For backstories:

Grian, as a recognized master builder, has a team of people who work with him when he’s making larger off server projects. These are people who are typically going to school to become master builders, who then graduate and do their own thing, kind of like a mentorship program.

Pearl is one of these people! Her and Gem were both in a master builder program, but while Gem was placed with someone who specializes in organics, Pearl was placed with Grian. While working together, their styles meshed so well that when she did graduate, he invited her to come to Evo to help him beautify the server there. After that ended, she split off to go work with Gem some more and to bring her work to places like Artisan and Legacy SMP. She still did some work for Grian, including judging some competitions he put on, where she met Mumbo, but mostly she did her own thing.

Her first entrance to Hermitcraft was actually a season before she officially joined. Hermitcraft is known to be a kind of prestigious server, master builders would kill to be invited. Grian can’t have his usual team of helpers on the server due to X wanting to keep everything safe, but he was allowed one person to help with a mega build. He, of course, chose Pearl!

The intent was that she would just come in, help him with his build, then leave back to what was her home SMP at the time, Legacy. But X, Impulse, and Joe wanted to meet her first, just for screening purposes. They were impressed by her skills and found her to be shy and kind (little did they know the kind of chaos she would unleash once she was comfortable with them). She helped Grian out with his build and hopped off the server, and truly thought that would be her last brush with Hermitcraft.

That was until Grian gave her a call one day and told her that he and Mumbo had put her name up to become a resident of the server next season. Pearl, of course, was overjoyed. Even more so when she found out that Gem would be coming with her as she had been voted in as well. It was everything the two of them had dreamed about when they were going to master builder training!

Development Update - December 2024

Happy New Year, everyone! We're so excited to be able to start off 2025 with our biggest news yet: we have a planned closed beta launch window of Q1 2026 for Mythaura!

2024 Year in Review

Creative

This year, the creative team worked on adding new features, introducing imaginative designs, and refining lore/worldbuilding to enrich the overall experience.

New Beasts and Expressions: All 9 beast expression bases completed for both young and adult with finalized specials for Dragons, Unicorns, Griffins, Hippogriffs, and Ryu.

Mutations, Supers and Specials: Introduced the Celestial mutation as well as new Specials Banding & Merle, and the Super Prismatic.

New Artist: Welcomed Sourdeer to the creative team.

Collaboration and Sponsorship: Sponsored several new companions from our Ko-Fi sponsors—Amaru, Inkminks, Somnowl, Torchlight Python, Belligerent Capygora, and the Fruit-Footeded Gecko.

New Colors: Revealed two eye-catching colors, Canyon (a contest winner) and Porphyry (a surprise bonus), giving players even more variety for their Beasts.

Classes and Gear: Unveiled distinct classes, each with its own themed equipment and companions, to provide deeper roleplay and strategic depth.

Items and Worldbuilding: Created a range of new items—from soulshift coins to potions, rations, and over a dozen fishable species—enriching Mythaura’s economy and interactions.

Star Signs & Astrology: Continued to elaborate on the zodiac-like system, connecting each Beast’s fate to celestial alignments.

Questing & Story Outline: Laid the groundwork for the intro quest pipeline and overarching narrative, ensuring that players’ journey unfolds with purposeful progression.

Code

This year, the development team worked diligently on refining and expanding the codebase to support new features, enhance performance, and improve gameplay experiences. A total 429,000 lines of code changed across both the backend and frontend, reflecting:

New Features: Implementation of systems like skill trees, inventory management, community forums, elite enemies, npc & quest systems, and advanced customization options for Beasts.

Optimizations and Refactoring: Significant cleanup and streamlining of backend systems, such as game state management, passive effects, damage algorithms, and map data structures, ensuring better performance and maintainability.

Map Builder: a tool that allows us to build bespoke maps

Regular updates to ensure compatibility with modern tools and frameworks.

It’s worth noting that line changes alone don’t capture the complexity of programming work. For example:

A single line of efficient code can replace multiple lines of legacy logic.

Optimizing backend systems often involves removing redundant or outdated code without adding new functionality.

Things like added dependencies can add many lines of code without adding much bespoke functionality.

We’re thrilled to share some news about Mythaura’s development! Starting in 2025, Miya will be officially dedicating herself full-time to Mythaura. Her focus will be on bringing even more depth and wonder to the world of Mythaura through content creation, worldbuilding, and building up the brand. It’s a huge step forward, and we’re so excited for the impact her passion and creativity will have on the project!

