Shigure Soma

Shigure is a very hard partner to keep up with. On a regular basis, he can pretend to be fun and outgoing, and while this is also what he is really like, it is only a certain part of his personality.

He has somewhat of a switch personality, which is why when you're his partner you need to watch out for when he's being serious and when he's being playful and react accordingly.

Shigure usually only drops the playful act when he's angry or when you're being intimate, but when he does he can get quite scary.

This is because he's such a perceptive lover that you quite literally cannot hide anything from him, his author nature also means that he can perceive real people as characters and as such understand them better.

If Shigure's interested in you he will not hesitate to manipulate you into liking him.

He has quite a few psychological tricks up his sleeve and is not afraid to use them.

You probably won't realise any of this until later on in your relationship when small things start to click in your head, but by then it's too late to do anything about it.

Shigure can be a toxic partner because he refuses to let you be taken from him. He's selfish, he's obsessive, he's probably not a good person and he knows it.

Being intimate with Shigure can often be lovemaking but he also isn't afraid to experiment and try new experiences. Unlike the other zodiacs, he's completely fine with BDSM and even enjoys it.

Ayame Soma

Ayame is a very playful partner, but unlike Shigure, nothing about his mannerism is fake. Sure, he also has his own baggage, but Ayame chooses to live life to the fullest and because of that he is never truly serious.

Sure, he has his moments too, but overall when you're with Ayame he's always playful and very clingy.

Constantly planting kisses on your face and giving you back hugs, always talking about the different clothes he wants to stitch for you (which by the way are a lot).

Ayame has made so many clothes for you that those alone make up an entire closet. This ranges from casual wear to costumes to lingerie.

Most of the inspiration for the clothes he makes that aren't for you also comes when he's thinking about you in that sort of outfit.

Ayame would be very affectionate even early on in the relationship, constantly holding your hand and not shy of PDA. But when it comes to being intimate he would wait a bit before doing it.

Sort of like he wants to be completely sure that's something both of you want.

He can be pretty experimental in the bedroom but he isn't as into BDSM as Shigure. More of the light BDSM type.

Kureno Soma

Kureno can be a very complicated partner.

This is because he's easily attracted to people who show him any kind of affection, so it'll take him a while to understand whether he's attracted to you or just likes the idea of not being with an abusive and manipulative partner.

Once he realises he actually likes you and not just the idea of you, Kureno gets pretty attached to you.

He isn't the kind of person who openly expresses his affection, so unlike Ayame even if he really wants to be clingy he won't do anything about it.

He can be pretty shy about showing physical affection first, because in his previous 'relationship' he was pretty much taught that his wants and needs didn't matter, which is why it's hard for him to get out of that mindset.

Once Kureno gets used to showing physical affection he learns that he quite enjoys cuddling and forehead kisses. But he also really likes just being in your presence.

Seeing you in a room immediately calms him down.

Just like Yuki, Kureno wants to explore new life experiences and situations with you. He wants to see and experience everything he missed out on in life.

When it comes to intimacy Kureno is more into the more lovemaking kind of intimacy. This is because things in his previous relationships could get pretty heated in a way that made him crave more affection rather than just sex.

Overall, Kureno is just looking for love and affection and he's glad that he can find that with you.

Hatori Soma

You're either in for the long run or won't be getting anything out of this.

Hatori can be very oblivious when it comes to people liking him. For someone so smart he's pretty blind in that department so unless you're confident enough to confess early on and somehow he feels the same way, you both will be like binary stars.

Once you finally get out of the awkward little does he like me does he not phase, the two of you will probably take things pretty slow.

The kind of relationship where holding hands and forehead kisses are considered milestones.

It's not like he takes two months to kiss you or anything (probably more like a week or two) but Hatori does like taking his time with things.

However, he really likes going on dates with you, the sweet kind like going to cafes together after work or having you lounge around in his office while he finishes up some work and then you go on walks around the city.

When it comes to being intimate, he's more of a pleasure dom and likes putting your needs over his own.

He's open to experimentation and all, but the only kind of BDSM he'd really be into is bondage.

Overall, being with Hatori is a pretty sweet experience, the kind of thing you read about in romance books. He loves taking care of and constantly being aware of you and your needs and he can often seem like the perfect partner.

