I actually really like that I have obscure and pointless knowledge about game stuff.
Like, I'm not an encyclopedia, but god damn.
Most of the time I think that everyone knows what I know so what's special about my particular manner of having an interest, but then I realize "Oh, oh right that's not common knowledge. Oh, oh right that's from a book I read specifically to know more about an already niche part of games. Oh, oh yeah."
Like I recognize Mappy at a glance. The more years pass by this Earth the less recognizable seeing either the game itself or the mouse on the cover becomes, I got it locked in my head case.
Tumblr media
R-Zone? I got it up there at all times, ready to go, you won't slip that thing passed me.
Tumblr media
Oh is that the Vectrex? My beloved???
Tumblr media
You didn't know there was an infinite soldier spawning glitch in The Outfit from 2006? You don't remember THE OUTFIT? Only one of the first year games for the 360, how didn't you remember it???
Tumblr media
What?? You didn't know that the winter 1999 Gamepro magazine said "Pokesex?" in it? But that's burned into my brain forever because I read it as a kid and immediately got nervous that I shouldn't let my mom see it since I was a huge pokemon fan!!
Tumblr media
Oh, oh right.

MASTER HAND: The second game in the series is “Super Smash Bros. Melee” for Nintendo GameCube! For the game’s newcomers, we have the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. (Bowser stomps to center stage, throws his head back and swivels it in a circle, roaring.)

MASTER HAND: The next fighter number goes to a young duo that climb icy summits in their spare time. “The Bone-Chilling Duo”, number 15, the Ice Climbers!
Theme: Victory! Ice Climbers by GB6
(The Ice Climbers step to center stage and point their hammers diagonally and upward.)
Tumblr media
POPO AND NANA: Yup!
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, "Ice Climber" for Arcade.
MASTER HAND: Popo is in blue, and Nana is in pink. Next is someone’s alter ego. They would help Link by leading him to the temples and teaching him songs to warp to them. Welcome “The Illusive Sheikah”, number 16, Sheik!
Theme: Victory! Sheik by GB6
(Sheik maneuvers to center stage, pulls out the tripwire she uses for Burst Grenade and stretches it out.)
Tumblr media
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” for the Nintendo 64.
MASTER HAND: Sheik’s real identity boasts magical attacks. A descendant and incarnation of the Goddess Hylia who is reborn throughout the ages. She is “Hyrule’s Wise Princess”, number 17, Princess Zelda!

(Zelda steps to center stage, then creates fire from her fingertip and waves it around.)
Tumblr media
ZELDA: Wisdom is the key.
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “The Legend of Zelda” for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Her dress and hairstyle are a mix of her designs from “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past” for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and “The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds” for the Nintendo 3DS.
MASTER HAND: The Mushroom Kingdom’s deadliest medical caretaker is next. When dealing with pesky viruses that cause Fevers or Chills, he loses his hat, dons a coat, a doctor's light, and a stethoscope. He is “The Prescriber”, number 18, Dr. Mario!
Theme: Victory! Dr. Mario by GB6
(Dr. Mario steps to center stage, pulls a pen from his ear, and writes on his clipboard.)
DR. MARIO: I have a diagnosis. All of you have a very big case of Hype-For-Smash-osis. Heavily contagious, and doesn't seem to have a cure.
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “Dr. Mario” for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Nintendo Game Воу.
MASTER HAND: The next fighter is the Tiny Mouse Pokémon, and the pre-evolved Pikachu. Discovered in the Johto region, it has the same properties as its older counterpart, but has little control over its abilities. Meet “The Mischievous Electric Shock”, number 19, Pichu!
Theme: Victory! Pichu by GB6
(Pichu steps to center stage, then jumps and waves at the audience.)
Tumblr media
PICHU: Pichu!
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “Pokémon Gold and Silver” for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.
MASTER HAND: The next fighter is the ace pilot of the Star Fox mercenaries and Fox’s wingman and trusted ally. Presenting “The Proud Space Ace”, number 20, Falco Lombardi!
Theme: Victory! Falco by GB6
(Falco leaps out of his Landmaster and lands at center stage.)
