We had our team Christmas party/goodbye Ruth do today. and I need to show you what my friend at work made me for a leaving present because even for him it's a work of mad genius, I was just sitting there like WHAT. WHAT IS HAPPENING.

so you know, I get leaving gifts from my team, it's lovely, notebooks, pens, gift card, fond farewells, it's lovely, people say nice things about me

then my friend Zain says "I also got you something"

Now the thing to know about Zain is his party acumen is legendary. every year we're all resigned from the off to losing at Secret Santa because his gifts are insane. last year he made his secret santa a custom play set of one of our services in a branded box with tiny props. this year he made a custom Ken doll and box representing our colleague and it has a tiny collection bucket and a "collect them all!" sticker on the back where he'd found pictures of Barbies and Kens that looked like the rest of the Fundraising team. we'd just got done with a quiz where he made a custom video package, a Family Feud round with buzzers, and TWO Photoshop picture rounds. once. ONCE. we asked him to facilitate a team meeting and he wrote and animated a theme song. the man is insane. everything he does is so thoughtful, so labour intensive, and also so off the wall weird.

so I'm intrigued. especially since all he's holding is an envelope.

he says "I got you something. It's kind of an experience."

and hands me this letter.

(there's a bunch of good bits in here but I will particularly note that "It's going" has been his perpetual refrain for months every time I ask how it's going, to the point he usually doesn't even bother saying it any more.)

ok. I am confused. what is. THE DEVICE.

he puts THE DEVICE on the table. he hands me 4 cardboard floppy discs.

THE DEVICE is a large cardboard box. You will observe that THE DEVICE has an LED on the front. You may also observe that THE DEVICE has both a button. and a set of speaker holes.

this is because upon pushing the button on THE DEVICE, it makes a jaunty startup noise and an AI voice launches into a full minute setup speech before instructing me to load the included floppy discs into THE DEVICE. during the period of silence as I feed them into the slot, THE DEVICE says things like "ow, careful!"

THE DEVICE then makes loading noises, and instructors me to open THE DEVICE to see the contents of the discs.

inside the box, there are 4 gifts, each corresponding to a floppy disc and also to a conversation we've had at some point in the last 2.5 years.

at my Halloween party last month, to which Zain was my only work friend who made it, we watched Nightmare on Elm Street and Zain, who had recently watched some video breakdowns on it, was pointing out humorous background details. and in the sleep therapist scene, both he and Tim pointed at the screen and started shouting TRAM CATS!!! and we were all losing our shit

the thing is there's a Very Weird poster in that scene. and now. now it's in my house also.

anyway I legit almost cried this may be the most unhinged and lovely gift that anyone has ever given me. I'm going to miss working with this weirdo so much.

Question: What was your funniest favorite episode and your darkest favorite episode?

Jared: Fuckin' great question. First off, welcome. Funniest? Here's something, I think I know my answer to funniest, but I will say, not funniest while shooting. Like, kind of nerve-wracking while shooting. And I would go to two episodes, French Mistake and Changing Channels. And we had a great time during those episodes, like we had a great time filming those episodes? But it was kind of nerve-wracking because you're like, are we ruining this? Are we gonna ruin the show? Is it gonna be alright, are they gonna still watch us? It's like, okay, let's just make it real. I think French Mistake would probably be my number one because the opportunity to make fun of yourself, on camera, that's gonna last forever? It's pretty fuckin' cool. One of the most heartbreaking or heart-wrenching? Man, I forget the name of this episode. There was an episode later on, and I've talked about this before, but - there have been a few times - well, the finale, the series finale was hard. Not all of it, obviously, there was a lot of fun stuff, but that fucking barn scene was heartbreaking for months leading up to it, 'cause we were in the pandemic. There was an episode prior to that where Jensen and I are standing outside the Impala and Sam is berating Dean for something? And I couldn't remember my lines. And that doesn't happen to me. And not that I'm cool or something like that - [audience discussing] - Prophet and Loss. And it was so difficult because, like - and I'm a professional. I know my job, I take it seriously, I prepare and I go to work and I do it. I give it everything I have. But my brain wouldn't let me find - I felt like I had dementia or something - and I don't mean to make light of dementia, I've had family with it who've passed from it. But I just was like, I don't know what I'm saying right now, I can't fucking remember what I'm supposed to do next. And it was so difficult to get through it, and I kinda realized later that it was because Jared didn't like what Sam was saying? And so it was really difficult to learn. I went home and I cried myself to sleep. And I came home - I came to set the next day? And my eyes wouldn't open. 'Cause I went home and I was like, fucked up, I fucked up, I ruined Sam, I ruined Supernatural, like what's wrong with me? Like I know I did my homework, I've prepped for days, weeks, months, whatever, for hours a day. And I just couldn't do it. And I think I realized - and funny enough, to an earlier question? Sacrifice was like that, for me. With the Sam and Dean bit of, like, you know what I asked for forgiveness for in there was letting you down. Like who do you go to next, another vampire? You know? It was so difficult to get out, that - like, there was a disconnect? Like my own body's self preservation mode that I don't know where it exists, like kicked in. Don't say that shit, don't say it. That ain't gonna feel good, you're not gonna like that. So I would say those two sequences in Sacrifice and Prophet and Loss were, in hindsight - at the time I didn't know! You go to work, you're like I know my lines, I can say all the words right now. And then you get in the scene, you're doing it and you're like, why is this so hard? Why am I not rem- I know I did my preparation. So those two would be the most difficult.

