These movies are A LOT. But that is by design. You don't put Hitler riding a T-Rex on the moon by accident. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

These two B-movie-ass-looking are somehow Finland's most expensive films ever made, which somehow just adds to the hilarity of the whole endeavor. I definitely liked the original one more so let's start there.

It's all the way in the distant future (2018) and the Nazis, having secretly escaped earth at the end of WWII, have set up shop on the darkside of the moon. A Sarah Palin-like American President is vying for reelection and so she sends an African-American model on a "BLACK to the MOON" promotional gimmick. There is satire and then there is this: something so goofy and overt that it nearly renders any/all commentary moot. But I did find the humor in this amusing to a degree. This was a nice Dr. Strangelove homage? Sure...

I mean, it's a little different because it features a Black man who has been cosmetically turned white against his will and now looks like nearly identical to that Wayan Brothers movie...

The plotline surrounding the idea that the Moon Nazis' discovery of this guy's iPhone and its computing power allowing them to complete their ultimate War Machine weapon is legitimately good satire. (Although the subsequent continuation of this thread in The Coming Race is one of that movie's worst ideas, and it's a real race to the bottom there.)

Look, I hesitate to say too much about either of these. I feel like just knowing the baseline plot is enough for anyone to decide whether or not they want to take the plunge into the Iron Sky Universe (apparently a third installment — featuring Andy Garcia (?!) — is coming out soon?) or not. Who knows. Look, I could appreciate both the humor (to a degree, not everything hits for sure), and the aesthetic (which is very bad! but bad in a way that I liked) but maybe I'm just a freak.

SCORE 6.5/10: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½

The crowdfunded direct sequel, Iron Sky: The Coming Race came out seven years later and despite featuring Udo Kier as Vril Adolph Hitler, it is easily the lesser effort. Also, somehow, despite being crowdfunded, it led to the bankruptcy of the Iron Sky Universe production company. I love the hubris that is attempting to turn this bonkers idea into a Marvel-like cinematic universe and I also love that it's completely imploded (but again: The Ark: An Iron Sky Story is apparently real so what is dead never truly dies?).

The main issue of this one is that is simply not funny at all. And that's a humongous problem when your movie is so clearly geared to function in that vein.

The legend Udo K. — reprising his role from the original in addition to playing the reptilian Hitler (this is loosely based on the Vril novel and ensuing conspiracy theories which is a whole 'nother can of worms) — has a ton more to do here which is one of the only things going for it. The only other real positive is that the action is ramped up to the nth degree, so you get stuff like Vril Osama bin Laden and Vril Pope Urban II riding wagon-pulling Triceratops off a cliff into a pit of lava and the aforementioned T-Rex/Hitler combo getting karate kicked to death by a blonde lady...

Even though they had a half decade to make this one, the writing is far more shoddy in every single way and there's no bigger example than the Tom Green subplot.

On the remnants of the partially destroyed Nazi Moonbase in 2049 (after nuclear war ruined the earth at the end of the first one — sorry, forgot to mention that detail), he leads a cult called the Jobsists formed around the teachings of Steve Jobs. It's like "remember the interesting stuff we did with Apple/iPhones in the original movie? Well here's some more 'satire' on that only it doesn't make any sense and isn't funny." It's a shame too because I was excited to see Green was in this. It just doesn't work at all.

Anyway, those are the two Iron Sky movies. The pride of Finland! I need to go take a shower.

[9:30]: "I love that the MELVINS were so heavily influenced by BLACK FLAG, who are kind of like hometown heroes for us at 9:30 Club. Tell me more about how you guys got into hardcore punk."

DALE: "Okay. Well, when I joined the band those guys, the other band members, were already into BLACK FLAG, a lot of the stuff that was on SST, of course a lot of the stuff that was on Dischord, and uh, stuff like that, which I didn’t really know anything about that stuff. I come from a very isolated, redneckish city where a really intense hardcore band would have been like, IRON MAIDEN. You know? That was intense and underground. So I know that Buzz pretty much grew up liking the same stuff I did.

We grew up in the seventies so of course we liked KISS, and AEROSMITH, and all that kind of classic rock kind of stuff. At the same time, because of CREEM magazine, CREEM always had those bands but also had bands like the RAMONES and SEX PISTOLS. So, they seemed like they kind of treated those bands the same, you know? Like hey, we can like AEROSMITH and also like THE STOOGES at the same time! So, I think from that, that’s probably how we got to discovering other underground stuff, like all the stuff that was going on on the west coast, especially here in Los Angeles.

