Dazai Osamu

Dazai has to stop his lazy chatter or his whining for a second to try and parse whether he heard that correctly. He lifts his head from where it's slumped on a cushion, the rest of his gangly body splayed out on the couch. He mentally replays the last few seconds and yeah, you said what he thought you said.

A slow, sly grin creeps its way across his face as he sits up, eyeing you where you're making coffee in the kitchen. His brown eyes sparkle with amusement and mischief. He's not used to his own brand of flirting being directed back at him and he's delighted.

Long arms wrap around your waist from behind, and the point of his chin comes to rest on your shoulder.

"If I'm your kitten, shouldn't you be petting me and hand-feeding me crab?" he wheedles.

You scoff, lifting a hand to ruffle his warm brown waves. He gives a pretty good impression of a purr, at least until you flick his nose, retorting, "Don't make me get the spray bottle."

Fyodor Dostoevsky

Fyodor doesn't react immediately.

His question was likely not something related to his plans or any major operations, or you wouldn't have answered him so flippantly. Perhaps it was a casual enquiry as to your day, or just asking what you were doing.

He leans slowly back in his chair and turns to look at you, his eyes glinting violet-red in the dim light of his screens.

A soft huff of amusement cuts through the quiet hum of electronics. His gaze takes you in from head to toe.

"You do like your little games, don't you, myshka? Just remember, that if I am the cat, you are the mouse."

Akutagawa Ryuunosuke

You'd better be his s/o if you're going to pull this, because he has killed people for less.

When your words register, Akutagawa's eyes widen, white showing all around the grey. A blotchy flush appears on his pallid cheeks.

"What did you just say to me?" he asks, venomous.

If there is anyone else who was close enough to hear it, they are probably dead. Akutagawa's black coat ripples, Rashoumon stirring in response to his anger and embarrassment.

Akutagawa slaps a tendril of Rashoumon over your mouth.

"...never say that again, fool."

He stalks off in a huff.

Nakahara Chuuya

Chuuya has a moment of BSOD, where he's not sure what he just heard. His head whips toward you so fast that his hat almost flies off. His eyebrows crash down into a scowl, while heat creeps up his neck and turns his ears crimson.

"Oi, what'd ya just call me?"

"What's wrong, kitten?" you repeat.

He sputters, annoyed and flustered and not entirely sure how he should react to that. Chuuya, being Chuuya, he aggressively adjusts his hat and straightens his shoulders, as if he can shrug off what you just said.

"I ain't no damn kitten."

Don't try and attach a bell to his choker.

Nakajima Atsushi

Completely clueless.

He just stops what he's doing, the earnest, cheerful look on his face melting into one of blank confusion.

"Um, did you just call me...?"

He's too embarrassed to say the word out loud, his cheeks pink.

"Call you what, kitten?"

You're enjoying this far more than you should, you sadist.

Atsushi swallows, looking around to make sure no one else hears you call him such an embarrassing nickname. He'd never live it down.

"Uh, is this because of the tiger thing?"

Edogawa Ranpo

Ranpo is leaning back in his chair, his feet propped up on the desk, a lollipop lodged firmly in his mouth. He's a little bored because there are no fun cases to solve, but he has candy, and you're nearby, so things aren't too bad, as far as he's concerned.

He doesn't even bat an eyelid when you address him as "kitten". He's halfway toward being a cat already.

Taking the lollipop from his mouth and waving it through the air, he declares, "Meow."

You should also get him a pair of cat ears. He'll wear them without a trace of shame.

"Hey, if I'm your kitten does that make you my Discord daddy?"

Fukuzawa Yukichi

I doubt anyone has ever had the balls to say something like that to Fukuzawa before, so first I must congratulate you on your cojones (metaphorical or otherwise).

He turns toward you, his stern face expressionless. After a moment, one of his eyebrows quirks up.

"Not in public, dear," he intones.