Jared: But yeah, French Mistake, and then Changing Channels like, [does the voice] Nutcracker!!! Which was, by the way, terrifying. That was probably my scariest because the machine legitimately - and it was, when we were there, they put you in these, like, ski boots. They have redone ski boots? So you're in and then they lock you in, and the fuckin' ball on the stick was a legit ball on a stick that went like this [mimes ball movement and makes noise]. And so they sat me there and they're like, okay, you see this X mark on the thing? You're like yeah yeah, I see it. And you're locked in, they're like okay, don't let your hips go past that. Like, [incredulous expression] I'm sorry? So if I'm here [mimes moving hips forward], I'm getting hit in the nuts. [moves hips back] If I'm here, I'm okay. And so I was like, I think the first take we did, they're like, okay, we're gonna go ahead and do the stunt. Which I didn't get hit, it just looked like it. But I think I was like, okay, so the X mark? And they're like, yeah. And I was like, okay [pushes hips way back], I'm ready! And they were like, you look really weird right now. And I was like, no, I feel good, I feel good. And so I finally had to go, and I think the first one, as soon as I knew, it was like three, two, one, I was gonna get hit? I go [makes pained face and leans back]. And they're like, Jared, listen, we're hoping not to hit you, we need you to hold a straight face until the machine does that thing. And I was like [high pitched voice] Okay, I got it. So that was probably the most physical danger I felt I was gonna be in.

T is an obvious tease who wants R, but knows he can’t cross it too much. I’ll amend something a little though. I think for R, T is a safe option to explore herself in that way. She feels he’s a safe bet to flirt with because T won’t take advantage and will be very patient and accommodating of  her. She appears to clam up when T responds too strong.

1. T and R are definitely opposites but in a good way. T said they are yin and yang which is why their friendship works so well. I think they balance each other out a lot.

I finished Hilda season 3

It's been like an hour since I just watched the finale...I want to be honest with all of you reading this. This is not going to be a review. I am not spoiling anything. It's more so how I am feeling.

Another thing I'm going to be honest about is that I had a Tumblr draft planned for my reaction of the final season. I had images and what I said written already...but experiencing it firsthand...that draft is dishonest because...how I felt after watching the finale.

For 20 minutes...I was legit sobbing, saying "Oh God" many times...I screamed into my pillow and just the whole time, I was pacing and standing...I sent some voice messages to some friends of mine...

If you've seen TASM films, you know how Andrew Garfield cries right? That was me...I think I was crying like that but...more intense. Which may sound stupid. But it's the best comparison I want to say.

What's interesting, I was wanting to cry...I did during the finale. But after it ended...I got my wish but...oh God...the fact it took me an hour to finally start making this post.

And listen, there are many great animated shows out there. But I want to say...whatever small problems I and others have with Hilda...this is truly my favorite show of all time. And it's possibly the greatest cartoon I've ever watched. And it will stand to the test of time. Especially with this being the greatest finale I watched.

Just a heads up. Don't expect me to make posts or retweet for a while. Very likely a week. My mood could change. But after finishing the season...I don't want to work or plan certain things. Despite watching this season made me think about my Cartoonverse stuff. Because there are things that will change it forever, likely for the better.

So, yeah...I was thinking about my future...because of this show...I feel like a new part of my life has started I guess because of this. Which may sound silly, but yeah.

Fabledconnections may be just in a relationship right now, but any ideas for how their wedding is like? The rest of the Wukongverse are no doubt invited with Goldie as Starfruit's best woman.

Since their going to have their own Eclipse twins down the road, will Lilac be the one to be carrying them? Since Starfruit carried their MK?

Oh gosh, I could see their wedding being a little like the situation in "Marry Me" (2022 film & webcomic) where Lilac just gets frustrated by dancing around his and Starfruit's engagement to the public eye and is like "You. Me. Married. NOW." "YES SIR!" <3 and they get married on stage with Lilac's bandmates (+Goldie who was with Starfruit on his VIP pass) as witnesses.

Later a much smaller, intimate gathering is held. They just needed the initial shock to go off before they were comfortable doing a "legit" ceremony. Starfruit cries during his vows + when Lilac come down the aisle. Lilac is def wearing a tricked-out dress suit with embrodiery and sequins, while Starfruit is lucky that he remembered to wear the same coloured socks.

Goldie is Starfruit's best woman and she will take her axe (guitar) to any potiential party crashers. Takes her role as "best woman" very seriously.

As for the twins, theres also the chance of Starfruit and Lilac getting their own Eclipse Twins via fairytale situations rather than naturally. Or Lilac decides to take a break from live performances to stay at home for a couple of years so he and Starfruit can focus on raising a family. Them royalities do be paying out.

What my OC's would think of the barbie movie.

Helluva/Hazbin: Aella- would take her son to the movie cause she thought it would be a funny lighthearted movie. Only to cry like 5 times, especially at the end of the movie when "What was I made for" started playing. Then she later goes home and pulls out all of her barbies from her garage.

Aponi- the speech got to her the first time and she tried really hard to hide the tears that spilled during it and during "What was I made for". Understands the overall on a major level.... sits for the next few days with a numb look on her face as she listens to "what was I made for"

Azzaria- "HA FUCK THE PATRIARCHY" and also "I'm kenough". She also buys lots of merch.

Becca- went to see it with Blitz and loona, only to cry at "What eas I made for" specifically when the childhood scenes are playing in the background because it einded her of her own childhood.

Cordelia- Gloria is her favorite character. Sings the entire soundtrack (badly) while also dancing. Later after she processes the movie, she cries, because she understood the pressure to be perfect.

Furcalor- favorite character is Barbie (Margot Robbie). She fumes at how misogynistic the men in the movie were. Even tho her color is yellow and gold, she wears full blow hot pink to the movie..

Linda "Bunny" Davis- "not all men are like that!" and "the movie is very anti men, and in this society it really shouldn't be!"

Roxxie- cries for weeks while constantly wearing pink.

TPOIF: Ella- cries through the whole movie while leaning on Eli.

Eli- holds ella as he watches the movie, understanding its about equality. Also buys "I am kenough" hoofies for him and ella so they can match.

Mia- wants to fight literally every man in the movie. Loreley has to hold her back.

Loreley- tears up, but doesn't say anything even though she needs to cry her eyes out.

Alistar- "*rolls his eyes as he talks to a misogynist about how they understood the movie wrong* its about equality, dipshit! The movie shows how if we treated men the same way, there would be a fucking UPROAR but yet we treat women like this." Would also wear an "I am kenough" hoodie.