Tumblr media
FALCO: Personally, I prefer the air!
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “Star Fox” for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
MASTER HAND: Now, let’s bring out the prince of Altea, “The Hero-King”, number 21, Marth!
Theme: Victory! Marth - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
(Marth steps to center stage and swings the Falchion around.)
Tumblr media
MARTH: Keep your eyes open!
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light” for the Nintendo Famicom!
MASTER HAND: Wondered who Link was as a child? Wonder no more. Here is “The Master of the Ocarina”, number 22, Young Link!
Theme: Victory! Young Link by Comet Mystic
(Young Link steps to center stage and holds the Kokiri Sword overhead triumphantly in the air.)
Tumblr media
YOUNG LINK: Hyah!
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” for the Nintendo 64.
MASTER HAND: Also from this game is the legendary Gerudo, immortal King of Evil and reincarnation of the Demon King Demise’s hatred for Hylia and her chosen hero, “The King of Darkness”, number 23, Ganondorf Dragmire!
Theme: Victory! Ganondorf by GB6
(Ganondorf steps to center stage, then unsheathes his sword, looks at it while sporting a mocking smirk as the blade’s tip pulses with dark magic, then sheathes it.)
Tumblr media
GANONDORF: Sorya!
MASTER HAND: The Genetic Pokémon and one of the original Legendaries, created to be the most powerful Pokémon of all is “The Re-awoken Legend”, number 24, Mewtwo!
Theme: Victory! Mewtwo by GB6
(Mewtwo steps to center stage, then folds its arms as it telekinetically spins around on the spot while laughing ominously.)
Tumblr media
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “Pokémon Red and Blue” for the Nintendo Game Boy.
MASTER HAND: Next up is the son of Eliwood, who was called in to take his place due to illness. He’s led the armies of Pherae and defeated a corrupted divine dragon at the ripe age of fifteen. Meet “The Young Lion”, number 25, Roy!
Theme: Victory! Roy by GB6
(Roy steps to center stage and triumphantly holds the Binding Blade overhead.)
Tumblr media
ROY: Failure is not an option!
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, well... “Super Smash Bros. Melee”. Why is this the case? Because his planned debut game, “Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade” for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, was delayed to a release date after “Melee”.
MASTER HAND: Our next fighter is the epitome of old school, but not a distinct previously-existing character, but rather a conglomeration of various different characters that appeared in the myriad "Game & Watch" games. He is “The Master of Two Dimensions”, number 26, Mr. Game & Watch!
Theme: Victory! Mr. Game & Watch - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
(Mr. Game & Watch steps to center stage and rings his bell around.)
Tumblr media
CRAZY HAND: First appearance, on the Nintendo Game & Watch, specifically, “Ball”.

What I'd Hope A Star Fox Adventures Remake Would Be Like
I use tumblr as a dumping ground for my thoughts on various things. I fully believe no one would care enough to read any of this even if they did stumble on it at random. So that's why I'm slapping this post in. Just to get it out of my head because I'm frustrated there's no Star Fox on Switch... yet. There's very little hope but there is maybe like a 0.01% chance we'd get a Star Fox game.
For the past two weeks I've been thinking about Star Fox Adventures, my favorite Star Fox game because dinosaurs, staff combat, and collectables. However, the more I think about it the more major problems with the game make themselves known.
Such as Krystal being stuck inside a crystal for the entire game until the end where she joins Fox's crew without proving her qualifications. Along with Falco who just shows up. When and why did he just appear for no reason?
This is why I think Star Fox Adventures should have a full blown reassembly remake full new game with same name. Much like Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Zero.... Look, if Nintendo is willing to remake the first Star Fox they can do the same for the other three in the franchise.
It is my understanding that majority of Star Fox fans love the 3 branching paths from the first game. Therefore I think it would be a good idea to implement 3 paths with Adventures. BUT the paths are based on the character you choose. Those being Fox, Krystal, and Falco.
The reason for this is to give each of them their own story line instead of Fox soloing the krazoa spirits and force point temples. As well as give a reason for Falco being near dinosaur planet.
