If Ashfur had lived, and wasn't evil incel, would you have given him kits in this rewrite? I noticed in the petty!Ashfur has kits ask you mentioned something about it.
If I happened to go with a rewrite version that fully leaned into Villain Thornclaw taking over the Fire Scene as well as being the Imposter of TBC (which would go more into a Wish Fulfillment Rewrite than a Redux like what I'm doing), then Ashfur probably wouldn't get kits.
Ashfur would probably be a sort of 'red herring' type, set up to be a villain... but he's still the same sad guy who lost his mom in TPB. He would never kill a clanmate, let alone his apprentice.
The Fire Scene would go like it LOOKS like he's going to do something awful, but then reaches into the flames to try and pull the Three out with Squilf. He HATES her for dumping him but, not murderously. Then, when they look safe, that's when Thornclaw leaps out of the embers and reveals himself as the real villain.
And Thornclaw WOULD kill someone. He's too competent, too serious, not to.
So, anyway, Ashfur wouldn't get kits. He never really moves on from Squilf. He'd just be a sad, jealous, petty guy who likes to gossip and says mean shit. A misanthrope.

I’d just like to say that you and your comics about Lionblaze have made me care for him and his character more than canon ever could dream to, thank you. I never actually gave him much thought before and saw him as annoying, but now I’ve seen the possible potential he could have as a character because the booms just screwed up his personality, and I love seeing your Lionblaze content. I especially love seeing him as a med cat and him getting closer with Leafpool
Your comment means so much to me,,, I am so happy I helped you appreciate the Lionblaze,,,,
Canon did him so dirty by wasting his potential making him ''standard warrior main character''
The canon will give pieces of his personality, but all these pieces are so incredibly under-exploited and incomplete
As an example, him having moral OCD in PoT is genuinely a really good idea knowing the extent of his power, but they just throw this plotline under the rug in the next book (knowing that it's very hard to get rid of OCD lol) Like we see him losing it in the mountains, we see him going ballistic on Crowfeather and Heathertail. Lionblaze knows how dangerous he can be if he isn't always holding back in battle, and it scares him so bad he has vivid nightmares about killing his loved ones. I think it's the first real time in Warriors we had a main character who had the full potential of becoming a villain the moment he stops holding back. Like that's genuinely really good storytelling, and they just??? throw it away in the next book like it never happened????
This dude kills Russetfur, which should have been his worst nightmare becoming reality. That's it, he finally killed someone. Because for just a few seconds, he got so worried about his leader being attacked and probably killed that he stopped holding back. And yet this is less of a plot point than the obviously accidental death of Flametail. Like Jayfeather tries to save a cat who is drowning and is called a murderer during a Gathering, but Lionblaze who kills Russetfur in front of at least 20 cats, that's fine he was just being silly. Like the writers were writing Lionblaze like crap on purpose at this point they had completely given up on him lmfao
We also see his compassionate and empathetic side shine a few times, mostly when he is the one who forgives Squilf and Leafpool the easiest and the fastest. Lionblaze idolizes Brambleclaw and shows a genuine affection for his dad several times and it's genuinely wholesome. Lionblaze has a few really sweet moments with Leafpool and Squilf in OotS :) i cherish these scenes so much.......
He isn't perfect of course, far from it, he can be a douche (mainly to Heathertail, Breezepelt and Dovewing), he is hot-headed and doesn't think before he speaks or acts, he struggles to communicate properly, he often has a weird tunnel-vision in OotS and doesn't listen to Dovepaw's problems with the care it deserves. For most of PoT, despite going through some tough training as an apprentice and later as a newly made warrior, he is almost completely oblivious to the fact that his own mentor Ashfur as a personal beef with him. As someone with the autism rizz, Lionblaze's communication skills are just so autistic to me. This dude has almost no friends, even his ex-apprentice Dovewing isn't on very friendly terms with him (understandable because he was a bad mentor tbh), he feels safe only around his close family, and messes up almost every friendship and relationship he has because he is incapable of communicating properly. Him trying to date Cinderheart was just Lionblaze being absolutely incapable of understanding her point of view, and then proceeding to literally self harm by letting a ShadowClan massacre him to show Cinderpelt he could be harmed on his own will ?? Like what goes on in the Lionblaze's head ?? is he ok ???
Also they could have made him a medicine cat.... I yearn for the Lionblaze medicine cat plotline so much...... Lionblaze being so incredibly scared of hurting anyone again after his nightmares, or after killing Russetfur, that he just drops all the warrior duties and hides in Leafpool's den all day...... also Jayfeather could have been a warrior 100%, we clearly see him fight very well when he is in tandem with one of his siblings, he is capable of running on ThunderClan territory with no issues once he learned the layout, like there's so excuse anymore StarClan just wanted to ruin his life for entertainment
anyway
They could have done do much more with the Lionblaze.......

God the new ultimate guide sucks
It's not JUST the awful art, either. The art's just worth mentioning because even if the book's info had been terrible or contained nothing new, really cute art can make it still worth having.
But, no, it's even full of recycled lines we've been hearing for years like "Bramblestar Can Match Squirrelflight's Fire Not Contain It," and that's when it DOES get everything right. These entries leave out major, important details (making them bad summaries) and are sometimes even straight-up incorrect.
SUMMARY THOUGHTS
Leafpool is said to have watched Brambleclaw kill Hawkfrost to save Firestar-- but for one, no, she was not there because Ashfur was still leading her and Squilf towards the scene. For two, no, Brambleclaw did not kill Hawkfrost just to save Firestar, it was self-defense. Hawkfrost had him pinned and was going to kill him.
They're REAL cute about Leafpool's death, too, neglecting to mention WHY the Sisters needed to be saved at all and just saying Leafpool's "generosity" lead to her death in that cave-in.
I'm not even going to get into everything on Bramble's entry jesus christ.
Sagewhisker's entry is ESPECIALLY fucken' dandy, framing Yellowfang's Secret like she was simply waiting patiently for Yellow to realize her 'destiny' and not actively shoving it on her at every opportunity.
Leopardstar's entry states that romantic interest in Tigerstar was part of her motivation. "Perhaps she'd hoped he would be her mate" please speak to a woman irl for once in your life.