Rosalyn- she LOVES Gloria. She went home and broke out all her old barbies to play with hope.

Eve- loves how they went about making the film and is obsessed with President barbie.

Alruna- smiles through the whole movie because of the amazing message it's trying to send.

Deena- she balls her fucking EYES out. She knows her sister would love the damn movie, and she understands How pressure feels.

Clare- tries to hide that she cries, but laughs through the whole movie every time a man is dragged through the mud.

Carol- fucking CRIES. because she had to grow up real fast when she got married to John, and she wasn't allowed her childhood anymore. She really needs a hug.

Jacob- likes it and likes Ken, but doesn't appreciate how Ken rose up against barbie. He wears pink not because his family made him, but because he wanted to be THAT dad. Bjys his family babies afterwards and makes sure his girls know how loved they are..

John- "ugh. Why would I see the barbie movie? Critics say it's all about WOMEN" (ps.my dad legit did this. He said that he didn't like the babrie movie cause people say Ken was "silenced" in the end. My dad has not seen the movie. I lost a bit of respect for my father after he said that tbh)

Eathan- buys a Ken doll afterwards, and buys Carol a doll that looks like her with a note that says "you were made to be the best woman in the universe, my love"

Hope- this girl cries her eyes out at the end. She then goes to play barbies with her mom.

Isaac- "oh I LOVE Margot Robbie!!!!"

Asher- too young to understand and laughs at all the jokes. Later asks why his sister and mom were crying.

Emily- tears up with a sad smile before leabing onto her mom, hugging her.

Other: Avianna- cries. Also laughs at how much men get dragged.

Frozenverse: Eirwen- glances continuously at her mom when "what was I made for" plays. She also starts to break down when after the movie, her mother hugs her and kisses her on the head murmuring "i love you so much, my little snow".

Hi! So I have a few things I wanted to say/ask so hopefully this isn't too long or out of place or anything

Okay so first off, you always reblog and say such nice things about my art in the tags and I wanted to say I appreciate it so much, I never know what to say but like you're the backbone of the hikakao community so it feels like a seal of approval in a way haha. And your art is so amazing like, damn! I love it sm. Kaoru has been my fav character for nearly a decade so I love seeing that its not just me he has a grip on, and as an autistic person myself who loves princesses’ and specifically Cinderella… well your hc means a lot to me haha. Oh and your hanahaki fic??? I ugly cried. SO damn good like the characterizations… one of the best Hikakao fics I've read on god

So I kinda wanted to ask two things, first being if you had to choose for the other hosts to have a fav princess who would it be? Im personally very partial to Tamaki loving Belle, given the like french beauty and romanticism of it all, plus her giving herself up for the safety of a parent connection. I like the idea of him being kinda dumb and taking it as you need natural inner AND outer beauty, which he oh so obviously has in spades and that kind of nonsense. Idk I was just curious if you'd have an opinion on this as ive been giving it some thought lately. Especially on Hikaru, I think he would like a more down to earth princess that doesn't have too much frills or singing in the film, like Merida because it's the most adventurous one without character songs if you're just going off disney. But idk I feel like another princess would suit him better, I just can't think of one rn

Second was if you had any thoughts or analysis of how the maid the twins had when they were young impacted them and their development? And more importantly how it impacted them each differently? Like obviously her saying no one may ever be able to tell them apart fucked with their heads, but like idk. Ive been thinking about it. And what if they never met her, and she never said that? Would they of been less warped? I think they'd just meet someone else who they liked who couldn't tell them apart, who'd just say the same thing in a different way. But how key was her betrayal of trust during a high stakes robbery of their parent's estate to all this? Im just musing at this point lmao

Oh also less an ask but I personally hc Kaoru to dissociate and the like frequently, and how maybe them being in sync all the time in their mannerisms really helps him with his autopilot moments, and Hikaru is always ready and able to catch him up to speed on what's happening and what they just did, if its something he would care to know that is. And I hc Hikaru as bipolar, his depression just manifests really angerly instead of traditional sadness. But my point is I love the idea that they're just so used to the other that any mentally ill or neurodivergent behavior one of them does the others just like “Oh yeah Kaorus just like that. You know how it is. What do you mean you don't know anyone afraid of hairdryers? Like legit afraid? Yeah no thats just a thing. Hmm. Well you should get over it it's his fear not yours I dont see how it concerns you.” and like gets defensive if anyone tries to say it's weird lmao

THIS IS SO FUCKING SWEET YES!!! I WAS DRAWING HIKAKAO RIGHT AS YOU SENT THIS ASK TOO BTW.... i was htinking like, should i post this... theres kissing..... but then i remember why it's so rewarding to do what I love <3 really and truly. I've met SO many incredibly kind, creative, and thoughtful people through hikakao it's insane. And tbh it makes me want to never stop posting about them even if it nets me hate every now and again LMAO it's just, stuff like this is irreplaceable to me. And I LOVE your art!!!!!! It's SO cute... the picture of Kaoru dressed as cinderella made me legit scream. I sent it to all my friends and showed it to my brother haha. The whole Kaoru/Cinderella headcanon is very personal to me as you can probably gather from my carriage posting. so whenever I see it I go nuts (in a good way. it not destructive).

I think it's very funny (in a good way) that you already had a special interest in princesses, esp Cinderella. For me, it's like...I can NOT look at anything Cinderella related normally anymore because I'm reminded of the carriage allegory, and yet we have Cinderella movie nights every thursday now because of me...I describe my relationship with Cinderella as "stockholm syndrome" because i legit didn't care about or really even know Cinderella before all this went down, but now she is my Worst Enemy but Best Friend and if anybody says Cinderella is mid I'm blowing up another hostage.

Also!!! Thank you so much about the fic!!! While looking back I feel like there are def things I could improve on, I do really like that fic. As somebody who's personally arospec, I have trouble writing the "feelings" of romance so I tried my best. I have other Hikakao adjacent stories I'm writing and I wanna post them here!!!

