okay but like… why is zoe still in paris? She didn’t go back to New York with her mom and Chloe, which don’t get me wrong, makes total sense, why would she want to go back? But HOW? Is Andre staying in Paris? How does that work… he was the main reason why they were “ exiled” Sure chloe was part of the reason but she openly admitted to being akumatized? I feel like most of the heat would still be on Andre?
so he’s either still in Paris with zoe keeping a low profile, separated from his wife and daughter to be with his step daughter (who he actually likes so it kinda makes sense)
or on his way to new york with his wife and child and zoe’s just … alone?
the first one makes the MOST sense but it still doesn’t necessarily make sense?

Summer. The word itself feels warm. Like being curled up in a blanket next to a fireplace, or even the warm, harsh sun rays that break through the windows.
Summer to you was an escape. A getaway. A time when you didn't have to worry about anything—except your feelings for seonghwa.
He was your sun. Your world. The boy you pictured yourself marrying, and even daydreamed about what kind of dress you would wear to your wedding. He was perfect in every way, but the thing was, he was your best friend. Friends don't stay friends when complicated feelings are involved.
All your little life you dreamed about him. Longed for him in ways no friend should think about. You always thought you kept it buried pretty deep that no one would be able to notice, but you didn't think about a certain younger boy that knew everything behind those eyes of yours.
It was as if he knew your soul like the back of his hand, while you barely knew him.
Seonghwa was your sun; you were Mingi’s moon. His moonlight—his everything.
You left six years ago, on a journey across the world to the bustling city of New York, you fell in love with everything around you.
But not enough to stay.
After those years of growing up, you ran through college like it was a marathon. Getting your life on track knowing that you couldn't stay in the states your whole life—maybe because of your lack of english knowledge—you decided to fly back to your hometown.
You had no plan, no idea in your mind. You just got up and left, hoping everything would fall into place. Maybe you'd bump into seonghwa again, and maybe he would still think of you as his best friend. It was better than nothing, at least.
Stepping onto the rough gravel, you shut the door of the taxi cab with your luggage in the other hand. The air already felt different—like home. The scent felt like a warm embrace, even if you had nowhere to go. It smelled a bit fishy with a hint of salt from the ocean, but you loved it. Craved it.
It was summer.
Your mom left your childhood home a few years back. She told you it started to get a bit lonely ever since your father left, and decided to move back in with her sister in the heart of Seoul. You couldn't lie, it was a good idea. Your aunt was a riot, so you figured your mom was enjoying herself—and enjoying her homemade fruity cocktails you always wanted as a kid.
You took a breath as you faced the slightly run-down airbnb you booked for a few weeks out of the summer—the perks of being a bestselling author. You've been in a slump for a while, the lack of romance in your life caused your mind to fall behind. This summer, you wanted to find love. Well, at least some form of it.
Lugging your luggage behind you, you checked into the home and walked in. The strong scent of wood erupted your senses, a feeling of nostalgia taking over your heart. It enveloped you as you walked in, your chest feeling heavy. The smell reminded you of your old home here in Jeju, and you had wished you never left. You wondered about the what if’s, but there was no point drowning into any of it.
After settling in and cleaning up a bit of the dust around the house, you sat down on the couch as you wondered what to do. You had your mind set on meeting your childhood best friend again, and you thought about how good he looked now years later. He was slightly younger than you—only by about five months—but you always rubbed it in your face that you were older. His brother was two and a half years younger than you, and you always thought of him as a cute baby brother.
To be fair, the last time you saw him, he was only sixteen and still hasnt grown into his body. You had no concept of time, and it was hard to imagine him as a twenty-two year old grown man now. Did his ears still turn pink when he blushed? Did he still run around like a maniac as if he never got tired? Is he still as clumsy as ever?
Your mind wandered all around Mingi; the sweet little boy that seemed to be attached to your hip. He wasn't too much younger than you, but a part of you has never thought of him as anything more than a little brother.
Well, until now.
You left the house, your mind on mingi now moving towards the brother you thought you were destined to.
You walked around the outside market by the seaside a few days later, the air now really smelling fishy. You tossed in a few things into your basket, not exactly organized in any way.
After tossing in some green onions from the produce stand, someone ran right into you from behind, causing you to tumble onto the ground, dropping all your groceries out from your basket in the process.
“Oh, shit, I’m sorry,” a deep voice rumbled from above you, and you looked up to notice a boy with dark brown hair. A few light brown streaks scattered through his gorgeous locks, and his lips were a soft pink. He looked all too familiar, and held out his hand to you, frowning when you weren't taking it. “Are you alright?”
You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding, meeting his piercing gaze. His hand twitched now as he peered at you, taking notice of your features—features he could never forget. “Y/N?” he questioned, his deep voice raising a pitch or two. His lips were parted in a smile, his eyes glittering under the fluorescent lights from the fish tanks around you.
It seemed like a movie. From the way everyone stopped and stared, to the way this handsome stranger held his hand out to you—although he’s not a stranger at all. It took you a second to put two and two together, and the minute you took his hand, you felt the warmth flow through you.
Once he pulled you up from the ground, you really noticed how tall he was. He towered over you like some sort of skyscraper, his hand still holding onto yours like his life depended on it. You frowned up at him, peering through the curtains of his hair to stare into his honey-like eyes.
And there it was. The minute you knew him.
You could recognize those eyes anywhere.
“Mingi?!” you gasped, pulling your hand away from his to take a step away from him in shock. It’s been six years since you saw him, and the last time you did see him, he was only about half the size he is currently. His hair changed, and it made you wonder what else changed about him. “Holy shit.”
He was taken aback, looking around shyly before letting out an anxious giggle. “Is that reaction a good or bad one?” he asked you, fiddling with his fingers. You looked up to him—literally. He was no longer that baby brother. He was a totally different person.
“What happened to your teeth?” you mumbled, eyes wide as you noticed how pin-straight they were. They were also blinding white, matching the t-shirt that seemed a bit too snug on his toned body. Since when was he built??
“I got my braces off a few years back,” he spoke, running a hand through his unique head of hair. It was longer now, falling past his ears. “Also grew a few inches. I’m taller than Seonghwa now.”
Seonghwa. He was barely a thought in your mind as you looked at the younger brother. You had to admit, you were a bit curious about Seonghwa's whereabouts, and what better than having Mingi right in front of you for the answers.
You took a step closer to him, totally forgetting about the scattered groceries on the ground. “Speaking of seonghwa,” you carried on, getting a bit nervous. “How is he? Is he still around?”
He frowned.
“Oh, he um, he’s working on a business trip in Seoul for the time being. It’s just me and the cat,” he let out a chuckle, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. “My parents went on a trip to some tropical place, I don't know.”
You watched his eyes dance around yours until he bent down to pick up your groceries. “So, it’s just baby Mingi, huh?” you bent down to help him, standing back up after everything was collected.
He nodded, sticking his large hands into the pockets of his jeans. They were a bit baggy on his body, sitting loosely on his hips. You couldn't stop looking at him. Staring at him. You could tear your gaze from him. There was nothing “little” about him anymore, you had no reason to keep that nickname anymore…
Should you call him big mingi? Enormous, large, gigantic, monumentous—
“It’s just me,” he shrugged, handing you the basket. “I go back to school in the fall, so I'm home to take care of the cat and the house.”
You looked around the market, realizing it's getting a bit crowded. You reached out without thinking and gripped onto mingi’s hand, pulling him through the crowd and out towards the exit, setting down your basket before exiting.
“Aren't you gonna get that?” he asked you.
You shook your head, walking further out. You reached a quiet spot, the blue sea visible and the burnt orange sky glistening onto the water.
“Sorry, I should have remembered you don't like crowds,” He murmured, the corner of his lip upturned in a smirk.
You furrowed your eyebrows as you noticed how tan his skin looked. “You remember that?”
He nodded, looking at you with unknown emotions. “Yeah.”
You took a second to collect the thoughts in your mind. You watched him as he looked at you, and your eyes trailed to his lips as he licked them.
Goddamn.
“So you're in college? What are you, a third year?”
“No,” he smiled. “It’s gonna be my last year. History Major.”
You smiled. You did remember how much he loved to learn about history. It always intrigued him to the point of no return. It just makes so much sense that it’s what he chose to do the rest of his life.
He moved his gaze to the ocean, a look of content across that face of his. It felt strange—the feeling when you looked at him. It felt like you barely knew him, even if you spent eighteen years in this place with him by your side for sixteen. Your mothers were best friends growing up, causing you and the boys to grow up together as well.
It was your choice to leave, but it was also your choice to come back, even if the reason to come back was for Mingi’s brother, he wasn't even here anyway. You were strangely okay with that, as mingi offered a source of comfort.
“So, how was New York city?” he asked, his voice deeper than ever. It was hard to imagine that younger self of his now after seeing this version. “Did you meet a city boy with a yacht?”
You laughed, looking out to sea with him. You watched the waves ripple through the sand, the sound music to your ears. “No, sadly. Although that would've been romantic.”
He smiled as you spoke.
Your voice was music to his ears.
You turned towards him when you felt his gaze on you. You didn't notice his ears turn pink.
“Romantic, huh,” he trailed off, biting the inside of cheek. You peered through his eyes, noticing how pretty they were as the orange hues from the sunset reflected onto them. He looked tan–his skin like honey and kissable lips. You were drawn into him like a fish on a hook, and it made you uneasy. You've never felt this way—you were certain it was just the nostalgia.
“So, where are you staying? I saw that your old house was sold,” He said, his eyes sparkling. They reminded you of the sea.
You sighed, looking back to the ocean. It looked prettier than ever—maybe it was because you were with him. “Just in an airbnb until I find my own place,” you hummed, watching the waves crash onto the shore. “Lame, I know.”
He stuck his hands in his pockets, kicking at the rocks on the ground. It was a bit awkward meeting him right away, but something told you it was fate.
Maybe he was your fate.
“It’s not lame, but…”he trailed off, seeming a little nervous. “I mean you could always stay at mine. I know that you used to hate being alone….” he spoke carefully, making sure you were comfortable. “I’m not telling you that you have to–I mean, I must be a stranger to you now but um…If you start to feel lonely, I'll be your company.”
His smile cut through you like a knife. You almost stopped breathing for a second, his kindness overtaking you. You weren't used to men being this friendly without motives. He was genuinely making sure you were okay, and he even remembered how much you hated being alone. Sure, you grew out of that fear, but he didn't need to know that.
You thought about it. You already spent the money for the stay, but maybe you could cut it short. This summer would be more fun with him, anyway.
“That sounds nice,” you smiled, fixing the strap of your sundress. “I’ll have to see if I can cut my stay time. I’d rather not spend the money if I don't need to.”
