Two Doubleheaders Equal a Series Win

NYY @ BOS

First Doubleheader

Series Game 1

RHP Randy Vásquez for the New York Yankees pitched against RHP Nick Pivetta for the Boston Red Sox.

3B Rafael Devers got the scoring started for the Red Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning by hitting a solo homerun off Vásquez. The score was 1-0 Red Sox.

In the same inning, Vásquez threw a wild pitch, causing 1B Triston Casas to score from third base. The Red Sox extended their lead to 2-0.

In the top of the sixth inning, 1B DJ LeMahieu hit an RBI double off Pivetta, scoring LF Everson Pereira. The Yankees were on the scoreboard, making it 2-1 Red Sox.

Later in that inning, 2B Gleyber Torres hit a two-run RBI single off Pivetta, scoring C Kyle Higashioka and LeMahieu. The Yankees took the lead by 3-2.

This score would hold up toward the end of the game, causing the Yankees to win a close game.

Series Game 2

LHP Carlos Rodón for the Yankees went up against RHP Kutter Crawford for the Red Sox.

In the bottom of the first inning, rookie CF Ceddanne Rafaela hit a solo homerun off Rodón. The Red Sox took the early lead at 1-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, CF Estevan Florial hit an RBI single off Crawford, causing Pereira to score. The game was tied at 1-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, 1B Jake Bauers hit into a force-out, causing Torres to score. The Yankees led by 2-1.

In the top of the ninth inning, Torres hit an RBI single, scoring RF Oswaldo Cabrera. The Yankees extended their lead to 3-1.

In the same inning, C Austin Wells reached on catcher interference via C Connor Wong with the bases loaded. Pereira scored and the Yankees now led by 4-1.

Not much else happened after these at-bats, causing the Yankees to sweep this first doubleheader.

Second Doubleheader

Series Game 3

RHP Michael King got the start for the Yankees versus RHP Tanner Houck for the Red Sox.

In the bottom of the first inning, LF Wilyer Abreu hit an RBI single off King, scoring Devers. The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead against the Yankees.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Rafaela hit a solo homerun off RHP Greg Weissert. The Red Sox extended their lead to 2-0.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, SS Trevor Story hit a three-run homerun off RHP Matt Bowman, scoring Abreu, RF Adam Duvall, and Story himself.

The Red Sox added more insurance runs, extending their lead to 5-0, which was the score they would win in this game.

Series Game 4

RHP Clarke Schmidt got the nod for the Yankees against RHP/opener Nick Robertson.

In the bottom of the first inning, RF Alex Verdugo grounded into a force-out, causing Rafaela to score. The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead.

Later in that inning, Abreu hit an RBI single off Schmidt, scoring Verdugo. The Red Sox extended their lead to 2-0.

In the top of the second inning, LeMahieu hit an RBI single off LHP Brennan Bernadino, scoring Florial. The Yankees now trailed the Red Sox by 2-1.

In the same inning, DH Aaron Judge hit a grand slam off Bernadino, scoring 3B Oswald Peraza, Cabrera, LeMahieu, and Judge himself. The Yankees took the lead by 5-2.

In the bottom of the third inning, Devers hit a solo homerun off Schmidt, making the score 5-3 Yankees.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Casas reached base on a throwing error by SS Anthony Volpe, causing 3B Luis Urias to score. The Red Sox trailed by 5-4.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Casas grounded out softly to Peraza at third base, who threw to LeMahieu at first. Rafaela scored and the score was tied 5-5.

In the top of the eighth inning, LeMahieu hit an RBI double off RHP Mauricio Llovera, scoring Volpe. The Yankees took the lead at 6-5.

In the top of the ninth inning, Peraza hit a two-run homerun off RHP John Schreiber, scoring Florial and Peraza himself. The Yankees extended their lead to 8-5 and won by this score.

The Yankees split this second doubleheader and won this series overall against the Red Sox with three out of four victorious games.

May 7, BOS @ PHI, 1-6, Loss

All good things must come to an end, including, apparently, the Red Sox winning streak. It was fun while it lasted. Sometimes the bats go quiet and the other teams’ bats get loud. That seemed to happen yesterday. Usually reliable Tanner Houck gave up the required three runs Red Sox starters are supposed to give up but the bats couldn’t back him up and the usually brilliant Bleier gave up a dinger to former Red Sox pal Kyle Schwarber. In spite of having one of the best lineups in baseball, they can’t be expected to perform miracles all the time, can they? I would say no, personally. So we lost a baseball game. It happens. Nothing occurred to have me panicking just yet. I would have liked to have swept the Phillies (especially with the Celtics losing to the 76ers the same day), but we can’t win them all. A couple of bright sides.

Yoshida continued to be pretty great, going 2-for-4.

Tristan Casas, continuing to show more and more of his potential, hit a dinger, the only run the Red Sox scored.

We still have a winning record.

The Yankees lost too.

Everyone in the AL East would get a playoff spot if the season ended right now. Except the Yankees (LOL). How fucking crazy is that?!

To begin with, your Decades of Horror 1970s Grue Crew are universally impressed with the quality in the look and sound of the new Synapse Films Blu-ray release of Creature from Black Lake. In the past, many of the crew had seen the film in a cropped, pan-and-scan version on TV or videotape. They discovered that Creature from Black Lake is an excellent movie that had been marred by the poor quality of many of the prints to which they had access. The Synapse Blu-ray release is a great showcase for Dean Cundy’s cinematography and facilitates a far more enjoyable viewing experience. As far as bigfoot movies of the era, Creature from Black Lake moves to the top among a select few. Synapse did a great service to horror fans in restoring Creature from Black Lake to this pristine, widescreen format.

