i think it's fucked up and foul that during situations he feels trapped or unsafe, oikawa doesn't have a fight or flight or freeze reflex. to be specific, he does have a fight reflex, but it doesn't involve fighting by himself. if he thinks he's unsafe or trapped or in danger, he turns to iwaizumi.

during the last set of the second seijoh v karasuno official match, you can see oikawa beginning to crack when karasuno bridges the gap and makes the score 16-16. his next toss goes to iwaizumi, because he knows his iwa-chan will be there. he knows his palm will connect with the ball. when he loses his footing, he reaches out his hand, blindly trusting iwaizumi will pick him up. and he does. everytime, he does.

kageyama mentions once that iwaizumi and oikawa are always in sync, both by body and mind. and it's true because even when they're on the court, they're not the ace and the setter. they are iwaizumi and oikawa. iwa-chan and shittykawa. oikawa knows iwaizumi's favorite beetle and the flex of his wrist when he spikes. iwaizumi knows oikawa's real smile from his fake one and he knows the number of milk bread packets he eats per week (too many) and that's just the thing, isn't it? even in court, they're not just players. this is a dance that only they know the steps to, a kingdom that has always been theirs to rule. how beautiful it is, to know the sound of his footfalls without looking, to know the exact place he's going to set to in a court of 6 players without hesitation, with full certainty.

during the final point, oikawa sets the ball to iwaizumi. he could've chosen the person closest to him. he could've crafted his toss so masterfully that no one can see whats coming. but he chose to get it to iwaizumi at the other end of the court. it doesn't matter if his set isn't perfect or clean. it doesn't matter, because it's set to iwaizumi and that's enough. he knows he will take care if the rest.

and the thing is, the thing is, right, i firmly believe that in that moment if he chose to set to someone else, it wouldn't have been as beautiful and perfect as it was when he set to iwaizumi. there's something about knowing someone like the back of your hand and being aware of the beat of their heart more than your own that brings that kind of perfection. when oikawa reaches out, iwaizumi always reaches back. he knows iwaizumi will do everything he can to spike the ball.

and just like that he is 7 again with a scratched knee crying for iwa-chan to carry him even when he's not by his side. but he screams for him because he knows with absolute certainty that he will come. he will help. he is not alone.

the final set of his official high school career goes to iwaizumi, loud and proud. he points to him before he sets. he tells the court to watch. watch me. because he is certain that when it's him and iwaizumi, they're invincible. he wants the world to know of his worthless pride. he wants the world to know who he is proud of.

and just like that he is 7 again, screaming "iwa-chan!" in hopes his best friend will find him.

and he does. he does.

"Father?" Hans looked away from the forge to his son, standing in front of him clutching a stack of books, "you promised to help with my studies."

"Very well," Heinrich sat beside him, opening the first book to a page littered with Latin phrases. Hans quickly scanned the book, nodding, "now, you only have to look here to see the book is talking about..." his eyes strayed over to Henry at the forge again, "arms."

Heinrich stared at the page, "arms?"

"Uh, yes," Hans quickly looked back at the book, his face growing hot, "armaments. Weaponry. Military strategy. That sort of thing."

"Oh," Heinrich glanced over the words, making a mental note to discuss it with the scribe master, "I thought it was a book on classic literature."

Hans wasn't listening again and Heinrich noticed, looking up from his book to follow his father's gaze. Henry had started whistling as he forged a new practice sword for Heinrich himself to use. He should've known better than to engage his father outside when Henry was working.

Heinrich reached for another from the pile, trying to get his father's attention, "now this book I swiped from a forbidden collection. It depicts sinful, diabolical acts I am eager to try."

"Good," Hans said, distracted, still watching Henry with a stupid smile on his face. Heinrich rolled his eyes, snapping the book shut as he got to his feet.

"Uncle Henry," the blacksmith looked up from the anvil, his hammer stilling, "could you possibly do that another time? Father is supposed to be helping me but," he looked over his shoulder in time to see his father frantically attempt to look busy. He turned back to Henry somewhat embarrassed, "he's too busy watching you."

Henry nodded innocently, leaning the practice sword against the forge, "aye, I can do that."

Heinrich's relief was short-lived, however, as Henry immediately left the forge only to roll his sleeves and take an axe, ready to begin chopping wood. He sighed, glancing back at his nearly comatose father.

"I'll ask mother."

seriously wondering why WW1 was never brought up at all throughout the show in regards to edwin and the life he was living before hell. I mean fuck we get a WW1 ghost in the FIRST EPISODE but edwin doesn’t say a single thing about his familiarity with the soldier’s garments and circumstances. you’d think that would come in handy in some way, or at least be an interesting thing to reference to emphasize edwin’s age (for lack of a better word) considering this was all during the expository section of the first episode.