He laughed. It sounded so sweet. “I um, yeah. Think about it and let me know.”
Silence enveloped you both. The air felt smooth and easy to breathe, and you couldn't remember the last time you truly felt at ease. The gears in your mind started to turn, thinking about writing about this moment—he could be the perfect inspiration for a summer romance novel.
Fuck the airbnb, it was time to make a bestselling book.
“Actually,” you rubbed your elbow anxiously as you tried to form the right words in your mind. “I’ll get my stuff out of there tonight, if that’s okay with you.”
His eyes lit up like he was shocked you wanted to stay with him. You didn't want to tell him the reason for your quick response, but he had to know how beautiful he was. He seemed like the perfect protagonist—salty hair and tanned skin, his heart upon his sleeve—you were already planning on the plot as you looked at him.
So perfect.
“How much stuff do you have? I can help.”
You watched as Mingi lifted your suitcase into the back of his sleek SUV, dusting off his hands after shutting the trunk. It was unusual to see him so…manly. He was always such a lanky string bean, and now, your mind and heart had a hard time understanding his change.
He looked back to you, opening the passenger door for you to get in. “Only one suitcase? Were you planning on only staying a few days?” He asked you as you got in, holding his hand out to prevent you bumping your head.
To be fair, you had a moving truck ready for all your stuff when you were able to find a place to move in to. You weren't sure how long it would take you to find a place, and you were secretly hoping that your old house was up for sale.
“No, I'll be here permanently after I find an actual home,” you laughed, settling into the car.
He sat in the driver's seat then, and as he drove away, you watched how his fingers wrapped around the wheel ever so slightly. You wanted to touch his hand. Hold his hand. You wanted to touch more than his hand.
Dear god, these thoughts have to stop, or you might do something you regret.
The house was just as beautiful as it was years ago—flowers lining up the walkway to the brick steps. You smiled as you saw a cute little orange cat in the window.
Mingi rolled the suitcase behind him, chuckling as he saw your enjoyment. “There's my baby,” he cooed, and your heart fluttered for a moment too long. You knew he wasn't talking to you, but you kind of wished he was.
Once you both reached the door, he moved close to you to open the door. You felt your heart race as his shoulder bumped into yours.
You watched the cat jump out of the window when it noticed Mingi.
He opened the door, hinting at you to enter first. You were immediately welcomed by the whimsical orange cat, who rubbed against your legs like it’s seen you before. You've never met such a friendly cat. You wanted to steal it.
“Ah, that’s Clementine. I just call her tiny,” he reached down to pet his sweetheart of a cat, and she meowed at his touch. “Awe Hi tiny girl. I promise I’ll feed you something tasty–ah, be nice, we have a special guest.”
Just by the way he treated the cat made you feel at home. He looked over to you, and all you wanted to do was brush the stray hairs away from those kind eyes of his.
You looked around the beach house, gazing at the picture frames that were scattered along the walls. Everything felt the same, as if it were never moved. It was nice to see his family still intact—even if they weren't all together physically. It was like a breath of fresh air.
“You can sleep in the guest room. No one’s ever used it,” he smiled at you, making his way to the steps, picking up your heavy suitcase with ease. “I just hope you'll be comfortable.”
“Oh, anything is better than that overpriced airbnb,” you giggled, following him up the stairs.
You trailed behind him as he walked down the upstairs hallway, turning into a pale orange room. The walls were barren, but the bed was made nicely. It was almost bigger than your full studio apartment in NYC, you were grateful for that.
You so didn't have to be here right now.
You took a mind note on how inviting he was, making sure you add that characteristic to your love interest.
“If you need anything, let me know. I’m here for you.”
Fucking hell, he had a way with words.
He started to walk out of the room, but he peeked his head back for a moment. “Oh, my friends are coming over tonight, if you don't mind.”
Friends? Little mingi was a social butterfly now?
You nodded, unable to hide your happiness for him. “Of course, it’s not my place to argue with that, anyway,” you mumbled, unzipping your suitcase to start to unpack. “Oh, and when is seonghwa coming back? It would be awkward if he just showed up while i’m here.”
His smile fell for a second, but he brought it right back. “Oh, um. In three weeks or so,” he murmured, clearing his throat slightly. “I’m sure he’d be happy to see you, y/n.”
You smiled to yourself, but in your heart, you felt not one, but two of the brothers stirring around. You were used to one, but having the two of them in your heart felt heavy. You had to think with your mind instead, anyway.
You were sure that you’d be happy to see Seonghwa, but right now, you were content with Mingi. He felt like the only person in the world, and you craved that type of comfort.
You snapped awake when you suddenly heard a loud thump from downstairs, followed by a bit of laughing. You jumped out of the bed quickly, just in case mingi hurt himself. You didn't want to baby him, you were sure he was having a blast with his friends, but you couldn't help but worry. It was instilled in your mind ever since you were younger—he was always breaking things.
You stumbled down the steps and made your way into the living room. “Mingi? Is everything okay—” you stopped in your tracks as you noticed three more sets of eyes than normal.
“Ah, who’s this, hyung?” one of the boys hummed flirtatiously. “Your girlfriend?”
“Stop it Wooyoung, can you ever be serious?” the other one said with irritation laced through his smooth voice.
“Why else would there be a girl here at midnight?”
“Uh, hello,” you looked at Mingi, who was smiling at you with slight embarrassment. You weren't sure how to introduce yourself, so you prayed that he would do it for you.
He furrowed his eyebrows for a minute, then looked over to his two friends. “Guys, this is Y/N. She's an old friend of mine and Seonghwa.”
“Ah, I see,” the brown haired boy nodded, a mischievous smirk on his face. You had to admit, every person in this room looked like they were pulled out of a novel. It was hard to know which one to look at. “So, why are you here….this late?”
“Oh I—”
“She’s staying here with me,” Mingi shrugged confidently, flashing you a comforting smile.
You stared at him. Something in your heart just shifted.
“Anyway, Y/N, these are my friends, Wooyoung and San. and I’m sorry if I woke you, I accidentally tripped on the carpet.”
You chuckled. Ah, same old Mingi.
You offered a smile to his friends, and you turned to Mingi, who wouldn't take his eyes off you. “Oh, alright. Just be careful,” you yawed, giving them a little goodbye before trudging up the steps and back into your comfy bed.
You heard them laugh and carry on as you tried to fall back asleep, smiling at how happy Mingi seemed. It was nice to see him again, and even though it was by chance that you ran into him at the market, you haven't felt this comfortable in ages. It was healthy—so unlike your past relationship while you lived in new york.
You dreamed of Mingi—who felt like a warm summer night.
The week passed quickly. Staying with Mingi came with routines, and every morning you woke up, he’d have a plate of food ready for you on the table. He wasn't so sure about what kind of food you liked now, but his effort was what made it count.
He was gone most of the time before you were even awake. He helped the grannies at the market every morning, making sure they weren't carrying anything heavy. He was the kindest soul you've ever known, and your mind started to wonder why you never thought of him in any other way other than a brother.
Mingi still wasn't home as the sun set on the horizon, and you started to worry if he was okay. He definitely was, but you had a habit of making up the worst possible situations in your mind.
Thunder boomed loudly, nearly shaking the house. You let out a yelp, holding onto yourself as it startled you. You were never fond of thunderstorms; they always scared the shit out of you. The minute another boom rang through, you ran up the steps to take shelter under your blankets. Clementine sat at the edge of your bed, not even budging as you moved around.
You didn't know why you were so scared of it, maybe it was because it was thundering the day your dad left. It was deeper than just a little fear, but it still didn't take away the embarrassment of being scared of something so typical—especially at your dinosaur age.
You heard the roar of an engine pull into the driveway, the sound of the rain pitter-pattering against the car. You slid out of the bed to peeke out the window, feeling relief wash over you as you noticed it was Mingi.
You rushed out of the room in your pajamas, running down the stairs and into the kitchen to act like you weren't scared of anything. After pouring some juice into a mug, you heard the front door open, followed by the squeak of wet shoes.
“Y/N?” his soft voice called. “Are you down here?”
You swallowed the sip of juice, nearly choking on your words. “I’m in the kitchen!” you called out to him, cradling the cup tightly as another boom of thunder erupted.
You squeezed your eyes shut, and opened them as if nothing was wrong when he entered the room.
He seemed cautious, like he already knew you were scared. Maybe he did, and you found it cute how much he remembered about you. It almost made you feel lacking, since you could barely remember anything about him.
“Are you alright?” he asked you softly, taking a step closer to you.
His hair was soaked, a shade darker than normal. He walked closer and closer until he was an arms length away. Close enough to see the raindrops in his eyelashes.
God, he was so pretty.
“Yeah,” you gulped, squeezing the cup in your hands. “Just peachy.”
He frowned, looking down at your hands. To your surprise, he reached out, sliding his hands around yours. “Let go, I know how you feel about thunderstorms, y/n.”
Your eyes widened as he took the mug from your hands, replacing it with his own.
You paused, looking down at his hand in yours. “Why…why do you remember so much?” you whispered, watching as his thumb rubbed your knuckle. He was so gentle, you weren't used to it.
He laughed at that, but didn't answer your question. What he did do was tilt your chin up with his free hand, making your heart beat faster than the thunder made it.
“It’s late. You should get some sleep,” he smiled gorgeously, tearing at your heart more and more. There was just something about his demeanor that made you want to jump his bones right then and there, but the other thing was…that you really just wanted to keep holding his hand.
He didn't let go as you walked back up the steps and into the room, but stopped in your tracks as thunder ran through again and again.
“Um, goodnight, I guess.” with all your strength, you pulled your hand out of his hold. It seemed like he didn't want to let go.
You got yourself comfy in the bed while he stood in the doorway. He sighed as he looked at you, and then looked over to the windowsill, where clementine was sleeping peacefully. “Should I…stay?” he mumbled. You barely heard him.
Your heart pounded in your chest as he stared at you across the room. It was dead silence, the only thing making noise was the rain pounding against the roof.
You took a second to respond. Unable to form words, you nodded, and he took a step further into the room, shutting off the light before walking towards the edge of the bed. He hesitated, and went to lay onto the floor.
“No, don't lay on the cold floor, Mingi,” you huffed out, reaching out to grab his arm to stop him. You let out a shaky breath. “Just…sleep up here with me.”
He swallowed hard, looking down at the hand that held his wrist. After a second, he nodded, slipping under the covers next to you.
He laid stiffly on his back and his eyes trained to the ceiling, but after a large bolt of lightning and a bang of thunder, he reached to hold onto you, tucking your head into his chest. You were honestly just fine with having him by your side, but he was caring enough to hold you like this. It kind of made you want to cry—you haven't been held in ages.