Gray Wing's entry forgot that the reason he "blamed himself" for Bright Stream's death is because he was literally staring at his big strong brother too much and tripped on a root in front of him. It IS his fault she died.
Clear Sky/Skystar's entry is just obscene. "He regretted abandoning his son and after a fire, he encouraged him to live with him" instead of "saw his teenage child was useful now and bullied and belittled the kid and his uncle into letting Thunder come with him." "Retaining his fierceness towards his cats and outsiders which caused his son to leave" instead of "murdering, brutalizing, and abusing everyone around him caused Thunder to leave." I'll just say this tho; "Fierce" is an interesting way to spell "Cruel."
It's interesting that they don't point out that a major part of Jagged Peak's arc was proving he was "Just As Good" as every other cat in spite of his disability, thanks to his introduced-and-pregnant-in-the-same-book wife becoming his life coach, only earning Clear Sky's respect after being allowed to physically lead a patrol in Blazing Star. Instead they frame him finding his place through taking care of kits, which... was something he seemed to resent in the actual series, considering how the books suddenly treat Gray Wing's protective treatment of him as a terrible thing in Blazing Star because he "didn't give him a chance". But at the same time I actually strongly dislike Jagged Peak and his messy, frustrating character arc so I'm not really UPSET with it. Just... noting it. I suppose this is the official direction they're taking away from it?
Shadowstar's entry is barely even 3 paragraphs yikes.
SHORT STORY THOUGHTS
And if you're wondering if the 4 brand new stories they smooshed into the end in a desperate attempt to make the rush job worth buying are good? No. Of course not. They're all slop.
Story 1: Firestar and Graystripe
First one's a marginally cute story about Graystripe and Firestar which is setting up the framing device linking the mini-tales together. They both remember this situation where Firestar fell into a ditch wrong. The punchline is that Thunderstar remembers it perfectly and they're both like, "WOW! Too bad Thunderstar's memory sucks!"
It's not terrible, but it does feel a bit pointless. But, hey, if you want more Firestar and Graystripe in the series that tosses them fanservice at every turn, who am I to judge?
Story 2: Dovewing and Ivypool
The next one is the Dovewing/Ivypool reconciliation passage everyone's talking about. It's... fine, but immensely dissatisfying to me.
Dovewing is apparently having problems adjusting to her Clan, grapples a little bit with the fact she has no friends but is going to be finding meaning in helping tigerHeartstar "bring the new ShadowClan into existence." She ultimately decides that she needs to talk to her sister, and begs for reassurance that Ivypool believes in her, feeling that her support can help her get through this difficult time in her life.
I think its biggest problem is that Dovewing was not the right choice for the POV here.
Dove was never the one responsible for the rift in their relationship. Ivypool is. Ivypool is the one who was jealous, willing to sabotage anything that would put Dovewing closer to Tigerheart, and continues to be generally aggressive towards her. So when Dovewing is reaching out to Ivypool in hopes of them reconciling, it feels wrong because Ivypool is the one that should be reaching out to Dovewing. SHE is the one who has some things to apologize for, and to show how much she loves and misses her.
It's even kind of frustrating, because Dovewing can never catch a break. She has to have these problems to force her to reach out, Ivypool even ends up suggesting that she leave and come home and take her kids with her, but in the end even a LITTLE bit of assurance from her aggressive sister helps.
I feel super bad for Dovewing, man. She deserves better than this cheap writing. What was the point of such an unsatisfying, rushed reconciliation, shoved into a crummy field guide, when we KNOW from the newest book that they're just going to use tension between them as part of the drama anyway?
shouldn't have even been written, imo. Even ends off with, "They'll always have each other :)" which is so... cliche. It's TIRED. Are any of you really happy with just getting a retconned platitude in a good-for-nothing field guide, instead of seeing complicated, INTERESTING feelings in a main book?
Story 3: Alderheart and Twigbranch
A tale of Cherryfall getting sick during TBC and Alderheart sneaks back into the territory to treat her. Also Crowfeather has a scene where he yells at him. Charming.
Twigbranch comes up with a diversion while Alderheart does his work, which is cute. It's a fine story.
Story 4: Clear Sky
Trash. Three dogs spawn in the middle of a gathering so that Skystar can have an uwu big boy sendoff saving his grandkit. Then he goes to StarClan and throws a fit because they can't give him ANOTHER life, becoming so upset that he attacks the nearest woman. Naturally, Shadowstar brushes it off because it's not the first time Clear Sky has pummeled her in the midst of an adult tantrum and this book series thinks violence is fine if their favorite sadboy does it.
Then Gray Wing brings him to the magic mirror pool where you can see the living, to confirm that Star Flower is ok and that makes him feel better.
Then it launches into Firestar saying "ouuuugh yum I LOVE the taste of his butthole. Clear Sky is so misunderstood, He Just Loved Too Much."
to which Graystripe responds, "Yes, he was a good and amazing person and his farts smells SO good, and can you believe that some people think StarClan punished his Clan for his arrogance? As if he ever did anything wrong, ever?"
Firestar, indignant, refutes it with, "Ugh!! StarClan would NEVER be interesting, we don't punish living cats we just float around and make vague, frustrating prophecies that do nothing but pad the word count. Why cant ppl understand that, gosh."
who wrote this? Gray Wing??

Which leaders that we've seen the clans have over the years have you enjoyed reading/seeing/serve the story well and which leaders have been a pain for you to get through whenever they show up/speak?
arc 1 has the strongest leaders because they all play a role in what story the authors are trying to tell. it's not just throwing a dart at whoever is gonna be the big bad, it's actually planned how and who will take over and when and why. so bluestar, tallstar, crookedstar, brokenstar, nightstar, arc 1 leopardstar, and tigerstar....mwah, beautiful, all very engaging. thank you for your service.
bluestar in particular is a standout, her early leadership style acts as one that guides firestar. she's the oddball of the warriors leaders, with such an intense value for life that she'll take in child soldier war criminal mcgee brokenstar! i like her, she's interesting and i always enjoyed her interactions with fireheart :)
firestar doesn't get there because i think he suffers from the authors not killing him off soon enough. he suffers from the bramblestar dilemma: good plots can't work with good leaders. but the authors simultaneously want the drama but don't want to portray their baby boys as bad leaders. it's not as egregious with firestar but it's enough to make me go eeeehhh you should've had your time cut short. bramblestar especially is painful for this, he makes continuous bad, awful, and cruel decisions that never really get fully reflected back onto him. separates children, lets a cat bleed out, gets aggressive to the point squilf thinks he might attack leafpool...like this dude sucks.
tnp onwards is.....eh. it's where the randomly picking a leader problem gets worse and worse while characters like leopardstar and blackstar never really get the treatment they deserve for their prior behave, you know?
tigerheartstar has been my fave. i like that he causes problems, he's fun to read and he keeps the plot moving! his leaps of logic and the fact he DOES SOMETHING is a nice change of pace compared to the new team's writing style. i like him.
but lately? harestar, leafstar, and (used to be) mistystar have been painful. leafstar especially, beyond bizarre how cruel they're willing to make her and not expect me to dislike her. squirrelflight's hope soured my opinion of everyone ngl.

