The song I mentioned in the last game? The Kamino song? Yeah. That one’s wholly at fault here. But! There’s more blame to go around! Mainly @adiduck who gleefully encourages me whilst I cry over cursed clones.

So this here is disassociating Unlucky!Cadet Cody. Don’t worry, the blood isn’t his! it’s Bly’s who’s currently recovering from stabbed lungs and complaining about it

The last line I drew is the little highlight on the bone ridge on the bridge of his nose.

Obi-Whump Fic Rec

someone asked me for fic recs and I already had it listed out, so I decided to post here! these are some of my fave fics that (for the most part) focus on whump. these are in no particular order. this is not an exhaustive list by any means, I have plenty of more favorites that I have saved but I wouldn’t quite call them whump fics. also, these don’t really encompass a broad variety of whump genres, more like I have a type and that is captivity/torture. yes, i’m a sicko. if I could, I would rec everyone’s whumptober/febuwhump/etc, but maybe I’ll do that separately if there’s enough interest. obviously, there’s some heavy shit on this list, including noncon, so please read the tags and take care of yourself.

A Temporary Mercy by @swranger (6k, M, GDOV, series WIP) - citadel au. so this one is great because if you’re like me you were probably disappointed by the quick save obi et al got in the citadel arc and that he wasn’t...hurt a bit more.

something inside this heart has died (you’re in ruins) by @revanchxst (22k, T,  CCNTUAW, completed) - two things i love, codywan and pain. I was craving a fic where cody replaced rex on kadavo and goddamn this one delivered. 

i just wanna keep calling your name (until you come back home) by @revanchxst (15k, T, NAWA, completed) - what if chipped-cody started dreamsharing with obi-wan? this is the first one that’s not quite physical whump but it’s sprinkled in there along with plenty of angst. also there’s a line in here that made me cry so much i have it saved to a widget on my phone.

Recollection by @elwenyere (18k, E, NAWA, completed) - within the first few paragraphs i knew this one was gonna hurt. honorary mention because it’s cody whump and not obi whump but still plenty of pain.

Suns Tempered By Devotion by @come-chaos (15k, E, R/NC, completed) - another one that’s more codywan than whump, but this one is on here because it killed me and i have still not recovered.

In the Line of Duty by shipping_ruined_my_life (5.7k, E, GDOV, completed) - the obi whump exchange was good to us. codywan + the good ole tortured-in-front-of-the-other with a twist!

Offset by @deviantaccumulation (64k, M, GDOV, completed) - i have this one saved as “qui-gon’s alive and dooku’s a bitch”, pretty self explanatory. A+ whump.

Example by @swranger (40k, NR, GDOV, completed) - this would be like christmas if i celebrated it. every new chapter is some horror for obi and i fucking love it.

Dreams by @geodax (2.7k, M, CCNTUAW, completed) - so grievous definitely had some kind of psychosexual obsession for obi and we all know it. this...builds on that :)

Of Teachers and T'ayl'e by @levitatingbiscuits (8.7k, NR, GDOV, WIP) - also not a whump fic per se, but he’s hurt for enough of it that i’m including it. this encompasses everything i love about jangobi.

The Dark Side of Obi-Wan Kenobi Part 1 by @mostthingskenobi (25k, M, GDOV completed) - a post-lawless au with some truly delicious torture.

Conjuring Miracles by @kcrabb88 (30k, M, NAWA, completed) - again, we were deprived of some good whump by the kenobi show when tala shows up miraculously to save him (and vader forgets that he controlled fire like 2 seconds ago). this remedies that beautifully.

See My Dreams All Die by @temporaryuniverse-writing (34k, M, GDOV, completed) - what if obi-wan killed anakin on mustafar, so sidious tried to make him fall instead? plenty of great whump, but also comfort.

And This Guilt, Please Bleed It Out of Me by @letitrainathousandflames (6.2k, M, GDOV, completed) - another beautiful OWE fic. obi-wan continues to suffer from anakin’s actions (this time, the tuskens).

Only One Allowed to Hurt You by sereq_ieh_dashret (15k, E, GDOV, WIP) - maul is basically like “wait you can’t hurt kenobi, i’m the only one who can do that >:(

The Mandalorian Wars by @geodax (66k, M, GDOV, MCD, completed) - my first whump fic i read in the prequels fandom! heavy as fuck, but so good.

Two Months by I_Gave_You_Fair_Warning (14k, E, GDOV, completed) - cody replaces alpha-17 in the rattatak storyline, pain ensues :(

vital signs by marketchippie (18, E, GDOV, completed) - everything that’s great about ventrobi. tfw when you have sexual tension with your torturer?

And When In Shadows by @the-last-kenobi (1k, M, CCNTUAW, completed) - a short whumptober fic that i could not get out of my head for weeks. chef’s kiss mwah

A Treatise On Breaking and Repairs by @glimmerglanger (52k, E, GDOV, R/NC, MCD, completed) - of course i could not forget glimmer, the whump monarch. i remember staying up until 5 am every day just to catch the updates and being in awe each time.

This is from the first fic I started working on for Codywan week (not finished yet). Bet you can guess the day it’s for, aha. This also counts for six sentence Sunday, right? 

The first time Obi-Wan said something about a lightsaber being a Jedi’s life around Cody, Cody assumed it was another aspect of the Jedi’s odd religious beliefs. They’d all been warned, on Kamino, that Jedi could be... a bit mystic. To put it politely, anyway.