You're left spluttering, the tables so neatly turned on you. Never underestimate Fukuzawa.

miya atsumu who finds that love makes him smug. he becomes like a cat on a diet of rich cream, purring at the hand that feeds him. he curls, malleable, around your fingers, neck, waist — anywhere you’ll let him really. he’s always been a show-off, so when he’s in love, it's no different. he basks in your love, soaking up every last drop, making sly note of every time you make him beam, or make him feel as if he can do anything in the world (because he can). with that, he’ll return it to you tenfold, because he wants to, because you deserve it, because he loves you. he can only hope, that one day, you feel just as good as he feels, if not better, when you two are together. he hopes he’s good for you too.

tanaka ryuunosuke feels love like a tidal wave. he knows that he would not be in love (it could never be love), if he couldn’t feel it from the very depths of his heart. so, when he first laid eyes on you — you glorious, glorious being — he knew that there would be no backing down. never. the slope of your nose, the curve of your face, all entranced him. you were a siren calling out to him, and he would be damned if he didn’t heed your summons. he swears that the day he made you full belly laugh, tears of mirth in your eyes, love crashed into him all over again.

tsukishima kei whose love is like a rose. it’s sweet and deliciously delicate. those looking inwards have the firm belief that he has you wrapped around his little finger. you’re the one who will bend, you’re the one who’ll compromise. they’re wrong. there’s always a push and pull. it’s a balancing act, his love for you, the love you have for each other. because, unlike a rose bush, he knows how to prune the stems, rid the thorns, so you are never fully devastated by his sharp words. he doesn’t need someone else to do it for him, not even you. he relishes in the work. he misses occasionally (no one is perfect), but you know how to deal with him. you have a temperament, a sass, of your own. as if he would trade it for anything else in the world.

Bokuto freezes for half a second, eyes going wide with pure shock, before his brain catches up. The next thing you know, he’s beaming, practically vibrating with excitement as he pulls you in for another kiss, unable to contain himself. He’s grinning so much it makes kissing him a little awkward.

“WOAH! YOU REALLY LIKE ME, HUH?!”

Akaashi’s eyes flutter shut as you kiss him, but when you pull away, you notice the faintest trace of a smile on his lips. He’s calm, composed, but the slight pink on his ears gives him away. He opens his eyes, studying you quietly before murmuring:

Kageyama goes completely rigid, his eyes wide as if he’s trying to process what just happened. His lips part slightly, but no words come out. When you pull back, he’s still staring at you, his face turning redder by the second.

Hinata practically malfunctions. His brain can’t keep up, and his face turns bright red as he stares at you, eyes wide. He’s grinning uncontrollably, but he’s also too flustered to say anything coherent.

Sugawara’s eyes widen in surprise for a split second, but then he melts into the kiss, smiling softly against your lips. When you pull away, his gaze is warm, filled with amusement and affection. He brushes his thumb gently over your cheek, his voice teasing but fond.

You were the only thing I held onto that didn’t feel tainted by blood.” His voice is quiet, raw, as his fingers hover over your shoulder, trembling but never daring to touch. “You made me believe I could be more than a monster, and now I’ll carry that shame with me forever. Forgive me… if you can.” His coat billows behind him as he turns away, but his shoulders shake with the sobs he refuses to let you hear.

Fyodor Dostoevsky :: “Your love was a distraction I could no longer afford. Weakness has no place in my plans, and you… you were my greatest weakness. How pitiful, to think someone like you could have changed me.” His voice is venomous, but his cold stare falters as he walks away, his gloved hand trembling slightly.

Chuuya Nakahara :: “Damn it, why couldn’t I protect you? You—Fuck, you were supposed to be the one thing that didn’t slip through my fingers. I don’t care if it kills me, I’ll keep fighting for you, even if you’re not here to see it.” His voice cracks as he sinks to his knees, cradling your lifeless body in his arms. He presses his forehead against yours, trembling as he whispers, “I’ll never forget you… but God, I wish I could’ve gone with you.”

