Chen Yuzhi's sake. And of course, the Chaotic Police Siblings (Jiang Yuelou & Jin Dacheng). I really enjoy their friendship

Hey, it's the Anon-who-started-Kinnporsche again ^^

Ok so I wasn't planning to drop a comment everytime I watched an episode lol but I just finished episode 6 and you were right damn it was so good! I loved seeing them being so goofy with eachother and then also managing to have serious conversations, and that they had to learn to compromise and work together since they were literaly stuck together. One of the thing that stood out the most for me was how well balanced the episode as a whole was, as in it started in a pretty humorous way despite their situation and it gradually became more and more serious, the same way they gradually got more "serious" into their relationship, which finally gave them the courage to actually talk about their relationship and for Kinn to apologize for his big fuck up. The contrast between the two rock paper rock cisors showcase so well imo (i literaly gasped when Porsche changed to scissors in the second one, like damn my boi !). And the symbolism with the handcuffs with Kinn learning to let Porsche go :((((((( I actually had seen this last scene in gifs, but damn I still wasn't prepared to be hit so hard like the actors' performance were so good!!

Also I remembered in episode 4 (I think), I loved the scene where Porsche tells Big off for expecting him to be shocked that Kinn is gay (and I was actually pleasantly surprised they actually adressed homophobia, as I initially thought that this was just the kind of fictional world where everyone is gay and no one cares, not that I wouldn't have liked that either lol). But I also felt so bad for Big bc he looked so devastated :( ? Was it because, as Kim had implied, he is actually in love with Kinn and thought "oh damn Kinn is gonna fall so hard for this guy and now I don't even have anything against him" ?

Ep 6 is honestly soooooo good. You're right, it's incredibly well balanced. And because the plot is driven by the progression of Kinn and Porsche's relationship, it's the show at its best.

Seeing them be goofy together! Yes! The best! And seeing Kinn just get to be himself and have fun with Porsche? Honestly so needed (for the viewer and Porsche) and gives you so much better an understanding of the mask Kinn has to put on daily to survive and to fulfill his family obligations.

Look at them! Happy babies!

I really love the way the show allows them room to talk and get to know one another. They have multiple conversations throughout different episodes where they open up. And ep 6 is one of the best examples with the fireside chat, and then again during Kinn's last apology and their talk about how they felt about having sex (and the way it happened). I think my mouth dropped open when Porsche changed his hand to scissors, and then I audibly gasped when Kinn easily released them from the cuffs lol. God, those were both such good reveals. Such a brilliant way of showing through their actions how deeply they had fallen for one another. And Kinn being able to let Porsche go, to essentially say, 'Your happiness is more important than my own' was one of the most beautiful moments of the series. As of course, was Porsche coming back. And you're sooooo right, Mile and Apo are brilliant in that final scene. I feel like big emotions played out by actors get a lot of attention, but subtly is far more challenging. Both of them play subtle emotions insanely well and it's on full display during that scene.

Omg Big. Um... ok. So I will just say that you won't ever get explicit confirmation or an answer to your question, but general fandom consensus is yes. Yes, it's very easy to conclude (as you'll see in future eps) that Big is in love with Kinn and recognized immediately that there was something between Kinn and Porsche. I will really look forward to hearing your thoughts when it comes to how Big's feelings play out. So I do feel during that confrontation in ep 4 that Big was almost hoping Porsche would be an asshole about Kinn being gay. And when Porsche tells him off, Big has this moment of thinking, 'Fuck' and knowing he stood no chance with Porsche properly in the picture.

Also, you know about the bonus hospital scene that comes right after ep 6 and before ep 7, yes? If not, it's HERE and you must watch it. It's the softest, sweetest shit ever.

Dear Kim Theerapanyakun. (a letter)

I admit, I have the very bad and cringe-y habit of writing letters to fictional characters, and you’re next on my list. (You are joining a pretty strange list of characters, such as Basil from The Picture of Dorian Gray, Castiel from Supernatural, and Sula from Sula, and I’m sorry about that.) I wanted to take some time and think about your character outside of the usual meta writing/fanfiction I do, and instead, in a really weirdly personal way, talk about myself and how I feel connected to someone who isn’t actually real, but depicted a very real problem within both our families: how loyal do you have to be to your family? 

A few years ago, I had to make the tough decision of leaving my family home. There were a lot of factors as to why, some of which I can’t talk about without revealing my identity, but the important aspect to note is that I’m from a culture (really, a family because not all of the culture is like this) in which women don’t leave their familial homes until marriage. They don’t venture off, live on their own, “find themselves,” or anything of that nature. They’re kind of expected to stay in their parents’ home, have a husband, then live with that husband, have kids, and start the cycle over again. So when I made the decision to leave all that I knew behind, I was incredibly alienated from not just my parents, but also my siblings, cousins, etc. 

