SPOILERS FOR TOTALLY KILLER (2023)
Jamie Hughes aka Jamie LaFleur in 1987 had arrived home worried out of her mind after killing the Sweet Sixteen Killer.
Was her mom still dead?
What happened to Kara, Randy, Pam and Blake?
She races home to find her mom alive. Thank Jesus Christ that she is alive!
Somethings change (she has a 34 year old brother?!?!?!) and some things stay the same (her parents are soooo cheesy).
*** Alternatively known as I agree with @gotthepynk and other tumblr people that the movie needed a cathartic scene of Pam (and Blake) acknowledging her (their) daughter as the same weirdo that showed up in 1987.

Citywide cleanup event targets 35 parks in Grand Rapids GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Dozens of volunteers spent their day picking up trash and beautifying parks in Grand Rapids. At one location, they were more focused on getting rid of invasive plants. “They always say, ‘Leave it the way you found it,’” said one volunteer. But not everyone listens. In fact, some just throw their trash wherever they want, not even thinking of the environment. That’s why volunteers around Grand Rapids spent their Saturday at several parks doing some spring cleaning. “The parks are a great asset to our city and our neighborhoods; it’s routinely one of the items that brings people to a city,” said Andrew Wahlstrom, board member for the Creston Neighborhood Association. He and about 30 other volunteers were out at Huff Park helping to beautify the landscape. “It’s great as a community for us to pitch in and help clean up either garbage or in this case invasive species,” said Wahlstrom. He helped toss some garlic mustard plants, which spread easily and are destructive. “Smells like a good dish of Italian spaghetti,” said one volunteer. Andrew educates people about the species, telling them if you see it in your backyard or at the park, it’s OK to pull out and throw away. “Each one of these plants can grow up and produce 800 seeds, which can then fall on the ground and stay dormant for 7-10 years,” said Wahlstrom, “and so getting it early like we’re doing here, there’s a lot of it but sparsely populated will prevent it from running out of control.” Saturday’s cleanup was put together by Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, and it was the first-ever “It’s My Parks” day focusing on 35 sites around the city. “These are our public spaces, these are park spaces; let’s get out and be in them,” said Lauren Davis, urban forest manager for Friends of Grand Rapids Parks. “Let’s take care of them; let’s be a resource to help people engage with their park space that we’re lucky to have 75 of them in our city.” Sometimes they’re littered with trash. “I saw a fair number of takeout containers, which is probably the result of COVID,” said Wahlstrom. “There’s more takeout happening these day, but those Styrofoam containers never break down, so those are especially important to get in the garbage.” “If you don’t have trash cans and you know there’s a place,” said Davis, “as a community member, if you have a park and there’s always trash in one spot, let the city know. It’s like, ‘Hey, can you guys put a trash can here?’ I think there are some solutions by talking to both amongst your neighbors and community members and reaching out to the city about if there’s a trash problem; what can we do about it besides ignoring it or being mad about it?” “If you enjoy being in this park and it’s green and trash free, leave it that way,” said Wahlstrom. The group cleaned up Friday and Saturday. For more volunteer events click here. CUL Digital Collections Update: October 2017
In October 2017, SMU’s Central University Libraries uploaded 311 items into CUL Digital Collections.
Highlights include:
Tumblr media
Mineral Wells, Texas, where America drinks it’s [sic] way to health., ca. 1930, DeGolyer Library, SMU.
37 pamphlets and broadsides, ca. 1880-1930, as part of the TexTreasures FY2018 grant program, sponsored by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The documents consist of printed ephemera promoting local businesses, Texas tourism, immigration to Texas, and the sale of land and real estate in Texas cities during the times of their founding and early expansion. The items include pamphlets promoting travel to cities large and small, including Memphis, Fredericksburg, Brownsville, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Tulia, Amarillo, Plainview, Dalhart, Canyon, and San Antonio. More broadsides included in this addition advertise farms, ranches, and livestock for sale in rural areas across the state. Chambers of commerce, prominent citizens, local businesses, realtors, and land agents created these promotional materials to persuade prospective residents of Texas to immigrate.
A few items in this group represent specific and historically notable efforts at populating the state. One of these items is a pamphlet from the Franco-Texan Land Company, which was based in Weatherford and advertised in France. Other notable items include a pamphlet advertising home sites in Oak Cliff, which was created by the Dallas Land & Loan Company that founded the neighborhood; a broadside advertising Texas lands from the Ohio land agent, Henry H. Hannan; a promotional pamphlet for the city of Port Arthur, created by city founder, Arthur E. Stillwell, and published by his company, the Port Arthur Land Company; and a broadside promoting land in Kimble County printed on the stationery of Andrew Jackson Royal’s Texas Star Saloon in Junction City. Royal would later be elected sheriff of Fort Stockton, a career that culminated in his yet-unsolved assassination. Other notable figures include Knight Stith, a prominent citizen of Llano, and Judge Herman Henry Butz of Fort Stockton. Additional promotional materials include a pamphlet advertising the mineral-infused drinking water and health spas of Mineral Wells and broadsides featuring the prominent businesses of Del Rio and La Grange.

