It’s quite often we experience some knee pain due to the surrounding areas not the knee itself. Coach Steve gives a great tip & demo that can assist in relieving pain due to tightness.⠀ ⠀ Demo by: @steve_marinakis⠀ ・・・⠀ If you have knee pain then you probably need to mobilise the surrounding tissues around your knee joint. Using a lacrosse ball this is a great way to hit the trigger points just behind your knee where your hamstring and calf cross the knee joint. It allows you to hit upstream and downstream of the knee. It's also great way to target and release the calves up near the knee joint not just near the ankle as you normally would with most calf stretches. For this and other mobilisations check out Kelly Starrett's book- "Becoming a Supple Leopard"⠀ .⠀ 1️⃣ Wedge the ball behind your knee⠀ 2️⃣ work both the inside and outside of your knee using compression forces⠀ 3️⃣ Roll your foot around on the floor in every direction looking for trigger points. Movement, Muscles & Meridians: deep front line fascia and spleen The knee, again, seemingly the least liked posts every time on this series, but I’m still having fun and learning. First off, once again, we have zero acupoints at the knee joint itself. This is similar to the lateral knee where we don’t see much, shouldn’t see much, movement. Maybe a slight varus here at the medial knee for adaptability, but this is not a zone for movement. Maybe a little more if I invert my foot? Secondly, even though I have been focusing on muscles and fascia through these series, by the second post on deep frontline fascia, my focus has shifted. We’re in the yin zone, and has deeper insights I’ll get into in the . This lands me looking at the spleen channel and the great saphenous vein and (not pictured) some of the femoral group lymphatics. Between the two lines of fluids running towards the heart and around the myofascia, I can see the spleen channel like never before. Probably, totally wrong in TCM, but I’m an architect at heart, and in nature, form follows function. Energetics and structures are two languages of the same thing.
