Such a fun little game once you know the different Raggedy Ann dolls and their eras is spotting them in movies and knowing that whoever chose the prop just went "yeah this is a doll that's been around since the 1910's this is accurate" not realizing/caring that there are major design differences between eras.

Like in Little Shop of Horrors, Audrey has a Knickerbocker doll on her bed. But if the show is to be set in the early 60's, it would have been a Georgene. Still, they had to go out of their way in the 80's to get a pre-'73 Knick.

Slightly more noticeable is in A Christmas Story, supposedly set in the 30's or 40's. Those there are later knickerbockers! Which would have been in active production when the movie was being filmed. So there wasn't even an attempt made to get vintage dolls.

This isn't to criticize the props people, I know that can be a lot of work and little details like this just aren't necessary for the general public! But I see them lol. We notice.

I made jelly nougat this yr :^D Oh I am so happy it turned out. It was super simple, quick & cheap too (just white chips, mini marshmallows & dots candy). You could make so many other holiday alternatives by perhaps adding extracts to flavor it differently. I would love to make a peanut butter one, maybe a bday cake one (with rainbow sprinkles) and a valentines day one (with heart shaped gummies). Unfortunately the woman who made the tutorial for it on YT said something transphobic (in another one of her baking videos) so I now legally own the rights to the recipe and I am the keeper of the jellynougat.

MORE TREATS. How I love my treats (I have a sweetooth if it wasnt already obvious). Also made homemade poundcake (simple and cheap as well), and butter cookies w cranberries and walnuts. Yrly staple. We celebrate non-religiously so the day is just chinese takeout and some movies. I will be frank with you Xmas is not one of my favorite holidays, for many reasons; it used to be (when I was a kid & believed in magic) but I am more of a Halloween fan now (and practice evil magic). Hugs to those with extremely small families/not much family left 2 be cozy with. Look under ur doormat (I left some gingersnaps). I love traditional European cookies so much. Lebkuchen w apricot filling is so delicious (I got those for free).

Last but certainly NOT LEAST IS MY KNICKERBOCKER GINGERBREAD GIRL!!!!!! A NEW HOUSEHOLD ADDITION!!!!!! SHE WAS ON FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE FOR 15 BUCKS, I tried to negotiate for 10 but sometimes u gotta pay childsupport. 15 it is. Ive wanted one for so so long and I jumped at the chance to get her. She had a dead waterbug on her and the seller and I exchanged money in the parking lot of a 7/11 like an xmas drug deal. She's haunted by all 3 spirits from a Christmas Carol and I love her with much fervor and merriment.

Happy xmas, hanukkah and early kwanzaa to those who celebrate, and have a happy day to those who do not :^) I wish you care and joy no matter how small. New years is upon us. I must prepare my yearly xmas Nermal from Garfield photo. It keeps us all safe Merry evilmas to all and to all a good fright.

needing help identifying the one on the right! lefty is obviously a knickerbocker but i’m so stuck on the right. my best guess is a georgene..?? but it doesn’t look quite right

thanks for the ask! the right is probably a knickerbocker as well; knickerbocker raggedys had multiple variants over their two decade lifespan, whereas georgene raggedys had two distinguishable variants and playskool raggedys were pretty uniform. knickerbockers and playskools have very similar faces, too, but playskools usually have larger noses and slightly darker- almost tan- skin fabric.
