Colin Morgan is a Master of Acting

This is a “duh obviously” statement, but I want to gush for a moment! Specifically, his performance as Dragoon and the Dolma!

I genuinely have trouble trying to register that these are the same person. I know they are, my brain knows they are, but trying to attach Colin to the Dolma is genuinely difficult.

The makeup is a huge factor, because he doesn’t really look like himself anymore, but his acting is the main reason. The voice he uses is the selling point. Colin is the one speaking. That’s his voice, but it sounds so completely different from his normal voice that it’s hard to mentally register that it’s Colin talking.

The same goes for Dragoon. His speaking voice is much higher than Colin’s, but he also speaks much deeper sometimes. The line in the GIF is the best example, because his voice turns so deep and hoarse while yelling at Uther. It is so difficult to connect this, to this:

There’s plenty of actors who make appearances in cinema in costumes or makeup that obscures most of their identity, but 99.9% I can see through it to the actor underneath. In this case, I have to force myself to see through it, to imagine the Dolma walking around talking like Colin, or Colin speaking like Dragoon while dressed as Merlin. Trying to imagine that is difficult to comprehend even though my brain knows it’s true.

Johnny Depp is a good example, but I can always see through it to him. Same with Michael Sheen! Both are incredibly talented and do become their characters entirely, but somehow I can always see them.

I can see Colin when I watch other shows with him in it, like Humans or benjamin, but that’s because he looks like himself so I can literally see Colin on screen. With the Dolma and Dragoon, it’s like having blinders on. I can’t see Colin.

That takes serious talent, to disappear so entirely into a role that viewers have trouble imagining it’s you.

Humans (TV) S1

Started watching Humans for Will Tudor's sake but GOD it is such a good show!! I don't usually watch or read sci-fi but this is really good!! Just finished season 1 in 2 days. I need to calm down a bit before digging into season 2.

Odi and George's storyline is the warmest and the most heartbroken. His clothing makes him look like a little child and I just want to hug him till the end of time. I adore George's characteristics as well. He is a scientist but also full of perception of humanity and emotion. Seems like a stubborn old fool but is actually very wise.

I like Leo instantly and it surprises me. As much as I like Merlin, I didn't pay much attention to the fact that Colin Morgen is in Humans before I watched it. However, Leo just stands out to me and I really like his unique way of talking and moving. His love for his family is so strong and moving. He looks so broken when he cries in contrast to the tough, spiky first impression. And when he smiles it's so bright and sweet I remember that he is the same actor as Merlin.

I love Leo and Max together. Max is such a sweet little brother. His fake synth smile is creepy, but his real smile is the sweetest thing in the world!!! I also really like it when Max tries to pray to god. it just strikes some weak spots in my heart.

Mattie is my favourite female character here. I didn't like her at first, but inside she was actually kind and passionate and doesn't afraid to act. Really admire her. I didn't expect that it would be her to bring back Mia to her family.

I quite like Detective Karen's storyline as well. She gave a different and quite logical opinion on the consciousness code matter. Her emotional journey is also striking! Her face is so expressive. And her ending is heartwarming~~ The best "back to normal"

Ohhh I have a few days off work, please prepare for the Colin Morgan onslaught..... (I've never looked forward to TV time so much in my life)....

I also apologise in advance for what is going to be a borderline creepy amount of posting about the guy. I've always loved him as an actor - he's astonishing - but I have some stuff to catch up on that's finally available on my subscription services so I can do an absolute marathon (while recovering from a really nasty illness).

Note: This show is honestly amazing, but I have to warn y’all, it was canceled after Season 3 and never got a proper ending. It’s still a very enjoyable watch, and the whump is amazing. Colin Morgan gives an incredible performance as always, and Gemma Chan might be the highlight of this series. 

TW’s: If I have any younger followers, please be careful with this show if you aren’t older than 14. It gets very dark and deals with themes of s*icide and s*xual assault (both shown on-screen at points), and has some gore and violence. One of the main characters is forced into s*x work, and there are multiple scenes involving/referencing this (especially in season 1). There is also blood and gore, though it’s not as disturbing sometimes especially since most of it involves blue-blooded robots (who can be healed fairly easily).