After gushing over the Synapse Blu-ray, the Grue-Crew gushes equally over the movie itself. A great cast of character actors led by Jack Elam, Dub Taylor, Bill Thuman, Dennis Fimple, and John David Carson, supported by a well-cast group of locals, makes Creature from Black Lake a heck of a fun watch. In fact, they were having so much fun, they forgot to mention that Cathryn Hartt (credited as Catherine McClenny), who played Eve-the-waitress, is Morgan Fairchild’s sister. And be assured, there are plenty of creature shenanigans to supply the tension required in a good bigfoot film.

Omg 🥺 like, obviously there isn't enough room for her to tag along in the van so she has to stay back at the house.

For the few years the two had been together, Grayson always found comfort in Y/n’s scent. It was one of those things that he had come to love and he knew he was going to struggle to cope without it.

So that morning, before they leave, gray is rummaging through all of her hoodies and picks out a couple that are his favourite and sprays the shit out of them with the fragrance she always wears.

Y/n just chuckles as she watches him from her spot on their bed. ”Gray, that's my favourite hoodie, you can't take that.”

Grayson furrows his brows at her words. ”yeah, I can! We’re being separated for a whole ass week, y/n. I need something with your scent on so I can get a good nights sleep.”

”Then take my pillow?” y/n slides the pillow out from behind her back and throws it in Grays direction. ”I sleep with yours all the time when you're not here.”

”wait-” the broad boy raises a brow as he catches y/n’s pillow. ”really?”

”yes, now give me my hoodie!” she demands, holding her arms out.

Gray simply shakes his head. ”no, I'm taking it with me! You have my whole wardrobe so it's only fair that I get these two hoodies.” he says, shoving them both in his suitcase. He sneakily slips her perfume in there too.

Y/n rolls her eyes, laughing. ”I saw that, Gray.”

Grayson shrugs. ”I’ll buy you another, I promise.”

Not even 3 hours later, Gray was sat in one of the back seats of the van with his girlfriends favourite Champion hoodie on. It’s a tight fit, especially around his biceps, but it's on.

Ethan sniggers to himself. ”Bro, are you wearing y/n’s sweatshirt?”

He ignored his twin brothers question by unlocking his phone and begins to swipe left and right on the screen, making it seem like he was occupied. He knew fully well that he was about to be made fun of.

”Grayson!” Ethan exclaimed, smacking Gray’s phone out of his hand. It hits the floor with a thud.

”what the fuck, E!” he yells, quickly swooping his phone up from the floor.

”why are you wearing y/n’s sweatshirt?” ethan repeats himself, a tiny bit less irritating this time.

Because it's smothered in y/n’s scent, which calms me, and it's also the closest I'll get to hugging her, all week.

And I fucking miss her.

Grayson decides to keep this thought to himself. ”does it fucking matter?”

”Grayson, I suggest you drop the attitude before I-”

”Before what? You won't do shit, E, and you know it.” he scowls, crossing his arms over his chest as he sinks back into his seat.

Ethan chuckles with a shake of his head. ”dude, I'm just kidding. Why’re you being so grouchy?”

Kyle knew what was up.

”he misses y/n.”

“Gray! Wake up you sleepy fuck!” Ethan yells, hitting the sleepy boy in the face with a pillow. Ever so slightly, Gray opens his eyes to see Ethan towering over him with a dumb grin spread across his face. Behind his irritating twin stood kyle - who was most likely recording - also with a stupid grin on his face.

Grayson grumbles a “stop” as he pulls his covers up over his head to protect himself.

Waking up without y/n beside him was enough to put him in a bad mood, let alone having Ethan wake him up in an extremely annoying manner.

“If you get the fuck up, I’ll stop.” Ethan replies, simply, as he raises the pillow above is head again to slam it back down onto his brother.

“Dude, stop!” Grayson groans, smacking the pillow away from him. “hit me again and I’ll beat the living shit outta you.”

Having enough of Ethan’s shit, Gray sits up, but not without shooting the two boys next to him a death glare.

”Jesus, Gray! Did you seriously sleep in it too?!” Ethan exclaims as he leans over and tugs on the sleeve of the hoodie he was wearing.

Grayson shrugs. “It was freezing last night. Thought my nipples were gonna fall off.”

“Ew! It even smells like her!” Ethan laughs in disbelief as he continues to sniff grayson’s clothing. “Why the fuck do you smell like y/n?”

Once again, Grayson groans. “come on, dude. Stop.”

“Kyle, bro, smell Gray’s sweatshirt.” Ethan demands, stepping to the side for Kyle to stand where he just was.

“what the fu-” Grayson frown before getting cut off.

Kyle steps closer before taking the fabric into his hand and lowers the camera to his side. “Oh my god, you’re right!” Kyle laughs, “why is it so strong? you steal her perfume or something?” he jokes, standing back up into his original position.

Shit. Does he know? There’s no way he knows. He was sleep when I used it last night.

Just play it cool, Gray.

He scoffs. “Obviously not! That’s so dumb. Why would anyone do that?”

“oh, so you didn't get up in the middle of the night to spray yourself with her perfume?”

...shit.

Later that day, Grayson curls up into the covers, in the back of the van, and Facetime’s y/n.

“Hey babe-” Y/n smiles before noticing a pout on her boyfriends face. “whats wrong?”

“Ethan and Kyle are bullying me. I want to come home.”

