Surah Al-Kahf | The Cave

Transliteration

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem 

1. Alhamdu lillaahil lazeee anzala 'alaa 'abdihil kitaaba wa lam yaj'al lahoo 'iwajaa 2. Qaiyimal liyunzira ba'asan shadeedam mil ladunhu wa yubashshiral mu'mineenal lazeena ya'maloonas saalihaati anna lahum ajran hasanaa 3. Maakiseena feehi abadaa 4. Wa yunziral lazeena qaalut takhazal laahu waladaa 5. Maa lahum bihee min 'ilminw wa laa li aabaaa'ihim; kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwaahihim; iny yaqooloona illaa kazibaa 6. Fala'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka 'alaaa aasaarihim illam yu'minoo bihaazal hadeesi asafaa 7. Innaa ja'alnaa ma 'alal ardi zeenatal lahaa linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu 'amalaa 8. Translation

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1. Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 2. (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, 3. Wherein they shall remain for ever: 4. Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 5. No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 6. Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. 7. That which is on earth we have made but as a glittering show for the earth, in order that We may test them - as to which of them are best in conduct. 8. Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). 9. Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 10. Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!".

الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللّهَ قِيَاماً وَقُعُوداً وَعَلَىَ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا

خَلَقْتَ هَذا بَاطِلاً سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ مَن تُدْخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُ وَمَا

لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ

رَّبَّنَا إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي لِلإِيمَانِ أَنْ

فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّي لاَ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَامِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَى بَعْضُكُم مِّن بَعْضٍ فَالَّذِينَ هَاجَرُواْ وَأُخْرِجُواْ مِن دِيَارِهِمْ وَأُوذُواْ فِي سَبِيلِي وَقَاتَلُواْ وَقُتِلُواْ لأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَلأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ ثَوَابًا مِّن عِندِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ عِندَهُ حُسْنُ الثَّوَابِ

لاَ يَغُرَّنَّكَ تَقَلُّبُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي الْبِلادِ

مَتَاعٌ قَلِيلٌ ثُمَّ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ

لَكِنِ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا نُزُلاً مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ وَمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّلأَبْرَارِ

وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَمَن يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ خَاشِعِينَ لِلَّهِ لاَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اصْبِرُواْ وَصَابِرُواْ وَرَابِطُواْ وَاتَّقُواْ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

آل عمران الآيات 190-200

Translation

The prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite these verses upon waking up at night, before night prayer: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding * Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire..." [to the end of the surah]

Aal-Imraan 3:190-200

Transliteration

(190) inna fee khalqis-samaawaati wal-arḍi wakhtilaaaf-il-llayli wan-nahaari la-aayaat-in li oolil-albaab

(191) alladheena yadhkuroon-allaaha qiyaaman wa qu‛oodan wa ‛alaa junoobihim wa yatafakkaroona fee khalqis-samaawaati wal-arḍi rabbanaa maa khalaqta haadhaa baaṭilan subḥaanaka fa qinaa ‛adhaab-an-naar

(192) rabbanaaa innaka man tudkhilin-naara faqad akhzaytahu wa maa liẓ-ẓaalimeena min anṣaar

(193) rabanaaa innanaa sami‛naa munaadee-an yunaadee lil-eemaani an aaminoo birabbikum fa-aamannaa rabbanaaa faghfir lanaa dhunoobanaa wa kaffir ‛annaa sayyi’aatinaa watawaffanaa ma‛al-abraar

(194) rabbanaa wa aatinaa maa wa‛adttanaa ‛alaaٰ rusulika wa laa tukhzinaa yawm-al-qiyaamati innaka laa tukhliful-mee‛aad

(195) faastajaaba lahum rabbuhum annee laa uḍee‛u ‛amala ‛aamilin minkum min dhakarin aw unthaaaٰ ba‛ḍukum minۢ ba‛ḍin fal-ladheena haajaroo wa ukhrijoo min diyaarihim wa oodhoo fee sabeelee wa qaataloo wa qutiloo la ukaffiranna ‛anhum sayyi’aatihim wa la udkhilannahum jannaatin tajree min taḥtihal-anhaaru thawaaban min ‛indillaah wallaahu ‛indahu ḥusnuth-thawaab