Obi-Wan had shared the information with a half-sheepish grin as Cody handed over his lightsaber - his life - after he’d dropped the thing. Cody thought it looked like a weapon, more than anything else, though it had felt oddly warm in his hand. 

“Thank you for taking care of it for me,” Obi-Wan said, clipping the saber to his belt again, and Cody had nodded back, still learning his way around his General.

“Anytime, sir,” he said, setting aside Jedi mysticism in favor of aiming his blaster at the oncoming clankers and laying down cover fire.

Honestly it's probably something from my orchestra au, which I don't want to spoil before I post it, sooooo my second fave is probably from the last chapter of Bloodlines:

You know where the story goes from here—to a landing platform where goodbye, old friend becomes goodbye forever, to a final battle and the Order’s last stand, to twin blue blades turned on one another. To an anguished cry and a lingering question, one that will haunt them both—

     Did I really know you at all?

     Both will find an ache in the answer. The answer—yes. I knew you, once.

     A long time ago.

I was really happy with that ending!! Lmao recently someone told me, completely seriously, that they regretted reading bloodlines and I was like — oh? And it was specifically because this ending was painful and they wanted a fix-it instead lol

“Are you cold?”

“Not really.”

“Here, wear this shawl. It’ll warm you right up.”

“Thanks.”

“Are you busy at the moment, child?”

“No… No, I’m not.”

“Well, come along then. I’m getting old and I need an assistant for cooking dinner.”

“Cooking isn’t exactly my strong suit.”

“Doesn’t matter whether you’re good or not, as long as you follow my instructions.”

“For any respectable pot of stewed sea prunes, you need to have at least four handfuls of sea prunes. Here, hold them, feel their weight. This is the right amount.”

“They’re squishy.”

“They are. Now before we add the sea prunes to the pot, we need to start the garlic and wild winter scallions with the salt and pepper.”

“How much of each?”

“Here, feel. One head of garlic, peeled and chopped. A handful of wild winter scallions.”

“This much?”

“No, no, a bigger handful than that.”

“Is this good?”

“That’s better. For the salt and pepper, start with at least two pinches of each. We can add more later as we go.”

“Ok, how do we know when it’s ready for the sea prunes?”

“Oh, you’ll know.”

“...”

“No, but really how will we know when it’s ready?”

“It will start to smell good, child.”

“Oh.”

“Also: listen. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of happy garlic.”

“It just sounds like sizzling to me.”

“It’ll come with time. Now, do you smell that?”

“Yeah! It smells good.”

“It’s ready! Now add in the sea prunes!”

“It’s… good. It’s really good. It’s a shame I never tried it before when Ka— when someone made it for the group.”

“How are you, child?”

“I’m… I’m fine. I’ll be ok.”

“It is ok to not be fine.”

“I… I don’t know… Is it bad that I haven’t cried yet?”

“Sometimes you don’t cry. Sometimes you can’t stop crying. Grief comes in many forms... Sometimes you feel like you have to take care of everyone else that you simply can’t find the time to grieve; you’re already too busy trying to fill the hole that person left…”

“That’s… that’s what she did.”

“Yes, it is… In the Southern Water Tribe, we honor the people we have lost by telling stories of their lives… Can… Can you share a story about her?”

“Ok… During the war, when we were in Ba Sing Se, we went to this spa together. It was the first time it was only the two of us, and we got all dolled up, but when we were walking back to the house we ran into these two snooty girls from the Upper Ring. They made fun of the way we looked, of course we showed them, sent them right into the river, but it still hurt… what they said. And then Katara… she was the first person to call me pretty and mean it…”

“Would you like a hug?”

“Yes.”

“Well, come here then.”

“You can call me, Gran Gran.”

Favourite story of yours? Probably Secrets. Although I am also very fond of if i name it.

Fic you were (most) nervous to post? By far and away my fics for Omega Dick Week 2020, particularly mother’s milk and i lift my lids (and all is born again) because they’re pretty kinky/fucked up. I have also posted a couple of Anonymous works that I felt were Too Much to be tracked back to me.

How do you choose your titles? Oh, it’s a lottery. If I’ve been listening to a song all day, it may well end up being the lyrics from that, or any lyrics that I think vaguely fit. I’ve also been known to go with poetry, as a way of pretending I’m smart, or just the good old adjective.

Do you outline?  I wish I did. My fics wish I did. I do not. The few times I try and plan, I’ll usually complete forget about my plan after I’ve written myself completely off-course and can’t be bothered to fix it. The closest I get to a plan is talking fic concepts over with @searchingforserendipity25, but although that is a genuine delight, it rarely results in anything concrete.

In Progress (oh shit): AO3 is telling me 6, but I call bullshit. It’s probably 10+ if I factor in series.

Coming Soon:  ∞  There are more unfinished drafts in my computer than stars in the sky. If 1% of them ever see the light of day, I’ll be amazed.

Prompts? As stated above, I have more unwritten/unposted fics than most people have ever read, so it’s gonna be a no - saying that, sometimes I end up on kinkmemes/reading cool concepts on AO3 (particular shoutout here must go to @muffinlance for making me want to write a billion things at once) that I might one day have a crack at.

Upcoming work you’re most excited about? I’m currently in the middle of an Avatar fic that explores soulmarks which appear at first touch which I’m pretty proud of, if only I could finish it.