No one understood what I was doing. Truthfully, I didn’t know what I was doing either. I just wanted to get away, and I think physically, I did. I wasn’t living there anymore, so I thought I got what I wanted.

When I started watching KinnPorsche, I instantly connected with how you, Kim, left the main house and distanced yourself from the mafia family (though, I admit, you have it a lot more rough than I do. My parents are trying to get me married, and your father is trying to gun down his brother opponents and control the Bangkok underworld.) To this day, even during the season finale, I don’t know what your motivations were for leaving, but I can tell you a few of mine: I was passionate about writing and education, I desperately wanted freedom, and I sought to define myself outside of familial labels. I like to tell myself that maybe some of my reasons are your reasons for leaving too.

I admit that I expected you to have a happy ending during this finale. I thought you would have solidified your freedom, maybe ran off with Porchay, or said fuck all to the main family for good. I expected that because to be honest, a lot of characters who are pulled in all directions due to their goals, passions, and family eventually end up finding a balance between all these facets of their lives. That’s the ultimate happy ending, isn’t it? To have everything?

Those stories are good stories, and those characters are great characters, but I never could relate to them. It’s been half a decade since I left, and I haven’t found a balance yet. My family leaves me to my isolation until shit hits the fan. Then I’m suddenly pulled into disaster that is my home, and when I am with them, I have to abandon all the other parts of me: my writing, my education, my identity, my career, in order to be part of this family that I can’t simply leave because of loyalty and responsibility that I don’t want nor should have. 

When I started writing about your necklaces, it hit me that you too struggle with loyalty, and that you too are pulled in all these directions. You have on so many hats: mafia prince, singer, certified badass, student, and, perhaps the most damning, son. I watched your necklaces change. Sometimes, I thought they were emblems of freedom. Other times, I watched them weigh you down, especially when you had to go back into your old skin. Regardless of what they mean, over these last few episodes, I’ve watched you abandon all those other parts of you because of the mafia, because of family.

And for the first time in a very long time, I didn’t feel quite so alone in my conundrum. I felt as if we were going through the same thing (even though we’re really not.) I felt oddly akin with you in your last scene. Just standing there with your guitar after you finished performing because you had to make a choice to leave the other parts of you behind in order to remain loyal to your family: something I am so familiar with.

Selfishly, after the finale ended, I felt relieved you didn’t get freedom or balance in your life because now I feel less lonely in my own imbalanced life. I feel like I’m not the only one going through it, is what I’m trying to say.

That doesn’t mean I hope you don’t get that balance or what you want. I hope you do, and I hope I do as well. I don’t want us to abandon our respective families because they are important to us. But I do hope you realize you can be loyal to others, like Porchay, too. In fact, I think I saw some of that budding loyalty when you sent him that video. And yeah, you kicked ass for him and protected him, but sending the video was something purely you. Your decision. Your feelings. You put them above the family for the first time. And even though rumor has it that you’ll be back in full swing with the mafia, I hope you can put yourself and your feelings and wants and who you are above your responsibilities to the mafia.

When I think of those moments in which you put yourself first, past and future, I find myself hoping that one day, I can be as brave as you are.

Porsche relishing...RELISHING the way Kinn completely fell apart in his hands is something that I can't get out of my head and I would like you to enjoy that with me. The twinkle in his eyes, his smirk... he knew exactly what he was doing and when Kinn moans "Porsche", like a prayer and a warning, it drives him to new heights.

But yes, let's talk about this!

I honestly cannot get that scene out of my head either, the way it started with Kinn calling the shots to then transition into Porsche being the one to hold the cards at the end; he ended up holding all of the best cards in the deck. Kinn almost falling to his knees, literally sinking lower and lower to the point where Porsche was looking down at him to meet his eyes with that elated and almost smug smile.

You're so right Anon, Porsche knew exactly what he was doing and I don't think he was prepared for the amazing effect that he had on Kinn, not expecting the result that he received to be so damn grand and Porsche definitely got high from Kinn's reaction to him. He revelled in Kinn becoming so unwound, so open in is reactions to his touch. Ecstasy overtaking both of them as Porsche drunk in Kinn's moans of his name and Kinn inhaling the rising excitement that was evidently filling Porsche.

Porsche was living for the fact that he was the one causing Kinn to breathlessly moan his name, straight into his own mouth. He was living for the fact that he was the one that was literally making Kinn breathless, causing him to get weak in the knees, to make his skin hot and his heart race uncontrollably. Porsche was getting high off it.