for halloween I introduce a mapleshade and spottedleaf au I had in my head for a while :)
basically spottedleaf dies as normal, and after she does maple finds her and sees it as another way to take revenge on thunderclan, and convinces her that Fireheart/paw whatever he was at the time let her die purposely and convinces her to take revenge on him, especially after he chooses Sandstorm as a mate. Basically spotted tries to act like his spirit guide still and still act good and not evil, but secretly convinces sandstorm that firestar loves her and not sand bc she constantly visiting him and stuff if that makes sense...and basically sand ends up breaking up with him over it
but before they broke up sand was already pregnant and had squilf and leaf eventually, and bc of what happened, his daughters never became too close to him, especially squilf, leaf kinda had to get over it since she his med cat, but squilf always held resentment. eventually spotted convinces leaf to run away with crow and that whole thing happens same as it does..
however since she knew the three had powers her and maple started secretly training them. as time went on jay realized they were being manipulated and told lion and holly, but holly was so caught up in being the best med cat she could be, she didn't believe jay and continued to train
eventually the fire thing happened and spotted actually told holly leaf was her mom and made up lies about how she hated her and hated that she was her apprentice and all that, and eventually convinced holly to kill leaf in revenge, and she tried but due to the sister psychic link thing squilf came and tried to save her, but she was too late, and in the process also ended up killing Holly in an attempt to save her sister, but in the end they both ended up dead
squilf was accused of killing them both and due to pressure from the clan firestar was forced to exile his daughter, she pleaded, attempting to fix the relationship they never got to have, and he desperately wanted to, but he couldn't and had to kick her out
meanwhile, in starclan leaf realized what spotted had been doing and tried to warn all the other starclan cats, but none believed her since spotted was such a well respected starclan warrior. the only one who seemed to listen was crookedstar, and eventually they realized together mapleshade was in on this as well
they formed a plan together to bring maples kits to her in an attempt to change her mind, and during the great battle they bring the kits out to maple while the kits tried to convince her to stop all this. maple was starting to listen to them, finally starting to find some kind of closure in her anger, when spotted saw and stepped in
she tried to convince maple not to listen to them but she wouldn't, so spotted attempted to kill the kits, which made maple angry
the two started fighting, maple almost winning and who easily could have killed her but hesitated, through all of this they had formed a close relationship despite everything, and she couldn't bring herself to hurt her, but that was her mistake, for spotted didn't hesitate and ended up killing her
she hadn't realized what she had done until it was too late, she had killed the one cat closest to her, and while she was in shock, sandstorm has been watching and realized what had been happening all along, killed spottedleaf, ending their reign once and for all

So would DM!Squirrelflight kick cannon!Bramblestar's ass? Or would she like him? Like if she knew everything he'd done, from training in hell with his dad and then debating and watching her dad suffer and die to denouncing the 3 as their kits (when it was thought Cannon Squirrelflight was infertile.) To him forcing Alder to become a medicine cat, what would she do? Especially how he got Leafpool killed? I know DM!Leaf and Squirrel don't have a relationship at all, but cannon Leaf and Squirrel do, so DM!Squirrel might see it as a what if.
Well dm! Leaf and Squirrel have always had a relationship, it was just always negative until I changed it recently to make more character and narrative sense. Dm! Leaf and Squirrel were as close as they were in canon until Leaf is captured by twolegs, sees the world, questions the clan's practices, and rejoins the clans. When she can't stand it anymore, she turns to her sister, tells her what she's seen, tries to make her understand.
To put it simply, hearing and experiencing are two different things and Squilf is not swayed. Their relationship only gets tenser from there. When Leaf eventually leaves, something snaps and Squilf is just so betrayed, so hurt, so angry. Her theft of Leaf's kits does several things. For one thing it disowns Leaf as her family and as a clan cat. Another thing is it's punushment, and also it's a way to take a piece of her sister through her kits. Last and least it's for the proposal.
Anyway dm!Squilf doesn't like dm!Brambleclaw, but she doesn't dislike him. She likes to mess with him like in canon, only it's a lot more mean spirited, and only gets worse the older she gets. Bramble is sort of part of the fire fam. Like in the way a bastard orphaned son is, but still.
Firstly she'd be disgusted that canon Bramble would be mates with her as he's the equivalent of her brother in DM. Secondly, I think she'd be shocked that he managed such a high position at all. Thirdly, she would hate him with her whole heart. The meeting Tigerstar, the fox trap, the abuse, the disownment. That's familial betrayal x4. Bramble causing Leaf's death...oooof. Squilf would actually kill him. She may be furious with Leaf but she'll be damned if she lets Bramble hurt her

now that its the 4th i can finally talk about shadow!! yahoo!!! SHADOW SPOILERS BELOW . ASC SHADOW . IF U DON'T WANT SPOILERS DON'T OPEN THE CUT!!!! SPOILERS BELOW!! LIKE. SO MANY SPOILERS. FOR THE WHOLE ENTIRE BOOK. PLEASE BEWARE
ok so that book was surprisingly? not that bad. the BIGGEST thing that happened was BRAMBLESTAR RETIRED!!! SQUILF IS GOING TO BECOME LEADER!!!! (unless something bad happens) and i am SO PUMPED FOR IT!!! FINALLY STUPID IDIOT BRAMBLESTAR IS GONNEEE i still skimmed over nightheart chapter this arc and tbh? he didnt really do that much. talked to sunbeam. talked to berryheart. talked to bramblestar and sparkpelt. did some tasks. FAILED HIS TASKS ON PURPOSE TO LEAVE SUNBEAM BEHIND AND GO BACK TO THUNDERCLAN WHAAAT??? honestly i dont think they shouldve let him back in but whatever AND NOW SUNBEAMS GOING TO THUNDERCLAN TO BE WITH HIM. babygirl just leave him please
sunbeam also didnt do a crazy amount of things it was mostly just interacting with nightheart but there was one thing i wanted to talk about! in one of the chapter (I dont remember which one) she had a dream about nightheart WITH ANOTHER CHICK?? she was described as a silver tabby with blue eyes and i tried to see if that was a cat but the only ones that are even CLOSE are flowerstem from shadowclan and shimmerpelt from riverclan, who are both described as silver mollies. IK it was proooobably just a dream but . what if its more of a vision. what if that actually ends up happening. very interesting....
