I know I shouldn’t! Every single Deity knows I shouldn’t, but I’m going back down that rabbit hole of obsessing with Killing Stalking. Yes I have read it, and as messed up it is I love the characters. The masculinity side of me wants to protect Yoonbum, and the femininity side wants Sangwoo to use me like a common wh—; I think it’s mostly their body stature. In all honesty part of me is use to taking away some pain and making it as my own, and showing affection when I truly care for someone, and that’s what I feel with Yoonbum; even with his awkwardness. Now Sangwoo; I feel the same way I feel about him with most horror slashers. He will kill someone for me if they messed with me, and that attitude gets me every time. Especially with his upbringing, the same with most horror icons, he was just misunderstood and abused like most. So in honor of my messed up obsession, and like my third best version of this, here’s my OC in Killing Stalking; which is basically me.

(2022) Killing Stalking Fanart

So I got around to reading the Manwha Killing Stalking by Koogi after learning about it through the YouTuber SpookyRice about a week ago. I'm admittedly not a big reader of manga/manwha but after hearing his summary about it, it really intrigued and I decided to give it a try and I was quite surprised how hooked I was on it, so much so that I read the whole manwha in a day😅 It was so messed up and a roller coaster of emotions.

The characters were so interesting but Yoonbum, I found to be so freaking relatable that it hurt. I mean aside from the stalking and the horrible traumatic past of abuse he had in childhood, I still related so much to him and I grew to really adore and care about him so much, he's such a precious cinnamon roll who didn't deserve all the trauma and messed up stuff that he went through and I just wanted to give him so many big hugs 🥺

Sangwoo was a sad character as ell. I mean he was still a psychopath but with the childhood he had, it's not surprising why he ended up the way he did. I'm not excusing it, he was a misogynistic monster but I appreciate the writing to show how he got there.

And oh man the ending, that one totally hit in the feels, I was not expecting it and it's the very definition of bittersweet because for a story like this one, it did work even though it was quite depressing. Anyway I really enjoyed the manwha for what it was, Koogi did a really good job with the psychological horror, it that kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat haha. If you're someone who is into psychological horror and suspense, I definitely recommend it ☺️

I genuinely don’t know what counts as shipping or not because of the different reasons you could want characters to be in a problematic romantic/sexual relationship and no two people seem to agree where the line is.

The first two examples that come to mind are the killing stalking guys and Scaramouche x Il Dottore from genshin, the latter being a head canon.

I see a lot of (usually younger) fans genuinely ship them without seeing any issues with their relationship somehow. But for me personally I like them in the sense that I enjoy exploring the psychology and issues in and around the relationship and characters. Why would they get together in the first place? What’s going on inside their head? What exactly are the specific issues that make the „ship“ problematic/toxic? How do they influence and change each other? Etc etc I could go on forever.

My point is there is a difference in enjoying a ship despite it being problematic and because of it being problematic (and then there’s people who just like seeing characters suffer of course but I think most ppl agree that falls under proship).

So is what I do shipping in your opinion or not? Every person I ask seems to have a different opinion and I’m curious on what yours is on this topic?

personally, i see someone as 'shipping' characters when they picture them to be in a romantic/sexual relationship of some sort for their own enjoyment—be it because they enjoy their chemistry/the characters themselves, etc.

someone that analyses a relationship between specific characters and the issues in said relationship, without outright supporting it (in a way that makes it seem as if it is not problematic. example, a killing stalking fan that sees sangwoo/yoonbum as a cute couple & views it through a romantic lens), for example, would not count as shipping, in my opinion.

it would be hypocritical of me to say that i do not want people that make serious analysis of media and the possible relationships in said media to interact with me, as i do so myself. what i would define as shipping in this context is to romantizise said relationships and make/view content of them through a lighthearted lens (ex. "i want to see these two characters in a relationship because i enjoy exploring the issues in said relationship" vs "i want to see these characters get together because them being in a problematic situation is personally appealing to me")
