One of the things I'm fascinated with about LensaAI is trying to see which images I submitted inspired certain portraits. It combines everything you submit, but I think I found a great comparison image here. Be sure to scroll right to see the full images (on insta). #lensaai #aigeneratedart #aiart #maidenariana #lgbtq #100daysofaiart https://www.instagram.com/p/ClrfyXfOVVB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Sorting through Lensa results, after feeding my thermal portraits into it.  Hoping to expand my sopurce material and get even more interesting AI results. Meanwhile glamour and cyberpunk seem the most interesting results today.

I've been learning a lot about "AI", machine-learning, procedural generation, and have decided where my chips fall.
These are great tools for making new and interesting art and design, but not at the expense of others, and not in areas of industry where automation isn't needed.
When we tried the Lensa app one of the things that really bothered me was noticing fragments of what looked like logos or signatures in the corners. If the art the AI had been trained on was ethically sourced then why would they leave those in, I had to ask? Digging deeper and deeper, there's just no comfortable answer for any diffusion model image generator I have found.
Setting these tools loose to learn from people and copy their unique voice that brought them work is wrong.
And, further, companies should not be allowed to opt-in any of their illustrators' work for AI generators. That artist's style is part of the artist. Once they leave, a trained robot should not be able to emulate them. It's basically like organ donation– a very personal decision that corpos can eff right the eff off of.
While I'm not afraid of new tools, eager to learn more about them and take advantage of them, it's clear that this new technology requires regulation and artists may require protection.

No I will NOT shut up about this.
The gaslighting and disrespect towards actual artists arguing against Lensa and other AI have been UNREAL. If you don’t know the problem with them I’m happy to educate, however if you know about the blatant abuse and exploitation and you are complicit because it doesn’t actually affect you so “who cares”, we are NOT friends. I have been told I am entitled to want financial compensation for my art, to unalive myself, that people hope I will never draw again, that I inspire no one, that they hope me illness. This is NOT okay. All for some “selfies”? Are you serious?

A really fantastic thread on the issues with AI, going through common arguments for it and rebutting them:
Tumblr media
Im fascinated by how similar Pro-AI arguments are to the old pro-NFT arguments, and how they can be responded to in the same way. “It’s the future,” “we can’t put it back in the box now,” “the ethics issues can be worked out later,” “if you critique it you’re a Luddite who’s afraid of Progress,” the condescending “if most artists are against it then most artists don’t understand their own field and need a tech bro to explain it to them,” and Grand platitude-filled declarations of how they will protect artists and defeat corporations/current copyright law to redefine creativity in some nebulous way (that isn’t true because you can’t permanently defeat corporate power through magic secret tech loopholes like a cheat code in a video game, and the only people likely to benefit from AI/NFTs are the tech billionaires who invested in the companies that created the tech) and so on and so on. I think that thread is a great rebuttal to most of those talking points
