what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting. not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women. and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do. acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house. saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.
Tumblr media
like I could talk about this for hours. how braindead and one-dimensional the Takes are getting. "being a woman is looking in the mirror and going fuck yeah i'm a woman" damn. I guess any negative experiences you have by living in a misogynistic world... are your fault if you are anything but positive? "you don't actually want liberation" we've fully gone back to telling feminists "you WANT to be oppressed" when anything negative about our society is pointed out. it's not real until I say it out loud, I guess, and then I'm actually the one who caused it. if anybody expresses any unhappiness with how they're treated or the status quo or the language and culture surrounding womanhood and femininity. they've created it, right that second. they invented it just now. it wasn't a problem before somebody complained, right? also trans women aren't braindead zombies who just follow the flow of whatever cis women around them say. I am pretty fucking sure they are very much aware of pain, and are MORE than aware of the swirling torrent of misogyny and standards of femininity than anybody else. actually. and I am pretty sure someone complaining on tumblr that being a woman means always putting on a performance is going to make someone change their mind about transitioning. also "performing femininity" as a necessity to being treated well as a woman is not fucking NEWS to your Local Trans Woman. I AM PRETTY SURE SHE GETS THE CONCEPT. using trans women as a scapegoat for this braindead perspective on gender politics is spineless, meritless, and pathetic.
#how I feel about my gender is not the same as how I feel about the living conditions of my gender#when I saw that post I screenshotted here I literally sat w my mouth open for a minute#sent it to my friends and was like am I fucking crazy. is this what we're doing now#Forced Positivity and that there is no war in ba sing se and actually#you're ruining children's lives if you complain about misogyny on twitter#I don't HAVE to tell little girls about the downsides because they are already being mistreated#before they have even heard the word 'misogyny' let alone know what it means#you do not have to be fucking happy all the time about the cards you're dealt.#you don't live in a bubble where it's just you and your mirror and your pretty dress and nothing bad has ever happened to you#unfortunately bitch. we will have negative experiences that are in fact. part of the package of being a woman#and IGNORING them doesn't make them not exist. actually they will continue to remain status quo unless acknowledged#sergle.txt#I see so much rhetoric that is JUST old-fashioned gender ideals being presented with liberal language on tiktok#that is just telling women that womanhood is just being a girllll and loving pretty things and being kind and gentleeeee and nurturing#and not working and just like being wholesome and being happy and being a light in ppl's lives and just LOVING LOVING LOVING being a woman#so if for even one second. you don't love it. you are actually failing at being a woman#if you complain about the standards for shaving or putting on makeup. which used to be Baby's First Feminism online#that's actually just you creating problems. you're not supposed to acknowledge it. you're supposed to shut up and smile into the mirror.

L'uomo ideale non è chi fa "per te", ma colui che fa "con te". Non a caso, si con-divide la vita con chi ami e chi ti sta a fianco deve esserne "compagno", non l'"accompagnato".

my concept of donut is like, he should be on a 1960s white america boyscouts poster but like, goofy about it. do you get what i mean.
like to me donut was basically cooked up in a lab to be a parody of the Good Ol’ Boy Back When Boys Were Real Boys who played outside all day with friends smacking each other with sticks playing space cowboys and aliens, rubbing dirt in all his cuts and knowing big boys repress all their emotions except Boisterousness, always says his yes maams and yes sirs and never questions authority (but also, y’know, boys will be boys so of course they’re up to Mischief when unsupervised, a bit of chaotic and violent rule-breaking fun is all fine and good as long as they’re respectful to authority and just accept their punishment with an “awwww, man! Shucks!” in the end).
a parody because it plays up how someone genuinely like that probably must be pretty stupid/oblivious/gullible to be so pliable to authority and follow dumb norms of “what is a nice polite young man supposed to act like” without any thought into “wait, what makes this something it’s important or nice to do? are there perhaps other things i could focus on doing that would actually be more important or nice to do? do i actually get or care what being nice and doing good is, or do i just like doing whatever i want without having to think about Ethics and then having a very easy set of rules of How To Be Nice to follow”.
and also a parody because he also is like, extremely gay, and he literally just does what he wants and acts how he wants and it’s simultaneously ^that whole Good Ol’ Boy thing and the most flamboyant stereotypically gay mannerisms and hobbies you’ve seen in your life. and he just fully lacks the interest in doing any reflection that would lead him to conclude anyone might see these as rather contradictory or subverting expectations. he’s exposed both to norms of good behaviour coming from conservative places and from progressive places and doesn’t really think about these perhaps being conflicting ethos, he just grabs this random patchwork of “hey this is something someone told me yayyyy :)”. he can enthusiastically follow the letter of many laws rooted in heteronormativity and toxic masculinity and also the letter of laws coming from Progressive Ideals but he fully does not give a shit to consider whether there might be a bigger spirit to any of those laws. dumbitchitis got him immune to internalized homophobia (no he isn’t actually. but he is quite certain that just Not Thinking About It means any negative emotions don’t exist. this is a foundational truth to donut’s understanding of the universe)
what i’m saying is donut should simultaneously give the impression of walking straight off a cheery WWI Join The Troops poster or 1960s boy scouts ad, but also of being absolutely A Pansy of the same era, but also of being the kind of modern queer who says “be gay do crime” not because they’ve given two seconds of thought to prison abolition but because they find doing crime really fun