berryheart still kinda sucked BUT ALSO. she is schemeing with RIVERCLAN to get tigerstar out!!! whaaat!!! specifically splashtail! WHO'S CLOSE TO FROSTPAW!!! i was actually pretty shocked lol! duskfur and mallownose (i think thats their name?) were also there
on the topic of riverclan reedwhiskers death was CONFIRMED. to be a murder. BY SOMEONE HE WAS PROBABLY CLOSE TO. WHAAAT??? I was so shocked! And intrigued! I'm SO excited to figure out who that was. he also said to frostpaw 'there is a darkness in riverclan' which is VERY interesting. also frostpaw has a crush on splashtail and its literally killing me babygirl thats your cousin. ough. also i think splashtail might be evil. i hope hes evil. that would be very interesting
ok time to talk abotu FROSTPAW!!!!!! little. tiny. i love her. she was so interesting this book. BIGGEST thing about her is SHE'S NOT A HEALER ANYMORE! she decided to become a warrior apprentice again because of her (supposedly) fake visions! splashtails been trying to convince her to become a healer again but it is NOt working LOL. though the odd thing is, now she's having REAK visions! she had the vision about reedwhisker where she was in the attackers body who attacked him and then threw him over the ravine. BUT!! cuz she's not a med cat anymore, she only told this to splashtail and.,... and.... she's going to tell whistlepaw too!!!! that means... WINDCLAN CONTENT!!!!!!!! im so excited! BUT. she didn't get to windclan! before she could make it, someone ATTACKED HER! it wasn't shown who it was or if it was riverclan or windclan or someone else but EEK!!! please be okay frostpaw. please. aaaaanyway, i thought this book was pretty good, surprisingly! frostpaw is still my number one fav :3 also i love owlnose & splashtail. i love alot of riverclan. icewing, shimmerpelt.... such cool characters!!! also lightleap and blazefire are cute

this fandom praises the most boring and/or awful toms for the worst reasons. no, fartwhisker the 2nd is not a "complex and interesting character" just because he did a good thing one (1) time
tree - he's interesting, in his own way, but that's about all he's got going for him. i dislike his entire thing with violetshine (violetzelda otp) and generally hate his whole selfish disregard for the sisters during squilf's hope, and his refusal to seek them out in tbc. i think he's a good father though, i just... don't like anything about him outside of that.
alderheart - boring as all get out. he's what you'd get if you took leafpool, made her a tom, and stripped her of all her individuality. also... sparkpelt should've gotten his arc. it's just the truth
fernsong - ohhhh i HATE this guy... he pressures ivypool into having his kits claiming that *he'll* raise them in the nursery... only to not follow through. he doesn't even hardly interact with his kits at all, leaving that to ivypool... i want to throw him off a cliff
rootspring - no personality, whines about how he's "so different and special", weirdly pushy when bristlefrost turns him down multiple times, doesn't take 'no' for an answer, and essentially overtakes bristlefrost's chapters midway through tbc out of *nowhere*, where suddenly she reciprocates his feelings apparently???? rootspring sucks, hate to say it! (i actually prefer nightheart to him. nightheart is more selfish and disagreeable, but he has his rare good moments too - specifically in thunder w/ frostpaw, i enjoyed their friendship. i hate nightsun though, whyyyyy cant those two just be friends)
thrushpelt - he's a nice character, and i do enjoy him for what he is, but his popularity is... confusing to me to say the least. he's kinda just generic, i guess, and i feel he gets *way* too much praise for it (similar to brackenfur, oakheart, or poppyfrost in that way)
100% I completely agree, the male characters do the bare minimum and they're praised for it and made out to be this great and complex character
Tree: His entire concept is interesting but it's all fumbled so fucking bad, I gotta find the post but I saw something that talked about how Tree felt like he was made to overshadow TwigBranch and I couldn't agree more. I hate his dumb fucking "What if MEN were OPPRESSED and WOMEN were SUPERIOR" backstory thing with the Sisters. And the thing is that the Sisters are a cool concept but they try and demonize them so bad, they're interesting in concept but in execution it's awful. I hope Tree dies actually
AlderHeart: It should have been SparkPelt, that's all I'm saying. Everything about his character should have been given to SparkPelt, I agree. Also nowadays to me, he doesn't really read as having anxiety. SMUDGE reads as having anxiety more and he's a background Kittypet.
FernSong: Let's execute him.
RootSpring: Kinda like Tree in that his concept is neat but execution sucks ass. "Waaah waah I'm ostracized for my ghost-seeing powers in a society that knows that ghosts are real and worships them, woe is me :(" I'll kill you. He should have died alongside BristleFrost and ShadowSight
ThrushPelt: I do like his nice connection with BlueStar but beyond that he's pretty alright. I don't hate him he's 100% a character that I'm pleasantly reminded of from time to time

Making this an official AU question for you:
What would happen if Squirrelflight ends up pregnant while Leafpool is still pregnant? About 2-3 weeks afterwards, so there's quite a desynch to when they would expect to give birth.
OK so Leafpool and Squirrelflight start their journey, both are pregnant, Leafpool gives birth to JayLionHolly, and Squirrelflight to SparkAlderDandelionJuniper.
Dandelion and Juniper die. They were the weakest and it’s cold out there, granted. But also, neither Leafpool nor Squirrelflight are at their best so hunting is difficult, and Leafpool isn’t the best hunter out there either.
