In 2005 when the story of “Vickie” came to me as a short story, I never thought that it would be a novel but 10 years later yet it did. Even more, it would have at least three actors/actresses lending their name in interest to play characters in a proposed TV series. Also that I would currently be approached by one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and their production company to hear what my Vickie books are all about. However, it is happening. Whether it works out or not, the journey is so astounding to me. I have submitted my story Southern Cross off to Imagine Impact for movie consideration. This is a program run by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer to accelerate TV/movie projects to market by allowing anyone to submit. This time they are teaming up with Netflix to produce various projects. Leni Rico Born in Linares, Spain, Leni Rico used to be a professional basketball player for 11 years assisting her teammates to triumph in Spain's 1st Division Championship. After graduating in Tourism Management, she quickly moved from the tourism industry and from the luxury cars sales to performing. Though she loved to play basketball professionally too she realized that her real passion was acting. Leni recently played in a movie called The Poison Rose with Morgan Freeman and John Travolta. She is also filming a TV series called DFW(La Guerra Silenciosa). Leni is a close friend and narrator to my Vickie book in Spanish. My good friend actress Leni Rico gave me a warm shoutout about my books. Leni stars in DFW TV series and recently played in The Poison Rose alongside Morgan Freeman and John Travolta which is showing soon. I have had a variety of responses to my Vickie book series. Some were deeply moved, some loved the story but the Vickie character bothered them. Whether you like the stories or not, they seem to provoke an emotion. For me, that is a humbling experience. Humbling as well as producer Barney Cohen writing the screenplay of The Lazarus Game based on the book Valkyrie. Barney is known for Guernica, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Forever Knight, The Wonderful World of Disney, and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and so on. He expressed to me what merit he saw in Vickie’s story and why The Lazarus Game caught his attention. It is an education to me that other people realize things in my book that I had not thought of like the significance of certain situations. While I mean them to be compelling and provoke thought, sometimes the story touches a nerve that is timely and relevant. He expressed that the Vickie story was very timely and should be a TV movie/show. My thanks to him for his sage advice and taking this project on, as well as actress Leni Rico for narrating my Vickie books that caught Barney’s attention and others. The only thing now is to get some production company or network to want to make this series. Vickie is a victim of tragedies but now a force taking on issues in the world. All of it forges her to her destiny which will change the world.
