From what I can tell based off different news stories I've read over the past few months, the events leading to this ceasefire proposal would be something like:

War gets unsustainable, no matter how many bombs you get from the US you just can't seem to defeat the guerrilla forces. Something that has happened in pretty much every guerrilla war in modern history, but you somehow didn't see coming.

Global pressure increases to end the war, because apparently most people are either against genocide, or want to appear to be against genocide.

You need to have a way to end the war, but it needs to also act as good PR for your country internationally, and your government domestically. Only option is to find a way to declare victory in an unwinnable war. That way you can claim internationally that all the civilian deaths were unfortunate collateral damage in a successful, and justified war, and claim domestically that your "success" shows that you're the best choice to keep your country safe.

Declare one specific goal as the biggest objective in the war: uproot Hamas from Rafah, pretending they aren't still active everywhere else in Gaza, because guerillas don't actually have one specific place they operate out of.

Attack Rafah for a couple of weeks. Don't actually achieve anything, because there is nothing to achieve there, it just needs to look like you've done something.

Send a proposal for a ceasefire that was already accepted, claiming that Hamas have been defeated enough that they're not a threat.

If Hamas accepts the agreement the next steps will probably be something like:

Go into full PR damage control mode, claiming that everything was necessary or an honest mistake. Get forgiven by every government that didn't actually care about the Palestinians, but instead just didn't want to get dragged down with you.

Try to insist back home that you won the war in order to appease the further-right members of government who have been against a ceasefire, and try to convince the civilian population that all of this was to free the hostages. Hope that your PR work is enough to maintain control of the government.

Try to help Biden with his PR work so he can win his next election (this step will fail)

Use any excuse you can to weasel out of your end of the agreement so you don't have to help rebuild Gaza.

Pretend nothing ever happened, because western powers probably won't hold you accountable even though if your country had any right to exist in the first place it sure as fuck lost it by now.

so much of what we see in star wars fanfiction was built on fanon........ i can't even count how many concepts i've seen across hundreds of fics that were made up on the spot by someone going "hey what if..." and then subsequently adopted by others who took one look at it and went "yeah i'll fold that into my idea of canon" like. that's what it's all about. communal storytelling at its finest. even if there are parts of it i don't like/disagree with, it's just really nice to see how much of it is just one long game of telephone we're all playing with each other. a game of "yes, and" decades long.............

The average robot in OneShot doesn't have a breakdown about paradoxes or the three laws or anything like what happened to TWM because if something is slightly out of their programming they just don't do it. Niko asks robots to do things for them throughout their journey and half of the time they're like "Oh, I cannot solve problems outside of this room, it is not in my programming" and then they move on with whatever it is they're built to do. The Second Law doesn't apply if they don't even know how to obey the order you give them.

idk if i can fully articulate this but i find it like, Interesting how often people seem to flinch away from the notion of a character having a genuine difficulty in academic settings that is caused by Intellect — how often people will seemingly try to get around the idea by writing something that amounts to, like “No this character is Smart, they just struggle with XYZ and if they were Accommodated for that, then they wouldn’t struggle in school” but it’s like,, why do they Have to be ‘smart’ though?