I mean I’m barring the possibility that they just all die out there and Whitewing ends up with three kits who are the Three.
So anyway, Dandelion and Juniper died. They come back to the clans with five kits and everyone’s like “wow it’s the biggest litter we’ve seen yet!”.
Since Squirrelflight has milk, she nurses them all. It means Jayfeather won’t find out about their biological parents the same way, if at all. Brambleclaw is extatic to have five kits of his own. THey all play pretend fight with him and everything, all is going well.
During the scene of the fire, all six (Squilf and the Five) are there when Ashfur arrives. Squirrelflight is like “those are not my kits.” and he lets them go and then she’s like “yeah no actually you are my kits it’s a bit complicated” when Alderheart asks her what she meant. no one understands what’s going on, but the five are convinced she was bluffing.
Ashfur lets the secret blow up at the Gathering, accusing Squirrelflight of having taken in the kits of Leafpool and Crowfeather (because who else would Squirrelflight do this for but Leafpool, and who else could Leafpool have had kits with?). Crowfeather is like “what”, Nightcloud and Breezepelt are like “WHAT”, Leafpool scoffs and says it’s ridiculous and she didn’t expect him to muddy the waters like that what did she do to him to warrant such a stupid accusation?
The Five are like “yeah that’s stupid we’re so obviously Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight’s kits!”, and Squirrelflight accuses him in front of everybody to not be over her when she’s been with her mate for half a dozen seasons already (which is true). Ashfur is taken back to apprentice for trying to cause a scandal at the gathering.
Out of the five, Three only are the Chosen Ones, and it just so happen that it’s Sparkpelt, Jayfeather and Lionblaze. Sparkpelt has intense senses, but she’s an overachiever: she’s not going to get the same problems as Dovewing. She’s going to master her senses quite quickly.
When the Beavers arrive, she is part of the patrol with Lionblaze. She doesn’t fall in love with Tigerheart because she’s impulsive but she’s got her head screwed on the right way.
No Hollyleaf in the Tunnels mean that Blossomfall and Ivypool die in the tunnels and that Molepaw and Cherrypaw are killed by that one fox. (although if it was proved that this fox was the one Hollyleaf saved in the tunnels it would be different).
Mousefur, Ferncloud, Sorreltail and Hollyleaf die in the Great Battle. With those plus the ones who died before it’s starting to be a lot of losses for Thunderclan. (plus Seedpaw and all during the great storm etc) so Bramblestar refuses to let anyone leave the clan for an apprentice’s vision. Particularly a warrior apprentice (eh, with Jaypaw as an apprentice medicine cat they were not going to have two medicine cat apprentices at the same time)
Twig and Violet starve, Skyclan dies out. No Darktail around the lake. Rowanstar tames his unruly apprentices then dies and Tawnystar ascends, with a Tigerheart who never left his clan and never mated with a thunderclan she-cat as her deputy. Needletail is still alive and was named Needlepelt (she chose her own warrior name in the Kin). Juniperclaw is named Juniperstem, etc etc. All those who chose their warrior names in the kin have new names. I don’t like their names.
Anyway after that canon basically knits itself back together. No Skyclan means no meeting the Sisters, Leafpool doesn’t die too soon. No Leafpool dying means no Moonpool freezing, according to some theories. So no Bramblefake, and since I have barely finished Lost Stars I’m going to stop here.
Although the clans probably die out one after the other because of the new poisonous plant the Sisters knew the remedy for but that’s a whole other sack of wet mice.

While thinking about anthro and deep southern Mothwing I had the idea of a anthro timeline like warrior cats so here it is lol
Sasha is new in town and raised highly Christian (in the serve your husband and don’t speak out kind of way it really fucked her up) so when she meets a seemingly kind man who goes by the name of Tiger she kinda immediately falls in love. She grew up on those fantasy fall in love at first sight and always wanting that. And now getting the littlest kindness from a stranger, it was like it was meant to be in her mind.
She follows him everywhere slowly becoming more trapped in his life. Even willing to join his own group. But just as she’s about to pledge her faith to them she learns of his true nature and what their cult really is. With the help of Ray (Russetfur) she escapes. But she’s already been pregnant and now just a few months off giving birth. She ends up having Sienna (Moth), Sycamore (Hawk) and Simon (Tadpole) by herself and barley survives being unable to do anything for a long time. While very young her kits try to help her out by getting some food by themselves, attempting to hook something off that old bridge nearby. But while trying to throw the first line Simon slipped and fell in, Sycamore dived in after and Sienna swam in just behind him. All three had to be saved by a person nearby who noticed the frantic splashing but sadly Simon had swallowed too much water and drowned.
Both Sienna and Sycamore were very sick but even more so depressed. Sienna plagued by survivors guilt and Sycamore by misdirected anger at how hard their life was. Not being able to deal with it Sasha gave them up to lady who saved them, a strong woman named Lakelyn (Leopardstar) or Lake as the kids called her.
They grew up in that same cult their mother had run from. Sycamore falling into the same violent side as their father had and Sienna begging to escape the cycle. She made friends with many. Especially kind Lily (Leafpool) and her sister Sally (Squilf). Until that day at the lake. Just like before she was too late, as she walked along the once beautiful beach she saw her final brother there dead, a spike through his throat. Dying as he drowned on his own blood. She had so much she was supposed to be more powerful and yet everyone still died. Over and over again.
While clerics weren’t usually allowed to wear any weapons or shield their head she did both. Keeping her brother’s knife at her hip and their bandannas over her head. If the stars above wanted so badly to drown her like they did everyone else then she wasn’t going to make it easy. She wasn’t going to blindly follow their word or even let them see her. She was done with them.
Besides the actual story of it in this the different clans are different small towns separated by their natural terrain. Riverclan is based on more marshy wetlands and called River Roots, Thunderclan is a sunny forest called Thunder Oaks, Shadowclan is a dark pine forest called Shaded Pines, and Windclan is a big open field called Windy Grasses.
Clerics are more so priests who dedicate their whole life to caring and understanding the stars. Or kinda like nuns. They aren’t to fight or draw blood so keeping a knife let alone Sycamores knife is a huge deal. Even more so that she shields her head from the stars. She also knows he was murdered obviously and HATES Bruce (Bramble) bc she knows he killed her brother.
