I think it is so funny that every child that has ever expressed interest in Latin Club is, like, so overtly neurodivergent.
#this is like my third year of peddling latin club to eighth graders at the Orientation and Club Expos and like... it is SO disheartening#because people just speed by and pretend you're invisible and such because they aren't interested in Latin Club#but those few precious neurodivergent children who just. will do their various stims and run up and be SO excited that there's a LC#they make it worth it!!!#dante dicit#positive#also it's worth mentioning that last year atl 1/3 of my entire class was diagnosed with adhd lol#might delete

Uh hi!! I have never requested for LC so if it's.weirs sounding. Sorry.
Anyways Reader teasing the sinners? (Hc or smth. Whatever works best for you! :D)
No worries! Oh, if you’ve only seen the stuff my irl group left in my inbox /lh /nm /aff this isn’t weird at all! I try to work with hcs when I can, but not specifying that is on me, so until I get around to editing my bio, I suppose I do drabbles n stuff too. Or try haha
UNEDITED
Ryoshu lets out a ‘hmpf’ sound in a what that you can’t really tell if she’s annoyed or amused. She’s considered pretty intimidating by most so it is a bit funny to her to see you acting so bold. Especially when others look at you with disbelief. A few times you could swear the corners of her lips moved upwards. After all, she does enjoy a good quip or any other display of sharp wit. Which then leads to her teasing you right back, though her timing is always unexpected. It’s almost like a little game you two play, seeing where you can push the other one (within reason). And if asked, Ryoshu will shamelessly admit that she enjoys that part of your shared routine
With Rodya it’s a bit hit or miss. It really depends on what you say and it’s hard to read what will get a pass. I mean, to someone who doesn’t pay much mind to her, everything gets a pass. But there are times where you unknowingly will hit a sore spot and her joking demeanour will become a lot more rehearsed. Her main way of avoiding her self conscious thoughts is by making little jabs at others, so don’t be surprised if her ‘silly payback’ stings a bit. Sometimes it’s fine. But it’s not easy to tell if your teasing will make her blush or if it will ruin her day. Her ego, despite the front she puts up, is incredibly fragile and even when you’re innocently teasing her, she might assume you’re looking down on her. Even if she won’t outright say it, you will feel her discomfort shortly after
It’s only a little less unlikely for Don to misconstrue your words. Her love language is very earnest and genuine, so sometimes she just doesn’t get the purpose of your teasing. However, she’s less likely to assume anything bad by it and mostly it gets the desired reaction out of her. Doesn’t really tease you back though, it’s just not her style of affection, I think
You’d think Hong Lu falls somewhere in the similar category but he’s way more witty than he gets credit for and he goes along with your teasing. He sees it as the playful banter it is and when you least expect it he’ll innocently say something to get you just as worked up as you wanted to make him. Always a bit of a (pleasant) “jumpscare” when he does that. Hard to out-tease the lad, but it’s always a good time for both parties when you try :3
Ishmael gives you the most typical reaction. She’s way more used to being the one that does the teasing so when you start with your sillies, she tries to “fight back”. No luck though, you usually get her to flush and there’s no doubt your words affect her. She huffs something out for you to shut up but she’s not very convincing whenever she does so
But if you think Ish reacts strongly, you need to look at Heathcliff. Most times he’ll get absolutely awkward about it. Sure, sometimes he’s a bit oblivious. A bit like when he got offended that Dante thought he frequented clubs. When he was informed that it was a positive kind of comment, he got all awkward and didn’t really know what to do with himself, since that was not the kind of comment he expected to be directed at him. So if you want him worked up and temporarily not-functional, I absolutely recommend teasing the bloke
On a surface level, Faust is not only not affected but not very receptive to your teasing. She responds very matter-of-factly and with the same seriousness in her vacant eyes as if she was announcing the end of your work day. But don’t be fooled. There are occasions where she’ll pull an uno reverse card on you. Responding calmly she’ll inquire about the meaning behind your playful comment until you verbally run into a corner to the point where you’re admitting to the affectionate undertones of your teasing. You don’t even know how she does it. One second you’re being all silly and flirty and the next you’re all surrendered telling her how you like her, getting flustered by her painfully practical approach
