Running Man thoughts

This post is full of rants (and maybe raves too haha). I love Running Man but I just wanted to share my frustration when there was a major change in the cast, game formats and lesser name tag ripping. (So why still wear them?)

I've always been entertained when I'm watching Running Man. The 7 characters give the show life and laughter, them quipping their adlibs, their reactions and their casual betrayals. I even learned to like and fangirl some of the staff. But after Gary left, I think there was a major overhaul of the show. Much to my chagrin, the change of PDs, talks of cast replacement (and actually replacing Gary's absence with So Min and Se Chan), and even the game formats all added to make me annoyed and stop watching the show altogether.

First, the only RM characters I ever considered are the long time mainstays: Jae Suk, Kwang Soo, Suk Jin, Haha, Jong Kook, Ji Hyo and Gary. Hence 7012. Then after Gary left, there was a huge void left that needs to be replaced. The only two other people for me qualified to fill those spots are Song Joong Ki and Lizzy. They were there during the early stages of the show. Or even the family member Yong Hwa. I just could not accept So Min and Se Chan conveniently filling in RM membership without proving themselves worthy. And one other thing I cannot accept is that the production did so little for the cast and the longtime supporters to get to know the newbies. The PD went ahead and even made them missions abroad in separate groups! I absolutely hated it. In the past, the RM Family did things and experienced things together. I did not see rapport building between the members right away.

I hated the game formats because the PD made sure to make the members suffer. They know most of the members are scaredy cats and yet the punishments are always about heights. Shuck it, those shanks! And they always travel abroad, once again separately. You cannot force rapport to happen when you do that. Also, they stretch one opening into a whole effin episode. Wth?! And the episodes are inconsistent, they do 2 openings in one episode with no end in sight.

Lately, I have been watching again and it seems they reverted back to the old format where at the end of the episode we know who the winners are. Also, I do appreciate So Min and Se Chan. But not as much as I do the original 6. I wanted to see the newbies get the upperhand at least on name tag ripping, the mudflats and pool experiences. Oh, and attend events like the football thing and cooking fests. Those were great.

No one knows who Big Mouse is… The viewers are suspecting every character (#BigMouth)

“We can’t trust the main character”. Who will be the real Big Mouse?

The focus of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “Big Mouth” (scripted by Kim Ha-ram/ directed by Oh Chung-hwan and Bae Hyun-jin) is currently on finding the real Big Mouse, a genius conman.

All the characters in the drama are suspicious, from Jerry (Kwak Dong-yeon), who follows and helps Park Chang-ho (Lee Jong-seok) the most in the prison, to Park Yoon-gap (Jung Jae-sung), the prison director and the most powerful person in Gucheon Prison, and even Noh Park (Yang Hyung-wook), who is favored by the prison director.

Park Chang-ho, the main character who is falsely accused and involved in a battle of blood, sweat and tears, is no exception. Even Chang-ho’s wife Ko Mi-ho (Lim Yoon-ah), Ko Mi-ho’s father Ko Gi-kwang (Lee Ki-young), and Chang-ho’s best friend – lawyer Kim Soon-tae (Oh Eui-shik) are suspected by the viewers.

Meanwhile, in episodes 9 and 10 of “Big Mouth”, which aired on August 26th and 27th, the prison director was revealed to be a subordinate of Big Mouse. Jerry, who used to be the most suspicious figure, seems to have been free from suspicions after getting seriously injured in a mysterious accident while trying to save Park Chang-ho. However, as Jerry was seen checking and tearing Chang-ho’s note when he returned, the viewers raised doubts again

The secret of Mayor Choi Do-ha (Kim Joo-heon), who was thought to be helping Chang-ho, was also revealed. Choi Do-ha, who made Chang-ho be involved in the murder case, was an accomplice in the murder case of Professor Seo Jae-yong (Park Hoon). In addition, he also shocked the old man (Jeon Kuk-hwan) by revealing his spiteful past story.

Many people are reasoning to find Big Mouse by looking for hidden clues together with the main character Park Chang-ho. The fact that Park Chang-ho is also 100% unreliable increases the viewers’ immersion in “Big Mouth”.

There are still many stories to unravel regarding why Big Mouse is so obsessed with Seo Jae-yong’s thesis and the connections between Gucheon Prison and Gucheon Hospital.

The mystery game called “Big Mouth” is expected to continue with many plot twists.

hello anon, this isn’t necessarily my area of expertise but i’ll do my best for you!

of the old masters of japanese cinema, i’m most partial to kenji mizoguchi and yasujirō ozu, unsurprisingly. (i’ve never been taken much by samurai or yakuza films, so you’ll see all i’m about to say reflects that…) the new wave films by koreyoshi kurahara, kon ichikawa, and certainly kaneto shindo are must-sees; i also like the careful hand of shūji terayama, who applies his more fantastical and surreal ideas with great nuance. as for more contemporary filmmakers, hirokazu kore-eda is near the top of the list, especially in terms of relevancy, takeshi kitano’s autobiographical trilogy is really impressive, zhang yimou’s drama films from the 1990s–2000s (e.g. rise of the red lantern, to live, not one less, riding alone for thousands of miles), jun ichikawa, kenzō masaoka, isao takahata, satoshi kon, and, of course, bae hayao miyazaki — but does that even need saying? i’d also like to see more from yoshishige yoshida, nobuhiro yamashita, shunji iwai, yuki tanada, and toshiaski toyoda (i really enjoyed his film hanging garden but i’m not sure he ever made another domestic drama); i loved makoto shinkai’s children who chase lost voices from deep below but i haven’t really liked anything before or since…

korean cinema can be tough for me because i don’t much favour gangster films, monster movies, (psychological) horror — but they do make some fucking good films so we can get into that, even if briefly. i’d start with han hyung-mo, certainly jung jin-woo, and im kwon-taek (i’ve only seen his more recent films but he’s been directing since the 60s), and yu hyun-mok’s 60s films (e.g. an empty dream and guests who arrived on the last train). i’m not crazy about shin sang-ok but his life was fucking insane so it’s worth learning about, and i’m equally non-plussed over kim ki-duk as he mostly makes crime dramas but i would be amiss not to demand you see spring, summer, fall, winter… and spring (i also enjoyed, for what it’s worth, the vision behind pietà). i’ve liked some of the 90s films of park chul-soo (oseam and 301, 302) and i would certainly watch more. the early films of kwak jae-yong, lee chang-dong has made some really affecting tragedies (burning is meh but go back to peppermint candy, secret sunshine, a brand new life, poetry), ryu jang-ha, lee kwang-kuk, and i’d like to see more by jeong jae-eun (take care of my cat is fantastic). despite thinking he’s a little ~too~ prolific, i’m also a huge sucker for hong sang-soo #onbrand

A Guide to the 12 Overwatch League Teams

The Overwatch League is gearing up to change the face of esports, bringing in multi-million dollar franchises and official teams. But the ongoing changes might make things a little tough to keep up with, so Shacknews is going to attempt to neatly organize each individual franchise, their ownership, and the roster that they'll be bringing out for the Overwatch League.