Her and Lily are secret lesbians I decree it. Only visiting on new moons so to be out of the stars gaze. Sienna also helps Lily not only hide her pregnancy but also give birth taking the spot of Yellowfang in Leafpool’s Wish. The three would be named Raury (Lionblaze), Jay, and Brandy (Hollyleaf). Brandy and Bailey (Breezepelt) are also much closer in this I just think they should be.

It kinda boggles my mind how everyone in the fandom calls the writing misogynistic while the writers are all women-- like I get it, plenty of women are misogynistic, but my mind is still absolutely fucking boggled by how widely accepted it is in the fandom. It is like you say Erin Hunter and in the very next breath the word misogynist is there.
There are so many shitty rude stupid ass male characters (in the newest book!!! Sky!!!) and frankly the only female characters that looked overtly bad were Nightheart's two family members (who are just.... generic cats? I get they had some personality in other books but they're ultimately background characters; at least they're providing a conflict??? Which is needed??? In a story?????) and then of course Uhhh-- Berryheart yeah, Sunbeam's radicalized mother. Who gives me the vibes of a sort of female right wing extremist, of whom there are plenty and can deserve to be mocked a bit.
Squilf was actually shown to be super competent in stepping up in the wake of Bramblestar's depressive episode, who was made into a joke (yay!), and I think her butting heads with Nightheart was entertaining. She acknowledges his youth and is hard on him about it, but it's reasonable too-- of course he's given apprentice tasks, there are no apprentices. How is it fair for others warriors to get extra bedding duty? And of course he shouldn't have gone into ShadowClan territory-- he got lucky that it was Lightleap's boyfriend!! The books make you sympathize with Nightheart as his POV, but I never found Squilf to be disrespected or unreasonable, just hated by him. Maybe I am just a weirdo though! I drink respecting Squilf juice.
I would like less romance plots though. The lack of gay representation in the series is getting so damn distracting! I am too much of a lesbian to understand Frostpaw wanting to stop being a medicine cat and settle down with Splashtail who I barely even fucking know in the span of a few minutes-- Sunbeam rejecting Nightheart would've been interesting, but she's also falling for him, it seems. If Frostpaw really does quit to get with Splashtail I am going to be so disoriented, I CANNOT be reading three het POVs again. I am not strong enough. (I do think Frostpaw finding her resolve to quit after Owlnose did was interesting, though. I cannot blame her for quitting considering the stress she's under. But for the love of god PLEASE STAY)
Anyway in the end I kind of pity the writers who are forced to make up new stories and keep things fresh. Like how do they do anything without it being somehow wrong-- like oops, we wanted to pair these two characters, but it turns out they share a great grandma! At this point we need to kill everyone and start over unless fans of background character #12 get upset that they're ooc because of this one specific line they had in a novella I didn't read. And let's not forget killing a disabled cat being bad despite characters constantly getting culled for no reason. (I would REALLY like some fresh disabled blood though-- like, can we get some more cats losing eyesight and legs here??? It would make the incredibly generic background characters SO much more interesting, God. Like who the fuck is Sneezecloud?? I would respect Sneezecloud more if he was chronically ill but he is just a generic cat named Sneezecloud, OK.)
Anyway this is so badly written I don't even have a point here but this is called warriors confessions and dammit I am going to confess.

did you already start planning squirrelstar's leader ceremony and if so who's giving her the 9 lives?
I'm still a bit concerned that the writers will pull something with her 9 lives, but I've got so many good choices for BB!Squilf that it's not an issue to start considering who's gonna turn up for her.
Plus, honestly, NOT totally interested in abiding by canon if they commit the dumbshit we're suspecting they might. Pre-emptively biting and killing it.
Here's the list of candidates so far. Everyone with a * is a definite yes;
Goldenflower Her mentor in BB, replacing Dustpelt! After everything Squilf has gone through with Bramblestar, and after Golfy took her son's side after the big reveal, it feels good for her to show up with a life for Judgement. To decide when to listen to her heart, but also, when to realize when it is leading her astray.
Sandstorm Mother choice is a solid one, though I'm leaning towards giving this life to Ferncloud for variety. Squilf's got 5 immediate relatives here to give her a life.
Hollylark* Her grandkit, and Sparkpelt's mate who sacrificed xeir life to take her illness away. Xey'd give her a life for Interdependence, for all of the connections that bind a Clan together. Love, friendship, convenience, family. Squilf is familiar with sacrifice in service of it... but it's more than that. To love is to BE loved-- she must accept reciprocity. And... xey'd make some kind of loaded comment about Nightheart, knowing that neither one of them want to talk badly about him. I might end up changing xeir life to something like "letting go," as foreshadowing for how I'm absolutely planning for Nightheart to NOT return to ThunderClan after his road trip with Frostpaw. BUT I don't decide arcs until they're done so we'll have to seeeeee
Firestar* Basically required. Squirrelstar is his daughter, the successor of his ideology, and the follow-up to a leader that Firestar considers a mistake. His chats at these sorts of ceremonies often get wistful, so I feel like they'd talk about second chances, wanting people to be better than they are, how to fix things that are broken and when they aren't worth the effort. He says it explicitly, "You're just like me. A spark of my flames, burning bright, long after I've become starlight..." His life would be for Progress. To continue to evolve and grow, to never be so stuck in the past that she can't see the future, to know when things can be fixed and when they must be broken.
Rosepetal I want to save her on one hand, but on the other, having her go out in a blaze of glory at some point in ASC or TBC is a good reason why Squilf didn't make her deputy. Rose was her first apprentice and has always been a dedicated, passionate warrior who would deeply want that spot. If she's here for the 9 lives ceremony, she'd give Squilf a life for Ferocity. "Give them twice the Hell you always do, so that it's like I'm right there next to you."
Shrewface* (Shrewpaw in life.) Her guardian angel. He helped her hide the secret of Leafpool's pregnancy, and has always stood over her, providing help secretly. Now he can finally stand before her and give her a life. He would actually stumble and chuckle, because he's wanted to do it for so long he's blanking on the life he wants to give her. On one paw, Squilf is a little annoyed. It's a super serious leader ceremony, holy moment in her life, but on the other... Shrewface is so HAPPY! His joy is infectious. He's standing before her as the adult he would have been, but under that, she sees the funny teenage best friend that she lost so long ago. It feels almost like being a kid again. So she picks her own life by saying, "How about one for Joy?" And he says, "Hey that's a great idea!"