Look After Me: Chapter One~ Ethan Dolan

OVERVIEW: (Y/N) Houck holds a special place in many people’s hearts. She doesn’t take shit from anyone, she works hard for her success, and she makes people want to be a better version of themselves when they’re with her. She’s also a crackhead. And Ethan Dolan loves her for it. Growing up, (Y/N) and her older brother was very close. That means that when Kyle decided that he was going to move to LA to pursue his dreams, his 19-year-old sister (Y/N), went along with him. They moved into a small apartment in downtown LA and when Kyle began filming for the twins (Y/N) followed behind them. Through the many days of filming, the group got extremely close. After a few months of living in LA, (Y/N) meets 22-year-old Zachary Lewis, and they began dating. When she finds out his true identity what does she do? Who does she confide in the most? Does she fall for the man who truly fell in love with her?

(Y/N) Houck has always been far different from her brother. She’s abnormally short, juxtaposing greatly to her brother who (much to her annoyance) closely resembles a beanstalk. She’s also never been the typical skinny California girl, she has curves and a tummy that she at times, has a very love-hate relationship with. She would often be described as overwhelmingly sassy, but she knows what she wants and what she wants she gets. It’s this determination that has allowed her to become a big success in the corporate world. (Y/N) Houck created a company that works alongside other businesses to help find the most ethical and sustainable ways to produce products. She’s only 19 and she’s already proving herself to be a boss ass bitch.

But there’s a different side of the youngest Houck sibling, one that rarely anyone ever gets the privilege to see. More times than not, she chooses to be very secluded in how she handles her emotions, she doesn’t always like to share her thoughts or feelings. (Y/N) has always been scared of how people would react if she were to share how she really felt. The only person she has ever been completely vulnerable with about her true mental obstacles is her older brother, Kyle. While her brother was three years her senior, they are often assumed to be fraternal twins based on how close they are. So when Kyle made the big decision to move to Los Angeles and pursue his dreams in photography and videography, she was bound to follow him. She now stands in the middle of the apartment that she shares with her brother, tired from the long journey from Washington to Los Angeles. Kyle had been moving their boxes in from the car while she was supposed to be unpacking them when he notices his sister standing silently, looking around at the view of the city from the window in their new empty living room.

“What’s wrong, Simba?” He questioned using her childhood nickname, an ode to their shared love of the Lion King.

“Nothing, everything is just different is all. I feel like it’s gonna take some adjustment,” she exasperates loudly, taking the box that was in his hands and placing it on the kitchen counter.

“A good different, or bad different?”

“Good different, I just have a feeling,” She said with a smile.

Two weeks later, the two were officially settled into their apartment and it had come to the time that Kyle would start working as a videographer for the Dolan Twins youtube channel. He decided to bring (Y/N) along simply because she had yet to make any friends in LA and he didn’t want her to be alone. So with that in mind, he trudged into his sister’s room at around 6:00am to drag her out of the house to help behind the scenes. The only problem with his plan is that the one thing about his sister that has been consistent since birth is that she is not, nor will she ever be a morning person.

“Come on (Y/N), time to get your lazy ass up,” Kyle roused turning on her bedroom light.

“Fuck off, asshole, 30 more minutes,” comes her voice from under the pile of blankets at the center her bed.

Kyle then lets out a sigh and walks over to the bed, yanking the blanket from her clutch and exposing her to the light of day. In tandem, he also exposes her body to the cold temperature of their apartment because the air conditioning is broken, stuck full blast until maintenance decides to come fix it.

“Knowing you, it’s going to take a whole hour and a half for you to get ready and we need to leave by 8:00 so get up Simba,”

“It’s cold as fuck in here, you’re lucky I’m way to tired to go and whoop your ass, Mufasa,” she says throwing her legs over the side of her bed and standing to stretch out her tired muscles.

“Be ready by 8, we are leaving at 8:05,” she hears following the slamming of her door.

(Y/n) then walked over to the bathroom and looked at her disheveled state in the mirror. She shrugged her shoulders, not caring about her appearance at the moment, and grabbed her toothbrush beginning to brush her teeth. She turned on the shower, setting the water temperature to something that wasn’t extremely hot but also not freezing. She rinsed her mouth off in the sink and then stripped of her pajamas, stepping into the shower. She quickly washed her hair and body, took the time to shave her legs, and got out of the shower. She dried herself off before putting on her undergarments and sliding on a pair of black distressed jeans. She threw on a light grey loose tank top and topped it with a jean jacket. She brushed her hair and straightened it a little and then applied minimal makeup that included a full face, eyeliner, and a nude lip with a glossy finish. Not necessarily minimal, but she made it look natural. By the time she finished getting ready, it was 7:55. She slid on a pair of checkered vans and grabbed her phone as well as her black bookbag with all of her belongings and headed into the living room.

“I’M READY,” she yelled from the couch as her brother exited his bedroom, carrying his giant duffel bag full of filming equipment.

“Okay let’s go then,” he said and they both exited the apartment, making sure to lock it behind them.

An hour later (fuck LA traffic, honestly, the drive was supposed to take 15 minutes) they’re pulling into the twin’s driveway to start filming. Looking out the window she sees an array of expensive cars, and a house that she could never even imagine being able to afford, even with all the success of her new company. But the nice house and fancy cars aren’t what caught her eye. What caught her eye was the two beautiful and identical men standing on the porch smiling and waving at them as Kyle parked the car. Even though the two men appeared to be identical, (Y/N) was able to notice tiny differences between the pair like the slight difference in figure, and the mole on only one of their chins.

