Zack Morgenroth
Partner, Lighthouse Management & Media
Though he is now the co-manager of superstar multihyphenates Olivia Rodrigo and Selena Gomez, Morgenroth, 35, says with a laugh that he “didn’t even know this was a job” growing up.
That changed his sophomore year at the University of Southern California when he landed an internship at a management company and realized “there’s a world out there that me in high school could have never thought about.”
His next internship, at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, proved even more fruitful. It was there he met Aleen Keshishian, founder of Lighthouse Management & Media, where Morgenroth joined as a partner at the company’s inception in 2016. Having known Keshishian for nearly 15 years, he says, “gives us such a shorthand when we’re working together on clients,” says Morgenroth. “It’s like yin and yang — and you get the brain power of two people.”
Keshishian says Morgenroth has evolved “into one of the most talented and visionary artist reps I’ve ever seen,” adding, “his mastery of all of the verticals necessary to create business for our clients is truly rare.”
Lighthouse’s A-list roster of talent is spread across music, TV, film, beauty and other sectors — and a major selling point for a young ascendant artist like Rodrigo, who signed with Lighthouse in February and is eager to do it all. Morgenroth describes the process of getting to know a new client as “incredibly delicate,” adding that the start of any successful management relationship comes down to asking plenty of questions: “It’s big-picture things to things as small as what they are allergic to.”
Rodrigo, of course, got her start on the Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series; broke a slew of chart records with her 2021 debut single, “drivers license”; and became a superstar with first album Sour, scoring seven Grammy nominations. In March, she was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year, then in April scooped up three of those Grammys and announced a partnership with Glossier as the first celebrity ambassador of the direct-to-consumer makeup brand.
Morgenroth says it’s important to have “the ability to do all these different things and have expertise in different [areas] and have a track record in working with artists in different [lanes].” It’s exciting to him as well. He says management feels “much more entrepreneurial than ever,” adding that it is “incredibly rewarding to be able to connect the dots with clients and be able to do multiple things.” Recent cross-field victories include collaborating with John Janick and Justin Lubliner at Interscope and The Darkroom, respectively, to executive produce the 2021 Apple TV+ documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry (along with Eilish’s co-managers, Danny Rukasin and Brandon Goodman); and later that year, watching Gomez earn her first Grammy nomination for her first Latin album, Revelación.
He says a key part of the Lighthouse pitch is to always think long term — as far ahead as “what are the goals for, hopefully, 20 to 30 years from now?”
“Especially when you have a young client, you want to be thinking about a career,” he continues. “You want to pace yourself and only do things that feel organic to the client and what they want to accomplish.”
Before I Turn 40, I Want To…: “Have a day off.”

Will every companion have their own pet/sidekick/unwanted guest ?
For now, we have Davrin with his griffon son Assan, Emmerich with his skeleton son Manfred, Bellara was with Flicker in the last V&V, and Lucanis has to endure Spite. Of course, Rook must do the same with Solas.
I feel like Rook and Lucanis drew the short straw here. Sleep must be difficult with a demon or a god stuck in one's head.

i wish someone would just invent an app like simply plural but where you can easily share it. everyone says use google docs or something else like it where you can't create individual profiles that don't clutter the page. we have a lot of alters and we're getting increasingly frustrated that we can't find anything to list them in a way that isn't overwhelming. our alters also like to visually represent themselves but don't really have anywhere to have like a gallery or anything. we do video visits with our therapist so we can't physically show her our phone. it's so frustrating.
Ah yeah, we feel you there. Our system uses Simply Plural but it can be kind of clunky or difficult to use for our specific purposes sometimes (not knocking the app at all… We love the app and use it all the time, we just agree that there are certain features that it just doesn’t have).
Maybe making some sort of physical journal or binder could help you guys. If you have access to a printer, you could print out little picrews or other images to include, and you could also draw and write in it, too. That way, you could have something to bring to therapy that you could show your therapist without needing your phone for it.
Also maybe consider making a Carrd? Though I think the unpaid version of Carrd has restrictions for the number of pages and images you can include, so that could probably cause some issues.
We know the website Lighthouse doesn’t have an app, and we haven’t personally used it so we can’t speak to its features, but maybe it has some capabilities that might work for you? Could be worth checking out…
If anyone knows of any Simply Plural alternatives that work well for outside sharing, please let us know!

is it just me or is bioware spoiling way too much about the game . talking about gameplay improvements is one thing but revealing story and companion arcs seems very insecure to me bc now the mystery is gone when people play for the first time . seems like they're trying too hard to prove that their game isn't garbage after that first trailer but this is not how you do that

I’m about to graduate law school, and every single day I wonder if I should have tried to make a creative career work first.
I don’t know a word for it either.
I just graduated law school and passed the bar and I’m honestly really good at the attorney thing but every single day I think of a life where I’m writing full time instead.
A part of me still thinks we’ll find our way back around.

Feeling marginally better now, enough to exit horizontal time and shitpost!
Anyway I had the Osprey book on the Chasseurs of the Guard open as a reference for a drawing, was trying to work out what the heck is going on with someone’s aiguilettes
And in the section about Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes
Tumblr media
… that’s a very opinionated statement from a reference book-

This is random but it's fascinating to me how so much like "escapist fantasy" (in the context of it often being somewhat based in nostalgia for something) online is so like cottage core, flowers, forests, small cottages, away from everyone, like this sorta thing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because personally I've never related to wanting that because I've never experienced anything like that and a lot of the children's media I consumed wasn't based around that environment so that wasn't like a fantasy idea in my brain, and my like escapist kinda ideas are more like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(these are places I frequented in my childhood, image them like more depressing looking though because that's reality and also I like a gloomy beach) because I grew up in coastal areas and a lot of kids media I consumed was also set in coastal towns. Like where are the people who wanna live near a gloomy little beach and go there just to sit and then go get fish and chips and paint in their coastal shack (and not in like a boho surfer way those aren't the vibes). Why does everyone wanna live in an isolated cottage and garden and bake (not hating on ppl who wanna do that).

i just can't imagine asoiaf ending with jon azorahai and dany nissanissa to stop the long night and some big glorious battle. i think that would be so antithetical to what gerrm is vying for - as in "war and violence against women is bad" and "jrr tolkien (GOAT) was lowkey cringe for the big battle against sauron's forces im soooo edgy and morally grey"