Okay, onto the questions...firstly, YES, Tamaki DOES seem like the type to love Belle. He may also enjoy Rapunzel and her whole being held captive her whole life because maybe he feels the same way with his own family situation. Haruhi strikes me as a little mermaid type, no real reason, I just get that vibe. Although Kyoya probably relates to the original fairytale of the little mermaid in some ways for sure. I actually HC Mori's favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast, so he's probably also really into Belle. As for Hani, I'm not sure...Giselle, maybe. He likes her whimsy.

Hikaru is interesting, because I feel like he's like Me in which he HATES Cinderella because he has to hear about it 24/7 but if ANYBODY said anything mean about cinderella he'd be like...you bitch...you take that BACK. Altho I have this headcanon that Hikaru's favorite princess is Alice from Alice in Wonderland (tho she really isn't a "princess") because he always liked that movie better. Kaoru would cry as a kid tho when Hikaru said he thought that movie was better so he pretended to like Cinderella more. But he doesn't. Merida tho...that's a very good choice, I can defff seeing Hikaru being a big Merida fan.

So, to the second question: it's very interesting! What stood out about that maid to Hikaru and Kaoru was the fact she was mean to them. being raised as rich and "better" than everyone else, all the maids HAD to be nice or they got fired pretty much, so to see a maid go against that status quo, to treat them honestly...that's why they liked her so much.

If anyone else had said "nobody will be able to tell you two apart", would it have hurt? sure. But it wouldn't be devastating, because they likely wouldn't care about that person's opinion. but they liked this maid, they looked up to her in a weird way. Having somebody you like and trust tell you something hurtful is way more harmful than if a stranger did it.

Now...would they be LESS twisted if it never happened? I doubt it. I mean, maybe they'd be LESS focused on looking identical, but they would still be rather cruel and mischievous, because that's how they were simply raised: they were raised being taught their actions have no consequences, because they're better than everyone else. Simple by being "Hitachiins", they had a pass to do all sorts of nasty shit to people because they were rich and powerful. Besides, canonically, their mom & dad were barely in their lives, and child neglect causes the children to act out to get attention, usually via things that would get them scolded. So, while they miiight not have been AS keen on matching had that maid never said what she did before leaving them forever, they would probably be just as mean and cruel.

To le third point: YES that is so good. Kaoru very much dissociates in my heart of hearts as well. He has days on end where he doesn't feel like he's in his own body, everything's sort of a blur, he can't remember things well...Hikaru's there for him in those moments at least.

I always saw Hikaru and Kaoru as ADHD/Autism solidarity. But bipolar is an interesting one, too. I could def see it.

Also the hairdryer thing FUCKING RELATABLE...I'd think Kaoru is "afraid" of hairdryers/thunder - just really fucking loud noises that are sudden and/or unceasing. They don't make him "cower" necessarily but like, he gets super jittery/irritated because he gets overwhelming anxiety from it. Hikaru as a kid probably didn't understand why his brother acted so strangely to certain sights/sounds/touches, and maybe at first teased him about it, but when it was clear these things actually DISTRESSED Kaoru he stopped and did everything he could to make him feel better. and if anybody makes fun of kaoru for it Hikaru beats the shit out of them.

It's 1am and I'm crying

So, uh, I decided to watch the 1937 version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs because I haven't seen that film in ages. I honestly think it's been at least 10 years since I've last seen it. The last time I remember watching it was on VHS, which hasn't been a thing for years. And the ending... man, I cried my eyes out. Legit, it's such a beautiful and happy ending that I couldn't help but cry.

Everything is perfect: the animation, the music, the overall vibe. Honestly, sometimes you just need a really happy and wholesome ending and this movie succeeds with that.

Since there's all the talk about the remake, I wanted to see how well the original holds up. And honestly, I think it's still a very charming and sweet movie. Is it perfect? No, it's a product of its time and therefore will have outdated elements. This mainly applies to how female characters are written and how romance is written. But for what it's worth, I think Snow White's kindness and ability to look on the bright side do make her an enjoyable character. Not very complex but not boring. The Dwarves will always be my personal faves though. I loved them as a child with their antics and charming personalities.

There are also so many things I noticed as an adult that I overlooked as a child:

The animation is gorgeous, particularly the backgrounds. It's a very beautiful film that any kid would get sucked into (also the animals are super cute) (at least the forest sequence wasn't as scary as I remember)

the music is also very catchy. I never noticed that the animation synchs up to the melody during the musical numbers which is such a cool detail

Doc getting easily flustered and mixing up certain phrases. He kinda reminds me of myself. Maybe that's why he was always my favorite 🤔

Grumpy seems to be someone who grew up fearful and defensive. He's always worried for the safety of himself and his family. He takes time to open up and allow himself to be vulnerable

Continuing with Grumpy, he obviously likes Snow White without openly expressing it. He literally waits for her to give him a kiss even though he acts like he doesn't want it. He's actually a very interesting character that I appreciate a lot more now

The Evil Queen always acts very subdued with her wickedness until she becomes the witch. Then, she goes full crazy mode and doesn't hide her cruel intentions

she's also smart as evidenced when she checked if there was an antidote for the poison apple. some villains just skip that step. little details like that make the film more enjoyable for me

So yeah, that's my rant. Thanks for listening

Across the Spider Verse feelings

omg omg omg omg this movie was amazing I can’t even ramble about everything I need to, want to so here are the stand outs:

First of all praise the animation endlessly. Like this movie shows so much that can be done with animation and why its such an amazing medium. Things done with the camera movement, switching between appearances within a single shot and glass. The art direction is so good with so many different appearances that the nailed not only with each Spiderman and Spiderwoman but also their worlds. And the fight scenes omg, so so good and creative.

Also I really like the writing in this. So many of the jokes where good but then the emotional drama. Legit almost cried cause of the film’s opening. Following Miles in this was heartbreaking especially with interactions with Peter B. and Gwen and his parents.

