Eren's messy bun bobbed as he half-jogged, bent a little at the waist to accommodate the tiny girl running beside him. She grasped his hand desperately, her fist looking minuscule wrapped up in his. A pastel yellow gift bag bounced at her side, the polka-dotted tissue paper that poked out tickling her arm.

"C'mon, baby, your mom's gonna be pissed!" he huffed.

The little girl gasped up at him, "no swears!"

Eren apologized and shuffled the girl along, up the driveway and to the front door of your house.

It had been a year since you moved into it, and Eren had visited quite a few times already, but it still felt so foreign, even with his daughter's sloppy handprint plastered on the mailbox in purple paint.

He dodged the bundle of balloons taped to the porch column and eyed the front door, whereas the boisterous little girl beside him simply marched right in -- it was her home, after all.

You gazed through the kitchen window, watching the activities taking place in your lush backyard. A few adults were setting up a sort of relay race, setting markers in the grass, while a handful of kids chased one another around with colorful water guns. The day was roaring along, but you couldn't help but check your phone every few minutes, wondering where the hell Eren was with your daughter.

A warm hand on your waist snapped you out of your reverie. Compassion seeping from every pore, Armin peppered a few kisses across your cheek and pulled your back into his chest. He gently laid a palm over your rounded belly and hummed into your ear, "they'll be here soon, don't worry."

Leave it up to Eren to be late to your freaking baby shower.

Almost on cue, a screech rang out through your kitchen, making the both of you jump out of your skin.

"Mommy!" the wild animal you knew as your daughter crashed into your side, making Armin brace you before you tumbled.

"Olive, honey, you gotta be careful with mommy, remember?" Armin chuckled a little, affectionately pulling the girl in for a little group embrace. She nuzzled her face into your hip and laid a feather-light kiss over the side of your plump belly.

Eren watched from the doorway. Silently, he plucked up the gift bag Olive had dropped in her excitement and fiddled with the handles in his large hands. He felt out of place despite explicitly being invited, multiple times, not only from his best friend but from you as well.

Sensing eyes, you tilted your head and caught the brunette peeking.

"Look who decided to show up," you mused, tone and smile teasing him, "you almost missed the cake."

Armin followed your gaze and beamed at his lifelong friend. Olive dashed off and out the back door, deciding to tackle her favorite Auntie Pieck in a monstrous hug, leaving her parental figures to their own devices. Eren shrugged nonchalantly, though it tugged harshly in his chest to watch you turn and face him -- your summery dress hugged your pregnant belly in such a sweet way. He sucked a deep breath through his nose as Armin approached for a hug.

Eren forced himself to smile through the games, the music, the food. Truthfully it would've been a fun little day if it weren't for his lingering melancholy. He smiled fondly at his daughter, who gave him a gap-toothed grin as she ran past, busy being chased by Jean and Mikasa's son in an aggressive game of tag. With the kids preoccupied, it gave you a chance to sneak away, opting to shuffle to the kitchen and refill one of the drink coolers. Eren's legs sprung to action before he could even think it through.

The quiet of your kitchen was a stark contrast to the chaos outside. He could hear you humming along to the song playing just past the sliding door, bent at the waist as you loaded drink after drink from your fridge to the blue cooler. A pained gasp interrupted the melody, with you gripping at your back, and Eren found himself next to you in an instant.

"Here, let me." he ushered you to the side and took up your task quietly. There was so much he wanted to say. So much he felt like he couldn't voice, for who's sake, he wasn't quite sure. You could sense the quiet tension exuding from the brunette in waves, leaning against the counter and watching him work.

"Thanks, 'ren. My back's been ten times worse this time around." you sighed, a hand absently coming up to glide over your tummy. He tensed a little at the nickname, standing to his full height and shutting the fridge.

"Remember that tea I got you before Olive was born?" he began, setting the cooler on the counter beside you. "I could probably find it again. I remember you liked to take baths and drink a cup or two before bed."

Eren finally met your gaze, trepidation tingling on his tongue. Your smile didn't reach your eyes, only nodding slowly as he stared down at you. A few moments of thick silence slid past before either of you spoke again.

"... I miss those days, when she was really small," you sighed, turning to search for the little girl out the window. She was busy rolling around in the grass with your friends' kids, radiating sunshine from her muddied face. "She'll be a great big sister. Probably a little rowdy, but she'll get the gist soon enough. Armin's been teaching her how to hold a baby. She's so excited."