(196) laa yaghurrannaka taqallubul-ladheena kafaroo fil-bilaad

(197) mataa‛un qaleelun thumma ma’waahum jahannamu wabi’sal-mihaad

(198) laakinil-ladheenat-taqaw rabbahum lahum jannaatun tajree min taḥtihal-anhaaru khaalideena feehaa nuzulan min ‛indillaahi wa maa ‛indallaahi khayrun lil-abraar

(199) wa inna min ahlil-kitaabi laman yu’minu billaahi wa maa unzila ilaykum wa maaa unzila ilayhim khaashi‛eena lillaahi laa yashtaroona bi-aayaatillaahi thamanan qaleelan oo۟laaۤ’ika lahum ajruhum ‛inda rabbihim innallaaha saree‛-ul-ḥisaab

(200) yaaۤ ayyuhal-ladheena aamanuṣ-biroo wa ṣaabiroo wa raabiṭooa wat-taqullaaha la‛allakum tufliḥoon

DUA FOR INCREASE AND BLESSINGS IN WEALTH & CHILDREN

To supplicate for ourselves say:

اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالَي وَوَلَدَي، وَبَارِكْ لَي فيما أعطيتني

Allahumma akthir mali wa waladi, wa barik-li fima a’taitani

O Allah increase my wealth and offspring and bless me in what you have provided for me

For someone in front of you (in brackets for plural):

اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالَكَ (مَالَكُم) وَوَلَدَكَ (وَوَلَدَكُم)، وَبَارِكْ لَكَ (وَبَارِكْ لَكُم) فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَكَ (فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَكُم)

Allahumma akthir malak (malakum) wa waladak (wa waladakum), wa barik-lak (wa barik-lakum) fima a’taitak (fima a’taitakum)

O Allah increase his/her (their) wealth and offspring and bless him/her (them) in what you have provided for him/her (them)

For someone not present (in brackets for plural):

It is proven from the below hadith that we can make dua for increase in wealth and children:

From Qatada who said: I heard Anas saying: I heard Umm Sulaym who said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Make Dua’ to Allah for Anas’, The Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said: ‘O Allah increase his wealth and offspring and bless him in what you have provided for him.’ [Collected by Bukhari 6334 and others]

Al-Albani Commented:

There are many benefits in this hadeeth, I will mention some of them briefly, except where detail is necessary:

1- That supplicating for increase in wealth and offspring is something which is legislated.

Bukhari has a chapter heading for this hadeeth: ‘Chapter: Supplicating for blessings in having lots of wealth and offspring.’

2- And that wealth and offspring are a blessing and goodness if Allaah -Tabaraka wa Ta’ala is obeyed in respect to them. How misguided is the one who tries to limit how many children they have, using so many different means, like birth control or regulating it, let alone aborting the foetus and for the most insignificant reasons, and obtaining Fatawa to make their actions permissible !!

3- Allah answered the Dua’ of His Prophet –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– for Anas, and it became reality, until he became the one with the most wealth and offspring from amongst the Ansar. …..

#EdiEdisiBelajarNgaji

Salah satu surah di Al-Qur’an yang sangat aku nikmati membacanya adalah surah-surah yang menceritakan kisah kaum-kaum atau kejadian terdahulu. Seperti surah Yusuf, Al-Kahf. Dan salah satu surah favoritku adalah surah Asy-Syu’ara’.

Hal yang menakjubkan bagiku adalah pola cerita yang sangat konsisten dalam surah ini. Surah ini bercerita tentang rasul-rasul terdahulu yaitu Musa, Ibrahim, Nuh, Hud (kaum Ad), Salih (kaum Samud), Luth, Syuaib (penduduk Aikah).