Hobie is amazing. Although I do like all the Spiderpeople (save for Jessica) and there are so many good background spider people too.

The music is so good. So good. Like during the chase or a later scene when Miles is dealing with all his thoughts.

The emotional story of Gwen and her dad

Speaking of which Gwen’s world is amazing.

Thing about the central conflict. I have questions, but I’m not mad at Miguel and I’m not mad at Miles. I have issues with each, but I like what I’m seeing.

The twist at the end omg. OMG. I’m so excited to see how things pick up. I’m scared and excited to see the resolutions and conclusions

It’s amazing how the Spot went from humorous to terrifying. 

I did have a slight issue with the live action inclusions, but nothing too much

Also I know a lot of people have a problem with the ending. I will say that it has a bit too much padding trying to get everyone set where they should be. But other than that I liked it.

Ok so. GREAT fun. I haven't listened to the new grandson album as much as I was meaning to (life has been in the way & iamx has had a chokehold on me recently), BUT I recognized them enough for those songs to still be fun. And!!!! He played plenty of older shit, and I had a Blast

I was trying to not spend too much of the concert filming (I've been guilty of that before), so I have only 2 videos. One for Dirty and one for Blood//Water (which was the closing song), bc those r both Great. I had SO much fun belting out We Did It tho, practically Yelling it. More fun there than trying to film lmao.

And then there was the song Heather. I didn't know if he'd play it bc it's such a raw song, but he did. Got down onto the floor (so i couldn't see him bc im short lol but that was ok), had us turn our phone flashlights on. & he just sang. A calmer moment. & see the thing is, I've legit cried to that song before. In the car before I knew I'd have to put Cassy down, this album was playing. And that song just... got to me. So hearing it again, experiencing that moment, I'm ngl I cried at the same damn part. Just some little tears, nothing too serious, but still. Got some Emotions from it man... I didn't take any pics during this part bc I was just living in the moment entirely. And I think that's just fine. Sometimes things are better left that way.

Other highlights include Oh No and Stigmata and Stick Up, all of which were Lots of fun to jump around too. EXCEPT I COULDNT JUMP TOO MUCH bc I had water cans in my pockets hfkshfkdhd which was worth it to not have my hands occupied but it did limit me. Yes i did splash myself a few times. I kept it relatively under control so it was fiiiine.

All in all, Lots of fun. I don't go to concerts very much, since I'm not typically the type that likes crowds, but once in a while for artists I care about... yeah ❤

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job #17: “Robin” | January 7, 2008 - 12:15AM | S02E07

This could be my least favorite episode of the series so far, which is really too bad. The Robin wraparound, in which Eric buys Tim his own Robin Williams, is funny and quite memorable. Everything else is sorta middling for various reasons. In that wraparound, Robin is played by David Born, who is a noted Robin Williams impersonator. He has a pretty legit career as a character and voice actor. Recently some friends and I spotted him in the Chuck Norris/Jonathan Brandis film Sidekicks, which featured him in a minor role. We all thought he looked familiar and looked him up, shocked to see that he was the titular Robin from this episode. 

Tim and Eric’s comedy is sorta interesting in that it seems like it’s fairly good at not relying on specific cultural references almost at all. But they also love bad celebrity impersonators, which indirectly is a cultural reference in of itself. Some people might be too young to know who Robin Williams is at all. It’s important to know that Robin was often derided by other comics but they’d usually take it all back after meeting him; by all accounts he was one of the nicest guys in the world.

The annoying hyperactive persona on display here is pretty accurate. But the ending (featuring a cameo from Keith Crawford, I think?) where Robin shows up to give Tim & Eric a thumbs up for reuniting and doing their thing on stage is also very accurate; he was indeed a fan of comedy, and sought out things that were cutting-edge. I do believe that he liked Tim & Eric and I vaguely recall Tim talking about meeting him and having a very positive experience.

Going further back, if you watch Bob Odenkirk and David Cross’ sketches on Comic Relief, they are notably a cut above what anyone else was doing on that show. But Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg would furrow their brow and act like what they did was too weird too be funny. I remember Whoopi shaking her head after their sketch and saying “I must be getting old.” Robin was the outlier in being supportive of those guys, and was clearly a fan.

When I saw the Comedians of Comedy Show in San Francisco, I was hanging out in line with some friends. While driving in, I did what my mom always does, which is point to the hillside where Robin Williams house was. “You know Robin Williams lives over there” I said, mocking my mother unnecessarily. Naturally, Robin became a running topic on that trip. For some reason I started reminiscing about a particular ad advertising Burger King toys for the film Jumanji. This involved me imitating the ad, which cried the name of the movie over and over. As I was doing this, Robin fucking Williams speed-walked past me and got in line for the show. He was just there to be a comedy fan, and some dipshit is screaming the name of one his movies, completely gratuitously. A hilarious coincidence, sure. But man, I felt like a schmuck. I ain’t trying to make Robin Williams feel weird about attending the same show I am!

As for the rest of this episode: we got Dressed to Impress, which is a decent Dougpound bit. We got Dunngeon, which features Richard Dunn in a mesh shirt interviewing Dave Navarro. Dave plays his part pretty straight, and you almost wanna believe that when he gets up and leaves in the middle of the sketch that it’s a genuine moment. The outtakes on the DVD show him giggling during the shooting, so I wouldn’t take it too seriously. Tim & Eric play a German goth band. It’s not very strong; in fact I forgot these characters ever existed.

There’s Demons, which is a hidden camera prank thing that sorta devolves to a point where it didn’t really need to be a hidden camera prank. Tim & Eric hold auditions for a fake horror movie and over-laugh at a mild gaffe and then share an awkward group hug with, I believe, Stephanie Courtney, acting as another producer. This bit isn’t very satisfying. I remember promos making use of this footage in a more effective way, featuring footage of the actors acting scary that wasn’t in the actual episode. They end it with a clip of Will Forte from season one gently saying “I’m a demon”, a line I was never super fond of. Brandon please don’t put that on our discord soundboard. Please. 