“Shh, it’s alright,” he hummed into your ear softly, resting his head on top of yours. One arm was wrapped around your waist, the other cradling your head. His soft breaths hit your skin, offering a cozy feeling you weren't sure you've ever felt.
He held you all night, making sure you were alright, even when the rain stopped.
You fell asleep in his arms, never feeling this safe before.
You woke up to the sound of birds chirping from outside the window. Letting out a sleepy yawn, you tried to move, but you were held down by someone’s strong hold.
You opened your eyes then, peeking through the sleepiness to come face to face with a sleeping Mingi, whose lips were slightly parted with drool pooling at the corner of his mouth.
How cute.
Not knowing what to do or if you should do anything at all, you took a second to admire his features. His expression was relaxed, his hair was scattered over his face, and his lips looked as soft as ever. You wanted to reach out and touch them.
So you did; without even thinking.
The tips of your fingertips brushed against his smooth lips, causing you to blink slowly in wonder. It was as if it were the first time you've touched anyone—it wasn't, but he made it feel that way. He captivated you unlike any other, and it made no sense to both your heart and mind.
His eyes opened slowly, meeting your lost gaze. You didn't move. You kept his sleepy stare, lost in the sparkle in his eyes. He was so…pretty. It caused a stir in your heart the more you looked at him. It scared you, but you were too far gone at this point.
He blinked at you as if he couldn't believe you were real. Maybe you were a dream to him the same way he was a dream to you at this moment.
You didn't pull your hand away—you just left it resting on his parted lips like it belonged there. He didn't move it or say anything, and you were too caught up in him to think about anything else.
“Good morning, y/n,” he hummed roughly, his sweet morning voice music to your ears.
You took a second to respond, lost in the thoughts of his beauty. “Morning,” you said, looking down at his lips one more time before letting go.
He watched you back away slightly, but his arm was still tossed on top of you. You watched a smile appear on that beautiful face of his, and you were unable to move any further. It was as if he put a spell on you like some sort of witch—he had a hold on you, physically and mentally, even if you didn't want to admit it.
As the memories of last night flooded into your mind, you offered him a sheepish glance. “Uh, I’m sorry about last night. I’m sorry you had to sleep…in the same bed as…me,” you stuttered out, but he just laid there with a slight smirk. He was even more attractive in the morning. It felt so domestic, like you were in a relationship with him. Maybe he’d bring you breakfast in bed when you’d be sick. Possibly hold you every night without the thunder being the reason behind it. He would kiss you when—
“No, I liked it, actually,” He smiled sweetly, shutting his eyes as he yawned. You wanted to kiss him right then and there.
All right, that's enough of those thoughts now.
Sitting up on the bed, you glanced at him through your eyelashes. “What do you mean?” you wanted to know so bad, but you had a feeling it was just something simple that you over thought about.
“I mean that I enjoyed sleeping with you,” he hummed huskily, but you caught the worry in his eyes as the words left his lips. “I mean, sleeping next to you, not with you. I guess technically I slept with you, but not in the sexual—”
You interrupted him with a laugh. He was too cute. “Mingi, I understand. No need to try and explain it.”
“I just didn't want you to get the wrong idea,” he sat up with you, his back against the wooden headboard. His hair was a mess; you wanted to fix it. “I just–it’s not like I wouldnt want to sleep with you sexually because I would totally want to do that but–” he stopped himself, sighing when he realized what he just said. You watched his ears turn pink. “I’ll just stop talking now.”
You tried to hide your own blush at those words. If anyone else said that, you'd be smacking them to the moon. This time, however, you wanted him to keep talking. You wanted him to tell you all the things he wanted to do to you.
You ignored the pounding of your heart and gave him a slight smile before sliding off the bed. Clementine was standing at the door, meowing like crazy. She was probably hungry. “I’ll go feed tiny,” you glanced over your shoulder to see a sulking Mingi slumped over.
He didn't say anything as you walked out the room, but as soon as the door shut, he threw himself around in the sheets that now smelled like you.
As you poured clementine's delicious food into her bowl, you heard Mingi come up from behind you. He entered the kitchen like some kind of gremlin, his shoulders hunched and bags under his sparkling eyes. You snickered, standing up straight after giving tiny a little pet.
“You okay? You look like you got mauled by a tiger,” you snarked, to which he replied with a half smile. He walked towards the fridge and grabbed the eggs, setting them down on the kitchen island.
Even the morning looked good on him. God, you were getting different versions of the same man you once thought was a boy, confusing your heart more and more. Was it a crime to find him attractive? No, hell no. but it sure felt like you were committing one as you dreamed of him rather than seonghwa.
“What’s Seonghwa's job now? I haven't even thought about asking that,” you leaned up on the counter while mingi pulled out a pan from the cupboard. “I’m sure he’s some crazy smart businessman or something,” you laughed, but Mingi didn't think it was funny.
He turned on the stove burner. “He is, actually,” Mingi sniffed, running a hand through his hair while he cracked the eggs into the pan. “How many eggs do you wa—”
“I always pictured him in a suit,” you sighed as you thought about how hot he would look in a suit, when all of a sudden, it changed to an image of Mingi. His lean figure stood tall, the imaginary tailored suit clung to his silhouette. He was so beautiful, so so beautiful. You could say that a million times and you would still believe it.
Mingi watched the delusions shadow your expression, and little did he know you were imagining him and not his brother.
“He looks like an alien in them. Like a fucking string bean,” he growled, plucking out a spatula from the holder. He aggressively tossed around the eggs in the pan, and then waltzed over to the fridge to grab the leftover rice. “And you didn't answer my question on how many eggs you wanted, y/n.”
The tone of his voice was sharp; it cut like a knife right through you. You wondered if he took offense to the fact that you would think about his brother, but you shook the crazy thought away and changed the subject, standing up from your lean.
“I’ll have two. And can you put cheese on it for me?”
He didn't turn around to look at you. He just nodded, and rummaged through the fridge for the cheese.
The room was quiet. Too quiet. Mingi was usually quite loud and playful, and you wondered why the change of temperament. “Do you want to go out with me today?”
Mingi choked on nothing at those words, having a coughing fit. You almost grabbed him a drink, but he caught his breath fairly quickly and turned to look at you as he piled the eggs on a plate. “W-what? Go out with you?”
You smirked. “Yeah. like a date, but not a date,” now you were just teasing him.
Mingi stared at you with wide eyes, the sleepiness completely wiped away. “Uh, sure. Yeah. What are you planning on?”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“I’m not going up there.”
You both stood at the bottom of a mountain, ready for a hike up it. You were never really an athletic person, but you always wanted to try and do a hike to see if you could do it. Mingi was not having it, backing away towards his car as if he wasn't the one that drove here.
“Mingi, please?” you pleaded with puppy dog eyes, almost cringing at yourself for your actions. “It'll be fun, I promise.”
Mingi scoffed, crossing his toned arms over his chest. You kept getting distracted by him since he decided to sport a cutoff shirt that revealed quite a bit of skin. It made you want to see more. “What do I get out of this?”
You smirked, hooking him in. “Hmm. How about drinks on me? At the bar downtown?”
You saw the sparkle in his eye, knowing that he’d cave at that. And he did.
You began your trek up the rocky mountain, your feet already starting to burn from the scolding terrain.
“I told you it was a bad idea,” Mingi groaned, sweat dripping down his face. You watched as his smooth skin shined brightly under the sun, feeling a spark go off in your heart.
You huffed as your legs started to get tired. “No,” huff. “It’s a great,” huff. “Experience.”
Mingi scoffed at that, looking ten times better than you after a bit of time. He kept looking over at you every chance he got, but he was still more quiet than usual.
Well, until now.
“Do you still like my brother?” he broke all the walls you put up with one little question.
You stopped mid stride, looking up at the cloudy sky as you thought about the answer. You always dreaded this conversation with him ever since you were a kid, but you never knew Mingi knew. “You knew that I liked him?”
Mingi stopped too, slightly ahead of you. You were about halfway up the mountain with no other hikers in sight. “To be fair, y/n, you didn't really hide it. I think the only person who didn't know was Seonghwa himself,” he sighed as a single raindrop fell between you.
Maybe you should've checked the weather.
You frowned, furrowing your eyebrows. “I uh, well, I did like him—”
“I know that. Do you still do? He asked sternly, taking a step closer.
You looked straight into his eyes. It was an easy question—super easy, actually. Your heart knew the answer as soon as it was asked, but for some reason, you couldn't form the words on your tongue. You wanted to tell him that Seonghwa was barely on your mind since you ran into him. You wanted to tell him that you didn't want to look at anything else now that you saw him. You didn't want to think of anything else.
“I…” The rain began to fall around you like tiny shards, and as it started to speed up, you changed the subject as quickly as you could and turned the other way. “We should head back, it's starting to get bad.”
Mingi didn't say anything. As you frantically moved down the mountain to escape confrontation you could easily solve, your foot got caught between a rock, causing you to fall down and tumble slightly. You let out a yelp as your ankle cracked, and the sharpness of the rocks cut up your legs slightly.
“Y/n!” Mingi let out, completely forgetting that he was going to tell you to forget your feelings. “Are you okay? Ah No—don't get up, just give yourself a second.”
You groaned, but more so because of how embarrassing that was. You put your head down and let out a hiss as you tried to move your ankle. “I think I sprained it or something.”
Mingi sighed, kneeling in front of you as the rain pounded on you both. He looked at your beat up legs, and then peered at you through his eyelashes. Without a word, he stood up and turned around with his back to you, hinting at you to get on.
You tilted your head at him, although he couldn't see you. “Just get on, I'll carry you,” he softly said, and you heard the sweetness drip from his lips. The same lips you were dying to kiss.
You leaped onto his broad back, wrapping your arms around his neck tightly. You heard his breath hitch as your hands touched the bare skin of his collarbone, and you nearly got the wind knocked out of you as his hands gripped your thighs to hold you up.
“Thank you,” you mumbled into his ear while he walked down the mountain in the pouring rain, his two-toned hair soaking wet against your cheek. “And I'm sorry for the crappy date.”
“Don't be sorry, y/n,” he hummed, leaning his head against yours as he walked. You were worried that he might slip on the rocks, but he managed to walk like they were dry. He gripped your legs tightly, afraid to drop you as if you were as precious as glass.
He treasured you the way a museum treasured its art.
The rest of the way was quiet. He lifted you into the car and leaned over to put your seatbelt on. He smelled like acid rain and sweat with a hint of vanilla; it stirred something inside you. His wet hair dripped down on you as he tried to get the seatbelt in and oh, the dirty thoughts swimming around your mind.