BLACK FLAG, the MINUTEMEN, plenty of the SST bands. So, a lot of those bands eventually came to Seattle. It was a very small scene, probably even smaller than what was going on in DC, I’m sure. A lot of bands didn’t really come to Seattle, it wasn’t like a main stop, especially back in the eighties. But, a lot of the west coast bands did, and that, especially BLACK FLAG, was a big influence on us."

but while importing novhen, i forgot about the incredibly different status of elves in thedas vs the forgotten realms, so i did briefly interpret this line as profiling him instead of, say, the game clocking that he took thief for his class

Well, after more than 1 year I have finally watched the final episodes of the Resident

I shipped Conrad and Billie so everything was quite cute, they’re perfect together

Cade wasn’t my fav girl but her relationships with James Yamada have a great potential. And to be honest Ian Anthony Dale is so damn hot!

Randolph, my dear Randolph! This character has changed so much, his development is something insane. And I have no idea why the writers couldn’t leave him happy and healthy. Why? This illness, for what? This hospital and this job are everything for him, it’s his life. He deserved his happy end with Kit. I want to believe he’ll be okay

What a journey guys. 7 years. I’m so happy I had a chance to watch the Resident and to meet all these wonderful characters

"Like, I get football is also a brain game, you need to make up estrategies and stuffs... BUT THERE'S NO NEED TO LITERALLY USE YOUR HEAD WHEN SOMEONE'S BOOTS IS ALMOST IN THE WAY!" You yelled desperate grabbing his pillow and hugging yourself to it

"You can just use your foot, amor, ¿Sí?" You asked with a light smile "You're basically sending me to an early dead, like I shat my pants when I saw that. I didn't faint because God was having mercy on me, pero... HERMANOO" (BRO) You opened your arms wide open in disbelief watching a small smile come into his face

"Also" You continued "YOU DO WANT TO KILL ME BECAUSE I'M FREAKING IN LOVE WITH THE WHITE KIT AND OH MY GOSH!" You screamed into his pillow before letting it go "You looked absolutely ravishing like I wanted to jump on your bones everytime I saw you, which was basically everytime" You opened your eyes a little as if you were caught "You just seem like a wine, the older you get, the more sexier and handsome you are and I just can't take it!" You exclaimed looking at him

"And congratulations on the match today, you did so well, except the head onto the boot moment, I'm really happy you guys won, you deserve it" You went over to him and kissed his lips.

Even tho, Pablo was surprised with your outburst, he followed the kiss back passing his arms around your waist and pulling you into him, your lips molding into his and moving in sync.

"Did you just called me 'hermano'?" He asked in the moment you separated from him

"Is that all you got from my speech?"

"No" He smirked "I also got that you think I'm sexy and handsome each day passing and that you want to jump on my bones everytime you watch me" He wriggled his eyebrows a bit making you laugh "I want you to do that" He opened his arms dramatically "Anytime you want to" You laughed hitting his chest lightly

"Eres tonto" (You're silly) You said in between laughs making him smile

"I'm far from being your brother" He insisted, you laughed reaching up to kiss him again

"Estás dale que te pego, it was just the sprout of the moment! You know what I meant when I called you that way"

"No, I don't! Because you say hermano to your friends or to your brother and I'm not either of those!"

"You're right, you're my boyfriend" You say standing on your tiptoes and kissed him slowly hearing him hum a bit against your lips

"I am" He said proudly after you both separated from each other "And I'm so tired" He sighed moving the two of you to lay on the bed, you on top of him

"I can imagine, you were running around one place to the other and doing everything, Pablito. I really can't understand how you do it"

Pablo hummed leaving a trail of kisses down your neck as you smiled lightly "Weren't you just so tired a few seconds ago?"

"No with you by my side" You laughed "Can you tell me more of how good you think I look in the white jersey?"

"You egocentric ass" He laughs widely "You very well know how I feel about you in the White Jersey" He hums tongue sticking out to wet his lips

"It looks good on you too, mi vida. Mostly with my name on your back" You hum leaning up to kiss him

"That can be my name as well, one day; I've to wear it proudly" Gavi smiled widely nodding

"One day, it'll be"

"You're not getting away from the way you pushed your head into the other players boot, okay?"

"You looked absolutely beautiful tonight" He said inmediately hoping to get away from the long chat you'd have with him

"I know that. But don't try to sweet me up, Gavira" You said sternly but with a smile on your face "It won't work this time"

"I love you" He kissed your face "And I love how much you take care of me"

"I love you too" You kissed his lips "But, Pablo, you just can't believe yourself Superman!" He sighed

He knew what was coming and he only had to accept it and hear the lecture of needing him to be more careful, secretly loving it.