You slipped off your boots and stepped onto shigura’s back porch before walking into his house, as you walked in you saw him sitting in his living room at the kotatsu, “what are we in the habit of walking into peoples houses without knocking?” He asked and you hummed in though before taking a step “would you have answered if I was knocking at your front door?” You answered his question with a question and this caused him to laugh, “okay okay, so why the sudden visit?” Shigura asked and you lifted your head to look at the ceiling.

You thought about your goal, you thought about your little sister being pushed out a window and now being in hospital with severe injuries, your sister could’ve been killed and despite that everyone has tried to make it seem like your sister just simply fell, the one responsible doesn’t even feel guilty, you know Akito was the one who did it and no matter how much you want to push her out a window, you just can’t do that, so you’ve decided to hit her where it really hurts, by going after to two men she cares most about, you had already done the dirty deed with Kureno, your original hope was to do it both men… not at the same time… and fall pregnant to one of them, before making a big deal out of who the father could be, however Kureno wanted to use protection and you obviously couldn’t deny him that. You look back at Shigura who had been waiting patiently for you to speak, “you heard about Rin?” You asked and the man simply nodded, “and you know it wasn’t an accident, don’t you?” You asked and ball your hands into fists, “I had my suspicions” he replied.

Shigura could see the anger in your eyes, he’d known this look, he almost feared this look, he’d seen it many times back in the days when you were all in high school, despite being in both different schools and Year levels, Ayame, Hatori and himself had seen and heard numerous stories of you absolutely humiliating both boys and girls who’d done wrong by you… you’d steal girls’ boyfriends or sleep with guys’ older brothers or even fathers… you weren’t above anything… so it got Shigura wondering what you could have possibly planned up in your mind and what does it have to do with him.

“So what are you going to do about it?” Shigura asked with a small smile, you chuckled “I’m going to take the one thing she wants more then anything, and she won’t know anything until it’s too late” you smiled and leaned into Shigura before dropping your voice to a whisper, “I’ve already slept with Kureno… but now I want you to ravish and impregnate me” you watched as Shigura thought for a moment before before throwing his head back in laughter, “that’s quite the plan but why would I do that?” He asked and now it was your turn to laugh, “I know something rather interesting, that I’ll tell you if you agree” you smiled and standing to your feet before taking a seat on top of the kotatsu , “and what could that possibly be… you don’t possibly think it’s good enough for me to sleep with you, let alone get you pregnant” he hummed and you chuckled, “I know someone broke the curse” you said and Shigura perked up “but the zodiac spirit moved to a different host” you looked the man directly in the eyes, “who broke their curse?” He asked and you shook your head, “agree to my plan first” you held out your hand and he took it, shaking your hand he was just about to speak again, however you slipped down in his lap and wrapped your arms around his neck, “Kureno…” you whispered in his ears. Shigura was shocked, you were the new rooster holder and Kureno somehow broke his curse, “how…? When…?” He asked and you looked at him with a strained smile “I don’t know how but it was back in middle school… though I’d rather not like to remember that day…” you said with such distaste, Shigura cupped the side of your face with his hand, he wiped away a stray tear that fell from your eye, “help me make her hurt” you kissed his cheek and pressed in closer to him, Shigure hummed and hugged his arms around your waist, before he picked you up and walked into his office, “the children will be home soon” he chuckled as you laid you down on his futon.

Shigura began undressing you, his long slender fingers making quick work of your clothing, you stripped shigure of his kimono, you laid out naked before the man, he stopped for a moment looking you up and down, “I can see why so many boys fell for you back in the day…” Shigura hummed as he threw his clothes aside and leant down wrapping his arms around your waist, before kissing your stomach, “your body is quite beautiful, I must be honest if my heart didn’t already belong to her… I’d be pursuing you, just for a mere glimpse of your angelic beauty” he spoke against your skin and you flinched at the tickle of his voice, “then just for the moment pretend she doesn’t exist and do me like I’m the only woman in your heart” you raked your fingers into his hair as he continued to rest his face against your stomach, before he kissed up your stomach and chest. You met Shigura face to face and his soft lips made contact with yours, in that soft moment where you made contact Shigura had fallen into a fantasy world where Akito doesn’t exist, your smooth lips moulding to his, your warm body pressing against his, your fingers tugging his hair, your bright eyes clouded with desperation and you soft skin blushed bright red. Akito didn’t exist right now, only you didn’t, the only one who mattered to him right now was you, “and you’re sure you want me and my seed?” Shigura asked as he leaned back and held your waist up off the ground, resting your hips on the tops of his thighs and your legs over his shoulders, you nodded however he only shook his head, “I want to hear you say it… out loud” he lined himself up and waited for your words, “yes, I want you… I want to bear your child” you spoke and moaned as you felt Shigura slide effortlessly into you.