Fox's path might be the easiest with his focus being on collecting Force Point crystals. One for each classical element but different name like Volcano, Ocean, Sky, and Forest. Taking some inspiration from Ocarina of Time but so did the first iteration of the game. It would also be nice to see different Force Point Temples instead of the same two twice. I would also insist Fox have his blaster, keeping it the way it was before but replace staff combat with his Smash Bros set.
I'd also suggest Fox using the snow horn and earth walker as substitute landmasters. Feel like Fox using blasters on top of prehistoric creatures would be more fun. Particularly if you use controls similar to the landmaster for it.
Krystal would be focused on collecting the krazoa spirits because a mysterious mystical entity told her it would help save the planet. Unlike the Gamecube game, Krystal would not be ambushed by some... thing.... and trapped in a crystal. Instead, she continues searching for the spirits, fights sharpclaws with her staff, and returns the spirits to the mystery entity.
Each krazoa spirit would have a trial for her and she could upgrade her staff along the way.
Falco would be stealthier gameplay. Implementing disguise kit and 3D platforming more than the other two. He'd, of course, use the same type of combat Fox has but be faster.
Since the lore says he was bored of Star Fox not getting any jobs, I'd figure him being a solo merc bumming around would do well enough to explain what he was doing prior to dinosaur planet. Keeping the story solution simple, Falco gets hired by an old friend who came across files of Andros making deals with General Scales to supply higher technology on a low tech planet in exchange for magical secrets. Because magic exists in Star Fox universe. What else would krazoa spirits be?
Anyhow, that's how I explain Falco being on dinosaur planet. Just taking up a job to figure out what General Scales is doing now that Andros is (supposed to be) dead.
Not so subtle; Andros is the mysterious entity Krystal been giving krazoa spirits to and the giant monkey is using them to reconstruct himself as a resurrection ritual. Krystal's big boss fight is against Scales who seeks to resurrect Andros to continue their deal and take over dinosaur planet under Andros' empire.
Wanted to give General Scales more menacing presence this time around so I would have him be the big boss of all three paths before the final boss, Andros, which uses arwing gameplay (Krystal uses a cloud runner and her staff). The arwing gameplay reoccurs between land missions (Falco having the most arwing time).
For the most part the game would not be far different than the Gamecube one. However, various additions and small changes would be beneficial.
These are just my ideas for a game I don't think will ever be seen. Think there's a ton of people around the internet doing fan games of Star Fox implementing dinosaur planet with explosions and arwing and landmaster combat. Not sure if they're much better than my ideas of simply adding to the previous game. But it's still more than what Nintendo gives us with Star Fox.
I personally hope we get Adventures and Assault on Switch or at least Assault. Assault was more of a Star Fox game and it continued the story much better. Oh well, there's always 64 with the online subscription...

Transformers Collaborative Toys I Legit Want But Will Never Happen:
The Landmaster from Damnation Alley
The supernatural black Dodge M4S Turbo Interceptor from The Wraith
The psychic death tank from Psychonauts
Megaweapon from Warrior of the Lost World
The protagonist from the game The Guardian Legend (who's already a transforming robot!)
Basically anything from After Man/The Future Is Wild
Any of the actual IRL cars Ed Roth built, ala the Orbitron, the Mysterion, the Beatnik Bandit, ect
Basically anything from Masters of the Universe (Because Mattel being Hasbro's biggest rival and all)
The red stapler from Office Space
The Rockin Roadster from Jem and the Holograms
The big stupid custom monster truck from Rolling Vengance
Wario's car from Wario Land 4
Sophia from Blaster Master
Sinistar, as a planetformer
Grond from Lord of the Rings
The ADF-01 Falken from Ace Combat
The knife from the movie Cobra
The Turbokat from SWATKats
The Hound from Farenheight 458 (the book version)
The Metal Slug from Metal Slug
The Green Goblin truck from Maximum Overdrive
The Killer Rabbit and the Holy Hand Grenade from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The tank from the original arcade Battlezone, designed to look like it's made out of vector graphics
Nintendo Gamecube, with a "wing pack" made of the controller
SCP-682 (Hasbro'd probably balk at the Share-Alike license)
Basically anything from Wacky Races
The SS Dolphin from Pikmin
The Electric Mayhem bus from the Muppets
The Psychic Tandem War Elephant from Adventure Time
a Killer Tomato from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (with a fembot alt-mode because deep cuts)
And that's the ones I can think of at the moment. Add your own in the reblogs and maybe, against the will of God and nature, Hasbro might hypothetically take notice and pony up the license...