In addition, I’ve secured 4-day weeks and will be working full-time each Friday to dive deeper into development. This extra push is going to allow us to keep moving steadily forward on both the art and code fronts, and with Miya’s expanded role, the next year of development is looking really promising.

New Super: Zebra

We've added our first new Super to the site since last year's Prismatic: Zebra, which has a chance to occur when parents have the Wildebeest and Banding Specials!

Zebra is now live in our Beast Creator--we're excited to see what you all create with it!

New Expressions: Ryu

The Water-element Ryu has had expressions completed for both the adult and young models. Expressions have been a huge, time-intensive project for the art team to undertake, but the result is always worth it!

Mythauran Astrology: January

The month of January is referred to as Hearth's Embrace, representing the fireplaces kept lit for the entirety of the coldest month of the year. This month is also associated with the constellation of the Glassblower and the carnelian stone.

Mythaura v0.35

Refactored "Beast Parties" into "User Parties," allowing non-beast entities like NPCs to be added to your party. NPCs added to your party will follow you in the overworld, cannot be made your leader, and will make their own decisions in combat.

Checkpoint floor functionality ironed out, allowing pre-built maps to appear at specific floor intervals.

The ability to set spawn and end coordinates in the map builder was added to allow staff to build checkpoint floors.

Various cleanups and refactors to improve performance and reduce the number of queries needed to run certain operations.

Added location events, which power interactable objects in the overworld, such as a lootable chest or a pickable bush.

Sims 4 Skittles Challenge

I tried the Not-so-berry challenge, but I got bored real quick. It kind of ends after the 8th generation so I thought maybe I would extend it or create my own.

For context, I have a very hard time with expanding on my own generations and for the life of me, I couldn't get the 25 generation trophy until I did this.

I call it the Rainbow/Skittles Challenge. I have it listed below if ya'll wanted to check it out. Let me know what you think and definitely reply with some pics of your sims!

Challenge Rules:

Heir Color: Heirs must follow their generation’s color scheme in clothing, home decor, and personality. Non-heirs can vary, but the heir must always embody the generation’s color.

Complete 5 Goals Before Aging Up: You may not age up the heir into the next life stage until all 5 goals have been completed.

Career Restrictions: You may only use each career once throughout the challenge, encouraging variety in gameplay.

House Themes: Each generation’s home should reflect their assigned color as much as possible, from furniture to decor.

By the time you reach Generation 25, your Sims family will have experienced a colorful, varied legacy, spanning countless careers, skills, and personalities. Enjoy creating this dynamic rainbow dynasty!

Generation 1: Red - The Ambitious Leader

Career: Politician or Business

Traits: Ambitious, Hot-Headed, Self-Assured

Goals:

Reach level 10 of the Politician or Business career.

Max the Charisma skill.

Have at least 3 "enemy" relationships.

Have two children, and choose the heir based on personality.

when business was in elementary and middle school he was doing a lot of tutoring and speech/occupational therapy to try to get him "caught up" to his peers. In high school, despite struggling, he seemed to be doing fine and so they stopped, and moved him from special Ed to the general classroom. he continued with tutors into college.

but they also suspected him of being gay starting in about 9th grade, so he entered a new therapy, conversion therapy, that he didn't understand but knew that it would be best to comply and let the therapy change him, which only served to repress his sexuality and make him feel anxious and paranoid.

his forward facing self began to identify as heterosexual but the darker, already repressed parts of him only became hypersexual and obsessed with having secret sexual encounters with boys/men, even going so far as to keep it from himself in a dark dissociative haze

when he was about 25, after his father dies but before his mother does (they died within a year of each other), he began courting the woman that he was arranged to marry and the become engaged, she essentially was his beard. they stayed engaged until he committed suicide before the master builder's could catch him (my Canon's ending, I hate the movies end)

he thinks he loves her, thinks that he likes to sleep with her, but it's all programming

he has been a victim of intense hypnosis, brainwashing, and the forced consumption of obedience drugs from a young age in an attempt to groom him to continue his family's legacy. and it works! he is the first business man to secure a total dictatorship over bricksburg! it would make his father proud

"Legacy of 1930s Elegance: Budapest’s Timeless ‘Dugattyús House’ on Margit körút"

The "Dugattyús House" at 15-17 Margit körút, also known as the "Piston House," is one of Budapest’s most iconic residential buildings, capturing the spirit of 1930s modernist architecture. Designed by Ferenc Domány and Béla Hofstätter, this luxury apartment complex was completed in 1938 for the Weiss Manfréd Corporation’s pension fund, embodying the era’s elegance and forward-thinking design.