The main difference with Outis is that she might genuinely not get it. Her guard’s always up and she’s been restless for so long, without a safe place to call her own, that playful banter almost seems like a luxury she can’t afford. She’s still in the mindset of surviving day to day (I mean… her job doesn’t exactly make it easy to let go of that notion) and you’re so casual with her. It makes her feel like a version of herself she had to bury a long time ago. But because of that contrast, she sometimes needs time to catch your teasing tone. She never assumes you mean anything bad by your comments, she likes you enough to grant you her patience and understanding way more than the others, but it takes up to 3 tries for her to catch the intent of your words. She’s not very good at reading back, but if you want to try flustering her, this is a good start
Then we have Meursault. He just really doesn’t get it. Each comment you make gets a painfully serious response out of him and you can’t really tell if he’s messing with you or if he really doesn’t get it. Knowing him, it might be the latter. Though if your teasing is more of the physical kind, you might affect him a bit. On the inside though, sorry, but he won’t let that kind of feeling you give him affect his “professional approach”
And we’re back to characters you would make an absolute mess out of. This time, the title goes to Dante. They are so used to being a tool and not having people pay much close attention to them (other than examining their changed body) that your teasing takes them by surprise. Add to that the fact that they can be rather awkward at times and you get the picture of your manager being delightfully graceless in their attempts to give any proper reaction or response. A few times your coworkers joked that you broke them. That did not help to make Dante more coherent
Before opening himself up, Yi Sang would be rather defeatist, not engaging much in your silliness. But that changes after he gets some time to grow and heal when the bus leads him to revisit his past. It’s much more easy to get a blush or a faint smile out of him and he might even surprise you with some (quite wordy) responses of his own
The only word to describe Gregor’s reaction is ‘exasperated’. He’s not like, outright mad or anything. Yeah, I mean, you do kind of have to watch not to hit a painful spot, but it’s easier to avoid with him (just no bug stuff and you’re pretty much in the clear) plus, as awful as I feel for saying this, he’s way too defeatist to counter most painful comments too. His main thing though is that he can’t believe how bold and blatant you are. Especially teasing him in this way. Him, out of everyone in the bus. I mean, he can’t call himself a catch and the way he sees it, there are much more attractive, put together and younger people you could be going after. Publically at that. Besides, some things you say are just way bolder than anything he could even say when drunk (or so he tells himself, tipsy Gregor is not as subtle as sober Greg would like to believe). If you knew him less, you could think that the way he sighs and shakes his head is a sign of total rejection, but that’s not the case. To be fair, if he tried to respond properly he would probably be more awkward. Romance is foreign to him and it stresses him out that he can’t really guess what people say in situations like this. The way you know you did good is when he completely goes blank. Honestly, he looks a bit staggered. The one time he did try to make a sound, he sounded like that too-
Lastly, Sinclair is a tough one. Because I don’t think it’s just so cut and dry that I can just say he gets cute and blushy. He’s… eager at heart (he wants to have someone, so having you show interest is definitely big for him) but so inexperienced and anxious, it doesn’t help his case. But he’s also one of the sinners that is used to being seen less-than and his insecurity makes him fear that your teasing might have different implications. He’s been called useless and naive, amongst other things, so many times. And he doesn’t want to be seen as some weak willed pushover. Especially not by you. You don’t think that, do you? He prays you don’t. His work is tough on him as is, it would be a lie to say you aren’t a beacon of light amongst his gore and guilt filled world. You’ve seen how easy it was to get him down when his coworkers made comments about his appearance. So it’s 50/50 with him. He might try to object. Sometimes he might actually come off too strongly. Other times he just fumbles with his words. And sometimes, when he is sure that your comment is definitely a good natured one, he just fumbles in general. Honestly, this is a half joke but I can almost see him blurt out ‘I want you’ in response like one time and then scurry off terrified wishing to never be resurrected again

went over the cutscenes one more time. thus, i present to you a collection of things we learned this intervallo (SPOILERS!! under the cut)
if you have anything else to add, pls share
city lore:
w corp has been having Issues for some time, might go under
check-ups in the city are the worst shit ever
p corp's singularity is Expansive Space Warping technology; different from other space warping stuff due to how they're aiming to make the "safest place in the world" where, no matter what happens outside, inside is unaffected (sounds familiar?)