You were in such a haze that you didn't even realize that he shut the door and was now on the other side of the car. You tried to steady your breaths—in and out, in and out—until he entered the car with you.
“Are we still going to the bar? I need a drink,” you muttered.
He shook his head, running a hand through his dripping hair. “No, we’ll just drink at home. You need rest.”
Home. Home. your heart began to bang in your chest. You had no words to utter, and he drove home quietly, stopping to grab a bag full of soju and beer at the corner convenience store.
The rest of the ride was a blur. He stopped the car in the driveway, running to your side before you tried to get out without help. He picked you up and carried you into the home as if you were married to him, setting you down on the couch softly, afraid to hurt you. You were fine other than the slight ache and cuts, but he didn't need to know that. Right?
“I’ll be right back in with the alcohol,” he hummed, leaving you alone in the dark room. The sun was setting slowly, and you didn't realize how long you were actually out on your date.
Date. you wished you would've just told him your true feelings. You hoped you didn't ruin it.
Mingi waltzed in with the alcohol bag, Clementine trailing him happily. She jumped up onto the couch next to you, but only nudged your head slightly before jumping up and into the window.
You smiled at Mingi as he sat at the edge of the couch. He reached to pull your shoes off, and walked over to set them down at the entryway.
Your eyes followed his every move, already feeling like you were under the influence. He came back with a first aid kit and sat down in front of you. You smiled as he cleaned your wounds, blowing at them gently before covering them with bandages. He was so gentle, it once again caused you to think what he would be like in bed.
The room was quiet. The only sound was both of your breaths tangling in the air. He was so close yet so far, and all you wanted was to cross the distance. You were way too sober to even try.
He looked up at you then, a slight smile on his face.
“Ready to get fucked up?”
One drink. Two drinks. Three. Four. you were completely obliterated—there was no way you were going to remember this tomorrow.
“You're telling me that he dumped you because you touched his hair?” Mingi slurred, leaning towards you with a grimace. “Thats so fucked up.”
“He was like, my hair is sacred, no one can touch it except my mother.”
He nearly spit out his drink. “Pfft, his mother??”
You were both on the floor of the living room, leaning up against the couch, lost in random drunken words and sober thoughts. You were telling him about the messy flings you had as a college student, and when you asked him if he had any, he shrugged and laughed it off and said he had a few. You expected more than just a few.
“His mother was the only woman for him, Mingi. Duh,” you smirked, totally lost in your words.
His laugh nearly shook the room, his head tossed back as he cackled. You watched his adam's apple bob as he let out his enjoyment—he laughed so hard that no noise left his lips, and you couldn't help but giggle at that.
“Mingi!” you giggled, slapping his thigh playfully as he laughed silently. Oh, he was painfully wasted. “What kind of laugh is that? I swear to god there's something wrong with you.”
He calmed down at that, but he was still smiling from ear to ear, lifting his head back from the uncomfortable position he was in.
“Are you making fun of me?” he drunkenly teased, leaning towards you slightly. You saw the strength of his gaze—it pierced right through you. He looked irritated and playful at the same time.
You leaned in, too. “Maybe,” you smirked, looking down at his dewy lips flavored with alcohol. “Hey, it's cute! I promise I'm laughing because it’s cute.” you giggled, but his lips were still downturned.
You furrowed your eyebrows at him, and picked up the nearly empty bottle of soju. He paid strong attention to your movements, especially as you took the bottle up to your lips, causing him to lick his own.
“You never answered my question,” he pondered, still looking at your lips.
“Question?” you slurred, getting the last drops of the apple flavored soju onto your tongue.
He swallowed hard. “If you still like my brother,” he sniffed, picking up his bottle. “I mean, I think I know the answer, so I don't even wanna—”
“Mingi—”
“Like, it’s always been him. I’ve only ever watched you guys on the sidelines like some shitty benchwarmer or something I swear to god–”
“Mingi please let me talk—”
“I mean to be fair I was a literal child so I get it, but now I—”
“I don't like Seonghwa anymore,” you nearly yelled, causing Clementine to make an appearance by your pile of empty bottles. She rubbed up against one, knocking it over as you focused on the speechless man in front of you. “Ugh. finally. I thought you would never shut up.”
He froze, now just realizing how close you were. You were able to see the little specks of light brown in his irises. You were way too far gone to hold yourself back from anything—and your writer self thought that this would be a great scene in that story of yours.
“So…um…would that mean that you might, um,” he stuttered, his leg shaking anxiously while you smiled at his expression. “That you might think of me in a not so friendly type of way?
You chuckled, watching his eyes grow darker. You looked down at his parted lips now.
“You have pretty lips.”
He furrowed his brows now, looking as confused as ever. “What are you trying to say? He asked, setting down the bottle that was in his hands.
His hair was dry now, which was a shame since you really liked how he looked with wet hair. His lips looked even more kissable than they did five minutes ago.
You shrugged, drunk off your ass. “I mean, you could just kiss me. Or I could kiss you. Either way, it’s what I meant.”
He just stared at you with wide eyes. He didn't make any movement towards you, once again like he didn't want to hurt you or make you feel inferior.
You smiled at his awestruck look. “Do I need to spell it out for you? Me. you. kiss. I–want–to–kiss–you. Mwah.”
Again, just a piercing stare. He licked his lips though, and looked down at yours.
After a few moments of uneasy silence, you couldn't take it anymore.
 “You know what? Fuck it.”
You leaned as close as you could to him and grabbed the back of his neck. His eyes were about to pop out of his head, but the minute your lips neared his, he shut them softly, letting you press your lips to his.
Oh, did it feel like fireworks were going off in the middle of your body. Your heart began to race, feeling like it would pound right out of your chest. His lips melted into yours like honey, and his hands found a home on your hips.
He pulled back slightly, your breaths tangling together.
“Can I really kiss you?” he asked in disbelief, as if you didn't just share saliva. “Is it really what you want?”
“Mingi,” you sighed, moving closer until you were sitting on his lap. He let out a little gasp as you felt the hardness of him underneath you. Sitting on his lap barely got you to eye-level with him, since he was so tall compared to you. He tried to breathe, but his breath was shaky. “I wouldnt of kissed you if I didn't want to.”
“Ah,” he gulped, biting his lip nervously. “My bad, but I’ve just been dreaming about that since I was four, so to be fair, I need a moment.”
You smiled at the man in front of you like he was your world. You couldn't help but lean forward and give him a peck really quick, to which he responded fairly quickly.
You did it again, and again, and again. This time, he gripped your waist and held you to his body with one arm while his other hand gripped your jaw. It caught you off guard—was he the same mingi who needed a moment to process a kiss just a minute ago?
“If you do that again, I’m gonna be tempted to do more than just kiss you, y/n.”
Dear god, his voice. It rumpled right through you, but what really got you was how serious he was. The look on his face made you feel like he was about to maul you like some sort of predator, and you were merely his choice of dinner.
Oh, you were ready to be torn apart—you were drunk and delirious, after all.
You met his gaze for a moment too long, and then you reached out to wrap your arms around his neck. Pulling yourself up to his lips, you kissed them softly, breaking open his own to slide your tongue into his mouth. He tasted like apple soju and smelled like vanilla and sweat; a perfect combination.
It felt like your first kiss. It meant more than any other kiss. He held you so tenderly, caressing your back as he kissed you back with all the love in his heart. You smiled into the kiss as your mind wandered back to how he confessed to liking you for ages, even if it was a bit hazy from the alcohol.
You hoped you'd remember this in the morning. You wanted to treasure this moment.
You let out a shaky breath as you kissed his lips, feeling like you were getting high from him as if he were a drug. His hands began to snake up your top, gliding over the soft skin of your stomach, reaching your ribs.
You shivered at his touch in a good way, ready to rip off your shirt for him. You wanted to tear his right off his body, but you held yourself back for the sake of not ruining the mood just in case.
Subconsciously, you began to roll your hips into his. He gripped onto them as if his life depended on it, and you bet he left fingernail marks into your skin. His hot breaths hit you in the face as he pulled away to catch his breath, looking down at your hips crashing into his.
He leaned his forehead against your head, unable to pace his breathing. You weren't any better, especially with the way you could feel his arousal right underneath yours. Oh, dear god, you were completely lost in his touch. In his gaze. In his movements.
The little brother was now much more of a man than you ever imagined, completely forgetting about the one you made an effort to come back to.
Now, at this moment, when he groaned as he rocked your hips into his for you, your mind exploded in thoughts about him. The way he moved you into him was so effortlessly hot, and the way his face scrunched up when you grasped a handful of his hair in response.
It felt like you were drowning. Maybe you were. But you needed more than just this.
You needed all of him.
“M-mingi,” you whispered breathlessly as his lips sucked on your neck.
“Hm?” he moaned right into the skin of your neck, still rocking your hips into his.
Your eyes nearly rolled into the back of your head. You couldn't even think about the words you wanted to say—they aren't important anymore.
What was important was the way your body spoke for you.
Your fingertips brushed against the hem of his t-shirt, curling around it in pleasure. You pulled it up slightly, and without a word, he gave you a nod to take it off of him.
You pulled the shirt over his head, a smirk on your face as you looked at his toned waist. You ran a hand down the ripples of muscle, not noticing the entranced look Mingi was giving you.
He fiddled with the end of your shirt, and met your eyes before doing anything hasty. You smiled and nodded, and he gently took the top off with affection. He smiled back at you, leaning in to bump his forehead with yours with a slight chuckle.
You leaned in again, kissing him with a bit more power than before. Your stomach flipped as he grasped the back of your head with one hand, his other sliding down your neck to meet your chest, gripping your breast softly through your sports bra.
He spared no time in burying his head in the crook of your neck, biting and sucking like no tomorrow. You were way too drunk to realize how sloppy you both were, but in the moment, it was blissful. It felt like the very first time, and in your mind, you wanted it to be. You kind of regretted how you thought he was nothing but the brother of your crush. Well, now, that was now reversed.
“It’s either I fuck you down here on the couch,” he mumbled into your lips. “Or I’m carrying you up to my bed.”
You nearly melted into a puddle. Who knew he was like this? Was it the alcohol?
“Bed,” you moaned into his neck, biting his earlobe. “I want to be in your bed.”
“Goddammit.”
He nearly growled as you said those words, gripping the back of your thighs before standing up straight with you. You held onto him tightly while he wobbled up the steps drunkenly. You hoped this wasn't going to be some type of intoxicated mistake in his eyes, but in yours, you had nothing to regret. There was nothing holding you back.
He held you tightly as he walked up the stairs of his beach house, unable to wait any longer. As soon as he entered his room, he set you down gently on the bed. “Is your ankle okay?” he asked, making sure he wasn't manhandling you—it was quite the opposite.