The building stands out for its sleek, circular glass elevators, expansive staircases, and remarkable views. Its construction was part of a larger urban renewal program initiated after WWI, aimed at modernizing Budapest’s inner-city areas. A 1934 tax law incentivized building new structures by offering generous tax exemptions for developers who tore down older, single-story homes and replaced them with high-density, multi-story buildings. Margit körút fell into the top tax-exempt zone, meaning that builders could avoid property taxes for 15 years and continue receiving 75% tax reductions even after that period, leading to a wave of modern apartments in the area.

The architectural style of the Dugattyús House is marked by horizontal lines of banded windows and solid parapets, complemented by the building’s round edges and large balconies. The lower floors are clad in travertine, while the upper stories are finished with sandstone, giving the facade a luxurious and cohesive look. Inside, marble-lined lobbies and restored original fixtures reflect the building’s high standards. Original features, such as lighting fixtures and rare wood paneling with a checkerboard pattern in the stairwells, were reconstructed to preserve the authentic aesthetic.

The residence attracted Budapest’s social elite, from aristocrats and high-ranking professionals to industrial magnates. Notable residents included engineers, doctors, and even a retired Minister of the Interior. The building’s few single-room apartments meant that this was no place for solitary individuals—most tenants were families or prominent professionals. It also housed influential figures from the textile and milling industries, which were closely connected to the Weiss family’s business empire.

The "Dugattyús House" remains a powerful example of Budapest’s architectural heritage, showcasing the city’s transition into a modern metropolis. Its blend of innovative design, social history, and luxury living has left an indelible mark on the cityscape.

Figured I’d make references of Casimir with various spin offs, along with adding some updated information on him! I think it’s obvious that he’s my favorite child at this point, he’s so spoiled.

I also made a reference of his helmet and eyes (I only draw his eyes without the hearts when I want to simplify his design a bit cause I’m lazy)

Anyway, information for each spin off will be under the cut! There’s a lot of words, so.. whoopsies,,

Bugs Bunny Builders

DISCLAIMER! I have never seen BBB, so.. I just thought the style was cute and wanted to see if I could get close enough to it. Not sure how the BBB universe works at all.

Casimir is from space, but ended up landing on Earth and loved the place so much that he decided to stay. The crew decided to appoint him as a decorator, choosing colors and other accessories for their projects.

His color blindness does tend to be a setback for him at times, but he still pushes through no matter what.

The Looney Tunes Show

This version of him is NOT that developed. He’s still a WIP.

Casimir is Marvin’s roommate, and works at an animal shelter as a volunteer. He’s also part of a biker gang.

He was placed in the same exchange program as Marvin. Casimir was placed in there by his mother, as she couldn’t handle his hyperactivity and other issues. She believed that it would straighten him up, only for Casimir to not want to go back home afterwards.

He befriended Marvin at one point and the two became friends, and eventually roommates.

Tiny Toons Looniversity

I’ve never seen the original Tiny Toons. Well, I have.. but only one episode since they took it off of Hulu when I started it a few years ago. I’ve only seen TTL in full.

This reference was also rushed.

Casimir is a theatre professor at Acme Looniversity.

He was the professor of a melee weapons class, but moved to less arduous work after developing an interest in acting. He still has his various weapons, though, and uses them as props for different Looniversity plays.

Casimir’s Legacy, as the students call it, revolve around his various techniques of using more cute (but still terribly dangerous) weapons to catch his enemies off guard. He is also known by students as being Marvin’s partner -and probably more- in space exploration.

His war hammer, the Heart Throbber, is his popular and most adored weapon out of any of them. Made out of Neptunian diamond, the weapon is pretty strong, and can do a serious amount of damage.

The war hammer is rumored to be so heavy that Casimir is the only one who’s able to lift and use it, along with other rumors claiming that he and the hammer are cosmically connected in some way. The war hammer itself is displayed in the Looniversity’s auditorium hall.

I was debating on adding the information on him and Marvin for this variation, but decided to do it anyway.

When Casimir and Marvin attended the Looniversity as students, the both of them were practically inseparable. There was never a day when the two weren’t together.

Some of the other professors speculate that the duo were more than just friends, recalling the times where the two would play Tooney Ball as an inseparable pair in their team every single year, or played the lead roles in one of the school plays together.

Casimir and Marvin don’t get along as well as they used to, only because they don’t hang out as much as before. Their difference in careers and personalities has caused a strain in their former dynamic as well.

