I've found an error in a research paper I'm using as a reference for an assignment. now i get to do the funniest thing of emailing the poor scientist who wrote it something like this:

"Hello dearest esteemed dr. professor whatshisface from esteemed super smarty pants university PHD in brain who has been studying super niche subject that the paper is on for 10+ years and has written, co-written and researched for 20+ papers in that time; it is I, first year undergraduate student from university in bumfuck nowhere that you have never heard of. i have discovered a typo leading to significant error when interpreting your findings. please fix this, bye."