Eren swallowed. He put himself beside you, watching you through his peripheral. "Do you ever think about it?" he asked, voice low. When you didn't reply right away, he took the chance to keep going. "When it was just us three. The sink baths... the fights over changing poopy diapers." Eren chuckled humorlessly -- instead, a certain longing flooded his lungs. "Does Armin rub your feet before bed? You used to beg me to..."

You stood eerily still, just listening. Waiting.

"... I miss it, all of it. I miss you."

You sighed at his sobering confession. The room felt small and claustrophobic. Eren seemed to dominate the space without meaning to -- even just standing there at your side, leaning up against the granite countertop, his presence was almost overwhelming.

"That was a long time ago. We shouldn't... we shouldn't talk about it... like that, anymore."

Eren's chest began to ache at your reply. Of course, he shouldn't have said anything. He knew where you stood. Or at least, he thought he did -- there was a tinge of something to your tone, something he couldn't quite label, but it felt familiar. Almost comforting, in a strange and backward kind of way.

"Right," he mumbled back, pulling air into his deflated lungs, "you're right."

You excused yourself, offering a light squeeze to his bicep on your way past. Eren thought about the phantom touch long after he kissed your daughter goodnight and left yours and Armin's home that evening. Eren thought about his best friend and his ex girlfriend, the mother of his child -- and the new addition growing in her belly, one he couldn't quite claim as his own, as much as he longed to. He thought about how he'd never love someone else the way he loved you, still, even if you didn't feel the same anymore. He closed his eyes, praying for sleep.

"... I miss you."

You know what's really disgusting and disturbing about anime Fandom?

It's how they ship age gap ships & are completely fine with it & use the excuse that they are fiction so its ok to ship someone who is 10+ years older than u (I guess when rape & genocide happen in anime its ok too right?) Because its fiction?An example would be how people ship Sakura with literally every dick that exists in the series. Madera, Kakashi, itachie etc. I've even seen kakasaku shippers trying to say that kishimoto at least thought about making KS canon because he repeatedly drew Sakura holding Kakashi on his chest & Kakashi understands her feelings better than Sasuke.

This is a similar thing that goes on in aot with levi x eren & levi x Mikasa shippers. "Its ok they are 19 now" yeah like idea of a 19 year old with someone who's about to be in his end 30s is ok. Not to mention they have been shipping them since they were 15. Not only that but both ships have absolutely nothing in canon that had romantic moments heck they hardly have a bond not to mention the fact that levi & Mikasa are relatives. I want to tell u some crazy thing that they claime cabin eren isn't the real eren he looks more like levi (Mikasa dream to be with levi) proof of this is because "fake eren" made tea on the table so evidence its levi & levie told Mikasa to stay with him while eren told her to forget about him.

everywhere you went, he was holding you -- walking you to class, strolling through the park, even just running errands together, he held your hand and stroked his thumb over your skin. you always figured armin was sweet, but since you admitted how you felt about each other, he's been laying on the affection like thick globs of honey.

cool air nipped at your warmed cheeks as soon as you stepped outside. the movie had run longer than you expected, leaving the dark curtain of night falling over your heads and chilling your bones. armin blew a raspberry as he joined your side, hastily zipping up his windbreaker and darting out a hand to capture yours.

"it's freezing!" he shivered, "c'mere, are you cold?" and he cupped both your hands, raising them to blow hot air over your skin. you couldn't help but smile. he took his job as a boyfriend very seriously, always taking care of you, even in the smallest of ways.

you shifted your fingers, breaking out of the little space heater zone he created to trace over his cheek. armin watched curiously, albeit a bit nervously.

"you're so cute." you soothed, cupping his cheek, and he leaned into it, a smile growing to match yours.

"it feels so good when you say that." he replied, gratitude evident in his softened features.

he took care of you, you took care of him.

and you leaned in, electricity playing under your skin as you moved to kiss him -- you felt his posture stiffen, how adorable. the first kiss in a new relationship can be daunting, but this was anything but that. it felt so easy, slotting your lips together, leaning into each other like you'd fall over without the support.

armin broke away first, a giant grin breaking out where you'd just been. his hand squeezed over yours where you still held him, soft and warm on his cheek.

"i've been wanting to kiss you for a while," he breathed, "i just wasn't sure if you were ready."

and you giggled, reaching up to peck over his rosy button nose. his mouth was warm, but god, his nose was an ice cube.

"again, you are so cute, armin, i can't stand it." you lowered your hold, instead swinging your hands together between shivering bodies. "let's get going, there's a blanket with our names on it at my place."