To be fair, you completely forgot about the pain in your ankle. It was the least of your worries as the beautiful man stood above you while you laid flat on his bed.
“Just come here.”
It took a second for him to process that you were laying in his bed, ready for him to do absolutely anything to you. He stared down at you for a moment, eyes raking over your half-naked body. He couldn't get enough of you—you were his dream. So now that you were in his bed? Well, he wasn't so sure where to go with it.
But you did.
“Mingi,” you sighed, meeting his intoxicated gaze. “Just please come here.”
He looked lost, as if he didn't want to do anything rashly. Maybe a bit of the alcohol wore off, as his eyes looked like he wasn't sure how he ended up here. He hesitated as he looked you up from head to toe, but once you saw the slight smirk peek from his lips, you knew what was next.
He leaned over you on the bed, giving you a kiss as his body pressed flat against yours. As the moment sped up with your hands in his hair and his on your chest, he finally slid the bra off in one swipe, catching you off guard.
He took a second to admire your beauty, then gave you another kiss, letting out a breath as he began to kiss you from your lips, to your collarbone, then meeting your breasts. He nibbled at your nipple slightly, causing you to gasp in pleasure.
You wanted to moan out his name. Cry out for him. At this moment, all you saw was him and the friendly sparkle in his eyes—although now they looked more like the devil’s.
He sat up for a moment to undo the tie on his shorts, allowing you to pull them off of him to reveal his length that you were aching to have inside of you. He was bigger than you even imagined, although you had taken a bit of time to actually acknowledge how much he has grown since you last remembered him. He was more than anything you could imagine, and now the brother you used to think about was only a distant memory in your mind.
After he was fully undressed, his eyes looked devilish. He leaned over you once again, knocking you onto your back with force. His chain necklace hit your face as his hands caressed your curves, meeting the waistband of your pants. He slid them down your hips, and you lifted yourself up slightly to help him out. The minute he got them off, he was back to feeling you up with a lovestruck look on his face.
“You're so beautiful,” he whispered, leaning his forehead against yours as he hovered above you. “So beautiful that it hurts.” he kissed your forehead at that, leaving your heart spiraling.
You smiled up at his gorgeous face, watching his eyes dance with curiosity. He looked nervous, like he’s never done this before. You knew that he had, but it was his first time with you, atleast. It was an overwhelming thought—this man had longed for you while you longed for his brother. You wanted to prove to him that it was only him in your eyes and heart.
He looked down at your heat and then back up to your eyes, a shy expression on his beautiful features. “Can I…make love to you?”
It was the fact that he asked so respectively that nearly made you squirm under his hold. Not the fact that you were about to get fucked or the fact of his body over yours, but the slight worry in his tone made you want to share your life with him. You nodded without a word, allowing him to begin to enter you. He lined himself up against you, lifting your legs up to put them up on his chest. He gripped your thighs tightly as he slid into you, slowly beginning to thrust with each moment. Your senses began to heighten as your walls collapsed for him, all you could hear was the pitter patter of rain and the tangled breaths between you and him both.
His breath was shaky as he pumped in and out of you, letting out small moans whenever he looked at you. You scrunched your eyebrows in pleasure as he started to move faster and faster, crying out as his fingernails pierced through the skin of your thigh.
“You have no idea how much I wanted this,” he said breathlessly as he moved gracefully.
You were sure the alcohol in your system was long gone, considering how realistic this all was. You saw his eyes glimmer. You felt his heart pound. You saw beads of sweat drip down his neck. You saw the smile he let out as he looked down at you. You were his everything—and now you were one, sharing the same body and moving together like waves of the ocean.
As you were getting closer to your high, he flipped you around quickly, tossing you into your back with no struggle. He slid right back into you, causing you to moan at his strength. “Mingi,” you moaned, lost in the sea of his movements.
He grunted, fucking you harder and harder as you moaned more and more. “Fuck, I love it when you moan my name,” he hissed, gripping your hips as he pounded into you.
He nuzzled his head against yours as he moved, and you got wetter by the minute. You've never felt this way with any other man, and as you reached your high, he bit your earlobe from the back and gripped your hair, tugging it slightly as you began to see stars.
His breaths became shallower, his heartbeat picked up speed. He noticed your state and chuckled seductively in your ear. “Ah, you like that, hm?” His laugh was smooth. “No more making fun of my laugh, huh?”
You had no words for him. He already knew the answer. But when you came all over his dick, he thrusted into you even deeper, causing you to grip at the silk sheets underneath you.
It was as if you put a spell on him. The minute you came, he couldn't hold it in anymore. He let out a sharp breath as he shoved himself inside you, harder and harder, throwing his head back like he was possessed. You were sure your knuckles were turning white as you gripped onto the pillow that your head rested on. He bucked his hips for the last time, emptying himself into you before crashing down onto your back and rolling to the side of you.
The room was spinning, you never even gave yourself a chance to look around to see the detail of his room. You were sure there were lots of unique things tied to the unique mingi, but you couldn't focus on anything but the man beside you.
His chest rose and fell like the sun, glistening with sweat like the morning dew. He was the most beautiful thing you've ever seen, and even as you fought to keep your eyes open after that eventful experience, you reached out to wrap your arms around his waist, throwing yourself into the comfort of his embrace.
You were already asleep when he whispered his adoration with a kiss on the forehead, tucking you under the blankets with him as your pillow.
It wasn't the first time you woke up to him, and you hoped it wouldn't be the last. His warm sleepy breaths hit your face in the daylight, and you opened your eyes to see mingi in all his glory, soft snores escaping his lips. The same lips that claimed your own the night before.
Despite your drunkenness last night, you remembered everything in detail, including the way the nightlight in the corner of his room glowed as you drifted off to sleep in his arms. It was a bit domestic, much more realistic than any type of sexual encounter you’ve had in the past. You didn't want to ever have another encounter like that if it wasn't with mingi…
As you were lost in your thoughts, you didn't notice how affectionately Mingi was looking at you through his sleepy eyes.
“Good morning,” you hummed, suddenly feeling a bit insecure in his hold. He has now seen every part of you in every way, and he was no longer the brother of your friend. He was no longer just a friendly face—he was now your lover.
“Hi,” he smiled, his voice raspy. You watched his gaze deepen as he looked at your eyes, then your nose, then your lips. The corners of his mouth turned up when he saw you yawn. “Are you still tired?”
You didn't want to tell him that the alcohol—and the sex—wore you out completely, but he wasn't the type to really inflate his ego. He would probably blush and hide his face into your chest, and even though it would've been cute to see, you shook your head no.
“I’m wide awake now,” you chuckled as he stared at you lovingly. You looked down at his smooth lips, getting flashbacks from how amazing they felt on yours. You leaned blinked at him for a second, until you leaned over and pecked them quickly. You didn't want him smelling your morning breath.
Just as you were about to escape from his arms to go brush your teeth, he gripped you by the waist to pull you to him, causing you to hold your breath as his face neared yours. “No, you're not just gonna kiss me and leave like that,” he tilted his head playfully, then gripped the side of your face before bringing his lips to yours.
“Wait–” kiss. “My morning breath—”
He kissed you again. “I don't care.”
You stopped trying to squirm out of his grip at those words, and you relaxed in his arms while he kissed you through his smile.
He leaned his forehead against yours now. “I love kissing you,” he smiled blissfully, his brown hair covering the smile of his eyes. You reached out to brush it away, tucking it behind his pink ears.
So cute.
You ran your hand down his cheek in adoration of his beauty. You knew you were gonna add this whole situation into your book, but you might have to change some steamy details. “So, do you work at the market today?” you asked him, leaning on your elbows on your side.
He shook his head. “No, but I am planning on doing something today.”
You raised your eyebrows. “Hm? Like what?”
He smirked. You couldn't get used to it.
“You.”
It took you a moment to understand the cheesy joke, and when you did, you gave him a smack on the shoulder and took it as a hint to stand up. It felt like you were together for years, but at the same time, it was as if you had just met. It was dreamlike—straight out of a fictional story. Maybe that was why you were so keen on writing your book about him.
“Okay okay, besides doing you, I would also like to take you on a date,” he mumbled as you stood up, but lost his train of thought as you were completely naked in front of him. “I uh, i forgot what I was saying.”
You tried to hide your insecurity as you stood confidently in front of him. You tossed on his t-shirt and slid on your underwear, making him lose it even more.
“Fucking hell, y/n,” he breathed, staring at you in awe as you wore his shirt.
You slid on your pants then, looking at him mischievously as he sat up in his bed. Clementine was snoring on the edge, offering even more ambiance to the moment. It felt like you were meant to be here with him.
“What?” you tilted your head at him with a smirk. “Are we gonna go on that date or what?”
The sound of crashing waves filled your senses, and the smell of the salty air made memories of your childhood flood into your mind. The memories included Mingi, who would always sit on the sand and watch you and seonghwa from a distance. He was there, but it was always his brother, and not him.
Oh, how the times have changed.
You walked through the sand with Mingi next to you; your yellow sundress flowing in the wind. He wanted to hold your hand—you could tell by the way it twitched towards you. The sky reminded you of his hair, as the clouds looked slightly like stripes. It was a beautiful day.
The orange hues of the sky also reminded you of the day you ran into him, and you remembered how you felt when you first saw him.
Being with him felt like you were meeting for the very first time over and over again. Every touch felt like the first time. Every kiss felt like your first one.
In the hand that wasn't trying to grab yours, he held a wicker-picnic basket filled with homemade food. He had told you earlier about how bad he always wanted to go on a picnic date, so you spent the entirety of the day making random things to take to the beach. It mostly consisted of rooting through cabinets and kissing each other at every chance you could get.
You walked quietly next to each other, the only sounds were the crashing of the waves and the chirping of birds. You held the picnic blanket close to you with one hand, and finally, you interlocked your fingers into his. You watched him swallow hard, and you were unable to hide your happiness.
Once you got to the perfect spot, he set down the basket and put down the blanket nicely. You sat down on it while he set up the food, unable to keep your eyes off of him.
He stood tall as per usual, with a white button up with a few of the buttons undone. The sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and a pair of khaki shorts clung to his thighs. His skin was like honey and his eyes glimmered. He looked otherworldly—as if he didn't belong here. There was no way someone this attractive was real, but here he was, in front of you.
His heart was beating for you.
“Here, he handed you a plate of food he so proudly made. There wasn't anything he couldn't do.
You smiled and took it from his hand. “Thank you, Mingi.”
He grinned as he sat down across from you. He watched you as you took a bite of the food, unable to look away from you. He didn't even reach to grab his own plate of food, and just smiled as you ate.
You met his eyes. “What? Is there something on my face?” you asked frantically, wondering why he was looking at you so attentively.