Rainwhisker A ThunderClan cat who died in the WindClan Civil War, and someone she remembers fondly. The life he gives is a life for Collateral. He has no shame in how he died, and he believes Firestar's call was the right one. But he needs to remind Squirrelflight that beliefs are backed with blood. Every time she brings her Clan into war, there is a chance that someone will die because of her choice. He restates that he believes his death was noble; but his life will remind her of the cost that someone else might pay.
Sootfur If it's not Rainwhisker, I'd like his brother Soot to be here. I think his death was haunting, with how Squilf couldn't save him, watching him tumble down a rockface because of his broken leg and being brutally murdered by what-is-now a boar. She's carried guilt from how she couldn't save him her whole life, so in contrast to Rainwhisker, his life is for Acceptance. To remember that not everything is her fault, and she could NEVER be so perfect as to avoid all of life's misfortunes. Even if others pin blame onto her for something she couldn't control; no leader is powerful enough to save everyone. Thinking about it though, I might really try to slot BOTH of these guys in. I think the contrast of the two back to back is powerful; that actions have consequences, but not every tragedy is a consequence.
Ferncloud She just died very recently, taking both Graystripe's super edition AND his sacrifice in the Dark Forest. Graystripe is still alive, living at the tribe with his son Stormfur. She confronted Ashfur for Squilf, so it feels right that she also comes to support her here. Ferncloud, for the first time in so many years, looks at peace. She isn't gray and grizzled anymore, but sleek and vibrant. Her family surrounds her, Dustpelt, Elderberry, Brindleface, her many lost kits. So, the life that she gives Squilf is for Faith. In StarClan that she will always have Clanmates in the skies to watch out for her, in her Clan that there will always be future angels fighting by her side.
Longtail Her uncle, and Jayfeather's mentor who trained him into the full angel-punching cat he became. During the big trial she has in Squirrelflight's Horror, Longtail was one of her loudest supporters, and eventually nudged her backwards so her son could grab her ankle and drag her back down to the mortal plane. He's always been her wonderful uncle, so, he might end up taking that life for Faith from Ferncloud. Just depending.
Feathertail* I want her to show up in the ceremonies of every patrol cat who achieves power, as a given. If we get Crowstar, I also want her to be there. I just think it's nice that if Crow, Bramble, and Squilf ever did end up able to chat about this together, in spite of the TANGIBLE awkwardness of the three of them being in the same room, they'd be able to make a joke about Feathertail Gives You A Life and it would land a little TOO hard, be a little TOO funny, because they were hoping that SOMETHING would lighten the air and it did. But anyway, this incredibly specific desire aside, Feathertail Gives You A doobie life for Tranquility. That the once-impulsive Squirrelstar will be able to slow down and consider every action, to take a deep breath in stressful times and think about what she's about to do. That as leader she will be under immense pressure, yeah, but also immense power. She can always afford to take a moment before making a big decision.
Leafpool* MANDATORY. There's NO reality where I do not end off this ceremony with Leafpool. When she steps up, they can't look at each other without crying. It overwhelms them, to the point where Squilf can't even choke out her sister's name. Leafpool, meanwhile, has gotten used to controlling her body while her heart breaks into billions of little pieces. She'd done it for her whole life, and now, she does it again in death. "this life is for love," she touches her night-cold nose to Squirrelstar's, and the new leader's vision begins to fade into black, "you know why." From the darkness, memories burst forth. Of them as kits, their silly games and dreams, how they planned to one day be the cleric and leader of ThunderClan together. The terrible loneliness of being separated while Squirrelpaw was on the Sundrown Patrol. The ache in Leafpool's heart whenever she saw her sister mistreated; how she gave up on relationships with Crowfeather and, to some extent, with Mothwing as well so she could serve her Clan and stay with her family. The three kits, the anxiety as Squirrelflight took them, the way it felt like Leafpool was being flayed to give them up. Parenting, loyalty, betrayal as Hollyleaf snapped and revealed the secret Squirrelflight desperately didn't want to keep, the guilt that Leafpool felt watching her suffer for helping her. The way they always felt like, on some level, it was them against the world.
And then she wakes up, back on the shore of the Moonpool, with her Clerics beside her. Leafpool is gone. StarClan is, once again, very far away, and she's left with nothing but the cold feeling on her nose and the looming specter of war ahead of her.
12 candidates in total, but only 9 can take the spot. So I'll trim it down once we get there!

Why does Lionpaw have Squirrelflight’s ears and markings if she’s not his actual mother, unless she is in this AU?
okay okay hold on let me get their designs rq, and no she’s not their bio mom, it’s still crowpool
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay!! the most notable traits are that their paws all have coloring, but their left (right?? i’m bad with directions) paw is white (or a significantly lighter color), their floppy ears with the splotching on the tip, and their white/cream tipped tail. and their back and tail ig but i do that design feature with too many cats for it to count
OKAY so these designs were originally made for an animatic (hence the notes) that then turned into the crush au (i’ll put its tag down here in case you want to see it) in which lionpaw sort of kind of almost kills ashfur and thinks he did for a long while. the parallels between him and squilf were important to me because i thought it was cool that the one to almost kill ashfur for what he did to squirrelflight was the kit that looked the most like her. plus i love floppy eared lionpaw
as for why they have these traits, they actually come from princess, firestar’s sister, hence why leafpool was able to pass those traits down to the three. also, i wanted to drive in how the three really are squirrelflight’s kits, because she was the one to raise them. leafpool, on the other hand, has the most similarities to hollypaw, and crowfeather with jaypaw. idk i thought that was cool.