You held a hand over your mouth as Shigura set a soft and sensual pace, he put so much pressure into each thrust and you could feel his content and passion in the way he held you, it was quite overwhelming you could feel tears sitting in the corner of your eyes, it had been a long time since you were held so close to another person, you let your arms snake around his neck as you cried out in pleasure, “Shigura… it feels good… hold me tighter” you whined and felt as he pulled you up into a hug, you legs slipped off his shoulder and rested in the bends of his elbows, you pressed your face into his neck and moaned against his skin, “I’m close… you’re sure you want my child?” Shigura groaned and gripped your hips tightly as he pulled you up and down on his member, “yes… yes please, Gura-kun” you whimpered in his ear before you threw your head back and let your body go slack, Shigura moaned and pressed deep into you, painting your insides a hot white, the man whispered sweet-nothings to you while he held your body tight and laid you both down, you slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.

You woke up to the soft afternoon light hitting your face, you opened your eyes with a groan to see you were laying in a warm futon covered with a blanket, you instantly spotted the source of the light, Shigura’s office door was open ever so slightly, you could see him standing in the living room with someone else, “shii-chan, you’re so mean… let me meet your girlfriend” you heard Momiji’s voice as he whined at the older man, “Momjii, Shigura doesn’t have a girlfriend” you heard Hatori scowled the young rabbit boy, “yeah he does… I saw her in his office, she in there right now” he called out and you heard feet shuffling back you saw Shigura’s back pressed against the door, “I don’t know what your talking about” he said in a high pitched voice that was obviously his was lying, “oh Gure-san, you have a new girlfriend and I haven’t met her yet, move out of the way, let me meet her” you then saw someone trying to push Shigura out of the way, “wait, she might not be able to met us just yet you two” you hear Haru talk while trying to stop Momiji and Ayame, “Sensei’s girlfriend might not be descent at the moment” he continued to speak, however this only set Ayame off more. You looked around the room and saw your clothes folded neatly in a pile next to you, you got up and quickly got dressed, before sliding the door open, this caused both Shigura and Ayame to fall on the ground, “would you guys knock it off, it’s just me” you grumble stepping over the two men, “y/n-nee, what are you doing here?!” Momiji began to bounce around you, he then gasped “you’re Shii-chan’s girlfriend… what a twist” he held a hand up to his mouth and you laughed out, “not in a million years Hase-chan… I was pretty hungover from a work thing and this was the closest place, so I crashed here for a little” you explained before heading towards the back door, “wait would you like to stay for dinner?” Called a voice, you turned to see a young brunette girl, this must be the Honda girl everyone’s talking about, “nah… I’ve already overstayed my welcome, but thanks Honda-chan” you waved the girl off and stepped out onto the back porch before slipping your boots on, “hey wait a second…” you turned back to see Shigura standing on the porch, “tell me when you know for sure” he said before walking back inside, you chuckled and walked away from the house.

You sat at Shigura’s kotatsu and placed a small rectangular box in front of him, “happy holidays” you smiled and watched as he opened the box and found the positive pregnancy test, Shigura was surprised by how happy and excited he was but he placed a hand over your and smiled at you, “thank you for such a meaningful gift” he placed the lid back on the box.

Anime Update V2 57

Vinland Saga S2 - At long last, I return to this series and jump right into Episode 1 of its second season that aired earlier this year. This episode told the tragic tale of a man named Einar, who lost his homeland, his mother, and his sister in a horrific attack by marauding brutes who took him prisoner and sold him into slavery. At one point he tries to flee only to get found, recaptured, and brutally beaten. At another point we see old man Leif, looking to find his lost nephew among the slaves. At the end, Einar is sold to Ketil to work at his large, vast farm in southern Denmark, where he is introduced to another of Ketil's slaves: a moody, badly damaged young man with dirty blond hair...named Thorfinn. And thus, a connection is made!

