124 years ago today, the newsies of New York started their strike against The World and The Journal!! To celebrate I made my own version of the front page picture<33

so in the 1890s dating language was a lot different from today…

so the newsies could say they were going on dates… but it would more likely be referred to as a public courtship.

and the terms Boyfriend and Girlfriend wouldn’t exist until the 1910-20s but they did have

beau- male partner /boyfriend (pronounced bow)

belle- female partner /girlfriend

unfortunately there’s no gender neutral because uh pre modern era and all, but I think Partner or Courted would work

Other common pet names include: angel, baby, beloved, darling, dear, dearest, honey, heart, love, lover, precious, sweetheart, treasure