...Or, at least maybe somebody'd draw fanart of these hypotheticals! That'd still be pretty rad!

Star Fox 64 / Lylat Wars
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JP release: 27th April 1997
NA release: 30th June 1997
PAL release: 4th October 1997
Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
N64 Magazine Score: 91%
Tumblr media
Star Fox 64 (or Lylat Wars as I knew it as a kid) is a fast-paced on-rails shooter made by Nintendo. The gameplay is extremely solid. Fox’s Awring has lasers that you can charge up for a lock-on, along with limited bombs. Movement is fast and precise and you can perform loops and barrel rolls – the latter reflects bullets.
Tumblr media
If you complete levels normally, you’ll go through a really fun route through the game. On top of the on-rails levels, you’ll also encounter “all range mode” where you can fly in 3D. These typically aren’t as “cinematic” as the on-rails levels, but still a lot of fun.
Tumblr media
Slippy will get attacked by one of the bosses and will crash land on a planet, here you get to use the Landmaster, a tank that is also really fun to use. You can hover temporally and barrel rolls will now move you across most of the screen.
Tumblr media
To get to the credits for the first time, Star Fox 64 is a very short game, but that’s because it’s made to be replayed for a high score, and because it’s so much fun, you don’t mind doing so, trying to get a higher score than last time – but that’s not all of it.
Tumblr media
Most missions in the game has a secret objective, complete this and you’ll get “Mission Accomplished” and to a different mission, the “hard route” will take you across some more challenging missions, although personally this is my least favourite route of the games – while all missions but one of the missions in Star Fox 64 are good, I do think these are some of the weaker ones, plus the one bad mission is in this route.
Tumblr media
The underwater level. It’s slow, plodding and is rather boring. The bombs are replaced with infinite torpedoes which also light up the way, because the level is also dark and dreary. This is easily the worst part of the game, but at least it’s just the one mission.
Tumblr media
Some of my favourite missions are in the middle, including the best all-range mission as you fight an Independence Day-style UFO and the second Landmaster tank mission as you chase a train.
Once you’ve played all the levels, there are also gold medals to unlock, which are extremely difficult. A level select at this point would be nice so you wouldn’t have to work through previous levels, but it does provide something to work towards.
Star Fox 64 is a incredibly fun game, and one you can just have a quick blast through every now and then.
It’s action packed. It’s technically eye-boggling. It works on a number of levels, being easy enough to be fun but with taxing bits if you search for them. It’s got exciting music. It’s unpredictable. It’s imaginative. It’s got massive explosions. It builds up steadily to a spectacular ending. It’s got everything, in other words, that you look for in a good movie – but in a game. It’s brilliant.
- Jonathan Davies, N64 Magazine #3
Remake or Remaster?
A new console remaster would be great – have options to toggle between N64 and 3DS graphics, music and voices (using the higher quality original recordings for the N64 version), some level select options, (perhaps with separate leaderboards for doing induvial levels), widescreen and things like that.
Official ways to get the game
There is no way to buy a new copy of Star Fox 64, the only official way to play is to rent it via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pak.
Other Versions
Star Fox 64 3D
The 3DS got a remake of Star Fox 64, with various enhancements. I personally think the graphic lack the charm of the original (especially the water on Corneria), and the new voice acting and music aren’t quite the same.
Re-releases
2003: iQue
2007: Wii Virtual Console
2016: Wii U Virtual Console
2011: Star Fox 64 3D (remake, 3DS)

Holy Grail: Which figure do you want the most?
Crossover: Is there a series that you’d like to see a crossover of with Transformers?
Meet & Greet: If you could meet only one Transformers voice actor, which would you want to meet?