1916 is directly in the middle of the Great War, and depending on how long edwin had been 16 by the time he died, he would’ve been somewhere between 1-2 years off from being conscripted and sent off to the trenches– ie; really not far, so it inevitably would be a huge weight on his mind at the time. since it was the middle of the war, he would’ve known decently well the horrors being faced out there– the mustard gas, the widespread illness, the shellshock– from newspapers and such, and I have to think that he’d feel like there was a clock ticking, counting down the days until he’d be sent to his inevitable death (considering he’s not the most athletic and physically resilient boy to say the least). and if he was exempted from conscription? it could very well be for “mental illness” and/or “moral indecency” if he didn’t hide his “effeminate” behavior well enough. all-around, it’d have to be an incredibly stressful time period for more reasons than just being bullied, alienated, and repressed at school– and yet we never hear about the elephant in the room. will they do something with it later? will it play into his family background in some way? for gods sake I need to KNOW

I've seen a few things where Rise Mikey's mystic weapon was possessed by a demon.

Now imagine he befriends this demon which is part of why he gets so good with his weapon. None of his brothers know because they never really think to ask, and Mikey doesn't want to bring it up because he thinks they'll take his weapon away if they realize he's communing with demons.

Anyway, the fight with Shredder happens and his weapon gets shattered. The demon is free, but it doesn't really have anywhere to go in the human world and Mikey doesn't want to say goodbye so he offers the demon to possess him. It does.

It's a mutual relationship and Popcorn (Mikey named the demon because he couldn't pronounce its real name) really doesn't come out except when they're alone. He still doesn't tell his brothers. The first time his family meets Popcorn is when they're losing a battle pretty badly and Mikey knows it's the only way to save the day.

His brothers are absolutely flabbergasted when Mikey shouts "Popcorn!" and just bursts into flame. And then proceeds to curbstomp the villain.

You could play with the dirty part of the canon description by having Slash and his people roll in mud to hide their scent.

Parts of the Code labelling using weapons/traps as dishonorable could have started as agreements made that Slash's people wouldn't keep using their old tactics, maybe forced on Thunder's Clan to keep them from becoming too powerful, if they DID fuse.

I'm more liable to just remove the "dirty" thing entirely honestly; I just think it's so shitty I'd like to nuke it from orbit, you get me? Every single time they want you to hate someone, they make them fat and/or stinky. I'd rather just put that kind of rhetoric in the mouths of cats like Clear Sky and The Wind Runner, a lie to demonize their enemies, not really based on truth.

I think I might take the trap stuff though; that actually fits in nicely with how ThunderClan's the only one that uses spears. I won't have it be code yet, though, that's going to come a lot later. First two commandments of the code are Borders + Mercy, followed by Law 3 when Riverstar dies in some decades.

Also gonna need a name for Slash's new group. Hey, maybe THESE guys can be called Warriors, actually. Warriors of the Forest, like what the first arc used to be called before it was renamed TPB.

I have a disliking for you, Jace, you know why, but watch me surprise you (a little): I think that she's partner/context-dependent, but with a natural inclination towards dominance, but not in the way that everyone and their mother, and grandmother expects. I continuously reference her behind the scenes as being very reminiscent of the flame(s) she represents in both name and in being, but I mean it (which also makes sense since the game seems to insinuate/note that the way their Forte presents itself is tied into the Resonators' pasts and experiences, and she was told a lot about the vermilion bird), and that also applies here.

She's dominant not in a sharp, and commanding fashion of any kind, nor is she a 'girlboss' (my god, I hate this term so much) that controls the bedroom. Changli is dominant in the way that she is all-consuming in the way that fire is when it's allowed to burn slow, and steady. It's not that she demands obedience, not at all, it's that you surrender yourself to a flame, she wraps herself around the other like heat curls through silk. She's not possessive, but she's enveloping. She doesn't smother, she surrounds. It's the way in which her gaze already knows you so thoroughly, it's how when she speaks in the midst of intimacy, your will to retreat has already burned away. She doesn't bark orders, but she sets expectations. And the deeper into this intimacy that you venture with her, the more that you'd realize that her 'dominance' is very simply just a desire to engulf, to surround— it's the desire to be intimate. She's not a wildfire that burns you to the ground, she's the flame that warms you, and wraps itself around you in such a way until you don't want to look away anymore, and you're the oxygen it needs to sustain itself. It's that kind of hunger, that kind of craving. That's the 'kind' that she is.

Correction: I'm hating you a little bit much right now, Jace, because I hate the insinuations of each of these. Like for instance, for Ruan Mei— to note anything but submissive would feel wrong to me, but she's not exactly a submissive sort of individual, and using the word for just the bedroom also sounds overall ill-suited. Granted, I think it's important to note that she is relatively different, and unique when it comes to this topic either way, but I digress (do I really?) Essentially, I think I would say 'submissive' simply because of the lack of experience, but not in a timid, or shy sort of fashion where she'd need to be guided. It's more so that she'd subject herself to the stimulants that are different than she's ever known. This is the woman who claims that 'the laws of "emotion" can easily be broken down', and explains the concept of 'attachment' to us as the chemical reaction that stems from the same part of the brain as anxiety and pain (interesting to point out, Miss Ruan Mei.) It's like... god, I feel like I have to touch on the foundation here for any of this to make sense. Okay, bear with me here.

