gdybyście mieszkali w Warszawie, czy was larp nazywałby się "Lalka" zamiast "Ziemia obiecana"?
if you lived in Warszawa, would your larp be called "Lalka" instead of Promiseland?
you have no idea how much i love this comment jhgfhj
No.
If we were from Warsaw we would be called "Children of the W hour" and it would be sick also we would get cancelled for joking about world war ii.
The book by Władysław Rejmont and the movie by Andrzej Wajda that share the name with us, have this moody, blasphemous, queer, xix century vibe that we share as a group.
Also "The Promiseland" has kind of a ring to it, that "The Doll" wouldn't at least for me.
"Lalka" even as the warsaw-book in a sense, wouldn't have the same coalition of everything that we deem important to our souls and asses.
((...tho' Kitku kins the Stanisław Wokulski H A R D))
Lalka is a title that doesn't say shit about what Warsaw is for people, only that Prus thinks Łęcka is a doll. Also fuck Prus this bitch was a whore and was living out of Żeromski's and his wife's pocket.

"I work, my lord, to live and secure my pension for when I'm old.
And I do not care about the title: I already had so many of them!...
The world is similar to amateur theater, it is indecent to push yourself into the leading role and reject the background roles.
In the end, any role is good as long as it is played with artistry and not taken too seriously."
"Pracuję, panie, aby żyć i zabezpieczyć sobie rentę na starość.
A o tytuł nie dbam: tyle ich już miałem!…
Świat podobny jest do amatorskiego teatru więc nieprzyzwoicie jest pchać się w nim do ról pierwszych, a odrzucać podrzędne.
Wreszcie, każda rola jest dobra, byle grać ją z artyzmem i nie brać jej zbyt poważnie."

I was thinking of Lalka in the middle of the night as one does and it came to my head that something absolutely unique about Wokulski as a main character in a 19th century novel is the fact that he straight up married an older woman for money as a young man which is a storyline usually reserved for women in literature (and then the narrative usually punishes them for it which ofc doesn’t happen to Wokulski, his misery comes from other places)