ppl who HATE hate yellowfang simply do not get it
#ok i’m giving the erins too much credit here but i’m coming at this from a pov that takes these books seriously#her actions in starclan were bad. they were also deeply informed by the fact that she was a victim of abuse and those things never#truly left her#she should not have vouched for ashfur or let him into sc. consider that she stayed with raggedstar and believed he had good in him despite#the way he treated her.#‘his only fault was he loved too much’ always said WAY more abt yellowfang than it did ashfur#consider how hectic a warriors’ life is. she never had the chance to reconcile these things and they haunt her beyond the grave. bro.#i do not LIKE starclan yellowfang but i don’t think the way she acts is out of nowhere either.#wc#she was awful and manipulative to squirrelflight abt the three and her ability to bear children. wait holy shit i just realized the parallel#of lizardstripe taking care of brokenkit and how THAT turned out. medicine cats giving their kits to someone else.. ok what WAS she thinking#and she knew lizard was not a good caretaker so why push for a similar situation???#but also she sees firestar in squilf and probably trusts her to do the right thing. and her hangups abt leafpool are 100% projection#actually that makes a lot of sense. that yellow projects her issues onto leaf.#oh my god she DIED in a fire#the parallels of holly trying to get leaf to eat deathberries and that being how yellow killed her son...#daughter to mother mother to son.#idk. starclan yellowfang is not good but she is certainly very troubled.#i just think the erins and fandom ignore that she was abused and had to kill her son. like she isn’t just fire’s funny grandma#that’s never what she was but the erins are not good at writing so it’s understandable that the inconsistency w her character could lead to#many different opinions on her#i get not liking her. but her starclan character had potential to b good and actually tie in to her life differently than when she was alive#she has hyperempathy. god wait. she felt her son die thinking her a traitor.

okay so. the tnp au:
-it’s about establishing skyclan, rather than finding a new home. i think theyd still go see midnight/the sundrown place. maybe midnight could be the one to tell them about skyclan??
-squilf and leafs sister telepathy does not fade out. it is an important plotline.
-the clans are still suffering and recovering from tigerstars reign, so leafpaws story revolves around that mostly
-the cats who go on the journey are as follows:
-squirrelpaw*, brambleclaw, and shrewpaw (who comes along for the same reasons stormfur does)
-crowpaw*
-feathertail*, stormfur, and hawkpaw
-tawnypelt*
*means theyve been getting dreams about skyclan. squilf is the only one to actually communicate with them tho :>
-hawkfrost is a. not evil in this au and b. feathertails apprentice. he, squilf, crow, feather, and shrew are all friends. he bonds with tawnypelt too, but is uncomfortable around brambleclaw, though he cant figure out why. hes a very good brother to moth here btw!! he doesnt fake the moth sign, he just finds it in front of the med den. im a sucker for good hawkfrost sorry gang
-brambleclaw is a villain here, he kinda takes hawkfrosts role. he has grown more and more jaded due to the way everyone, especially firestar, views him. though he declared he would never join his father, his anger sent him down a dark path.
-squilf operates as the trainer for medicine cats with the help of leaf! she and crow become a lot closer during this time too. (squirrel/crow/shrew qpr!!!!) hawk also spends a lot of time with them, bc he likes learning about herbs (it gives him something to bond with moth over). tawny joins them and realizes that she kinda has a knack for healing!! (she prefers being a warrior tho so she sticks to helping squilf)
- skywatcher tells squilf the three prophecy. he also tells her that a silver cat and the spirit of skyclan will save the skies.
-feather, storm, and hawk successfully recruit everyone into skyclan. more cats join than canon, they dont only try and recruit cats who look like they mightve been related to skyclan cats
-the rats are replaced by sharptooth here. theres been several generations of pumas hunting skyclan im so sorry skyclan. they lurk in the whispering cave (which is what prevents leafstar from getting her lives)
-skyclan gains a unique culture due to the influence of the travel gang. theyre also the first clan to have music and art. the cats from skyclans destiny (the rogues) join the clan (minus stick).
-sharptooths attacks get worse and worse, so the gang creates a plan to kill them. brambleclaw, by now fully convinced to follow all that his father says, sabotages feathertail and squilf when theyre luring sharptooth into the river. his goal here was to kill squilf. after all, shes never been seen as an extension of her father, has she?
-feathertail saves squilfs life, and is nearly cost her own. the apprentices save her while tawnypelt attacks brambleclaw. feathertail loses part of her tail and breaks one of her back legs in the scuffle. her friends stay by her side unrelentingly as she heals.
-tawnypelt drags brambleclaw into camp and has him imprisoned.
-leafstars leadership ceremony occurs, with every travel member but brambleclaw present. everyone probably cries bc i would. rather than spottedleaf giving leafstar a life for healing, skystar gives her a life for prudence. leafstar names cora (skyclan name pending. maybe corashadow?) her deputy.
-leafstar refuses to let the apprentices leave without making them warriors. squirrelpaw becomes squirrelshine, crowpaw become crowflight, shrewpaw becomes shrewtuft, and hawkpaw becomes hawkfeather.
-the gang heads home. brambleclaw manages to escape from skyclan and follow them, with it being to late for skyclan to warn the gang
-joyous reunion between everyone!! moth and leaf are very obviously in love and squilf and hawk make a pact to get them together.
-focus shifts to windclan and the revolution there for a while (from crowpaws perspective.) when mudclaw dies after falling from outlook rock, crow runs away to join thunderclan.
-ash and squirrel become good friends. ashfur has a crush on squirrelshine, but she gently rejects him. he takes it just as badly as in canon.
-the badger attack is still canon. leafspirit (leafpool) runs away after cinderpelt passes away. she eventually returns, having had a short relationship with a kittypet.
-ashfur finds brambleclaw, and helps him with his plot to kill firestar. ash to hurt squirrelshine, and bramble to get his revenge on firestar and fulfill what tigerstar failed to do.
-brambleclaw makes his way back to the clans. he tries to kill firestar like hawkfrost does in canon, but hawkfeather and tawnypelt stop him. tawnypelt manages to kill him, and the lake runs red.
-leafspirit runs off again to have her kits. squirrelshine brings mothwing along to find her. they name the kits skykit (jaykit), moonkit (hollykit), and sunkit (lionkit).
other notes:
-starclan guides leaf and squirrel gently and kindly in this au. starclan works in two parts: the spirits and the storyweavers. the spirits are the same as starclan canon (but the same as in life and not butchered). they are not supposed to appear to living cats outside of leadership ceremonies, but a group of them have rebelled and left to guide the living. the storyweavers appear to the medicine cats and create the prophecies and omens. they are uncaring to the plight of the living, only caring for the destinies theyve written. ill reblog to say whos left the spirits later. they (the rebel spirits) are there through the whole arc btw