Wednesday, May 3, 2017 – Calgary to Canmore
Kilometres: 121
It was hard to say goodbye, but we eventually pulled ourselves away from the wonderful hospitality of Lauren and her family, and hit the road. We explored more of the city’s great bike paths, and soon found our way to the edge of the city after crossing many bridges, and rolling through suburbs. At one point google maps wanted us to go up a very bike hill with a single track path – not ideal for our touring load! – so we wove our way through the backroads of a suburban neighbourhood.
Just as we reached the edge of the city, Rebekah checked her phone to find two voicemails – one from MSR saying that the package should have arrived, and another from Lauren saying the new fly was delivered just an hour after we left! We spent a few minutes debating turning back, checking to see if it would be faster on public transit, but it would have added an extra 3 hours to our day, and we were expected at a warmshowers hosts’ place that night. Thanking Lauren for agreeing to forward it on to Creston, we turned our wheels West.
One thing we didn’t consider when planning our route West was the wind. Today was especially difficult with a headwind of 30km/h with gusts up to 50km/h. We biked the side highway 1A, added a few extra kilometres to our day by going through Cochrane and avoiding the TransCanada highway. The scenery was gorgeous, the sun was out, and the wind made our progress frustrating and slow. The landscape rose up from foothills into the Rocky Mountains, and we were burning a lot of calories to stay upright in the wind at times.
We’d guessed that we’d be in Canmore by 6pm, however because of the wind we arrived closer to 8:30pm. The final stretch was challenging with beautiful mountain views – we even ran into some big horned sheep on just outside of time.
Our hosts Kirsten and Lyle were superstars. Rebekah texted them letting them know we’d be late, and Lyle’s response was that it was no problem and he’d have a warm shower, dinner, and a cold beer waiting for us when we made it. Lyle even met us at the entrance to the town to show us the shortcuts through the bike paths to their house. They were hosting another cyclist – Daiske from Japan who was biking across Canada – and we had a great evening with them, sharing stories of the road, exquisite food and wonderful company. We fell asleep very quickly, with tired legs, warm hearts, and full bellies.

Friday, April 28, 2017 – Tuesday, May 2, 2017 - Calgary rest days
Kilometres: 50km over 5 days
We had a late start to the day, enjoying sleeping in and having breakfast with Lauren and Penny. Later in the day we went downtown to pick up an order at MEC (wahoo!), and Rebekah met a friend for coffee. The bikeways were surprisingly nice in the city, especially along the river.
It took a few days for us to get organized, picking up more fuel for our camping stove, finding a phone plan for Nathan (Rebekah had put hers on hold while we were away), and catching up on the blog. We deeply enjoyed our time staying with Lauren and her family, and their dog Tidbur. Calgary has a great range of dog parks, and we had fun exploring the city.
Luckily Westjet agreed to replace Rebekah’s rack (we’d checked out the bikes and there was no other damage). They called the day after we arrived, telling us to get a quote for a new rack from a bike shop, and approved it within 40 hours of the damage. Rebekah was excited that one of the local bikes stores – Bike Bike – had a similar model of bike rack as her old one, a rare find! We were impressed by their family-oriented shop with a great selection – tourers take note!
The temperature was very different from Mexico, at one point there was even a few flakes of snow in the air! We made sure we had plenty of warm clothes before heading into the mountains.
Unfortunately, our replacement tent fly from MSR did not arrive on the 1st as we were told to expect. We called their service centre to figure out where it was at, and were told it would arrive in Calgary on the 5th – something that would put us behind schedule. We consulted the weather, contacted warmshowers hosts, and decided to head out on the 3rd, hoping that we wouldn’t get caught in a downpour before we got to Creston.
Overall our stay in Calgary was extremely relaxing and a warm welcome back to Canada! There were many other areas that we’d love to check out on another trip!