Still sitting in the car, Kyle rolls the window down to talk to the pair as he puts the car in park.

“Hey guys, I hope you don’t mind but I brought my sister today, I didn’t want her lonely ass sitting at home all day and I thought she could get some human interactions beside me. (Y/N), meet Ethan and Grayson. Grayson and Ethan, meet (Y/N).” Kyle said,

“Nice to meet you two,” She said while reaching down to grab her bag from the floorboard of the car.

“Nice to meet you as well, I’m Ethan by the way, you’ll learn to tell us apart quickly,’’ he responds with a laugh.

“Good thing I learn quick, I can already tell you guys apart. Grayson has a mole on his chin and the dangly earring that you have a good enough fashion sense to know is a bad idea. It’s not hard,”

“You hurt me (Y/N),” Grayson says, hand clutching over his shirt where his heart is, “you really hurt me.”

“Hey Simba, you mind grabbing the duffel out of the trunk for me?” Kyle hollered over the roof of the car as they both opened their doors to get out.

(Y/N) nodded and grabbed the bag, walking up to face the twins.

“Simba?” Ethan inquires pointing at (Y/N), eyebrows raised.

“Yeah, the Lion King was our favorite growing up,” Kyle answers while secretly bending over to get some mud from the ground. He then quickly grabs (Y/N) from behind starting to sing the starting notes to The Circle Of Life (he’s off-key but no one cares) and smears the mud on (Y/N)’s forehead.

Kyle continues to sing as he runs away from an angry (Y/N). As he gets to the chorus, Ethan catches (Y/N) mid stride, monkey thrusting her ass into the air just like in the opening scene of the movie. Many would say that this is a weird way for a first interaction to unfold, but that’s what makes their dynamic so special. It felt like they had all been friends their whole lives. Their group chemistry was instant and was full of chaotic energy. They were all crackheads, and they each fed off of their group chaos.

Throughout the next couple months they all got closer and closer. They filmed videos of course, but they also began to hangout outside of filming as well. They were all together when (Y/N) met a vlogger named Zach. Ethan and Grayson were skeptical of him because they had previously heard some shady things about him at some of the events they had been to. But Zach and (Y/N) on the other hand, they hit it off instantly. So well that they had agreed to go on a date later that week.

In the beginning, (Y/N) and Zach’s relationship was similar to that of a film worthy love story. (Y/N) fell hard for Zach and he fell for her in return. They were in love, they had the kind of us against the world mindset that people crave to have with another person. Many times, (Y/N) had to prove this mindset. The problem with Zach was that he was a disguised clout chaser. A Logan Paul trying so unbelievably hard to be a David Dobrik. There was a craze in the tabloids suspecting Zach's infidelity, possible drug use, and desire to exploit the success of (Y/N)’s company as well as her friendship with the twins. But regardless, she stuck with him through all of it. He made her feel special and he made her feel wanted. No matter how many times Grayson, Ethan, or Kyle expressed their concern she repeated that to herself, and honestly she believed it too.

She pushed their concerns aside as she was reassured over and over again by Zach that he loved her, that they were meant to be. So many times she would be questioned or told not to when she mentioned going over to the twins or spending the day with her brother.

“I don’t want you hanging out with the twins, baby, they always fill your head with doubts about my feelings for you,” Zach brought up one night as (Y/N) was getting herself ready to head over to the twin’s house to film a video.

“Babe, I can’t stop hanging out with my friends. I just ignore them most of the time when they say anything about you, trust me I know you love me. Now I've got to go so that I won’t be late for the shoot, love you,” she told him real quick and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Zach felt extremely hurt that she just walked away like that, in his mind, her going to the twins house was the equivalent of her not caring about him. So he grabbed a beer from his fridge and downed it.He was pissed, he had been a lot lately. Zach knew that he had been acting up, but he’s pushed himself far past the point of caring. He knew he should have dealt with his issues long ago, but with (Y/N) he had a distraction so he didn’t need to. He knew that he was losing her, so he decided that if he really was going to lose her, she would need to feel the pain that he does.

Overtime, (Y/N) grew her own suspicions aside from just his jealousy. These suspicions led to many fights, but she was determined to make it work. That is, until one night when she was at her lowest and all she wanted was her boyfriend to make it better. She needed him to tell her that everything was going to be okay, that the stress of her company was going to be worth it, she needed him to tell her that despite everything she was hearing, he was there and with her for the right reasons.

Unfortunately, when she walked into his apartment holding the key that he had given her on their one year, she had another thing coming. Opening the door (Y/N) heard the noises that she had thought Zach had reserved for only when the two of them were together. Walking further into the apartment, she saw a sight she would never be able to erase from her mind. There Zach was, fucking his assistant from behind on the kitchen counter, not even stoping when he saw her standing there.

Looking at her dead in the eyes, he said words that, after all they had been through, truly broke her. “Why do you look so shocked, babe? You ignored the tabloids. You knew you were never good enough for me, I just needed the money from your company to get my youtube career to where I wanted it to be. Now that I have what I need from you, I don’t need to pretend to be in love with your clingy ass anymore. I feel free as hell. You can see yourself out right? Leave my key on the counter”

The entire time (Y/N) said nothing. She didn’t know how she had let this happen, how she could believe Zach over the people that have never done anything but be completely honest with her. She ignored the warnings from the people that she loves, the people that she trusts, only to find out that it was all for nothing. She quickly took the key off her keychain and threw it at Zach and his assistant (who was still taking her now ex boyfriends dick up her ass) and swiftly turned around, walking out of his apartment without a single word.

