(I thought she had a nice rasp that worked for Rangi. I think both guys, Brian Drummond and Brad Swaile, who Yun represented worked for him as well tbh fjskldfj Also that first clip, woof. :'D haha that's how the lake scene went right? no? kinda just mor aggressive? :'D)
rating the Flying Opera Company members on how well they'd spot you on bench press
Kyoshi: 8.5/10. Strong, reliable, encouraging. Keeps track of your reps and helps you put away your plates when you're done. Gets a little bit distracted when Rangi is working out nearby, though. Needs a strained "don't got it" to snap back to focus every so often.
Rangi: 7/10. A great and knowledgable spotter, but will offer unsolicited and granular critique on your form that might turn into a 15-minute lecture. Resting bitch face makes it initmidating to approach her and ask for a quick spot, but it's worth it.
Kirima: 5.5/10. Not really interested in spotting you, but will (a bit begrudgingly) if you ask. Stares you down while you lift, silent. Will let you sweat for a few seconds if you can't make the press before she assists, to assert dominance.
Wong: 9.5/10. You're safe in his hands. Can curl the bar with one hand if you fail a rep. Conversely, doesn't hesitate to yell at you to do one more rep if he knows you have it in you. Offers both encouragement and advice. Warms up with your working weight, so you don't even have to put any plates away when you're done with your sets.
Lek: 4/10. Is just overly excited to be asked. "Yeah, I got this!" (He might not have this.) Stands close and yells "LIGHT WEIGHT" when you lift off. Grabs your last rep halfway up and tells you "that was ALL you, ALL YOU." (it wasn't all you.) But he's sweet and genuine and it's hard to be frustrated with him when he's all hyped up.
Lao Ge: 1/10. I wouldn't risk it. If the bar crushes you--it's probably on purpose.
Theese designs r not final just messy sketches of my image of them in my head
(shh i know lek has a head wrap instead of just a headband and also more earth kingdom looking outfit but like i said theese r sketches dont judge me 😭)
headcanons
And shit in my head that influenced my designs
I wanted kirima to have a wolfcut because of the "wolf-like features" thing but that isnt exactly possible. Despite living mostly in the earth kingdom, I still do beleive how she does her hair is heavkly influenced by the water tribes
lek's head cover is supposed to look like si-wing tribes type of thing. I didnt plan on making HIS WHOLE OUTFIT based kn si wong but like... i'll make em more earthy in the future i swear-
Mmmmm thinking about how Kyoshi and the flying opera company kept in touch after the events from the second book
Because she didn't reach out to them until the finale, I think that'd change later or at least for a while, then she'll get busy and it's gonna be just the same as in the second book until one day they somehow reunite again
(But I'm too tired speak with sense, anyone has any headcanons for them?🙏)
Just saw a post where someone described how they choose to pronounce the names in the Kyoshi novels and I'm pissed off now. THE most American interpretation I've ever seen
kirima: Guess what number I’m thinking of.
wong: 420?
kirima: No, that’s really immature of you. Someone else guess, and please take this seriously.
lek: 69.
kirima: Yeah it was 69.
rangi: I'm gonna need a human skull but you can't ask why.
lao ge: Only if you also don't ask why.
lao ge: pulls four pristine human skulls out of their bag
rangi: …
rangi, grabbing a skull: This one will do.
lek: How do tall people possibly sleep at night when the blanket can't possibly cover you?
kyoshi: yun, it's four o'clock in the morning.
lek: So, you can't sleep, huh? Is it because of the blanket?
hei-ran: That's it, you're grounded! rangi, no kyoshi for you! kirima, no stealing for you! And kyoshi… oh my god, is there anything that you love?
kyoshi: Revenge.
hei-ran: No vengeance for you.
kyoshi: I was going to say "I'll get you for this," but I guess that's off the table.
hei-ran: You get turned back into a baby but you retain all your skills and memory, what do you do?
rangi: Eat a nickel.
hei-ran: A reminder: You have retained all your skills and memories.
kirima: Eat a nickel.
hei-ran: Ok.
*kyoshi is considering cancelling plans, and rangi and lek are advising them on what to do*
rangi: Just don't go.
lek: Say you’re ill!
rangi: Pretend to break your leg.
lek: Really break your leg!
rangi: If this plan goes down the drain, where should we regroup?
kyoshi: The afterlife, I guess.
yun: I ran into rangi in the kitchen at 1 AM last night and when I asked them what they were doing, they just shrugged, said “these are my roaming hours,” and wandered off, strumming vaguely on their guitar.
kyoshi, proudly: I slept.
hei-ran: Is that so much of a rare thing that you have to say it?
yun: Don't joke about murder. I was murdered once and it offends me.
hei-ran: So, rangi is no longer allowed to take the trash out at night.
kyoshi: Why?
hei-ran: Because I've caught them trying to train raccoons to fight five times in a row.
rangi, arms crossed and pouting: You'll be thanking me when the third raccoon battalion saves your a--.
Another sneak peak for @kyoshi-era-week-24!! This one is one of my favorites and is currently the longest out of my fics. It also managed to somehow include all three prompts! Here’s Day 1: Team Avatar/Found Family/Daofei!

“Auntie Kirima!” Koko shouted, running over and throwing her arms around her with an enormous grin on her face. At the beginning, Kirima hadn’t been exactly thrilled about being anyone’s “aunt”, even unofficially, but the nickname—and the rowdy five-year-old—had grown on her.
“How’s my favorite niece doing!?” Kirima asked as she swung Koko around. Okay, so sue her, she liked the kid. What about it? “Still giving those moms of yours trouble?”
“Always,” one of said moms responded as she trotted up to join them. Koko giggled and Rangi shot Kirima a grin. “Nice to see you again. What’s with the hold-up? Wong got here hours ago.”
“A guy was bothering me at the next town over,” Kirima shrugged. “He kept saying that I owed him money, but I told him that if he was stupid enough to buy me a round of drinks and expect something out of me without even asking if I wanted any first, then I didn’t owe him sh—”
Rangi silenced her with a pointed glare and two hands held over Koko’s ears. “Not in front of the baby.”