Hunter x Hunter - New information regarding how the Chimera Ants operate in their different heirachies and their ongoing breeding patterns is given to us as the Hunters Association is now tasked with fighting and killing the Ants, hoping to slay the Queen before she can give birth to a King. We also got some neat fights of Gon, Killua, and Kite in that order against Chimera Ant footsoldiers sent after them by the big lion guy. And on the side, Colt and the other leading soldiers are discovering the secrets of Nen, continuing to be easily the most intriguing part of the show at this point and I await more from them.

Fruits Basket - First episode of the pair I watched was mostly set at school, with the first half delving into Machi's backstory, how the trauma messed her up, and her blossoming relationship with Yuki, and...OK, which female student council member had the parody "tragic backstory?" Because Machi's backstory just did not click for me AT ALL. I could get the idea behind it and wanted to appreciate it but the execution was absurd; it legit felt like something someone would make up to convey how Fruits Basket does traumatic past-based stories, yet we're meant to take it seriously. I like Machi, but her development with the backstory and romantic material just sucked. Ironically, the second half that put focus onto Yuki's biggest fangirl, Motoko Minagawa, actually landed better and got me more emotional and choked up! Yuki, you took for granted what you had in this girl and her wacky fangirl posse! The one weird part was Naohito having feelings for Minagawa the whole time. THAT'S what he meant when he declared Yuki "his rival" when they first met? C'mon now!

The second episode brought Isuzu and Haru's subplot to its climax in a truly beautiful fashion, along with some payoff for Hiro and Kisa as well, and the best part of all was getting to see Haru grilling Akito for the truth, standing up to her, and coming just short of decking her in the face. Kureno helping Haru to go reunite with Isuzu and Akito starting to break down about this was icing on the cake. I might not be the biggest fan of Kureno but compred to Akito, Ren, Shigure and the head servant, he's a good lad who understands wrong and right.

Re:ZERO - Season 2 is a go for this too, as we're treated to a horrific Happy Ending Override where Rem has ended up vanishing from everyone but Subaru's memories again and a whole bunch of Crusch's soldiers got slaughtered by two new Archbishops of the Witch's Cult, a white haired Simon Laurent and a crazed beastman who talks like Erik Scott Kimerer doing Alexander Polinsky. For some reason, the effect went in reverse for Crusch, as now she's lost her memories of everyone else. The episode's last scene with Subaru and Emilia was nothing short of extraordinary for its pathos, it really got me. Things look to be taking a darker direction for this season, and y'know what? With a show of this quality, sign me the fuck up!

Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works - Now this was a lot more interesting compared to what I'd been watching before. Lots more serious and involved discussion between Shirou, Saber, Rin, and Archer, a scene where Shinji reports to Kirei at his church and he even references his grandfather Zouken, Rin and Shirou staking out to confirm or put to rest any suspicions regarding their bespectacled classmate who lives at the temple, Rin alluding to the true connection she has with Sakura, and Shirou thinking back to Kiritsugu and why he's adopted the "hero of justice" ideals from him to the point of a stubborn, unhealthy Savior Complex. Good stuff to see get adapted.

Symphogear GX - I thought Hibiki's father seemed bad, and Tsubasa's father also seemed cold and unloving, but now we get the full truth about her birth...her grandfather is thought to be her biological father who impregnated his own daughter in law just to breed a worthy family heir and spite his two sons. DEAR GOD. Seeing how fucked up this clan is, it was unsurprising to learn that Tsubasa's father was wanting to protect his girl from dealing with it all. What was very surprising was the full extent of Carol's plan, which turned every triumph the girls had made against her Dolls upside down into defeats that only got Carol closer to her objectives, and how she accomplished so much just by spying through Elfnein's eyes. The two biggest delights here were more of Chris bonding with Kirika and Shirabe as their senpai and working together to kick ass, and the glorious return of none other than DR. VER! Extra batshit as ever and still claiming himself to be a hero, he's with Carol and the Autoscorers now! Can this possibly get any wilder? I sure hope so!