She didn’t know where to go. She didn’t feel like it was safe for her to drive in her current emotional state. That really limited her options on where she could go, but she knew there was only one place that she really wanted to be anyway. So she started walking. The way she moved was almost mechanical. She just kept putting one foot in front of the other while tears were streaming down her face, mixing with the cold rain. It was like the universe just knew how shitty she felt at that moment and just decided that in spite of LA’s predisposition to clear and semi warm nights, it seemed suitable to downpour and reflect how she felt inside.

Despite her tendency to block out her own emotions, what she was feeling at that moment was too strong. (Y/N) felt everything, she felt pain and betrayal and anger and self doubt. Anything that she could feel, she felt in that moment.

So when that same driveway that she and her brother pulled up to only a year and a half ago came into view, she felt some reassurance. It was reassuring to know that despite how much she felt like her life had gone to shit in the past couple hours, she always had Ethan and Grayson.

With that, she pounded on the door of the twins house, she would have called but she left her phone in her car which was still parked in front of Zach’s house. Her only hope was that her pounding on the door would wake one of the twins up.

Little did she know, Ethan and Grayson were inside looking at each other holding baseball bats, ready to call 9-1-1 when they saw her through a crack in their curtains. They swung open the door to see one of their best friends in a state of such heartbreak, and looked at each other silently vowing to never let anything hurt her like this ever again.

With that, the pair rushed her inside and gave her privacy to shower and change out of her wet clothes before they all talked. She gets out of the shower feeling slightly better and sees the clothes they brought in for her on the toilet. Those ridiculous red basketball shorts that E used to wear way too often and a black crewneck. She got dressed and headed out to the living room where the twins were seated on the couch whispering quietly.

“(Y/N), what the hell happened?” Ethan asked as she sat down on the couch looking back and forth between her two friends.

At that, all composure that she gained since she walked into their house was gone. She started to tear up as she tried to explain what happened between sobs.

“I-I’m not good enough, and I’m never gonna be. I probably deserve this. You guys all warned me too. But I didn’t want to listen, I wanted it to work so badly.”

“Who made you feel this way, (Y/N)? What’s going on?” Gray asked furrowing his brows.

“Zach and I broke up,” (Y/N) paused to take a shaky breath, “I went to his apartment because I had a really shit day and I needed him. But when I got there he was fucking his assistant on the kitchen counter. He didn’t even stop when he saw me standing there. It hurts so fucking bad guys, I think he really broke me.”

Both boys took a minute to respond, not surprised in the slightest, their lack of immediate answer was more so that they could reign in their tempers. Ethan is the first to respond, cupping (Y/N)’s face in his large hands and wiping a few falling tears with his thumbs.

“Listen to me,” he demands softly, “this is not your fault, you hear me? The only person to blame here is Zach, he made a choice. He made the wrong choice because he hurt you, but he made that choice. None of this is your fault, you did nothing wrong, this is all on him.” he comforts as he pulls (Y/N) into his chest and sharing another pointed look with Grayson, who’s still making efforts to control his temper.

When he’s finally able to think past his anger, Grayson pulls (Y/N)’s legs onto his lap and exhales loudly as he begins to speak, “We love you so much, (Y/N). I’m so sorry that he did this to you, no one deserves this and especially not you. We’re gonna make sure you’re okay, this isn’t what will break you. You’re so strong, you’re going to be okay, we’ll make sure of it.”

Following Grayson’s words, the three of them sit there in silence just holding each other until they all fall asleep on the couch. (Y/N) curled into Ethan’s chest with her legs sprawled across Gray’s lap, surrounding her in a blanket of support as they drifted to sleep.

They were all peacefully asleep until the next morning when Kyle burst in screaming, “Does someone feel like telling me why the fuck I just got a call saying the car’s been towed?”

CHAPTER TWO:

Recap----“Listen to me,” he demands softly, “this is not your fault, you hear me? The only person to blame here is Zach, he made a choice. He made the wrong choice because he hurt you, but he made that choice. None of this is your fault, you did nothing wrong, this is all on him.” he comforts as he pulls (Y/N) into his chest and shares another pointed look with Grayson, who’s still making efforts to control his temper.

They were all peacefully asleep until the next morning when Kyle burst in screaming, “Does someone feel like telling me why the fuck I just got a call saying the car’s been towed?”

After waking up, they decide to let Kyle and Grayson deal with getting the car back, agreeing to talk about everything with Kyle after the vehicle is back in their possession. They were all afraid that if Kyle knew what had happened before they got the car back, the drive home wouldn’t have been safe. So, that left Ethan and (Y/N) alone back at the house.

“You feeling any better?” asks Ethan as they sit in the lounge chairs in the backyard.

“Not really, I can’t believe Zach had the car towed. I mean, I guess with everything thats happened it shouldn’t surprise me. I just feel like I let everyone down.” she says shifting her attention to her fidgeting hands. “You all told me that he wasn’t good for me, but I didn’t listen. I really thought he was the one or whatever.”

“I mean I won’t lie to you, it was frustrating to watch you with someone who was so clearly not good enough for you. But we all just want you to be happy because all of us love you.”

“I love you guys too.” she responded.

Little did she know that Ethan had wanted to say so much more to her. He wanted to tell her that he was IN love with her. That he was confused she didn’t seem to understand something that was so unbelievably clear to him, that they could be great together. But he knew that now wasn’t the time for them. He wanted her to choose him because she wants him, not because she’s hurting and needs someone.