The reason why nothing else make sense for her, is because she doesn't seek intimacy in any way. I don't think a personal engagement with sex as a whole outside of possibly scientifically classifying it has ever entered her mind. The only way that it'd ever be a thought, or something like a possibility, is if she's subjected to it. Ruan Mei is someone who responds to newness, to variables she hasn't ever accounted for. Now if that sort of variable takes the shape of a kiss or a caress (or anything else)— then, and only then, does her curiosity awaken. Not romantically, or even emotionally at first, just intellectually, physically, experimentally. What is this? What are these stimuli— no, correction: she knows exactly what stimuli she's feeling, but she's never felt them before, she's not physically familiar with them as she is intimately familiar with them chemically, and scientifically. You need to activate the curiosity of a brain that has and would always analyze from a distance, but never in physical closeness. That means the person always subjects her to them, and she yields to that in some way. Would she over time, lean into a more... partner/context dependent context? Yes, but in the sense that curiosity might come to lead her. You know, it's seeking what causes the exhales, the tingles in your spine at someone's touch— she might even comment sometimes (I could say it would be endearing, but I don't know if these are things one would want to hear during this sort of moment) as to what the sensations are that you're feeling. —— Any way, submissive, fine, yes. Don't look at me, leave me alone.

ON KNIGHTHOOD & ROLE AS COMMANDER.

the nature of adam's human soul ( corrupted as a result of evil being introduced into the world, after man's first disobedience and the fall from eden ) means he has a more primal, brutal disposition than the heavenborn angels. much as he parades himself a divine being, he was still once made of flesh and blood and bone, and he possessed all those urges that came with being a part of the material world, which was tainted with sin. after the loss of paradise, he had to learn to kill, and hunt, and become top of the food chain on earth. he's not innately pure &. divinely cold like the other angels. he's violent, and brutal, and has a primal need to indulge in all that violence he learnt.

this proved detrimental to his initial stay in heaven ; coupled with that, he had too much of a vendetta against lucifer ( &. the realm of hell ) to merely lounge around and enjoy heaven, which necessitated some of that energy diverted elsewhere.

he was trained &. knighted by st. michael   ( by default, not necessary to abide by if you write michael ) in any case, he was made a knight of heaven & called upon by mortals for centuries to aid their spirits in battle, in the name of the lord.

he was entrusted with and made commander of the exorcist legions sometime after his knighting ceremony, upon his proposal to initiate the first crusades against hell, in response to attempts of rebellion amid the ranks of hell. these crusades, as i've mentioned before, were more akin to executions of specific sinners and hell nobles, to set an example.

in his capacity as commander of the exorcists, he attends conferences with heaven's high commands and holds considerable sway within the hierarchal structure ; a lot of the high-ranking angels dislike him, but given his position &. control over heaven's most brutal division, they tolerate him to keep the peace. he ABUSES THE FUCK out of this privilege 😇

ON THE EXORCIST LEGIONS.

the exorcist army is made up of multiple legions, divided into maniples. i won't give precise numbers, given this is subject to change, though overall, it is not an incredibly large force, but what they lack in number, they make up with elite training and a vicious drive.

adam oversees the training of the exorcists personally, although he is not, nor ever was, responsible for their appointment. that does not fall within his jurisdiction.

their formation is reminiscent of a number of myths: the valkyries, the holy crusaders, and the classical angelic armies portrayed in, e.g. paradise lost. although that said, they are more brutal and vicious than the regular angelic armies, equipped with armour and weaponry that would traditionally not be utilised in heaven.

ON STRENGTH, WEAPONRY & FIGHTING STYLE.

adam favours blades, primarily swords, given he was michael's knight and taught swordcraft by him. his holy sword is made of angelic steel and greatly resembles the style of an arming sword.

he also possesses great aim, though utilizes it rarely. whilst he does, on occasion, rely upon divine blasts and his angelic power, he much prefers to get his hands dirty and fight his opponents 1v1, steel on steel.

his armour is also wrought of angelic steel, making it impervious to most forms of attack.

at 244 cm and 170 kg ( 8 f / 374 lbs ) this man is a beast. aside from angelic power, he is incredibly physically capable, although he still favours a more refined fighting style and doesn't usually resort to such brutality. he IS an angel, not one of those filthy hellspawns ;) ... unless you piss him off.

his wings are strong, too, but a noticeable weakness given their relative frailty and lack of armour protecting them. due to his proportions, he's not as quick in the air as his smaller exorcists.