He laughed at that. “No, you're just pretty.”
You smiled and took another bite. “Jeez, you're cheesy.”
He leaned back, the tips of his fingers in the sand. There was barely anyone on the beach at this hour, as the sun was about to set on the ocean horizon. “I can't help it. I never thought I'd be on a date with you. It's like a dream.”
You swallowed the food before you spoke. “I still can't believe you liked me. I never even realized,” you sighed, lost in the past while he was enjoying the present.
“Hey, it’s fine. You're here with me now, it’s all about timing.” he mumbled happily, reaching for a piece of strawberry cake that was store bought. You didn't have the skills to bake.
You looked him up and down, just happy to be in his presence. Once again, Seonghwa was not a thought in your mind as you looked at Mingi—who couldn't stop admiring you.
You smiled as you thought about him. “You were my little Mingi,” you teased, watching his ears turn pink.
He scoffed. “Little?” he stood up deviously, and you should've known what was coming next. “Come here.”
He grabbed you before you could even make a move, and lifted you up off the blanket. He carried you towards the ocean, struggling as you tried to get out of his grip.
“No! Stop! I take it back!” you laughed, kicking your feet as you watched the water flow from underneath you. He still held you in his arms, but the minute the water was slightly deeper, he tossed you into the water with a romantic laugh.
Water enveloped you as you fell, and you looked up to him as you tasted the salt water in your mouth. With all the strength you got, you stood up and jumped at him, causing you both to tumble into the water.
It was like a scene from a movie. He tossed water at you while you tried to knock him down once again, and how he looked even more romantic than he did earlier. His hair was messy on top of his head, and the white shirt he was sporting now clung to his toned chest. You thanked the lord he wore white today, as you were able to see the ripples of his abs through the fabric.
You were tangled in each other both physically and emotionally, lost in each other’s souls and beating in each other’s hearts. You wished this moment would last forever, and you craved to share more moments of him that you could remember for a lifetime.
The romantic moment ended the minute you got back to his home, but in a different way.
He ripped your dress off your body as quickly as he could, the shower running in the background. His hair was still wet from the ocean, and his lips tasted like saltwater. You couldn't get enough of him.
He breathed heavily into your mouth, gripping your hips as he backed you up into the wall. His shirt was long gone now, the only thing on him were the soaking wet shorts.
“Take them off,” you groaned as he kissed you hungerly, tugging on his waistband. He moaned in response, gripping your face instead of listening to you. You decided to do it yourself, and as you unbuttoned his pants, you kneeled down onto the soft throw carpet and pulled the shorts down to the ground.
“W-what are you—ah,” he stuttered as you gripped him, unable to finish his sentence. The minute you stuck him in your mouth was the moment his knees weakened, and he almost lost his balance. “Oh my god.”
You glided your tongue around him, sucking tightly as you almost choked on how big he was. He gripped the hair on the top of your head as he inhaled sharply, breathing like he had just ran a marathon.
“Fuck, y/n,” he moaned your name, tossing his head back onto the wall. “How are you so fucking good at this?” he wanted to say more and you could tell, but you nibbled on his dick slightly before he could get any other words out.
You looked up at him from the ground, meeting his intense gaze. He sucked in sharply, gripping you by the shoulders to lift you up and to toss you into the shower. You were immediately met with scorching hot water, but you were numb to it the minute he entered the shower.
His mouth was on yours once again, biting your lip so hard you could've sworn you tasted blood.
“I’m gonna show you that I'm not so little anymore,” he whispered raspily into your face, his eyes slanted with lust. You wanted him to do everything possible to you—no matter what it was.
There was just something so attractive about a man being in love, and maybe it was because it was him. He was passionate and powerful, and was going to make sure you knew what you were getting into.
He fucked you hard from behind and pounded into you as hard as he could. You saw the stars again as the edges of your vision grew darker and darker. The water from the shower dripped down your face as he moved rhythmically, lost in his movements.
“You feel so good,” he moaned out, his head resting on top of yours. “Fuck.”
You smacked your head against the tile walls from his strength, unable to hold yourself up. He had a hold on you that no one else ever will, and you were sure that he was going to be the one for you, even if you ever even thought about the possibility before.
It felt like you were floating. He made you feel as if you were above the clouds, lost in a mess of him and his beauty. You knew that you’ve never had someone like him before, and you never wanted this to stop.
He made love to you over and over again as July became August—and you became his lover.
You woke up next to him the next morning. And the morning after that. And the morning after that. He’d kiss you on the forehead while you would hold him tightly, and then you’d brush your teeth together in the morning with clementine at your feet.
You never specified if you were officially dating or anything, but you didn't want to ruin the bliss you were in for now.
As the days passed, you fell in love with him. You knew you loved him from the minute he held you when you were scared of the storm all those nights ago, but now, as you laid in bed next to him on a rainy august morning, your heart knew what it wanted.
And what it wanted was him.
You watched him sleep peacefully as the rain tumbled to the ground outside. Clementine sat on the windowsill, watching the raindrops race down the glass.
But the silence didn't last.
“Yo, i’m back Mingi—” a voice boomed from the door, and it opened to reveal a handsome man you knew was seonghwa. He stood in shock as he met eyes with you, and mingi woke up with a jolt as soon as he heard his brother’s voice. “Oh?”
You cradled the blanket to your naked chest while mingi leaned over to cover you. “Hyung? Y-you're home?” he frantically stuttered, but you couldn't help but notice the shock in Seonghwa’s eyes as he began to recognize you.
“Y/N?” his eyes were wide, completely shocked. He dropped the bag that was in his hand, his mouth slightly agape as he stared at you from across the room. “Is that you? In my brother’s bed?”
“I–uh,” you spit out, looking between the two brothers. It was uncomfortable, especially since you were worried about what was running through Mingi’s mind. “Yeah. It's me. In his bed.”
He looked at the way you were clutching the blanket, and the way mingi was protectively covering you with his own body. “Naked…in bed…with my brother. What a great reunion,” he muttered, and you were unable to read his expression. He scoffed then, but then looked away from you respectfully.
“I’ll explain, hwa—” you tried to say, but Seonghwa interrupted.
“No. No need, just talk to me when you're um,” he signaled to your body without looking over. “Fully clothed.”
He walked out at that, shutting the door behind him. You couldn't lie, he looked great. Amazing even. He had hardly aged a day, but looked much more refined. Mingi looked over at you with a sigh, and you wondered what he was thinking. You hoped he wasn't second guessing himself.
You gave him a sweet kiss to brighten the mood, which made him smile immediately.
“We should go greet him,” you murmured with a slight chuckle, to which he laughed along with you.
“Yeah, that would be good.”
Seonghwa stared at you with awe, unable to meet his brother's eyes.
“I just can't believe it. You and my brother—when did you even come back?” he questioned, looking through your eyes. “I would have rushed back here if I knew you were here.”
“Well, good thing you didn't,” mingi joked, but you knew he was thinking way too hard about something.
Hwa disregarded that as most older brothers would. “You look good. Really good,” he smiled at you, his eyes piercing into yours. His hair was longer than it used to be, and it was styled smoothly on his forehead. He looked good, too.
His brother just looked better.
Mingi sat next to you on the couch in the middle of you and seonghwa, his hand gripping your thigh. You knew what he was doing, and you just wanted to tell him he didn't need to worry.
“Thanks, Hwa. it’s so good to see you again,” you smiled at him, truthfully. You had to admit that you really wanted to see him, but right now, every romantic emotion that was once tied to him was now tied to mingi. You set your hand down on top of the hand that was on your thigh, making sure he knew you wanted him as much as he wanted you.
Seonghwa looked down at your hand and swallowed hard. “So, what brings you back here?”
Mingi’s grip tightened on your thigh.
“Oh, well I um. I came back to see you guys. I missed you both.” you couldn't say you came back to see seonghwa, because now your whole motives changed.
The way seonghwa was looking at you felt like a bomb was about to go off. You were never hyper aware of his feelings for you, but as his gaze met yours and the way mingi kept you close to him made you think that he knew something you didn't.
“Oh, you came to see me? I’m sorry I wasn't here when you got here, y/n,” he smiled.
Mingi didn't like the way he was smiling at you.
“I have to go feed Clementine,” He made an excuse, letting go of the grip he had on you to stand up. He gave one last look to you before walking out of the room and into the kitchen.
Once he left, your thoughts were interrupted by Seonghwa’s sweet voice.
“Are you guys a thing?” he asked you softly, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. “I always thought that we were….you know…”
You sighed and sat up more, ready to explain everything on your mind. “Yeah, Mingi and I are together,” you smiled as you thought about him. “And uh, I did like you. I really did. I always did, Hwa, but now, I….” you took time with your words. “Now I know that Mingi is the one for me.”
Seonghwa nodded, letting out a sigh. “I guess my timing was a bit off, huh?” he chuckled, offering you a kind smile. You didn't mean to change the pattern of your heart, but it was just what needed to happen.
You didn't say anything. You didn't need to. He knew your feelings, and knew that they weren't for him. At least not anymore.
“Well, it was good to see you. I hope we can still be friends,” he smiled, standing up from the couch. “I have to go to work, but um, it was really nice seeing you.”
You nodded, standing up with him. “It was good to see you, too.”
He walked past you and patted you on the head before walking out of the house, leaving you alone with mingi once again.
You knew he heard all of that. You hoped he did, at least, so he knows how much you care for him. You know how insecure he feels about the fact you used to like his brother, and you wanted him to know that there was no reason to worry about it anymore.
“Mingi?” you called out, but there was no answer. You walked into the kitchen to see tiny snacking on her dinner, but there was no mingi in sight.
You walked through the kitchen to go out of the patio doors, finding mingi in the backyard next to the garden you used to steal strawberries from.
“There you are,” you breathed, walking on the grass barefoot towards him. The rain had stopped now, the only sign of it was the dewyness of the grass. Mingi was facing the other way, deep in thought as he stared at the crimson fruit in front of him. “Seonghwa just left.”
He nodded without a word. You took notice of his slumped shoulders and his unusual aura.
You reached out to touch him on the shoulder. “Mingi, I—”
“You're not gonna drop me for him now that he’s back, right?” he asked you, turning around to face you now.
His words hurt more than they should have. Even if you never declared you were in a relationship together, that doesn't mean you’d drop him for an old flame that never caught on fire.
You looked up into his eyes. Oh, those beautiful eyes. They seemed to worry way too much.
You took a step closer to him, just enough to tightly wrap your arms around his slim waist. You didn't say anything to him at the moment. You just held him, knowing he needed to be held. It took a second for him to wrap his arms around you, and when he did, he squeezed you tightly, as if he were afraid you'd escape his hold.