With that, they got up and headed back inside to start making some food for when Kyle and Grayson returned. Settling on some of the new vegan mac and cheese that the twins had recently discovered. (Y/N) made Ethan sit on the counter and watch, he’s already been so helpful to her and she just wanted to be able to show that she appreciates him.

“Anything you want to do today?” asks E.

“Honestly? I’m kinda fucking exhausted. I think I may want to take a nap later.”

“I think that’s something we can make happen.”

“How have you been lately, I feel like I haven’t seen you in so long.” (Y/N) says trying to reach the bowls for the mac and cheese.

“I’ve been pretty good. I’m really excited for the project we’re about to start filming. I feel like it’s going to be different than anything we’ve done before.” Ethan says getting up to help her reach the bowls on the top shelf.

As he reached over her she could feel his front pressed against her, and smell the cologne that she had always loved when he wore. This wasn’t necisarily out of the norm for them, everyone in their close knit group had always been physically affectionate. But somehow, it had always meant something a little more to (Y/N) when it was Ethan being physically affectionate. She never thought about it though, because anyone who knows (Y/N) knows that she’s loyal as fuck. A ride or die for anyone she lets into her life and into her heart. She’s pissed that Zach betrayed that.

“Anything you guys film is fucking amazing, you guys deserve all the love and I’m ready for the people to enjoy the shit out of everything you guys pour your hearts in,” (Y/N) said as she scooped some of the mac and cheese into the bowl.

“Thank you (Y/N), but on the real note, I’m excited as hell for you. I mean you have two new big deals you are close to making and like holy shit you’re a CEO. You help the merch shop and Wakeheart and now you are expanding and it makes me so proud of you,” Ethan said as he sat down in one of the yellow chairs at the dining room table.

“I don’t know what I’d do without you, E.” She said with a smile as she sat down in the yellow chair next to him.

“Crash and Burn,” Ethan said with a snicker.

“Yeah right,” She chuckled as she brought the spoon of (Vegan) Mac and Cheese to her mouth and ate it.

“HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS IS BOMB AS FUCK, PUT THIS SHIT IN YOUR MOUTH RIGHT NOW ETHAN,” (Y/N) exclaimed as she scooped more of the (Vegan) Mac and Cheese on her spoon.

“Jesus Christ (Y/N), calm your ass down, I’m going to eat the damn mac and cheese,” he said and stook the spoon in his mouth.

“Holy fuck! You were right, this is the best shit I’ve had in awhile,” Ethan moaned as he pulled the spoon out of his mouth.

“I told you so,” (Y/N) said as she continued to eat.

As they were sitting and enjoying their food and making small talk, the door alarm went off signaling that Kyle and Grayson had come back from retrieving the towed car.

“Can we talk about what the hell is going on now?” Kyle asked abrasively and (Y/N) looked down at her hands again nervously. The carefree mood she was in with Ethan vanishing in an instant.

“I went over to Zach’s house and found him having sex with his assistant on the counter in the kitchen. I came here after because it was closer and I didn’t feel okay to drive, so I guess Zach had my car towed.”

Kyle’s mouth dropped open. “He did WHAT?”

“I said he-”

“I know what the fuck you just said. I’m gonna kill him. I’m going to expose him for being the piece of shit that he is, and then I’m going to kill him. He can’t do that to you. Who the fuck does he think he is? He can’t just do that!” Kyle fumed.

“Well he did. I’m honestly so tired of talking about it, I just want to ignore that it happened for a little bit. I just want to feel like it’s okay, just for a second just let me pretend that it’s okay.” (Y/N) said tearing up.

As Kyle saw his sister’s eyes filling with tears he walked towards her, arms spread wide as she stood up from her chair. She ran towards him and collapsed into his grasp, letting him soothe her in a way only he could.

“I’m sorry. I’m just really emotional right now and I don’t mean to take it out on you. I just don’t want it to hurt like this anymore.” She sniffles into her big brother’s chest and looks up at him through wide and tearful eyes.

“You don’t have to be sorry, I’m the one that should be sorry, I just hate seeing you hurt, I love you more than words can describe, you’re my baby sister, my job is to protect you and seeing you hurt, kills me. I promise you that you will get through this, I know you, you’re stronger than I’ll ever be,” Kyle said carding his fingers through her hair as she buries her face in the crook of her neck.

“I love you Mufasa,” she said as she laid her head on his chest. She let out a small yawn from the exhaustion that she felt from her emotions.

“Do you want to go lay down and rest for a while? And then after we can go out and buy a shit ton of deserts and watch Lion King on the projector?” Kyle said, stroking her hair soothingly. (Y/N) nodded, not wanting to speak at all at the moment.

“You can crash in my bed so that it's more comfortable than the couch,” Ethan said.

She just followed Ethan to his bedroom and laid down on his bed, burying herself within his comforter. His blankets and pillows smelled just like him and it added a sense of comfort as she slowly began to drift off to sleep. Ethan smiled slightly at the beautiful girl that laid in his bed and turned the bedroom lights off and left the door slightly cracked so that he would be able to hear her just in case anything were to happen. He took a deep breath before walking back to the living room where Grayson and Kyle sat. The tension in the household had died down for the sake of (Y/N). In reality, Kyle and the twins were beyond pissed. Zach had abused her. Not physically but mentally, and had exploited her for the success of her company to boost his own ego and channel. They pushed down the anger for (Y/N) as they knew she was hurting and them getting angry just made her more upset.