Noted wad Rainn Wilson appears in a sketch about an Encyclopedia that just lists numbers. Honestly, this is an okay sketch. But my aversion to Rainn Wilson is just too strong. I don’t want misery inflicted on anyone, but I would experience significant schadenfreude if he were to ever be found out to be a despicable human being. I envision white supremacist compound for him, with maybe a smattering of sex trafficking. I’m not saying I’ve heard anything; I’m unfairly profiling him based on finding his personality abrasive in interviews. I remember growing to despise him while listening to The Office DVD commentary tracks. Why the fuck was I listening to The Office DVD commentary tracks, anyway? I believe both Rainn Wilson and the Dunngeon set (I’ll be surer when I see the episode again) gets reused in Tim & Eric Nite Live.

Pound for pound, this might be the weakest episode yet. But it’s far from worthless.

On January 1st, Adult Swim did a cool marathon where they played the first episode of each of their shows in reverse chronological order of when they aired. This included a rebroadcast of the original Brak Show pilot “Leave It to Brak”, which was later reworked into “Mr. Bawk Ba Gawk”. The pilot version had drawn backgrounds instead of photo-realistic ones. This was the first time they aired this pilot on Adult Swim proper. It’s original airing was a stealth showing on Cartoon Network, before Adult Swim was a thing.

Notably, they sometimes swapped the first-aired episode for the first-produced episode. Also I can pick out a few things where they didn’t seem to always go by strict reverse chronological order, at least not by air date. Here’s the schedule (as always, thank you swimpedia):

I finally got to watch the Sandman and I honestly loved it. The Sandman comics were my first taste of the American comic medium and I loved them so much. I went back to them constantly over the years and now that the show is out: it did not disappoint. I legit cried during my favorite chapter (the one with death) because of how much it moved me. It was always and will always be one of my favorite pieces of comic literature and seeing it filmed was just heart wrenching.

Oh my gosh, 9 hours?! I thought my licensing exams were rough at 4– I hope your board exam went well! Sometimes resting before a big test is actually the best because your mind is more refreshed.

Have the BEST time seeing Seventeen! I’m so excited for you!! I went to the Oakland show last weekend and it was AMAZING! Dare I say, even better than Ode to You? (because we were fortunate and had ot13– especially seeing Coups be able to interact with fans and just seem so happy to be there this time— even if he did have a stomachache, his eyes screamed joy and love for fans showing up and filling every level of the massive venue!) Level 1 is always where I get seats for shows because I’m on the shorter side of average height as well so it’s just easier to be able to see that way 😅

My one big recommendation is to not film to much on your phone, you’ll walk out remembering less that way. I try to stick to recording all the ments, but I get too tempted by my favorite songs not to film them and then don’t recall as much of the experience 🙃— but like how could I not record the HHU stages? 🤩 Here’s hoping Mingyu is back for your show because good Lord that man will destroy you in person with his visuals! And Jeonghan is just breathtakingly beautiful… but yeah, your girl had straight tunnel vision for Wonwoo since he was on my side of the stage most of the show 😍😍😍

AGGGHHH IM SO SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY! I'm on my way back home from the Fort Worth show yesterday!!!

Thank you for the well-wishes on my boards! I really hope I pass 😖 Partially because I don't want to have to do them again, partially because it kind of determines my fate for next year too 😭

Onto more fun things!! THANK YOU SOSOSOSO MUCH FOR THE CONCERT TIPS! I tried my best not to record but couldn't resist for some sets (I'm looking at you RWY 😭)! Unfortunately, Mingyu was unable to make it still because he was still in quarantine 😓 That said, it made it a very dangerous place for me because my eyes were WANDERING 😵‍💫 Surprisingly, maknae line out of all members caught my attention most 😳 Seungkwan was all over the place and so full of energy! Maybe it's because he was on my side more frequently lol, but his fan interactions were the cutest!!! He also challenged Chan to a dance battle and might I say, he kicked his way into my heart 😳🥲 Chan was so full of energy and happy to be back! It was so nice to see so much support for him because from what I've gathered his fan base is smaller (?) Vernon also!! WHAT A MAN 😭 He has such good groove when he dances and his stage presence is like ? Idk how to explain it lol, chill, but also not? LOLOL

TL;DR: My whole bias line is a mess and in the works rn 😂 Who knows? My whole layout might change to be a Seungkwan stan in the next few days 😶

In regards to the whole concert!!! Interestingly, I remembered vocal unit's stage best??? Maybe it's because I didn't record it like you said (recorded HHU and PU's lol). Legit, I cried so hard during Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Our Day, it was embarrassing 😅 It's my sad gorl song and this year I particular has been a year of growth and learning, but painful nonetheless. It's also nearing the end of summer here, and I was just so happy and relieved(?) I did something big and expensive for my own happiness (no other deep reason) for once 🥲

‼️‼️ PRIMA FACIE SPOILERS ‼️‼️

- Jodie is on stage for 1 hour 40 minutes and only has ONE tiny break which is only a couple of minutes long (and this is only because there is a scene where she is rained on and has to get dried and changed) imagine trying to remember THAT much dialogue and in order? She is superhuman.

- The first half of the play is VERY funny. Jodie’s mannerisms and delivery of lines are hilarious. Both nights I was there the crowd were roaring with laughter at times. There is an excellent part where Jodie is stood on the table dancing (yes she does twerk and do the robot).

- Jodie does EVERYTHING herself. Which includes moving all the set props and furniture around to where they need to be for each part. She has to push a massive table around the stage, she takes binder folders in and out of the background set, she moves a light around, has to light candles etc...

- Jodie also gets changed ON STAGE multiple times throughout. For a lot of the show she wears a suit but at one point she changes into an emerald green floor length beautiful dress and also a shocking pink blouse.