“No, baby. I’m not gonna leave you,” you looked up at him, smiling bright. “Why would I leave the man I love?”
He stiffened in your embrace, pulling back slightly to read your expression. “What?” he spoke softly, his eyes wildly looking into yours. “What did you just say?”
“I said why would I leave the man I love?” you giggled nervously, knowing it was a bit rash to say. “That would be stupid. How could I do that?”
He held onto you tightly, but looked confused as ever. “I thought I was gonna be the first one to say it,” he smiled, focused solely on you and only you. “I was just worried you didn't feel the same.”
“Oh, come on,” you grinned, pulling him toward you again. “I thought it was obvious.”
He looked down at you, completely in love. “Well I love you, too, y/n,” he pushed his forehead against yours, leaning down to press his lips against yours. “More than you love me, of course.”
You scoffed, but still smiled happily as he kissed you again.
It was everything you ever wanted. From the way he made you feel—enough to write a book about him—and the way he cared for you as if you were the most expensive work of art in a museum. He cherished you, and you wanted to live out your life with him. You wanted to spend every summer, autumn, winter, and spring with him.
After all, He was your sun. Your world. And you were his moon, his everything.
“In your dreams, Song Mingi.”

I have been devouring your content for the past few days and let me say: your writing is absolutely AMAZING! The way you write Jake is just chefs kiss. Jake and Addie are my new OTP
That said, I have read everything you have written about these two, the fic and all the OTP questions as well. But I have this very specific itch that will not leave me alone which you kind of touched on in one of your asks. What do you think Addie would be like if Jake got into an accident while flying? Nothing major obvs, but maybe a really bad scare?
No Callsigns
Pairing: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin x Female!Reader (Addie)
Word Count: 3.1k (Idk how that happened)
Warnings: whole thing takes place in a hospital, panic attack, character is seriously injured but the injuries are not described in any way, some light angst but with a happy ending
Notes: I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but this little scene has been playing around in my head for a long time. This is Addie reacting to Jake being injured, but it's not really an angst heavy introspective of how it makes her feel. It's more how it would play out.
This is a prequel to The Only Thing, but it can be read without reading the only thing. This story takes place before Jake goes to Top Gun the first time as a student but after he becomes a pilot.... Also Featuring Iceman and Coyote because why not.
Tumblr media
“Seresin residence, you’ve got Addie.” Addie tucked the phone between her cheek and her shoulder to free up her hands as she turned back to the sauce bubbling away on the stove.
It was Thursday night. Thursday night meant family dinner in the Seresin household, and the girls, Addie included, took turns rotating who cooked. Normally, it would’ve been Ronnie’s turn, but she was back in Austin studying for an organic chemistry final. Which meant it should’ve been Andy’s turn, only Andy was off in New York at a high school friend’s bachelorette party. Which meant it should’ve been Debbie if not for the fact that Debbie’s sister was in town and demanded the two go to the city for the night.
Kate had offered to order the two of them Chinese food so neither had to cook, but Addie had been perusing the Seresin family recipes again and decided it was time to try her hand at Debbie’s world – or at least county – famous marinara sauce.
Things were shaping up quite nicely before the phone began to ring.
“This is Admiral Tom Kazansky, US Pacific Fleet Commander. I’m calling to speak to Miss Debbie Seresin.”
Addie’s back straightened involuntarily. The wooden spoon in her hand slipped lower in the sauce as her grip on it loosened.
“She’s not in at the moment...” Addie didn’t really know what to say. “Can-Can I take a message?”
There was a quiet sigh on the other end of the phone. So quiet she almost missed it. So quiet she almost missed the melancholy coloring its’ tone. “Unfortunately not. Do you know how long until she’ll be back?”
The man’s voice didn’t turn up at the end the way one normally would to indicate a question. It stayed flat and even, like he didn’t have the energy to raise his voice, or perhaps more likely that the words were too heavy, too weighed down to be lifted up in any way.
“W-What happened to Jake?”
It wasn’t a question she was supposed to ask. Addie knew that. She’d had that talk with Jake before.
If something happened to him, she would have to find out from Debbie. The Navy didn’t exactly recognize ‘besties’ as a category for immediate disclosure. If he got hurt… or worse, the Navy would call his mom until he had a wife or kids.
“Pardon?” The high-ranking admiral on the other end of the line was, no doubt, not used to being questioned.
Addie wasn’t supposed to ask, wasn’t supposed to cause a scene, wasn’t supposed to stick her nose in. Jake had made it very clear that, much as he wanted them to tell her, much as he didn’t want her to find out second hand or have to wait for news, much as he loved her, the Navy would make her wait. She would have to wait, not on him, never on him, but certainly on them.
But Addie couldn’t help it. When Jake told her all those things, told her that if she ever got a call she would have to get ahold of his mom, told her that she shouldn’t barrage whoever called with questions, told her that she would have to get any news after the fact, told her to be on her best behavior if something really bad ever happened and someone important made the call… When he told her that, he’d never been on the receiving end.
He’d never felt his throat close up knowing that best case scenario she was in an ICU bed somewhere. He’d never gone weak in the knees when someone told him they could neither confirm nor deny that she was dead. He’d never spent hours waiting by a phone with the news blasting over loud speakers knowing she was going into a combat zone where she could be killed any second, knowing the six o’clock news might be told before him.
Jake had never gotten a phone call from someone telling him she was dead or dying, and he would never have to worry about getting that phone call, not really. And she knew without a shadow of a doubt that if their roles were reversed he would be so much worse.
“You’re a Fleet Commander; you wouldn’t be calling un-unless some-something really bad happened to Jake.” She felt out of breath, like she’d run a mile. Maybe it was the way her throat felt like she was breathing through a straw.
“Ma’am I’m not at liberty to discuss that with anyone other than Lieutenant Seresin’s next of kin.”
There was a loud crack followed by the sound of breaking glass. The salad bowl, balanced on the kitchen island behind her toppled to the ground and shattered as she stumbled back.
Next of kin. He was looking for Jake’s next of kin.
Addie gasped for air. “Is he alive?” Her words came out in a pant.
“Ma’am…”
She didn’t hear any more than that as Kate burst into the room.
“Addie, what’s…”
Addie was hyperventilating now. A hand on the island behind her, gripping the granite so hard her nails were cracking under the pressure, was all that kept her from sinking to the ground, unintentionally kneeling in the shattered glass around her.
Her hand pulled the phone away from her ear and waved it blindly in Kate’s direction as she desperately tried to catch her breath, tried to steady her shaking legs, tried to calm herself down.
“Who is this?” Kate’s tone was demanding, accusatory as she snatched the phone away from Addie. There was a brief pause as Kate’s face contorted. She clearly wasn’t getting the answer she wanted, or an answer at all.
“This is his sister, Kate. Now tell me who is calling, and why does Addie look like she’s having a panic attack?”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Addie?”
Addie’s head jerked up at the sound of the name.
It was a pilot calling her. She recognized him immediately. One of Jake’s friends, the only Navy friend of Jake’s she’d met so far.
“Coyote, right?”
Coyote nodded and crossed the room in long, sure strides to stand beside her chair. There were seats open all around her, but he didn’t make a move to occupy any of them. He stood, feet shoulder-width apart, hands tucked behind his back. There was no rocking or shifting to his stance like there would’ve been a civilians, no pacing or show of emotions. He was soldier.
“Your Jake’s wingman?” Addie pulled her legs up into the seat with her, hugging them against her chest as she stared up at the man standing over her.
“Yes ma’am,” Coyote wasn’t looking down at her. He was looking straight ahead at some unknown point on the waiting room wall.
“Please don’t call me ma’am. You can call me (Y/n), or Addie, whatever you prefer.” Addie sighed, slumping back in the chair to stare up at the ceiling. “I’m not old enough to be called ma’am. Jake calls me ma’am when he says I’m being a buzzkill.”
“From the stories Jake tells me, ma’am, that can’t be often.”
Addie’s eyes flashed back from the ceiling, just for a second, to see the corner of Coyote’s lips tugging up. He suppressed it well, but the amusement was still there. “You’re not much of a buzzkill either from what he tells me.”
“I try not to be.”
There was an amicable silence for several long moments. Coyote standing vigilant, staring at the wall behind her head, Addie tracing patterns in the ceiling with her eyes.
It was Coyote who broke it. “Are they… not allowing visitors yet?”
“They let his mom and Kate back about ten minutes before you got here.” Addie quickly corrected. “Two at a time. I let them go first.”
“Would you mind if I came in with you?” Coyote’s tone was constantly polite, deferential. It fit with the military man she knew he was, but she couldn’t reckon it with the stories Jake told her about his friend who seemed like absolute mayhem. “I know you’ll want some time alone with him. I’ll only need a minute. I just need…”
Coyote’s voice fell away, choked on a word Addie wasn’t sure which. It drew her eyes back from the ceiling, tilting her neck down to a more reasonable angle to look at his face.
Coyote’s gaze finally left the wall. It was like watching him pull himself together, draw up the courage to meet her gaze not that that made any sense. “It’ll only take a minute. I need to thank him, ma’am.”
“Thank him? What for?”
Coyote visibly swallowed, his adam’s apple bobbing in his throat, but he made no other display of emotion even as he said, “Because, ma’am, I would be dead right now if he weren’t in that bed.”
A dawning realization crossed Addie, her jaw going slightly slack. “The medal… You’re the pilot he...”
“Yes ma’am.”
Addie gave a thoughtful nod. Much as it hurt her, pained her, filled her with overwhelming dread to think of Jake lying cooped up in a hospital bed, Commander what’s-his-name had painted a marvelous tale of heroism for Debbie once she finally returned home, and he told her the story.
And now she had a face and a name to put to the ‘fellow aviator’ whose life Jake had saved. A face she knew, a name she liked, a nice guy with his whole future ahead of him because of Jake’s skill and sacrifice.
“Of course,” Addie choked out, “you’re welcome to come in with me.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” Coyote’s head turned back up to face the wall. He was only staring at it, and she was only staring at him, for a minute more before the doors behind him swung open.
“Addie, sweetie,” Debbie crossed the room in a flash of worry seeing yet another Navy uniform standing in front of one of ‘her own’.
“Debbie, this is Coyote,” Addie jumped straight to introductions even before she made it to her feet. “He’s going to come inside with me to see Jake for a minute if that’s alright. He is Jake’s wingman.”
Kate approached behind her mother, sticking out her hand to the aviator, “It’s Javy, right?”
“Yes ma’am.”