Kekonsistensian yang ku maksud di atas adalah apa yang diucapkan setiap rasul di atas kepada kaum mereka yang melampaui batas. Mereka semua mengatakan hal yang sama.

iz qoola lahum akhuuhum nuuhun alaa tattaquun

Ketika saudara mereka (Nuh) berkata kepada mereka, "Mengapa kamu tidak bertakwa?

innii lakum rosuulun amiin

Sesungguhnya aku ini seorang rasul kepercayaan (yang diutus) kepadamu,

fattaquiloha wa athiluun

maka bertakwalah kamu kepada Allah dan taatlah kepadaku.

wa maaa as-alukum 'alaihi min ajr, in ajriya illaa 'alaa robbil-'aalamiin

Dan aku tidak meminta imbalan kepadamu atas ajakan itu; imbalanku hanyalah dari Tuhan seluruh alam,

Kisah-kisah rasul tersebut diceritakan satu per satu. Dan pembuka dari cerita tiap rasul tersebut merupakan perkataan sang rasul kepada kaumnya. Dan perkataan mereka semua sama. Dari Musa hingga Syuaib.

Don’t you think it’s mesmerizing?? I mean, nabi Musa hingga Syuaib hidup di masa yang berbeda. Tetapi pesan yang mereka sampaikan persis sama.

Kekonsistensian berikutnya adalah di tiap akhir cerita masing-masing rasul tersebut, Allah berfirman

inna fii zaalika la-aayah, wa maa kaana aks aruhum mu-miniin

Sungguh, pada yang demikian itu terdapat tanda (kekuasaan Allah), tetapi kebanyakan mereka tidak beriman.

wa inna robbaka lahuwal-'aziizur-rohiim

Dan sungguh, Tuhanmu benar-benar Dialah Maha Perkasa, Maha Penyayang.

Lalu aku berpikir, kenapa ya dua firman itu selalu diulang-ulang? Terutama bagian “maha penyayang.” I mean, seperti kontradiksi sekali ga sih ketika diceritakan azab yang menimpa kaum-kaum di atas lalu Allah berfirman “Dan sungguh, Tuhanmu benar-benar Dialah Perkasa, Maha Penyayang.”

Kemudian aku menemukan jawabannya di ayat 208-209.

wa maaa ahlaknaa ming qoryatin illaa lahaa mungziruun

Dan Kami tidak membinasakan sesuatu negeri, kecuali setelah ada orang-orang yang memberi peringatan kepadanya;

Zikroo, wa maa kunnaa zhoolimiin

untuk (menjadi) peringatan. Dan Kami tidak berlaku zalim.

Ingat bunyi surah Yunus ayat 44?

Sesungguhnya Allah tidak menzalimi manusia sedikitpun, tetapi manusia itulah yang menzalimi dirinya sendiri 🥲🥲☝️

Sudah diberi peringatan, didatangkan pembawa pesan (nabi dan rasul), diberikan waktu untuk bertaubat. Tapi manusianya malah menantang untuk dipercepat datangnya azab tersebut karena tidak percaya.

Lalu ketika azab itu datang dan manusia yang mati dihidupkan kembali dan sadar merupakan kaum merugi, mereka mengungkapkan keinginan untuk dihidupkan lagi di dunia meski barang cuma sehari agar mereka bisa bertakwa kepada Allah. Dan pesan ini berkali-kali aku temukan di Al-Qur’an.

Lalu setelah diceritakan tentang nabi Syuaib, dalam surah tersebut menceritakan tentang Al-Qur’an dan nabi Muhammad saw.

Terussss, aku mikir.

Ya Allah, bukankah nabi Muhammad saw juga seorang rasul? Bukankah kami termasuk kaumnya? Bukankah nabi Muhammad juga membawa peringatan dan kabar gembira?

Dan meski nabi Muhammad saw telah lama wafat, bukankah peringatan dan kabar gembira tersebut “selalu” disampaikan dalam Al-Qur’an?

Dan bukankah kita juga diberi penangguhan waktu untuk bertaubat? Dari nabi Muhammad diutus menjadi seorang rasul hingga sekarang, sudah berjalan berapa lama sih? (Please you do your math).

Pertanyaannya, apakah kita sudah menjadi manusia yang bertakwa?

Ketika aku membaca asbabun nuzul dari surah ini, hatiku rasanya getir sekali.