- Her character Tessa is from Liverpool which makes me soooooo happy that Jodie was able to use a bit of her own accent, but when Tessa is in court or talking about the legal system, she changes her accent slightly.

- Jodie is all over the place! She jumps on top of the table multiple times, dances on the table, moves everything around herself, walks from one side of the stage to the other, has to hurriedly get changed on stage, always expressive with her arms out and her hands are always busy, it’s 1 hour 40 minutes of cardio for Miss Comer!

- Tessa is unlike any character we have ever seen from Jodie, the way she comes across, the way she carries herself, the way she delivers lines, Tessa is like no other.

- Multiple times Jodie actually cries, this isn’t like during filming for tv or film where you get multiple opportunities to film a shot, she had to cry immediately on cue, and oh boy was it realistic.

- Jodie also speaks for other characters! Once again thrilling us with her ability for different accents.

- The way Jodie commands the stage is truly captivating, the confidence! But when the character drops and she receives a standing ovation and cheers at the end, Jodie comes out and she looks almost shy, it is SO precious. Clasping her hands together, bowing and waving to the crowd.

- The second half of the performance will absolutely break you. There were grown men crying in the foyer afterwards on opening night. If you thought watching The Last Duel hit hard emotionally, just wait until you see Jodie tackling such a sensitive topic right in front of your eyes. You will leave the theatre feeling like you’ve been hit around the face multiple times. I legit couldn’t speak after opening night, it affected me SO much. The power of Jodie’s acting and her ability to make you feel what her character is feeling is incredible.

- There is a very impactful part of the play where Tessa says that she is doing this for all women, and at that moment the lights come up, so ‘Tessa’ can see clearly all of the women in the audience. That choked me up so much.

- The music is absolutely divine and fits SO well with the ambience of the play. Everything is just so perfect and snappy and it will feel like the quickest 1 hour 40 minutes of your life. It’s just SO powerful.

- Jodie WILL make direct eye contact with you and she WILL hold that eye contact for longer than you could ever imagine. She perfectly engages with the audience to draw you in even deeper, as though she is speaking to you, as though you are a part of this story.

All in all I am simply blown away. My breath was taken. My thoughts were all over the place. My immediate reaction was I NEED to see this again. I could watch it a thousand times over and still find new nuances of Jodie’s performance to obsess over. What this woman is doing, what she is achieving and can achieve, is like no other. And I’m not just saying this because I love her so much, I have truly never seen a performance from anyone else like this one. The atmosphere on opening night was ELECTRIC. Everyone knew this was a special moment in time.

Jodie’s light just continues to shine even brighter with no sign of dimming at all. This woman is so special. ❤️

🍒 cherry magic the movie... abridged

so, the Cherry Magic movie is basically the story of how Kurosawa and Adachi got married

well, not legally bcs JP STILL HASN'T legalized gay marriage but they're married in the ways that matters.

at the beginning of the story, Adachi was given the opportunity to go to Nagasaki as a temp staff to help with the opening of the Nagasaki branch. he was hesitant bcs , during the New Year celebration, Kurosawa was very explicit about his excitement for them spending winter, spring, summer, fall together, just hanging out and traveling and having fun together. Adachi didn't wanna go at all... he wanted to be with his boyfie so he kept it from Kurosawa but sikes, Kurosawa found out and suggested that Adachi go bcs it's such a good opportunity. and... Adachi went even though he didn't want to go. baby boi went bcs he thought that was what his boyfie wanted 😭 they needed to communicate but didn't and i wanted to throw my shoe at the screen. 

he went and they both suffer for it... like, a lot of poetic yearning... there was this one beautiful scene with Kurosaw where he put on his suit jacket and grabbed his pen lovingly. yes, THE PEN!!!!! he tucked it into his brest pocket and just... took a deep shuddering breath and closed his eyes as he ran his thumb down the length of the pen asfghjkldi mtfckn- that scene was so beautiful my heart hurt u dont understand the slow, tortured breathe, the yeARNING!!! 

anw, Adachi booked a plane tix to visit Tokyo but he was involved in a minor accident... he fainted but his phone got crushed bcs of a truck and Rokakku freaked out and told Kurosawa that Adachi got into an accident and Kurosawa flew his ass over to Nagasaki and ran into Adachi's hospital despite the fckn pouring rain looking like he's about to cry and fckn pass out and die and ended up crying on Adachi's couch. fckn Machida Keita is so fckn talent i am still in fckn awe of the raw emotional in his eyes and the slant of his mouth and his soft, whispery, 'Adachi?' asfghjkldi kill me fck 

so, they went to Adachi's home and talked and Kurosawa legit cried and worried and twisting his hands and Adachi just reached over to pat his head and touch his tight huhuhu ;3 hehehe ;3 then he leaned in but the kiss wasn’t shown explicitly… im convinced they couldn’t afford the kissing fee for Machida Keita and Akaso Eiji (it’s a thing in the jpn film industry, apparently… kisses cause extra rip) and they laced their fingers together!!! and they kissed and their fingers just locked one another!!! and!!! AHHHHHH IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SEXCCCCC HNGH 

and when they woke up the next morning, bruh!!! SO SOFTTTTTT KUROSAWA TOUCHED THE BACK OF HIS FINGERS SOFTLY AND LOVINGLY AGAINST ADACHI’S CHEEK OMFG 

but also, how they managed to sleep facing one another on Adachi’s small ass single bed is beyond me haha 

anw… they had breakfast and Adachi spilled soup on his crotch rip and Kurosawa was cleaning his thighs and such when he realized he could no longer hear Kurosawa’s thoughts!!! and they’re both so happy!!! Kurosawa touched his hand and his bicep and shoulder and filled on back hugged him hnghhhh they were so soft!!!

