assorted doug eiffel fantasy genre thoughts that will never cohere into a proper post but i want to say anyway: love that lotr is one of his more-frequently-referenced series. doug eiffel is the guy who is dying to tell you viggo mortensen broke his toes while kicking that helmet. thinking about gabriel urbina saying eiffel's favorite game of thrones character was robb and, doing the math, they realized the last episode to air before he left earth would've been the one right before the red wedding. thinking about the not-technically-canon dnd script and how he would be so so insufferable to dm for because he has his character's whole story planned out and he gets frustrated every time the game doesn't adhere to it. doug eiffel is the guy who gets really annoying about other people not doing their character voices. and you'd think maybe he would be a better dm than a player, if he wants to tell wild stories and do character voices so badly, but he would never be willing to plan for it and he insists he wants to play even though it makes him mad every time. doug eiffel has a very specific and very fervent pet peeve about the prevalence of giant spiders in high fantasy and you should not get him started.

Some people: Kaeya’s bio father is an abusive monster who abandoned his son in order to achieve his own selfish goals. He is an evil man who deserves everything awful that might happen to him.
Other people: Kaeya’s bio father did the right thing and leaving Kaeya in Mondstadt was the only way to give him a halfway-decent life. He is a better father than he is given credit for and should not be as hated as he is.
Me: Kaeya’s bio father is integral to the general ‘war is hell and bad choices can reverberate across time’ thing that Genshin seems to be going for. He made unethical choices, but mostly because the ONLY OPTIONS HE HAD WERE UNETHICAL. If our understanding of the Alberich’s role in Khaenri’ah is accurate, General Alberich (my name for him until stated otherwise) was suddenly in charge of a hopeless and dead kingdom which begged to be saved. Assuming that there was a reason Kaeya specifically was chosen for this mission, General Alberich was forced into a position where he needed to choose between the lives/future of every Khaenri’an vs the life and future of his young son. Abandoning either is an awful thing to do and a horrible decision, but the bad decisions of Celestia and Rhinedottir have led to a scenario where General Alberich can only make bad decisions. In the end, he chose to prioritize his people and made his young son into a spy. We do not know the process for this, but knowing how much Hoyoverse loves to torment people (especially Khaenri’ans) we can assume that this process was horrific for Kaeya and could definitely be considered abuse. General Alberich is effectively making his son into a child soldier for a war that the majority of people never wanted or asked for, and one Kaeya was likely far too young to understand. At least, until he was forced to grow up far too quickly in order to fulfill his duty. General Alberich likely loathed everything about what was happening and even in his last moments with his son he asks for forgiveness. He knows that what he is doing is wrong, but to turn back now is to both abandon his subjects and make everything that happened to Kaeya in order to turn him into a child spy be for nothing. So yeah, General Alberich is a terrible person who made horrible choices. But war and the bad actions of others have created a situation where he has nothing BUT horrible choices and where being a terrible person is the only thing he can be. And that’s without considering how the curse/abyssal corruption could impact the scenario.

i really do wanna like put some more limelight onto my ocs!!! i wanna be like everyone else and have that balance where people are open to my ocs or my canons! it's great and fun to write canons and all that but like where's the oc & oc love that used to be around i miss doing like... oc stuff and making all this fun original stuff with other people!
it's great i have like a couple of people too who actually do this regularly but i just! kinda wish all of us did it more. because i really! enjoy my ocs! and i think i write them well! just as well as my canons! and i'd really just like to feel like they're just as valued!!

Guys i normally don't yap about this but i was reminded of it when my bf came over the other day-
He admitted to me that he felt like he was forcing me to be around him (which isn't true - if anything i'm the one who's really forward lol).
And while i believe everyone should be held accountable and that statistics exist - teenage boys are demonized in the school system. They are often collectively punished as a gender through high school (this include FTMs in my experience). The phrase "boys will be boys" is lessening the errors of serious bullies and generalizing a whole group of children of different backgrounds and emotional levels to just one gendered expression.
It just made me very sad that he said he was scared of being perceived as a threat to me (or even accidentally hurting me) because of our difference in stature (a solid one foot height difference 💀). I think it's because of how adults ignore the actual emotional depth of boys (includes FTM!!!) since "they're more simple" or they need to grow up on their own to be a "real man".
All teenagers need guidance. And between Covid isolation to the prevalence of online communities trying to lead young people astray to capitalize off of insecurities and strip them of humanity (look at the language used in self-help programs online - it's blantantly objectifying!) that guidance is needed now more than ever.
Behavior is learned but humanity is innate and needs to be cultivated...
