trying to understand the rules of a certain sport (ik ik shut up) and it's incredible how arcane and full of strange rituals it seems compared to the elegance and simplicity of volleyball, whose rules are entirely logical and intuitive (and that i just so happen to grow up playing)

Chapter Six of Change is Impurrative is out now!

Summary: Upon inadvertently transforming Alhaitham from a cat back to a human by somehow fulfilling an unknown desire, Kaveh is confronted with the question he’s tried to smother for years – why did Alhaitham allow him to stay? Why was Kaveh here?

Chapter Summary:

What could he possibly do for Alhaitham? Well, he could do the chores. He could keep Alhaitham’s house clean. He could make coffee in the morning. He could cook dinner. He could offer debates. These were unremarkable things which Alhaitham had been perfectly content living without in the privacy of his own home. So why was Kaveh there? He had smothered it for so long, this question, and its sudden relevancy was gripping. Alhaitham must have sensed Kaveh’s gaze; he looked at Kaveh in such a way that perturbed him. It seemed as if he had misspoken without saying a word, perhaps said something which could cause offence. Kaveh felt like he was seeing something that wasn’t there, a trick of the light, a web of his own creation that he must carelessly swipe to the side. He couldn’t do it. This was honesty, his honesty, that dare not surface to the light. This was an honesty that would not benefit Alhaitham, and therefore, it would be snuffed out. There was nothing to do but look away.