also, Kurosawa suggested they move in together that morning and that’s how my man moved in w/ his cutie patootie boyfie. later later, after a celebratory dinner of ‘new life’ w/ Tsuge & Minato, Adachi basically said that he’s ready to come out to their family and introduce each other to one another’s family and so they went… Kurosawa was warmly welcomed by the Adachi!! the Adachi is so cute!!! they’re so warm and wholesome <3 the mom was fine w/ them and Adachi was so surprised so she was like ‘Kurosawa is the person you choose, right?’ and the dad thanked Kurosawa for choosing Adachi as well hnghhh 

also also, Kurosawa was sooooo prim and proper at the Adachi’s AHAHAHAH they were both sitting in seiza!!! like, Adachi was sitting cross legged while Kurosawa was in seiza the whole time!!! and when Kurosawa prepared to make his intention clear (announce that they’ve been dating and then he intended to continue on creating happiness w/ Adachi), Adachi went into a seiza too! Kurosawa even used keigo!!!!!!!! he referred to himself w/ ‘watakushi’*!!!!!!! like bruhhhhhhh how are u so reverential and soft spoken??? i kennot!!! 

anw, Kurosawa’s mom wasn’t so thrilled w/ Kurosawa dating a man and didn’t wanna meet Adachi so he was like, ‘mb it’s better if i go alone, it’s okay, he’ll make everything right, Adachi doesn’t have to worry about anth’ but Adachi was like naw, this is us, this is our happiness, our future, yadah, yadah, we’re doing this together and so they went and oh boy… it was fckn intense… Kurosawa’s dad was pretty chill but his mom was worried and said not very nice things (i can’t transcribe it bcs my nihongo isn’t perfect… i understood it but not in detail rip sorry) 

*watakushi 私 it means ‘I’ but like referring to the self in the lowest, most humble way ever.

he could've just referred to himself as 'watashi' and call it a day with that level of formality but nope, my man went all out what a simp

my man Kurosawa was about to throw hands when his mom expressed concerned over their relationship but, thankfully, nth happened bcs they both expressed their conviction to ‘follow thru’ and try their best w/ their relationship. my boi Adachi literally said ‘YUICHI GA AISHITEIMASU’* asfghjkldi like omg babie u are so in love with Kurosawa, so full of conviction hnghhh but also… did u have to be so dramatic? lol 

*aishiteimasu is a BIG THING™, okay? at most, ppl would say ‘daisuki’... aishiteimasu is some profound shit, it’s fckn deep

my babie didn’t even say ‘Yuichi no koto’ he just said ‘Yuichi’ (if i remember correctly that is) and that’s even more personal and direct and concrete asfghjkldi 

Adachi was like ‘i was scared, etc. but meeting Yuichi made me less scared.’ and Kurosawa told his parents that meeting Adachi made him realized that he doesn’t have to be perfect, things don’t have to always go according to plan and Kurosawa’s mom recognized how he evolved for the good and thanked Adachi for it. then she said Adachi shouldn’t have to bring home any cakes or souvenirs bcs such things are not needed between family asfghjkldi and Kurosawa’s dad also said their loves are their individual things, as long as it makes them happy… they do them. 

like, such a sweet resolution but still… the scene w/ Kurosawa’s parents was SUFFOCATING U DON’T UNDERSTAND the tension was insane and there was NO background music at all and i nearly died bcs it was so, so tense… so, so personal… i couldn’t watch it… like, i kept on averting my eyes, as if I was the one confronting my parents. 

anw, they used each other’s given name w/o any honorific during this scene and it was so sweet~ ahhhhhh

right after that, they went to the beach and Kurosawa fckn pulled out the fckn rings asfghjkldi *SCREAM* i thought he’d probably suggest a civil partnership but he pulled out rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they even had a wedding montage immediately afterwards!!!!!!!!! fckn- 

they even reached upward toward the 'light' w/ their rings on their fingers!!!!! like in the opening of the series!!!!!! it was so beautifullllllll 😭

im not sure if the wedding was a legit ceremony or just an imagination but i bet it was legit… i mean fck JP’s marriage law, they can have a ceremony if they want. and Kurosawa seems like the type to suggest a ceremony and Adachi would def agree to it tbh 

sadly, it was in a church, not the traditional ceremony at a shrine huhu… they wore matching cream suits w/ roses in their breast pockets and Tsuge & Minator & their fams were there~ Kurosawa’s mom looked v happy 

the movies ended w/ Kurosawa and Adachi publicly holding hands as they walked thru the park~ 

anw, v wholesome and cute but omg there was so little dialogue??? like, they're just... looking at each other longingly and lovingly 70% of the movie... im not saying to cut the eye-loving but like, give them some lines, pls

but also also Machida-san and Akaso-san's are so fckn talented for acing the movie with so little dialogue

also… Rokakku cockblocked Kurosawa and Adachi's sexc time at the beginning of the movie bcs boi mistakenly called Kurosawa 😭✋ and then when Kurosawa leans in for the second time, Adachi's stomach growled. they laughed, Kurosawa said he'll make chicken ramen and Adachi was like "chicken ramen ga ore no ichi ban daisuki"* and Kurosawa went from ღ˘⌣˘ღ  to ಠ╭╮ಠ  in a second flat my man was jealous of a fckn bowl of chicken ramen that he was gonna make for his bf jesus christ u dumb simp ilysm 

*i love chicken ramen the most

also also, Tsuge & Minato’s probably living together now too! like, after dinner at Adachi-Kurosawa’s apartment, Tsuge suggested that they live together and said that he wants to be w/ Minato more… him being in a slump is his problem, he shouldn’t make it their problem. happy things, sad things, whatever, he wants to experience it w/ Minato yadah yadah (he and Minato wasn’t able to spend time together bcs he’s been suffering from writer’s block) 

oh and Kurosawa and Adachi were soooooo domestic when living together btw~ Adachi was so happy to see Kurosawa’s mail in his mailbox and Kurosawa be waking up and back hugging Adachi first thing in the morning fck 

oh and when Adachi made them omurice, Kurosawa was so fckn cheesy lol my man didn’t have the heart to dig-in and he was like ‘my heart is burning’ or sth like that lol a simp thru and thru i h8 him and his simp ass