@novafire-is-thinking Heya Nova! 💜 Thanks for the ask! :D (For this ask game) Holy Grail: The giant, app-remote-control, talking Optimus Prime. Oh my goodness. I've seen videos. I've beheld it in store. He is SO COOL but my poor budget...! One day. But it is not this day :') Crossover: Oooh 👀 Lol I hope you don't mind multiple answers because here they come!!! A while ago I saw this amazing art and it blew my mind. I had never crossed-over Zelda with TF before but that was so amazing!!! I would love to see more of it! Twilight Princess Maximals are amazing. There are already robots in Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild so why not make some of the Guardians into Transformers? Maybe even Titans? Each dungeon could be a Titan! Your companion character could be a Cityspeaker! The King of Red Lions in Wind Waker could be a Cybertronian! The Master Cycle could be a Cybertronian! There is so much room for crossover potential! I know it will probably not happen in canon, but oh, fandom has so much room for ideas. Transformers with Need for Speed would also be so fun. Idk how they would incorporate robot stuff into it, but I really just want a TF racing game where I can go to Velocitron and pit 'Bee and Knockout against each other, to the background of epic electric guitar, with the actual licensed car models. AND because I've been thinking about StarFox a lot lately...a Transformers-StarFox crossover!!! Arwings versus Seekers! Landmaster vs tank Megatron! It'd be SO easy and DELIGHTFUL to blend these two. Put the vehicles on rails...they could be fliers, in the air like normal StarFox gameplay, to "DO A BARREL ROLL" and aerial tricks like normal, OR you could have grounders, but because they're Cybertronian and a bit more athletic than the Landmaster, allow them to partial-transform and do flips and other wild and fun moves. And IMAGINE the fun dialogue boxes that would pop up onscreen when the characters talked over the comm link. FOX: I'll go it alone from here. OPTIMUS PRIME: Are you certain of this choice? FOX: You sound kinda nervous, Prime. Know something I don't? OPTIMUS PRIME: ...One does not say those words lightly. I have reservations about your intentions. PEPPY: It does ring a bell, Fox. FOX: I'm coming back, Peppy. I swear. PEPPY: ...You'd better. FALCO (after his ship is shot by friendly fire): Hey, Einstein, I'm on your side! MEGATRON: Ah, how unfortunate. My mistake. SLIPPY: Whoa! Megatron's aim was off? Was that...ac...actually a mistake? SOUNDWAVE (in a different font): Affirmative. Original target: Starscream. STARSCREAM: What?! Why me? What did I do wrong? *Soundwave's text box immediately floods with lines of code detailing every single thing Starscream has done wrong (mostly treachery and assassination attempts against Megatron) and the text flows so fast that the Player can't read it all before it's gone 😂 Lol these are all crossovers with video games, but I like them all :D I think they'd be GREAT. Even though they may never happen. Meet & Greet: This probably won't surprise you at all :) Peter Cullen. Optimus Prime can be written however Hasbro or whoever sees fit, but Peter Cullen is the one who made Optimus Prime into who he is. The emotion and feeling and, especially, WISDOM that he pours into his voice for this character is unmatchable. You can practically hear the millennia of Cybertron struggle; the weight and honor of the Matrix of Leadership; the quiet, longing hope for peace; in his gentle-but-mighty tones. He can convey layers of emotion through this voice, which I think is so important to Optimus' character, because in my humble opinion, Optimus needs nuance. Side note: just so we're clear, I genuinely don't have anything against the other Optimus VA's...but Peter Cullen's Optimus is just...special. All that to say: Peter Cullen's Optimi truly inspired me and I would love to meet him to say a "thank you" face-to-face. I really want to meet him soon if I can. I know he's getting up there in years. Thanks again for the ask! This was really fun :D

You magnificent bastard, books were read, etc.
I won't say this for everything in the game, but I do prefer the Landmaster / Titania level execution in "Star Fox Zero" to "Star Fox 64"'s interpretation. Watching debris rain in from the Sector β is really a sight to behold. I also don't feel quite as weighed down control-wise with the Landmaster as I did in the past. I mean, when it has a flying transformation, that's literal. But I wish to keep my point.
When I feel like I'm halfway decent at this level, I'll record it. Gotta polish the boss sequence, though. I've only gotten it to a two cycle.