The twinkle in his eyes was constant throughout this scene, and I love that through most of this scene, even when Kinn had his eyes closed at some parts, Porsche's beautifully gleaming eyes never left Kinn's. Porsche wanted to take every single micro-expression on Kinn's face and drink him in. He wanted more and he gained more by fulfilling both of them.

This was just a single taste of the euphoria that KinnPorsche will fall into more in the future and it drives me insane thinking about it, it thrills me so much because if we're all losing our minds now, how the fuck are we going to survive the brilliant phenomenon we have yet to come?

okay, let me just say this:

It's so interesting how KinnPorsche's relationship started with a huge mistake: having sex under the effects of an aphrodisiac.

Let me elaborate about this:

*I didn't read the books

*I'm just a casual viewer of the series

*My only purpose is to comment the fictional story as what it is

Kinn feels a special attraction towards Porsche because his bright personality and how he lives recklessly and finds a way to be happy under any circumstances. Also, Porsche is someone who is free (even if he's sinking in debts), he has the chance to build up his own destiny and plans to do it. In some way, Porsche is what Kinn wishes he could be. Kinn is completely stuck in the family business, he lives with the fear of losing someone he loves, trusting someone too much or dying. Everybody wants him dead, so he can't trust anyone, and this isn't something new for him, this has been like this his entire life.

Beside what he wants for his own life, he seems to be the only man on the family who is qualified to take his father's place. He needs to prove his dad he can do it and control his emotions and his impulses so he doesn't make mistakes. As we all know, his self control isn't the strongest, so it's very hard for him.

Kinn doesn't really have anyone beside him, every person around him keeps a business relationship with him, even his father. So, the only person who is closer than that is his toy boy and he has to pay for his company and probably doesn't really care or like him that much. It's all fake.

Kinn finds Porsche physically attractive too, and finds his personality completely strong. Kinn is very afraid of him.

This is why I guess Kinn can't be completely honest or intimate with Porsche unless he's drunk. That way he feel less exposed or weak, that way he feels like he's in control.

Kinn is the weaker of the two. He feels himself defeated by Porsche and that's why his whole life is out of control since they met, he can't control his impulses and that's why he fails to replace his dad properly, and he can't stand up for himself and that's why he never dared to disobey his dad and accepted this life he doesn't want.

Finally, we arrived to the point of this whole post: the main conflict.

Kinn likes Porsche in a special way and he knows that could be used against him, and he probably feels guilty that Porsche has to suffer the consequences of that. Because of that, he feels the need to take care of him after he vomited. Kinn just wanted to help him clean up, he didn't have any sexual thoughts but he is so damn weak. He knew it was wrong, that it wasn't the best time, but Porsche (under the influence) was begging for it and Kinn couldn't resist even if he tried. He acted like an animal, he lost himself for the time they had sex, he was wild and passionate.

When he finally wakes up and understands what happened he feels so guilty and upset. Even when he tells Porsche about "saving him" last night you can tell he feels so fucking hypocritical because he didn't save him, he did what he tried to save him from.

Porsche feels humiliated, hurt and abused. Kinn feels guilty and hypocrital. Both know they should stay away from each other. They just can't.

Porsche felt something special that night, he can't erase that. What he really hates about that night is that Kinn took advantage of him. He can't really trust him because it seems like his attraction towards him is "uncontrollable"... And at the same time, he feels emotionally dependent of Kinn. He hates him but still wants to be special to him, because Kinn is special to him.

Again, the huge mistake is the key of their relationship.

Their relationship is based on impulsive actions. It's meant to be reckless and passionately. What they had that night was so damn intense that it became addictive: when they are high on themselves they feel the happiest even if that means they sacrifice the reality. And when they are apart they can't get any satisfaction.

What will stick them together would be the craving of feeling what they felt that night again.

It kind of hurts, damn!

ok so the chess scene with dad was real interesting Kinn has had a prior incident - seems there wasa previous staff or just person in general Kinn focused on to the detriment of “the family business” eldest and baby brother scene - I wonder if Kinn’s lapse in judgment was related to whatever kidnapping incident happened with Tankhun

consequences and gay thoughts/memories  ok, the fake out with Pete and Tankhun got me! damn, this is actually an immersive series for me

so Kinn and Porsche are not communicating clearly yet Kinn might be trying to get Porsche by more casual flings Porsche seems - hurt, affected - by it

omg KimWik did the thing! he flipped the paper!  I FUCKING CALLED IT!!! I honestly didn’t expect to see Porchay again except for like end of the season wrap up (have not read the novels) but I must say he’s surprised me with how likable he is this lil music tutoring to phish info from you scene is very cute so I’m guess it’s going to be tearfilled falling out with Porchay feels like he’s been used/betrayed