However, they do still care for each other, which is pretty evident whenever a situation requires for them to team up and support the Looniversity’s students. They do tend to become visibly embarrassed about it afterwards, or whenever it’s pointed out by anybody, and always try to brush it off as nothing.

Two to Tango Challenge

Two to Tango is a Sims 4 legacy challenge for occult types. In this challenge your sims will be from different occult types, in pairs like merfolk and vampire, or werewolf and alien. The goal for this challenge is simple. Each generation the heir, or main sim, will be with an occult that is not their own. The first pairing is up to your own choosing as long as they are different from one another, but each generation will have different rules and things to complete. As humans count as occult types, there should be 15 different pairings when having all occult types in your game.

Rules & Recommendations -

This challenge will have 10 generations.

Only opposites can be married, no same occult marriages.

If you pair a human and another occult together and your heir is human, you can have the heir become another occult through whatever transformation they have to go through. They cannot be married to a human before the occult change, from human to (insert other occult), as that would go against the rules of the challenge. 

You cannot have duplicate generations, I.E. gen 1 is Vampire & Merfolk, gen 2 cannot be the same as gen 1. You shouldn’t duplicate a pairing unless you are doing the challenge twice or you don’t have all occult types.

Normal life span

Complete Career, aspiration, and skills that are given per generation

If the occult has an occult class, that needs to be completed as well

Each generation both parents will have a required career and aspiration. The choice of who gets what is up to the player

Traits and skills go to the heir of each generation

You can make your own story as you play

1. What’s your favourite sims death? I normally just let my sims die of old age, but I definitely have some favorites. My favorite from TS4 is being Consuming by the Mother. And my favorite from TS3 is jellybean plant - mostly because I love the color of the jellybean ghost, haha!

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis Mix! I will use an Alpha hair if the edit I'm doing works better with that, but otherwise I only use MM hair, and a mix of Alpha and MM clothes.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? No. I like to make them lose weight naturally if I want them to, if not? They're gonna just be like me.

4. Do you use move objects? I have a mod that makes it so move objects is always on, so yeah.

5. Favorite mod? Oh gosh... I have a lot of mods I can't live without, but for modern gameplay I gotta say the LGBTQIA+ mod by Lumpinou has changed my life. I don't have to choose my sims' orientations and genders anymore! Finally!

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? For TS4, the first pack I got was Get to Work.

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE, but that's because I think of it like "we're going live," like for TV and such.

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I don't know if she's my absolute favorite, but one of my favorites is Ikari Karma, the founder I made for a RainbowSin legacy that I still haven't gotten around to:

9. Have you made a simself? Yes actually! She's the founder of my current NSB, though her traits are completely different from what my real ones are.

10. What sim traits do you give yourself? Geek, Loner, Cat Lover, usually.

11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? Platinum blonde!

12. Favorite EA hair? The movie hangout stuff hair that's a side part and shoulder length. I put that on all my sims back when I was CC lite.

13. Favorite life stage?  Young adult probably - you can do the most things while still being young enough to have a lot of time left. Plus, this is the time when you can move spares out of the house, haha.

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Definitely in it for the gameplay. Occasionally, I LOVE building, but I have to be in the right mindset for it.

15. Are you a CC creator? Sometimes! More mods than CC, though. I can't mesh to save my life, but I can make poses, CAS backgrounds, loading screens, and the occasional small mod.

16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? Mmm yeah I'd say so! Maybe not a sim squad, but definitely some simblr friends.

17. What’s your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4)  I have the most fond memories of 3. If my computer was better, you'd have to suffer through a TS3 legacy from me too. 😌

18. Do you have any sims merch? I don't actually!

19. Do you have a YouTube for sims? I do, but I don't post regularly. I want to, but every time I start to get more regular, things come up.

20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing?  Oh for sure. My first TS4 sims are not very good looking, and now I like them quite a lot. Can't say they're unique because I have same face syndrome, but I like them and that's enough for me.

22. Who’s your favorite CC creator?  Ahh... that's so hard. For hair it's daylifesims, and for clothes it's Sifix.

23. How long have you had a simblr? Since early 2020 I think. I mean, I started posting sims stuff occasionally back in 2015, but I wouldn't consider myself a simblr until I started posting regularly.

24. How do you edit your pictures? Reshade + MS Paint or iPiccy. I'm not clever or rich enough for fancy programs.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? I think I want the Cool Kitchen Stuff next, because... ice cream.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Oh goodness. Probably Realm of Magic, because I use Spellcasters a LOT.