Atsushi Nakajima :: “You said I was strong, but how strong could I be if I couldn’t save you?!” His voice breaks as he clutches your body, tears streaming down his face. “You believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. And now—now I’m the one who has to live with this.” He buries his face in your shoulder, his sobs muffled as he whispers, “I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to be the man you thought I was… but it’ll never be enough without you.”

Sigma :: “You were my first glimpse of something… something real, something worth holding onto. But now, even you’re slipping away, just like everything else in my life.” His voice shakes, and he kneels beside you, clutching your hand as if he can anchor you—and himself—somehow. “I was supposed to protect you, wasn’t I? But all I’ve ever done is lose the things I care about.” Tears stream down his face, his quiet sobs filling the air as he whispers, “I’ll remember you, even when the world forgets me… I’ll remember you forever.”

It’s becoming annoyingly common for you to trip over Rashōmon. You’re pretty sure that either Ryunosuke isn’t aware he’s doing it or that he’s just deflecting blame out of embarrassment because he scolds you for being clumsy when it happens. Rashōmon keeps ending up wrapped around your ankle and not letting go. This wouldn’t be that much of an issue if it let you move freely. Except it didn’t. Rashōmon wouldn’t let you move more than five feet away from Akutagawa. You knew better than to point it out at work though. Once you two were home, however…

“Ryuunosuke,” you said as you glanced at him next to you, “what are you doing?”

Rashōmon had once again wrapped around your ankle. Akutagawa didn’t look up from his book.

“Reading.” He replied bluntly. You rolled your eyes.

“No, I mean, Rashōmon. It’s wrapped around my ankle again and it keeps tripping me when I move away from you.” You clarified. His gaze flickered down to your ankle and grunted. Ah, so he did know he was doing it.

“Then don’t go so far from me.” Akutagawa said, refusing to make eye contact with you.

“Five feet is too far?” You asked, giving him a look. He grumbled under his breath. This was a common occurrence. When it came to voicing his emotions, he sucked at it. Akutagawa went into his usual grumbling silence when you pointed out that he had feelings.

“Ryuunosuke… Where’s your head at?” You prodded softly. Akutagawa snapped his book shut and tossed it aside. He glared at you. It would have been intimidating if you didn’t know him so well. Rashōmon’s grip on your ankle tightened. Akutagawa’s jaw was set in a tense position and he sorted out his thoughts for a moment.

“It is too far after you almost got killed the second that you were out of my sight last month. I will not allow that to happen again.” He said stiffly after a moment. You winced a little at the memory. A mission went sideways and you’d ended up in the hospital.

“That wasn’t your fault.” You sighed.

“It was. I wasn’t with you. You got hurt.” Akutagawa insisted. Groaning, you rubbed your face.

“That's not how that works, love. If you’d been in there with me, you’d have just gotten hurt too.” You argued.

“I could’ve protected you!” Akutagawa snapped.

“No, you couldn’t have!”

“Then at least I would’ve felt like I did everything I could’ve. I don’t give a damn if I got hurt or died if I was protecting you!” He shouted. Ah, there it was. The actual issue. Akutagawa turned and coughed into his hand. The slight tremor in his hand and the furrow of his brow betrayed his frustration.

“… And how would you expect me to react if you had gotten killed?” You asked. Akutagawa sighed and ran a hand over his face. He was silent.

“Ryuunosuke, neither of us can do our jobs with me velcroed to your side. It increases the chances of both of us getting hurt if we can’t move freely.” You pointed out softly. “I promise that I’ll be more careful and stick close, but I can’t keep tripping over Rashōmon.”

Without saying anything, he made sure that Rashōmon had released your ankle. Akutagawa looked grumpy about it but complied. Apparently, his compromise for the moment was to grab you by the waist and pull you flush against his side. He wouldn’t make eye contact with you, but this would do for now. Getting Ryuunosuke to talk about his feelings was like pulling teeth so this was likely all you were getting out of him tonight
