I keep thinking about how laura lee should have lived just to see how she would have interreacted with the cult stuff and the cannibalism. She was so sure that lottie was almost like a prophet and it would have been so interesting to see how far that faith in her would have gone. Especially since they have set up lottie being the leader but natalie being the one to keep them alive and get out dynamic.

on the one hand, I'm glad the show is willing to kill important characters when push comes to shove. on the other, Laura Lee's particular faith made her fulfill a role I'm not sure any of the other ~faithful can, at least not yet or not quite in as fascinating a way as she might have (christianity is always its own brand of insane and the culty nature of usa christianity could've led to interesting places lol).

however, going into season two and Full Cult Mode, I wonder if they'll be aiming to say something with her absence, iykwim. I don't see it as clearly as with Jackie, whose (physical) removal from the narrative obviously adds to it; after all, she had a bigger part than Laura. but I'd say, once they've made the choice to kill her, the best thing would be to have that made some sort of difference into How Things Could've Gone (If Laura Was Here). my guess is that the best way to assess this would be taking a really close look at Lottie's upcoming storyline, since Laura Lee had the biggest impact on her.