bloodfiends propagate to share the thirst instead of one individual bearing all of it
L corp prioritized hiring people with trauma (predictable)
limbus company org lore:
lc department list so far: lca (?), lcb (bus), lccb (clearance before), lcca (clearance after), lcd (distortion), lce (extraction enkephalin! thanks for the correction)
lce stores and researches abnos, distortions, peccatula, and related stuff
lce lifted a lot of stuff (including abno risk designations, for example) from L corp
lce doesn't have qliphoth deterrence so they have to beat the shit out of abnos manually every time
abno/distortion/peccatula and related stuff lore:
peccatula are entities that failed to distort
there might be more peccatula stages beyond stage 3
the golden bough brings some other entities down a notch (like the whale and, while not mentioned there, manchaland's don quixote)
distortions eventually turn into abnormalities, which removes all individuality and renders un-distorting impossible
time ripper is classified as HE-7-PI-20-01 (HE - risk level, PI - pigritia (sloth) affinity; it's stated that 6 is the expected damage to occur, but it's mentioned nowhere in the classification, so it might be a typo from 7)
distorted hohenheim is classified as HE-5-SU (5 expected damage, SU - superbia (pride))
monoliths are scattered through the city like the boughs, and can force a distortion
hohenheim's (wrong) hypothesis: holding a firm belief in the self is enough to remain a distortion
lcb-specific lore:
reviving sinners still leaves them with stress and fatigue, so it can't be used to solve every heath issue under the sun
everyone grew weaker after making the contract with dante; they were basically brought down to the level of sinclair, with the exception of some individual quirks
sinclair was a teacher's pet
rocinante made the call to reawaken sancho back during murder on the warp express
dante doesn't just resonate with sinners by seeing their memories; they can also be influenced by something strongly influencing one of the sinners
when taking rocinante off, don quixote feels the thirst of every bloodfiend of her family and hears their voices
don quixote states she "was made to ascend to [her] father's seat"
yi sang is the weakest sinner, don quixote is the strongest; greggy didn't even get on the list (has a certain potential and is an exception)
lcb would currently be classed between urban plague and urban nightmare, with the potential to eventually become a sotc
wild speculation fodder:
gregor is not feeling so good; fails to elaborate on that. his arm has been quiet ever since the contract, tho?
outis seems a bit jumpy on the topic of war between wings (possible lead towards the "smoke war veteran" theory?)
sinclair and hong lu are associated with wrath
gregor, faust, meursault are associated with sloth
outis, rodion, heathcliff are associated with gluttony and gloom
ishmael and ryoshu are associated with pride and lust
yi sang and don quixote are associated with envy
"because the realization of meaninglessness extinguishes the reason for the spark to start a fire" WHAT DID YOU MEAN HONG LU
RODION FEELS LIKE SHE'S FLOUNDERING IN SOME DITCH.... BABYGIRL......
"the flow" is that the manager will be preserved?..

I don't want to interrupt, but your speculation of Hong Lu running away and his family looking for him made me think that, if true, then how important and resourceful Limbus Company is? We have seen several times the almost boundless wealth his family has and the connections that might extend to even one of the big three. To confidently employ a wanted individual when an enormous family is the one looking, you need to have some serious plan to prevent it.
Do you know how one canto opens to another? Just like Canto 3 demonstrated the evil of the nest and in Canto 3.5 and 4, how it affects individuals. And now, if I recall correctly, the golden boughs are being used to tone down the abnormalities at Limbus Company to be manageable for their suppression. What if Hong Lu is actually an abnormality, and binding himself to Dante leveled him enough to not be perceived by his family and anyone they might send after him?
My apologies if you have already discussed this! Have a good day/night! :D
I'm just. Going to ignore the Hong Lu is an abnormality thing because I feel like you're going a little too fast and ending up on some Piles of Asriel's Dust type stuff.
Let's take a step back and think. Because that is a good question!
Here's a pop quiz.
Why is Hong Lu using a fake name?
