Both Shaolin virtues and Confucian principles are guiding lights for ethical conduct, but they stem from different philosophical backgrounds.

Shaolin Temple, far from just a martial arts school, is steeped in the rich tapestry of Buddhist philosophy and is considered the cradle of Chan (Zen) Buddhism in China.
This Buddhist foundation deeply influences and shapes…

an Our Life: Now and Forever AU
Every once in a while, when I wake up, I find myself crying.
Whatever dream it was that I had, I can never quite recall; the feeling that I've lost something lasts for a while afterwards.
I'm always searching for something—someone. This feeling has taken over me since that day.
The day the stars came falling.
It was alike a scene from a dream. Nothing more, nothing less than a breathtaking view.
QIU "AUTUMN" LIN— a proclaimed city kid. And not just any kid at that: they were the one to take center stage, the one to reach out; Autumn made themselves ever-present in the hearts and minds of many. At fourteen-years-old and at the tippy top of their list of childish ideals was the very concept of "trying". While they rebuffed nearly anyone and everyone who dared to wish for time in their presence, if Qiu didn't like someone, chances are slim to none that'd be changing.
TAMARACK BAUMANN— for the longest time in her life, she has always found beauty within the forest. However, from once a girl who took life by its horns and rode to seize each day impulsively was now a lady. A lady who drew to life with great delicacy, i.e., she was always walking on eggshells. Tamarack lacked the certainty she used to. What bits and pieces were truly "Tamarack"? Maybe all, maybe none. She hadn't managed to convince most people that there was a clear picture they could accept and understand as "her". Probably because she didn't understand herself either.
TEASER I !! I rewatched the movie a couple lot of times just for this ‼️ Some parts may look like they were from the actual thing, thanks to this doc that I found online and yes, Tamarack and Qiu's intros come from the actual game lolololol. This was also originally supposed to be my entry for @/goldengroovy's onlf week for day 1 or kaya day 7 ^^ kaso alam kong tatamarin ako masyado para magpaka consistent hshsaha
I'm honestly unsure if it's intentional, but the way feater's artist draws her and gives her a pretty variable body type makes me smile. Not in a 'hehe horny' way but a 'yeah that fits a Hong Kong martial arts superstar' way.
here's the super glam, fit as fuck, Bruce Lee bod in the prime of her work. Literally sculpted for the camera, lost 20 pounds for this role, etc. Then we got the look when she was trying to shove banquet scenes in every flick she did where she's noticeably larger everywhere
and then by the era of rhodes she's bulked up and definitely more practical than anything, obviously not worrying about looking good for Reunion or whatever
(Not that she isn't still gorgeous)
It's definitely very true to Hong Kong actors who seem to kind of just choose on a day by day basis what they need for filming. Just look at yuen qiu with 14kg of difference (of Kung fu hustle fame, peer to sammo hung and Jackie Chan who ALSO can be pretty chunky if they don't need to be otherwise)
Yuen Qiu (Chinese: 元秋; born 19 April 1950), is a Hong Kong actress and martial artist. She is an expert of both Chinese martial arts and Beijing-opera skills, and was apprenticed at the Peking Opera School under the same master, Yu Jim-yuen, as Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung.
What will Liu Quitian’s life be like if her mom never died
i've already answered this ask about what her mom would have been but i think i can go a little deeper for this au.
so, Analyn Danao/Lin Liqiu, Qiu's mother. would be more like Camilla Noceda from the owl house. except she's divorced and made sure to cut off contact with her ex-husband's family while also making sure her and her daughter lived well.
Qiu's way of meeting mac would still be the same, stealing ancient artifact that belonged to her family in the middle of the night while her mom was at work, getting cursed and now she has to hide that fact from her mom while she's training to be a warrior.
Qiutian would still view Mac as a father figure, in comparison to her father, Tao Xuan (who instead gave her both trust issues and abandonement trauma like the father of the year he is)
in the sub-au , qiu still lives with her mother while occassionally staying over at macaque's to train or just hang out.
and no, Analyn does Not like Macaque. it's a one-sided situation-ship where mac is trying to appear as a good role-model for the kid and honestly not get his ass served to him.
think of it as how pigsy views wu kong, except he's even more protective of mk and ready to pick violence the second swk slips up.
