day 2: learning to fly || to fly or to fall

originally had a Drabble I wrote…which was then lost in the processing vortex. Oops. Reconstructed it as well as I could, and added the doodles :D

Of course she worried every time he’d tested that suit - wasn’t dragonback close enough to flying? - but she’d quickly learnt that this particular matter wasn’t one she could persuade him to stop on.

“Really, I think even Toothless thinks it not a good idea idea.” She said, helping him up after another crash. Stormfly scrabbled at the ground with her claws, squawking worriedly.

“It’ll work better once I fix the rudder.” He insisted, dusting himself off and rising on still-shaky feet.

“That’s what you always say.” She argued good-naturedly, and hooked his arm. “Now, we’re going to see someone to make sure you’re not hurt.”

“But, really, I’m fine!”

She gave him an unimpressed stare. “What do you think, Toothless?”

The dragon warbled, before clearly agreeing with her and nudging his rider into the direction of Gothi’s hut.

“Oh, all right you two.“ he tried to feign insult, but they all knew he was thankful that they cared.

„You’re absolutely ridiculous at times, you know that?“ she said.

He just smiled in response.

Learning to Fly: Winds of Change Chapter Six

The only conclusion Jingyi could come to was absurd. Absolutely ludicrous! If believing the prince could hide a platypus bear in his room made her a ditz, what did it make her to believe Zuko’s silence meant he found living dual-element animals and was trying to protect them? It was so ridiculous, but, honestly. One of the creatures that professor told him about had lived in the Si Wong desert . Where had Zuko gone, and then never mentioned the animals again after coming back? Exactly!

Zuko's not as sneaky as he thinks he is...

have you ever come up with a reason (or told us if you have) for the illnesses of the northern water tribe? it was so mysterious and didn't seem to have a clear answer of what it was or what caused it, only that la and tui cured it.

Yes there is a reason!! :D reminder of what we DO know:

Illness started sometime during the war

Illness only ever afflicted one child a year born after winter solstice.

They were born with a darkness in their eyes and silent. Yue doesn't go into detail here so I'll add on rn saying the babies were born breathing, but barely. Within a few hours they would stop breathing... Hmm and extra info again, the darkness would leave after the baby died...

Despite best attempts, there would always be at least one child born in the afflicted weeks

La dispelled the darkness. Tui gave Yue life