Sure, there's a part to it that is likely just him trying to ignore his past and live a new life as a fake made up identity. But you know. A fake identity can also help him slip under the radar.
After all. Can we really be sure the higher ups at Limbus Company even recieved truthful information about him?
He is a liar after all. He could have just. Given fake information to the Company, and the only person who would even know would be Faust, the one who is explicitly not allowed to share information about the Sinners.
We might have even been shown a hint towards something like that potentially being the case. Remember this moment from Canto 3?
I don't think this exchange was just to have Hong Lu share an anecdote (it's never Just about that with him after all). I believe what is happening here is that, upon hearing about Limbus Company having backing from many shareholders, Hong Lu is trying to ascertain if the Company has any direct ties to people who would actually recognize him and have a reason to tell on him.
His Family knows H Corp shareholders. Those shareholders would likely really want to be in that Family's good graces and thus would have a reason to sell Hong Lu's location out immediately. So if the higher-ups at the Company he works at are recieving backing from those same shareholders, that would spell some deep fucking trouble for him.
But the fact that he's asking about that in the first place reveals another piece of the puzzle - Hong Lu is sure the Company wouldn't have any direct connection to his Family, only possible connections through secondhand means outside of his control. Something he could only be sure of if the info he gave to the higher ups didn't contain any information that could directly tie him back to the Jias.
After all, you can't really tell on someone who you don't even know is within your ranks, can you?
Plus, who knows. Perhaps the setup for Canto 8 will be that the Company ends up connecting the dots, or his Family finally ends up catching wind of him, and either way LC will be forced to Surrender Hong Lu back to the Jias.

On Keter in LC-LoR-LC
I was just reminded of something I'd put in a previous post about the concept of Keter being the Crown of the Tree of Life - that is, the culmination of all of the other Sephirot.
In Lobotomy Corporation, Keter is the last Department to be opened (not counting Da'at, which doesn't have agents employed there, no Abnormalities, and no associated Sephirah, since I don't count Carmen for that).
In Library of Ruina, Keter is technically the first to be opened - but it's the last to be activated. All of the other floors have Realisations in the same order that they're opened in, other than Keter.
Limbus Company seems to be going the same route. Currently, Dante has Hokma and Binah, and if we're looking at the Sapling of Light abilities as activating in the same order as the floors of the Library, then we've not doubt got Chesed activating in Canto 8 part 3. What Dante doesn't have is Keter - which makes sense considering the previous two entries in the series.
Keter is "The Knowing I" after all. It is associated with the divine name which means "I Am What I Am" and "represents pure consciousness and transcends human understanding." It also "embodies the qualities of absolute compassion and humility." With those things in mind (sourced from the wiki page), we know that Keter is all about knowing who you are, and being compassionate toward others.
With that in mind it makes complete sense why Ayin couldn't achieve Keter without first defeating his three evil other selves- reflections in the mirror. It makes sense that Angela couldn't achieve Keter without first facing her past, and also Carmen.
It makes sense that Dante will only be able to achieve Keter once they know who they are.
Which leads me to the original point:
Another of the meanings behind "Keter" as a concept reads as follows-
"Keter is also known as "Nothing" (אַיִן, ayin) or "The Hidden Light" (אוֹר הַגָּנוּז, Or HaGanuz), reflecting its abstract and ineffable nature."
In a previous post, I joked on that saying "Hello there, Dante's old name" but honestly, what just occurred to me is that Ayin is present (more or less) in the Keter of both Lobotomy Corporation in that he literally is the Keter Sephirah; we even have to play his Core Suppressions, and Library of Ruina, since Angela hears his voice in the Light.
Which says to me - hidden within the Keter, there is always "Ayin." As the wiki page says, Keter is also known as Nothing, otherwise known as Ayin, or the Hidden Light.
This says to me that no matter what, Ayin IS going to make some sort of appearance the moment that Dante gets to unlock their Keter. Whether that's going to take the form of a conversation, an appearance, or, even, Dante quite simply remembering who they are, and what their other/true name is - which would be highly fitting considering that the "Ayin" would be a "hidden thing" that is then "brought to light," no?