Rewatching succession it really is wild to see Kendall and Shiv convince themselves over and over again that they can "fix ATN/Waystar from the inside" only to completely abandon their morals the minute it gives them a strategic advantage.
When they're on the outside it's an endless diatribe about how evil and rotten the company is to its core, but the second they get the slightest whiff of power they suddenly decide the problems are actually really manageable and that with the right leadership it could be a force for good, and like...the saddest part is that they genuinely seem to believe that.

thinking about how like. In two episodes, we see versions of Garak that are based partly on Julian's memories and perceptions of Garak- and that Julian comes up with or is involved in some plan with high stakes, and Garak is very agreeable about it. He's eager overall, and that includes his willingness to help Julian and do as he suggests.
And then in Our Man Bashir, Julian comes up with a high stakes plan and Garak at first yells at him quite a bit about it, before folding and rather eagerly following his lead.

For the third time, the US has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution related to the violence in Palestine.

Imagine the people who would have still been alive after the first one. Even the second one. And instead, it won't even stop now, at confirmed 29K, but most likely beyond 33K.

Media where the protagonist condemns a more 'extreme' character's actions against their enemies and that isn't questioned even though it's really really clear with a step backward that without that character's extreme actions, the world would be in a worse place for it or the protagonist's goals would be impossible to achieve are so so interesting to me. & i mean this in the best of ways

It's also funny that in Victoria 2, if you play as a developing nation outside of the great powers (say, Argentina) and if you implement liberal laissez faire economics, your economy goes to absolute shit. The only good way to play Victoria 2 is with state capitalism or a command economy, because otherwise the invisible hand of the market screws you.
If the Liberals get in charge of Argentina, it ruins the country for generations. 10/10 excellent realism.

I don’t love my disabilities but I also wouldn’t know who the fuck I was without them
I would not be the same person as I am right now. I would be far less traumatized and nicer and probably some other things but who knows? We don’t live in that world and I can’t get to it
Some trans people would prefer to be cis because the act of being trans in this world is so utterly traumatizing and unsafe.
It doesn’t mean they hate other trans people. It just means they’re justifiably afraid of being openly trans in a world that hates us and seems to hate us more by each passing day

Disney v DeSantis
I've seen a lot of people cheering for Disney to win because Fuck DeSantis. I've also seen a lot of people criticizing the first group for defending an Evil Corporation.
Here is what it comes down to and what everyone needs to understand:
This isn't about DeSantis being evil and deserving to get stomped. (Though he is and he does.)
This isn't about Disney being an Evil Corporation that has Far Too Much Power. (They are and they do.)
This is about whether or not it's ok for a Government Official to politically target ANYONE for criticizing them. Because as soon as that's ok, everything is going to get much, much worse.
Here in the US, the much touted, much debated, often misapplied First Ammendment means the Government is not allowed to retaliate against you if you say something they don't like. Right now, the Florida Government is retaliating against Disney for saying something they didn't like.
You don't have to like Disney. Hell, you can absolutely support them losing their power. You can hate them and rage against them and campaign for them to get kicked out of Florida. But as soon as you start saying that it's ok for them to lose their rights, as soon as you say it's ok for ANYONE to lose their rights just because you don't like them, you've opened the door to fascism.
And that's why I want Disney to win. Because if the Government can attack a corporation as big and as powerful as Disney for speaking out, then we all lose.

I know the children's cartoon politics dilemma has been left alone for a while but it pisses me off when anyone acts like complaining about the biases of society in our media (specially media that is meant to be shown to impressionable children) is treated like some petty and stupid idea. Does seeing paw patrol merch not make you want to kill someone