Grayson had turned on some videos on how to build a tiny house and Kyle pulled out his laptop, editing photos from a recent photoshoot that he had directed. Ethan sat on the opposite side of the couch and rested his chin on his hand. The look of (Y/N)’s face when she broke down was etched into his mind and broke his heart every time it replayed through his head. He wanted to make all of her sadness go away, he wanted that douchebag Zach to pay for the bullshit that he did to (Y/N) and he wanted to confess all of his true feelings that have been around for months to her.

“Ethan, stop daydreaming about (Y/N),” Grayson snickered.

“I’m not.” E grumbles and puts his head in his hands, tugging on his hair.

“You so are, you fuckin liar!” Grayson laughs.

“I am not! Now shut the hell up before your loud ass voice wakes her up.” Ethan gets up to pace around the living room, “Sorry, I’m just really pissed off right now. I don’t like seeing her hurt. It hurts me to see her like that.”

“It’s because Grayson’s right.” Kyle says looking up from his computer, “You’ve been in love with her for a while now.”

“How did you know?” E asks sitting back down on the couch.

“You look at her how dad looked at Ma.” Grayson responds looking straight at Ethan with intensity.

The room went quiet as Ethan thought over what his brother just said. The truth is, he’s known that he loves her for a while now. He just didn’t want to say anything about it because somehow, that made it more real. He’s scared of how he feels because he doesn’t want to get hurt, not that he thinks that she’d hurt him but the chance of it alone paralyzes him with fear. It’s scary how much she affects him, something that has become clearer and clearer as he’s seen her hurt in the past twenty-four hours. He can feel it consuming him and he’s absolutely terrified.

“I love you man,” Kyle says looking up at E, “and she could definitely do much worse than you, just don’t hurt her because I don’t think I can watch her go through anything like this again.”

“I could never hurt her, not even in my worst nightmare.”

They sit in silence again, no noise except for the T.V. quietly in the background and the sound of their own thoughts consumed the air. None of them really knew how much time had passed when (Y/N) walked into the living room, rubbing her eyes and plopping between Kyle and Grayson. She leaned her head over Kyle's shoulder and sighed as he looped his arm around her shoulders.

“How are you feeling, Simba?”

“I’m okay, getting kind of hungry though.” (Y/N) responds by moving to get up for food.

“Here I got you,” Gray says as he stands, “you stay here and relax.”

As Gray walks into the kitchen, E stands up and moves to sit by (Y/N), moving her legs into his lap and stroking the skin on her calf that’s not covered by his shorts that she was still wearing from last night. He can feel Kyle’s eyes burning into the side of his head as he gets consumed in his own thoughts again. He’s just a little overwhelmed. A little emotionally exhausted. But regardless, if he could, he would gladly absorb some of the pain that he knows for a fact she’s still feeling full force. He knows her, and he loves her. Even though he’s still scared, when he looks at her slumped on his couch against one of his best friends, he knows that she’s worth any risk of getting hurt. If someone had told him a year and a half ago that the feisty girl getting out of the car to help film was going to mean so much to him, he would have thought they were crazy. But now he’s just sitting there with overflowing amounts of love for her.

He looks up at her and finds her eyes locked back on him. In response, he gave her a little half smile and a reassuring squeeze on the leg that was still resting on his lap.

“Hey guys, dinner’s ready!” they hear Grayson hollar from inside the kitchen.

With that, the three of them get up and go to meet Ethan’s twin in the kitchen to sit down for somewhat of a family dinner.

Minnesota Twins-Boston Red Sox Series Preview

The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins split a four-game series with the Yankees in the Bronx over the weekend. The team spent Sunday night in New York before flying to Boston for an off day on Monday. The Twins hope to get guys back from the injured list. Jorge Polanco is 5-for-18 during his rehab assignment in Fort Myers. Alex Kirilloff is 3-for-12 during his rehab stint for the Mighty Muscles. Joey Gallo went 2-for-12 with seven strikeouts with the Saints over the weekend. Gallo will be activated for Tuesday’s game and either Kyle Garlick or Edouard Julien will be optioned to St. Paul to make room. Polanco is closer to coming back than Kirilloff. Donovan Solano has been the starting first basemen with Joey Gallo out. He is hitting .340 with four doubles so far. The starting pitching has been solid for the Twins and the team extended Pablo Lopez to a four-year, $73.5 million deal. The starters own a 2.58 ERA, which is the best in baseball. Jorge Lopez hasn’t allowed a run through 6 2/3 innings to start the year. Brent Headrick was called up to be the long man for the time being out of the bullpen.

The Red Sox At A Glance- The Red Sox had a rough start at (5-8) then they took three out of four this weekend over the Angels. The Halos won the series finale on a rainy Boston Marathon game. Rafael Devers is hitting the ball well with seven homers and sixteen RBI on the young season. Adam Duvall was off to a good start before breaking his wrist. Trevor Story might miss the whole season with an eblow injury. James Paxton is working his way back from a hamstring injury. Alex Verdugo is hitting .328 on the year. Boston is averaging over five runs per game. The Red Sox starting pitching has been awful. They own a 6.45 ERA, which is twenty-eighth in baseball. Chris Sale and Corey Kluber have had a rough start to the season. The Boston bullpen is much better with a 3.55 ERA. Kenley Jansen has locked down four saves and thrown five shutout innings. John Schreiber, Josh Winckowski, and Chris Martin have been good set-up men.