Eureka Seven - On errands with Eureka and her kids, Renton meets a kind elderly lady who turns out to be a Vodarac religion member and a suspected terrorist who Holland is after in order to turn her in and collect the bounty on her. The morality of what Gekkostate is doing suddenly gets a lot blurrier to Renton, and he and Holland now clearly have more than a few issues with each other even in spite of Holland coming through in the end to ensure the old lady evades the military after he's taken his pay. Eureka is still awesome, though!

Gintama - So this might've been my absolute favorite episode of Gintama yet. Just all the ways they played with the "whodunnit" mystery genre while also lampooning stalkers, selfish, dishonest and unloving boyfriends, and tight parental control without the child's input all in one hilariously twisty and turny episode kept me immensely engrossed and entertained from start to finish. Also, Otsu continues to be surprisingly amazing, and we even get the backstory for why Shinpachi became such a die-hard fan of her, with the one thing that distracted me is that suddenly she's singing in Japanese even in this dub; did the constant English singing of "Your Father's Bleep Bleep" face such backlash that they dared not attempt a dubover of Otsu's songs again? Ah well, that's no big loss at all!

I love how their relationship evolved, how they learned to understand each other, respect and eventually love each other. I appreciate slow-burns with tension and very dramatic scenes and I must say they nailed it haha

I'd say they're a powerful couple 😤💖

-> CANON : Tohru and Kyo / Arisa and Kureno (Fruits Basket)

There are a lot of romance and couples in Furuba and all of them are interesting and beautiful. Tohru and Kyo is the main ship and their story is very endearing and memorable. I also love Arisa and Kureno's. It's not the most developed love story because they fell in love at first sight and couldn't see each other much due to the head of the Soma family's restrictions, but it moved me to see how much they loved each other. Their romance is really soft and kind yet a bit sad at moments.

Well, I nearly cried when I wrote non-canon because...I tried my best to view them as friends so I could understand those who don't ship them but nah, they're clearly in love, your honor. The end of S1, the dramatic break-up in the Rising and their struggle to go on a date in S2 plus Barnaby being very caring with Kotetsu's daughter...

I love silly dudes that argue like old couples but who care a lot and love each other 😌❤

Like the previous ship, all of them are bromances with the same type of dynamic. My comfort ship is Polnareff and Avdol, I guess it helped me a lot to draw them when I felt really down and I still dearly love them today.

I do love Joseph and Caesar too and how Caesar had positively impacted Joseph's attitude toward others. Wish we could have seen more of these two ;w;

Well...it's a webcomic on WEBTOON CANVAS created by my sis but seriously, I wouldn't write it here if I didn't like the ship as much as the other ones I've listed. Unfortunately, she's writing it in French and there are only 5 episodes available in English. But if you're curious about it, please, check it and let me know what you think about it or if you want the next chapters, I'll encourage her to translate and publish them 💖

Anyways, I love this ship because... it's a slow-burn with two (at first glance) mismatched characters. They've got a long way full of struggles and misunderstandings before starting loving each other. A cute looking little gentleman with a stupid and impulsive ladies' man, a interesting duo, right ? 😎❤ I personally can't wait to read the next chapter 😭

You had dreamed of graduating the second you had stepped into the Highschool. You had never really gotten along with your classmates, so you spent most lunches alone. You never really minded, you normally kept to yourself. Through the years it had always been you, and you liked it that way. You were a person who liked to stay constant. In your straight road of life, a mysterious bump caused you to stray off track. That mysterious bump turned out to be the best mistake you've ever run over (and out).

By run over, I meant run into. On the second day of the second week of your second year of Highschool, you had bumped into Kureno Sohma. Well obviously you didn't know his name at the time, but it was him. After profusely apologizing, he laughed it off and said it was fine. Finally straightening your back, you took a good look at the stunning stranger. Catching his eyes was the greatest gift the heavens could've given you. You hadn't noticed that he was trying to get your attention.

"Excuse me, I need to go now," he politely excused himself. Not wanting him to go, you grabbed onto the sleeve of his shirt. Surpised by your sudden actions you gave out a little yelp.

With every ounce of confidence you had left, you asked if you could see him again. He looked flustered beyond belief. That look was the cutest expression, it was imprinted into your mind and dreams. One meeting lead to another. But on your third meeting, Kureno Sohma didn’t look like the dreamy new born faun you had run into. He had looked panicked and anxious. His expression changed your mood immediately. Quickly trotting up to meet him, your hands met his chest in a silent frantic way of needing an explanation.