I like the cut to Kinn just being at the table with them very funny some good comedic bits in this episode Kinn is trying to be gentle but old habits I guess

oh, that was kinda sudden, like too sudden

anyway, chase scene, fight scene, cliffhanger 

very solid ep, looks like KP are going to really earn conflict resolution/communication and now they’re going to be chained together to do so so I expect some both trying to go the opposite directions and some I pull very hard on the chain to get you close to me bits

So this is a bit belated but I was tagged bye @ahdriking for

10 Fandoms, 10 Characters, 10 Tags!

I'm bad at tagging people but let's assume 10 people will see this and they should all consider themselves tagged! ;)

This is so difficult! Characters and their stories go in one side and out the other unless they really strike a chord with me. It's pretty rare that I remember them explicitly and even rarer to seek out fandom. However! I pulled together 10 characters that did mean the world to me so here we go!

Howl's Moving Castle - Specifically the absolutely wreck that is Howl Pendragon (book version is best but Ghibli had that clutterbitch aesthetic and I dig it). He's fussy, he's a bitch, he's got THE worst case of 'gifted child syndrome' and I love him. Also Sophie looks at him and thinks, "You could fix him? Well I can stoop to his level," and that's grand. Bad bitch solidarity.

Teen Wolf - I encountered this show and read fanfiction about this show before I watched the show. Thank god I did. The show has a definite campy quality and it fits the typical questionable taste of every CW show I've sat through, but STILES STILLINSKI makes it all worth it. Silly little ADHD boy who's literally the best friend ever (even if his loyalties often narrow down to the friend only and not the friend's loved ones) and no one in this show deserved him. Also Void Styles was just sofucljlsdkfjlsjkj.

Hannibal - While I love Will dearly, Mads Mikkelson's Hannibal Lecter made this show for me. I watched this with a friend and we cackled like crows every time he made a cannibal joke. His fashion is immaculate (and awful? but it works) and he openly murders homophobic assholes. What's not to like?

Sens8 - Can I consider them one entity? Just the whole entangled lot of them?? I love them so much. I love the dynamic of them being there for each other and connecting with each other across varied experiences, beliefs, and ideologies. I love them learning to cope together and becoming something greater than any one of them individually. If the polycule cluster doesn't count as one, then I'm going with Amanita. Who is decidedly not part of the cluster but is the best individual character with her 3 dads.

American Gods - So sticking to season one on this? I honestly didn't make it super far into season two and haven't seen a scrap of season three. Gossip would have me believe it was downhill from there but idk. Anyway. SALIM and his boyfriend sweater. Salim getting what he thought he always wanted and practically throwing it away because the Djinn/Jinn/Ifrit(?) railed him so good and he's in love. Did I mention his BOYFRIEND SWEATER???

The Untamed - I spent soooo much time in this fandom and I have a lot of feelings about a lot of the characters but most of all Lan Wangji. He's just so... everything. I related to him so much—to being misunderstood, to loving too hard and too impotently. There's a lot of tangled up feelings in him but I just love him.

What We Do in the Shadows - Guillermo de la Cruz, the badass hunter himself. His character arc from obsessed doormat to insane assassin (who is still kind of a doormat) and is now finally coming into his own... Ugh. I don't know if I want him to bag Nandor because he deserves whatever he wants or for him to finally finish growing out his spine like an amphibian and fuck off with his life because he honestly can.

Our Flag Means Death - Jim. Just Jim. They are feisty and sexy and intense and their relationship with Oluwande is so sweet. Their story meant a lot to me and to other folks I know. While a lot of us have stories that don't go so smoothly (their friends accepted them with only a few questions, their parental figure accepted them with barely a blink, and their love interest never gave a damn either way) I think it's so beautiful to see a world where coming out just... goes right. I mean, sort of. Fingers crossed for season two.

Kinnporsche - I love all of them and I want to bundle them up in little terrariums and keep them on my shelf. Porsche is my favorite though, so he would get extra yard time. In the same vein as why I like Jim's story, I love how Porsche's story was handled. He and Kinn really do have some of the best chemistry I've ever seen and Porsche just fills space so beautifully and it was great to see him begin to come into his own.

The Sandman - This one's a bit different. I liked the show well enough but I'm not sure I'd really say I'm in the fandom? I don't find myself desperately wanting more beyond just "next episode" but that could be because Kinnporsche has me by the throat. Except Lucifer Morningstar portrayed by Gwendoline Christie is just so stunning that I want her to do anything to me. This is just pure, unadulterated lust. You should see her boots. I also really want a crossover of her Lucifer with Tilda Swinton's Gabriel because they would be the best snide siblings.
