Welcome to Night Vale is a hopepunk rec I have. Especially episodes 15, 25, 56, 57, 70B, 94, 100, 104, 110, 111, 167, 170, 181, 197, 198, 202, 210, and 230.

It’s about this friendly desert community that’s basically a surveillance state. There are bimonthly town disasters, and the main character has died 8 times, and everything’s an absolute mess, but they’re a community. There are good things. They’re together.

In specific, I want to talk a bit about episode 202 — The Day After the Day. In this episode, it’s just been Valentine’s Day, which in true Night Vale fashion is actually this horrific event with death and blood. And after this day, they’re not okay, obviously they’re not okay, but some people go for a picnic. And they talk. And it’s not alright, but it’s fine.

Just a PSA, cloth masks, paper masks, surgical masks, and wet towels (among other things) are not able to protect one from wildfire smoke (Robinson 2022) (Washington State Department of Health 2019). Currently, I’ve got a wet towel over my face, and it’s helping me feel better, so if you are in a place where you are still getting the smoke inside and you don’t have an N95 mask you might want to do the wet towel method, but it’s not going to protect you from most of the harmful side effects (Robinson 2022).

To protect oneself, one’s going to want to limit their outdoor activity; wear an N95 mask outside; drink lots of water; don’t vacuum, light candles, use wood stoves, smoke, and use certain cleaning products; properly seal windows and doors; use an air purifier; and more (Environment and Climate Change Canada 2023) (Robinson 2022) (Washington State Department of Health 2019).

Howdy hermitshippers and adjacent! Sign ups to become and artist or beta for the Hermitshipping Big Bang are now open! I’ve seen a ton of these fics in their various stages of development (and even written one myself) and they’re all so cool, whichever one you draw or beta read is going to be great.

Truthfully, I haven’t really been interested in Hermitcraft and adjacent fandoms for a while, but I saw this on my dash and decided what the hell and gave it a shot, and let me say it was not a mistake. It’s great getting to ramble about fics, and ships, and also disabled representation in fanfiction, that was a good conversation. It’s been cool to participate in the Never Ending Write In. All the mods are such lovely people, the people participating are such nice people, and… it’s just a really fun event, with really cool fics to make art for.

My anxiety would absolutely get exaggerated in a dramatic way. I can totally see how that would be misinterpreted. Cause I am anxious, except irl, in most situations, I handle it (almost) perfectly and barely let it shows. I guess what you mean is that I would be written as a shy little guy who's anxious and confused asf? and the hurt/comfort... on which team would i be on??? Cause i can totally see my character be pictured in both- Correct me if I did not understood what you meant lol.

The road to the Eyepocolypse was paved with good intentions. Jon's good intentions. Jon breaks that table for Sasha, Jon tries to save the world, Jon sacrifices bits of himself to save someone he doesn't even like, Jon goes into that coffin knowing he'll likely never come out.

Jonah Magnus asks him if he's afraid. Jon says yes. Jon goes into The Lonely to save Martin. And Jonah Magnus has won, and Jon is more scar tissue than skin, and it's fourteen marks and none of them were his fucking fault, he was trying his BEST, he was trying to save Martin, he doing the right thing.

He's doing the right thing. It doesn't matter, right, he hurts people, he doesn't, he saves people, no matter what, it's out of his control, he was doing the right thing and every thing that he did that could be called saving someone is just bringing him one step closer TO THE APOCOLYPSE!!!!

Oughh I'm so bad at remembering these things >.< I'm sure I have quite a few in my older fics, but I can't recall them, so here's a few from my more recent stuff!

from my upcoming big bang fic (cw: suicide):

John lets Arthur slit his own throat, and he says, “I’m so sorry, Arthur. I love you. I’m sorry.” It’s the first time John tells Arthur he loves him. Arthur is never going to remember it.

from whiskey, the entire sex scene in chapter eight! i think it's one of the best sex scenes i've written, and i'm still quite fond of how it affects everything that comes after it.

from cicatrix (i don't care that this fic isn't very popular because i love it and it's still one of my favorite malevolent AU concepts that i've explored):

Arthur's daemon had been a seahorse named Nimh, held in a sturdy glass container that Arthur kept secured to his chest. The water had soaked through Arthur’s shirt as the container shattered and the shape within it distorted and stretched, and he’d blacked out before he could finish witnessing the corruption of his soul. Now, his daemon is a black dog with bright yellow eyes and sharp teeth who goes by the name John. Arthur’s not sure what it means for him, that the physical manifestation of his soul has not only changed its shape but the entire fabric of its being. It’s not like there’s any precedent for it. What does one do when one’s soul has been replaced with that of an eldritch god beyond our comprehension? One simply … carries on, Arthur supposes.