Theory about Mephistopheles and the Chinese Identity of our American Girl
It seems my pleas for someone to steal my computer have fallen in deaf ears… At any rate, before starting this short, schizo theory, I have to clarify the following line
It’s not “an observer, and a wishmaker.” There’s no connector or word that implies the observer and wishmaker are different people. They are used in tandem, with no in-between at all.
The observer IS the wishmaker, in other words.
This clarification is important because before it, Carmen seemed genuinely surprised at how censored and blurry Jia Ishmael’s story became (“Oh.”, “[…] I suppose”). That means that she wasn’t the one who did it, and it doesn’t make sense for the observer-wishmaker to do it either. Thus, none of the parties we know of caused that phenomenon.
Now, the question is: what caused it? We know thanks to Yi Sang and Canto VI’s mess that the Mirror reflects the possibilities the individual holds at some level, with the worlds of Abnormalities—living symbols of the unconscious mind—described as “cracks in the mirrored world” and “incredibly narrow and unstable chasms.” Basically, and if we take Binah’s words in LC at face value, Abnormalities and the mind are more fundamental than Mirror worlds, acting as their foundations. Needless to say, this has several implications that I won’t get into, but the core of what I’m saying is that the Mirror Worlds are the possibilities of the mind and are only limited by it (as many players have guessed by now).
So the censored and blurred parts now make sense: they were carefully curated because they blatantly contradict what the observer-wishmaker assumes/thinks what defines Ishmael. If those parts hadn’t been hidden, then the contradictions would have made the observer-wishmaker think that Mirror World can’t possibly exist, making its observation an impossibility and thus denying their wish. Naturally, this also has its own implications that I won’t explain, as the only important thing about it is that we have 2 possible explanations now: either the mind of the observer-wishmaker ignored those parts, which is not very likely due to self-evident reasons, or someone modified what the Mirror showed.
We know from Dante’s Notes, that Identities are found via Mephistopheles’ engine (which, according to Faust, is also called Mephistopheles…), meaning that no one can really mess with what is extracted at all. Obviously, maybe Faust put a strange mechanism that allowed some unknown people to control what the extracted elements show, right? But then, the doubt about how those people know what Dante, as the observer-wishmaker, considers possible emerges.
So now we go into the schizo part…
Dante has a Golden Bough in their head, which is the thing that connects them to the Sinners (Morositas pretty much confirmed it) and the “sapling” in Limbus’ headquarters. We also know that Golden Boughs have curious interactions with Mirror Worlds as per Canto VI, and they have a similar color to Mephistopheles’ engine…
Basically, Mephistopheles was the one who censored the information in Jia Ishamel’s story, likely due to the connection it has with the Golden Boughs in general (hinted during A Notable Change) and thus with Dante. This obviously presupposes that Mephi is alive at some level, which is somewhat supported by the game, from Charon to the Indigo Elder and Cassetti. Even Dante noted it somehow “evolves” with the Sinners in their notes.
For that matter, this has a literary foundation as well! Mephistopheles fulfilled every wish of Faust in all the variants of the story, and LCB Faust enjoyed stargazing in the past according to her evening greeting—and what kind of existence grants wishes in the universe? Furthermore, A Midspring Night’s Dream 2 seems to support this idea as well, with Charon specifically saying “Mephi, twinkle-twinkle like stars” at the end, after Dante woke up from their “fever dream,” which, as we know from the first April’s Fools event, is likely a glimpse into a Mirror World.
(Besides, how to forget the fact that the last skill of “Vergilius” is Mephistopheles running over the Sinners, and I genuinely doubt the actual Vergilius knows how to drive the Bus or would entertain doing so in those circumstances.)
Now, this also leads us to some interesting implications again: if Mephistopheles is a “star,” wouldn’t that make it a fallen one? Representation Emitter shows how Faust (or at least a Faust-adjacent person) discovered the engine somewhere underground. Consequently, does that mean the Stars are angels or similar creatures? Moreover, what does it imply for Dante’s true identity? In all versions, Mephistopheles is subservient to Faust only and no one else…
#limbus company#limbus company spoilers#technically nothing concrete#but I make references to small segments of some Cantos#And the ID I'm speaking is from Canto VIII