“Please have you told anybody about us meeting?” the rushed words coming out in a blur, but you were able to understand them.

“No I would never without letting you know first, what’s wrong what’s going on?” you shakily let out. He explained the situation. Long story short, the family doctor’s partner’s memories got erased after the doctor let the family head know that they were together. 

You were relieved that he didn’t want to end things with you. Although the thought of losing Kureno was frightening, you telling other people wasn’t on the agenda. After reassuring him about the security of the secret, you two headed into a cafe to grab a bite to eat. 

A year and a half had gone by, and now it was graduation. A year and a half of a closeted and healthy relationship with Kureno. You had never been happier. Looking around at the kids who had been around you for years, you decided that you were happy to leave. Stepping out of the building, the soft spring breeze hit your face. Looking behind at the doors that had held up your building of education, you said your final goodbyes. 

You walked toward the pier as Kureno wanted to meet you for a walk to celebrate with you tonight. Seeing as he wasn't here yet, you leaned over the edge and looked out towards the darkening skyline. The sun just beginning to disappear under the horizon distracted you from the steps approaching you. The presence beside you didn’t startle, as you were expecting company. Not bothering to look over, but you knew Kureno was leaning over watching the sunset with you. 

“It’s finally over,” you quietly let out. 

“What are you planning on doing in the future?” Kureno asked giving a glance over his right shoulder to look at you.

“I’m thinking of taking a few years off, but other than that I don’t know. Do you have any suggestions?” You were serious for the first part but letting a little joke in won’t hurt right?

“I could imagine us in a small cottage by a river on the countryside. I see you in my future. I mean it,” Kureno fully turned towards you, “stay with me y/n. marry me in the future. let’s make it happen. I know we can.” He had that cute flustered look that you loved so much.

Shocked by his response you gasped. You also turned to your lover, your happiness, and took in what he said. He wants to marry you, he sees you with him in the future, he wants you there. Your eyes welled with tears, and a gentle hand caressed your face. 

You leaned into the warmth, finally letting out “of course Kureno, I’ll be here till we’re both old and withered.” Letting out a chuckle, Kureno smiled eyes filled with love. Finally reaching your neck up for your lips to meet his in a finalizing kiss.

“I love you Kureno.”

“I love you more”

About Kureno

Next episode we will finally meet Kureno. I have to admit that I always been a little indiferent towards him and towards his endgame ship, so my hope for the anime is that they sell me this relationship. I want to love it as much as I love other furuba ships, I want they to convince me that I should want them together. A little more about my thoughts under the cute, because today I feel like talking a little about this. SPOILER WARNING. Also, I ramble a lot, you’re warned.

About Kureno. The first time I read the manga I felt mostly indiferent towards him. I felt for him in the scenes that I should, but in the immensity of intense feelings that the rest of characters in fruits basket made me feel, he was left behind, forgotten. 

After reading the manga several times I ended developing more affection for Kureno. He’s a very tragic character in my eyes and I feel very bad for him.  Uo was right thinking he was like Tohru, because both of them are selfess to a fault, and being selfess was Kureno worse flaw that ended hurting him and others. 

When the curse broke and Kureno was free he should have left. He could have told the others or he could have agree to leave in silence, not telling anyone about his curse breaking. In the long run leaving would have been the best for everyone, Kureno would be free to live his life but it that would have been the best for Akito too. She would have been hurt but she had others (Shigure who loves her, Hatori who is always there for her...) that would have helped her to get over it, staying only delayed the inevitable making everyone (especially Akito, Shigure and Kureno himself) miserable in the process.

Kureno should have left!! But he didn’t because of pity, because when the curse broke and he saw Akito crying and desesperate he just saw a girl crying, a sad and weak little girl. So he stayed, because he felt bad for her. And staying he become the most lonely of them all because he didn’t have ANYONE. The rest of the zodiacs at least had each other, but Kureno lost any contact with them because he was not one of them anymore and Akito was scared that if he interacted with them they would notice that something was wrong. And because of that everyone of the zodiac was forbidden to interact with him.  But Akito wouldn’t let him interact with outsiders eithers, would she? She was too afraid of him leaving her. Kureno interacting with normal people would scare her to death. Which means that Kureno had NO ONE, he couldn’t be friends with other zodiacs and he couldn’t be friends with normal people either. He only had Akito. Kureno spent a decade of his life alone, having just Akito at his side. Thinking of that makes me a little sick, but what I’m gonna talk next makes me sicker.