What To Watch For- The Twins were (4-3) against the Red Sox in 2022. They split a four-game series in April then took a three-game series at Target Field in August. Sonny Gray is (1-7) with a 6.80 ERA in ten starts against the Sox. Chris Sale is (11-6) with a 3.91 ERA in twenty-nine games against the Twins. Joe Ryan is (1-1) with a 4.91 ERA in two games versus Boston. Corey Kluber is (10-7) with a 3.33 ERA in twenty-four starts against Minnesota. Kenta Maeda has a 4.50 ERA in two starts against the Red Sox. Tanner Houck owns a 2.61 ERA in 10 1/3 career innings against the Twins. These two teams are polar opposites. The Red Sox can hit and their starting pitching is off to a rough start. The Twins have pitched their way to wins so far. Both bullpens are solid as well.

A/n: so I got an ad for this poncho and got an idea

You had been spending time online while the boys planned out what to do with the van when you saw it.

You knew it was going to be cold when you were traveling through the country and while you knew it was probably going to be the stupidest thing you’ve ever bought, you knew it would be useful.

It was a ridiculously huge hoodie that was almost part blanket. It was ugly and you knew it. But it looked so comfortable and warm, before you knew it you had already hit check out and now all you had to do was wait for it to be delivered.

The van was finally done and your package had finally arrived. You took it out of the box it came in and felt just how soft it actually was. You decided to try it on.

“What the hell are you wearing?” Ethan had not been expecting to walk in to see you wearing what he could only describe as a blanket poncho.

“A hoodie… or blanket,” you yourself weren’t quite sure what it was.

“Babe, I love you but it looks ridiculous.”

“Hey!” While you agreed with him completely on that, you didn’t want him to say it.

“Sorry, are you packed?” He apologized through a laugh. “We’re leaving in the morning.”

“Yeah,” you took it off and folded it before placing it at the edge of the bed.

“Love you,” maybe teasing you about the hoodie wasn’t the best idea.

“Mhm,” you nodded your head.

“Babe,” he knew you weren’t really upset with him but still.

“Love you too.”

With that Ethan left to go help Grayson pack what they could into the van.

The next morning you woke up to Ethan shaking you awake and made your way to the shower while the boys filmed. While you were going with them, you weren’t really going to be in the video, just in the background.

You were taking the back row the boys left up. Kyle has offered his spot in the middle of the bed and while it was a kind gesture, you weren’t about to make the tallest one cram themselves onto the backseat. You were able to fall asleep just about anywhere so it really wasn’t a problem for you.

After everyone had loaded their stuff in, you found yourself just laying in the back with Ethan while he slept. Occasionally you would chime in on what conversation the boys were having in the front but for the most part you just laid there, appreciating the ride.

When it was finally time to get some rest the boys set up the bed in the back and you threw down some blankets to be more comfortable. You had no idea why the boys thought it would be a good idea to stop in the middle of Colorado during winter, but you had to work with what you had.

The boys fell asleep fast and it took you awhile because of how cold it was. Then you remembered what you packed. You grabbed the ugly blanket poncho and put it on, immediately feeling warmer.

Once you were warm, you were out.

You woke up to the sound of the boys complaining how cold they were and you sat up from your spot. You stared at them without really saying anything. You yourself didn’t really have a problem with the cold.

The boys looked at you and saw how not miserable you looked and how well rested you were. Well, rested enough for the two hours you got. Ethan came over and grabbed your hands, thinking you would be cold but was surprised at how warm you were.

“Why aren’t you… you brought that thing?” He finally noticed you were wearing the thing he had mocked earlier.

“Not so ridiculous now is it?” You said smugly. Standing up the stretch, you saw Grayson eyeing the hoodie. You knew he was supposed to drive first but you also knew how cranky he could be when he was tired.

“Wanna borrow it? I’ll drive for a while,” you offered.

“Are you serious?” Ethan couldn't believe you didn’t offer it to him.

“No, it’s okay,” Grayson declined.

“Grayson, you’re mean when you’re tired,” you ignored Ethan’s glare from the side. After taking it off you handed it to Grayson who slipped it on and immediately felt your lingering warmth.

Despite Grayson not having any romantic feelings towards you at all, and knowing damn well you were with Ethan, he could have sworn he would marry you on the spot from how much warmer he got. He threw himself back down on the bed and was out.

You moved to the drivers seat and started the GPS while Ethan sat in the passenger seat.

“That’s fucked up,” he commented as he looked back to see Grayson asleep looking warm.

“Could’ve been you if you didn’t make fun of it,” you shrugged.

“Are you serious?” He didn’t think you were actually mad about it.

“I’m just saying, you thought it was stupid. Grayson didn’t say anything so he gets the weird poncho.” While you weren’t mad at him at all, it really was about not wanting to deal with a grumpy Grayson for the whole day.

Throughout the day Ethan got over it and the poncho was passed around from person to person. Ethan had to admit it was really, really, warm.

Night came around and as much as they didn’t want to, they gave it back to you to go to bed. The boys were complaining in the back and fighting over the blankets so they could get warm.

Someone got up and you heard footsteps coming towards you.

“Can we share?” Ethan appeared next to you, pillow in hand and looking completely exhausted. You took off your blanket and hoodie and stood up.

The two of you managed to fit into the poncho and pulled the blanket around yourselves.

“I’m sorry I said it was stupid,” he apologized again.

“It’s okay, really. It kind of is to be completely honest,” you let out a small laugh.

“Can you two shut up so we can sleep?” You heard Grayson yell from the back.

“I get why you gave it to him first,” Ethan admitted at hearing his brother complain.

“Shut up!” Grayson and this time Kyle yelled.

The both of you let out one more laugh before he wrapped his arms around you and you fell asleep, both of you completely warm in the best thing you ever purchased.