About Kureno and Akito. Now... Kureno sexual relationship with Akito, that makes me even more sick. I know there are a lot of ways to interpret their relationship since I feel like the manga was never very clear how they ended sleeping together or how they really felt about each other. I know that some people thinks that they loved each other, or that at least Kureno loved Akito. I think any interpretation is valid (if you interpret it as a loving relationship is ok, I’m not trying to convince you otherwise or saying that that interpretation isn’t valid), but I never saw it that way, my interpretation is... worse. A lot less pretty.

When I read the manga i feel that what Kureno feels for Akito is just pity, he feels bad for her, he sees her like someone that needs him, he can’t go away because she couldn’t bear it. I don’t see real love, or even lust, I just see pity and he has made that pity his own jail. And when I look at Akito I never felt like she loved him either, I only feel possessiveness. She’s very possessive of all the zodiac member, she has a very very ugly sense of ownership, she feels entitled to them. She’s the God and they belong to her. Since she lost the link with Kureno, he’s not hers anymore and I always felt like sex was her way to making him hers again, to tie him to her, to claim ownership. I always assumed that Akito is who initiated the sexual part of their relationship, she probably felt entitled to have him. She didn’t understand why Shigure was hurt when she slept with Kureno because she’s God and she’s entitled to have anything she wants. I don’t even blame her for this because she doesn’t know better, nobody bothered to teach her better.

Basically I see their relationship as she wanting sex with him to claim him as hers, and him accepting her advances because of pity, because he doesn’t know how to say NO to her. It’s all very... dubiously consensual in my eyes and it makes me feel sick any time I think of it.

About Kureno and Arisa. We’re finally here, the endgame ship. A lot of people has problems with their age difference, I’m not gonna put my hand in this can of worms... so let’s move on.

Fruits Basket is very good and making me feel things, good and bad things, it makes me have a lot of feelings about the characters and it makes me have a lot of feelings about the relationships, sometimes the feelings are very complicated, but I have a lot of them!!! My problem with this relationship is that is the only endgame relationship that makes me feel NOTHING. I never hated it, I just feel indifferent to it because it makes no sense to me, I don’t understand why are they in love. They have seen each other twice!!!

If I put a little (a lot) of effort I can see why Kureno would have feelings for Arisa. Like I said before he was alone, he has no one except Akito, when he met Arisa it was he’s first time going to a supermarket, it may also have been his first time talking to a normal girl. And the second time they met Arisa was so happy to see him, it probably was a new experience for him, just having a good time with a normal girl that seems to like him. So... yeah, I can see why he may like her. Maybe not love or anything so profound but i can buy him wanting to see her again.

But... why Arisa likes Kureno? THIS is what I can’t understand. Yes, he’s a pretty guy but I’m sure Arisa sees a lot of pretty guys. And he was clumsy and she found that cute because it reminded her of Tohru. But I’m sure that Kureno is not the first cute and clumsy guy she’s met. 

I want to understand it!! I really do!!! But... they met TWO times!! It may be enough for a guy like Kureno that surely has a lot of problems but a girl like Arisa, a normal girl that meets a lot of people, that has healthy friendships, why would she become so obsessed with a guy she doesn’t really know? I just can’t understand! I’m trying and is frustrating. 

I undertand having a little crush on him, and i would understand it developing into more if they met more times, if after their first meeting he started to go shopping to see her and they talked, and maybe they went to dinner several times and create a connection and then she’s desolated when suddenly he dissapears. That is a story i would have liked, one that I would have understand... but at the end of the day when I read the manga I just see a girl that saw a guy TWO TIMES and become obsessed with him for NO REASON AT ALL.

I want to love this ship and I want to understand it, that’s why I really really hope that the anime makes a good job with them. One of my main hopes for this anime is to be able to see Kureno and Arisa together at the end and think “I understand now. I can see why they end together”.