Debbie hugged Addie, ignoring Kate as she seemed ready to vet Coyote before allowing him entrance. “He’s doing a lot better than he looks,” Debbie whispered in Addie’s ear, hiding her voice in the tones of Kate and Coyote’s polite small talk in the background. “Really, the doctors say he’ll be his usual handsome self in no time and back to flying in a couple months. Don’t worry yourself to death, okay sweetie?”
“I’ll try not to.” Addie’s tone was as clipped as she felt.
Debbie pulled out of the hug and jerked her head towards the door. “Get on in there; you look like you’re barely stayin’ in your skin you wanna leave so bad.”
Addie nodded. She clearly wasn’t doing a very good job of hiding the fact that she was ready to bolt.
“They made Jake sign a couple waivers for you,” Kate added before Addie could leave. “But it should all be sorted out now. They all know you’re staying the night and to talk to you.”
“Thanks Kate.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Jake,” Addie’s voice broke on his name as she froze in the doorway.
‘He’s doing a lot better than he looks.’
He didn’t look good.
Hospital gown slung low around his neck with wires running down under the fabric, needles poking from IV bags into one arm, head lulled back against a pile of uncomfortable looking pillows, an oxygen mask hanging loose around his neck, and a bag partially filled with what could only be urine connected to a tube that ran up under his thick pile of blankets.
The air was filled with the smell of chemicals and the constant beeping of a heart monitor.
“Addie,” Jake croaked out. His voice was rough, deep and crackling as if he’d been screaming nonstop for days which she knew he hadn’t.
Addie couldn’t help it. She flung herself across the room to his bedside. She’d not said a word about waiting for Debbie to get back from the city to find out what had happened. She’d not said a word while they waited in the airport for the first plane out to the base. She’d not said a word waiting for the taxi to the hospital. She’d even held herself back to let his family see him, knowing she wouldn’t be able to leave once she was in the room.
But now that she was in the room she couldn’t hold herself back. She balanced herself on the free inch of space at the edge of his bed and gave in to the absolute panic and desperation that had been warring quietly inside of her since the moment she managed to swallow them down in his family’s kitchen.
One of her hands reached across his body and clutched his left hand in a vice grip. It was almost the only inch of skin free of any signs of what happened. Her other went straight to his cheek, cupping it in her hand as the tears finally began to fall.
“When that admiral called I thought for sure you were dead.” She didn’t sob. Her voice was soft, calm, and unwavering even despite the tears. “I was so scared. I broke your mom’s favorite bowl. I couldn’t form a sentence; Kate thought I was in shock.”
Jake sighed and leaned his cheek into her hand. The rough cuts and scratches to the skin there brushed against her palm and reminded her that every part of him would be effected by this in some way. “You’re gonna have to try a little harder if you wanna get rid of me, darlin’.”
Addie smiled through the tears and leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss, barely more than a brush of her lips, to his forehead. “Noted, next time I’ll do it myself.”
“I always knew you’d be the death of me.”
Addie chuckled and turned her face into his neck. Her temple brushed against his shoulder, and Jake winced. “Sorry.” She pulled back immediately.
“It’s alright, Addie,” Jake smiled up at her. Even his smile was scarred. His lip split in more than one place along it’s usually silky smooth lines. “Having you here makes up for it.”
“Well in that case, you should know I brought a friend.”
“Why the fuck would you do that?” Jake tried to laugh but immediately winced at the motion shaking his chest, “I only wanna see you.”
“I know,” Addie conceded easily and without any show of false modesty, “but I think you need to see him too.” Her fingers went to his hair, absently brushing the sweaty, greasy flyaways out of his face as she glanced back over her shoulder.
Coyote stepped in from where he’d been standing in the doorway. Jake’s senses, usually razor sharp, hadn’t so much as gotten a whiff at the other pilot. Whether that was due to his current state or the all-consuming peace that visibly washed over him the moment Addie walked in the room, no one could be sure.
“Hangman, I…”
“You don’t get to call him that here.”
It came out with more bite than Addie meant it to. She hadn’t intended it to have any at all, in fact. She’d only meant to say it matter-of-factly, but the emotions boiling up inside her simply could not be contained when she heard that callsign, that word.
“It’s fine, Addie.”
“No it’s not.” Addie looked to the floor to try to hide the glare that was forming in her eyes, but her words didn’t need an accompanying glare to convey how upset she was. “His name is Jake, and he wouldn’t be here if he hung you out to dry.”
“Addie…” Jake’s tone was placating.
“She’s right,” Coyote cut him off. “I’m sorry… Jake, I came here to thank you not insult you.”
Jake looked up at Coyote, utterly shocked. They were friends, certainly, but no one, not even his friends, had batted an eye when his squadron assigned him his callsign. No one batted an eye using it every day. No one ever questioned if he deserved it.
“You saved my life today, Jake, and I can never repay you for that.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Addie couldn’t lay down with Jake in the hospital bed, much as it would have been both of their preference.
The nurses had spotted her sitting back against the pillows with him in the early evening hours and immediately put a stop to that and any other notions of Addie getting on the bed.
Instead, she’d shuffled the uncomfortable plastic couch in the corner up against the bed in what she was sure was a safety violation but could not have cared less at that moment in time.
The couch was much lower than the bed, but it was close enough that she could curl up and still reach a hand up to hold Jake’s.
“You didn’t have to do that today, Addie.” Jake murmured into the absolute stillness of the night.
The rest of the floor seemed to be asleep, even the beeping of his heart monitor had seemingly faded to a background drone. They were, at that moment, in the silence of the hospital and the darkness of the night, the only two people in the world.
“Yes I did,” Addie countered in a similarly quiet voice.
“Addie, they call me Hangman for a reason.” Jake gently pushed back. “I don’t like to admit it any more than you, but I earned that name. I hang them out to dry in training every day, and if it came down to it in a fight I probably would hang them out then too.”
“You didn’t though,” Addie reminded him quietly. “When the cards were down, you risked your life to save his.”
“And I almost didn’t make it.” Jake didn’t need to remind her of that. The awkward position holding hands through the railing of his bed did a fine job of that. “When I did it, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. How you met Coyote, how you liked Coyote, how you joked that the two of you would be really good friends one day… and I thought… I thought, ‘I have to go for it.’ For you.”
Addie’s hand tightened her grip on his, giving him a reassuring squeeze, “Well, that’s… morbid.” She propped an elbow on the back of the couch and lifted her head just over the edge of the bed to give Jake a teasing smile, trying to lighten the mood, “I guess I’m just only allowed to meet friends you’d be willing to die for.”

How do you imagine father and sister Casey!12? Will they appear in your comics, even as voiceovers?
Hm, I’ve actually thought quite a bit about this. I imagine that Casey’s dad is fairly laid back and not that involved considering he let’s his teenage son wonder around New York at night and somehow doesn’t think much of it when he comes back with bruises and scrapes. He also seems to have endless money for hockey sticks, idk how many Casey has, but he breaks those things a lot. And I know it’s not coming out of Casey’s wallet cause he doesn’t have a job.
I also have this theory that Casey’s parents are probably divorced. Most likely his mom lives out of state, or in a different city since he doesn’t seem concerned about her during the invasion. I got this idea from one of my friends who’s parents divorced when he was little. He says that when he was a kid, he could basically just do whatever(which usually ended poorly, shenanigans include pepper spray, riding trains throughout the state and pooping on his younger brother) and disappear for days on end before anyone really thought much of it since both parents are thinking “oh I guess he’s with the other parent 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️” so I imagine Casey’s situation would be similar. It’s also canon that he can drive since he has keys attached to the belt loops on his pants, and whenever they drive as a group, Casey drives, so that could also add to his ability to just disappear for the night, or days without much concern.
I really don’t know much about Caseys sister, she’s mentioned once in the entire show which makes me think she’s probably several years younger than Casey. Casey’s in high school, so if his sister was also in high school, you’d probably see her show up a few times to say hi/tease him about his crush on April, and he’d probably drive her home from school. Except he doesn’t, which makes me think she’s still in middle school or even elementary school. He also specifies “little sister,” at least to me that sound like she’s a lot younger like 5+ years. If she was only 2 years younger, he probably wouldn’t specify since that’s not a huge part of their relationship. This is just what I do, so idk maybe I’m reading into it too much.
Those are just my theories. I don’t actually know anything about them, this is just what I’ve pieced together based on the very VERY little we get about Casey’s life.
Will they show up in ROTP? No, sadly not. I currently don’t have a part of the story where they’d fit, but that is a cool idea I’ll keep in mind! They will be mentioned though, I really want them to at least be brought up in a conversation!
Good questions! :]

Monchel raising Emma?
Disclaimer: Ross is a bit of a bitch, Mondler doesn't exist.
● It starts with Monica doing everything she can to help Rachel. She goes to her appointments, she cooks her healthy meals, she buys her vitamins and, overall, she's just there for Rachel while she's pregnant;
● It prompts Phoebe to say one random day that Monica is "the dad";
● Ross is pissed, he throws a tantrum, he raises his voice, but Rachel very calmly tells him to go fuck himself. How dare he be pissed that she's getting help from someone, from his sister no less, and when did he even ask her if she needed help?
● But they put up the conversation about what they are to the very last minute. Literally. Rachel is in labor, Monica can't be inside the room, and she just starts crying because she wants Monica to be there. When they finally convince the doctor to let Monica stay in the room, all Rachel can say is that Monica needs to see her daughter being born, and that settles it;
● From that day on, they're a family;
● Monica has so much patience and she always wanted to have kids, so she takes up the part very easily;
● Rachel is very happy to let her change all diapers, but, in her defence, Monica is the only one that can make the task look like the happiest moment of her life;
● Monica's parents aren't exactly supportive at first. They keep pretending it's not happening and they definitely call Ross more than once to talk about how crazy they think that is. It's not until a Christmas party that they see Monica raising Emma to put the star on the tree that they start acting more supportive of it;
● Emma's first words are "Mama" and she says it looking at Rachel, but them she looks to the side and says the same thing looking at Monica, and both of them cry for hours after that;
● They move to Paris because of Rachel's work and they stay there for over three years before coming back to New York. In that time, Emma learns a lot of French so, when they get back, they go around showing everybody their daughter can speak another language. Emma and Phoebe are constantly speaking French together;
● While they were introducing Emma to solid foods and making her taste everything, Monica would also make some of the things for Rachel because God knows her partner still is a picky eater. Joey would also join them simply because he loves to eat;
● Joey, by the way, is Emma's favorite uncle;
● First day in school was harder for Monica and Rachel than to Emma (and Ross as well). The girl walked inside the school with her big backpack and didn’t even look back, but Rachel was sobbing the whole time. Monica at least waited for her to get inside first;
● Monica is the one to deal with the hard things. She has a first aid kit always ready, she puts the band aids on the cuts and scratches, she always knows what medicine to give her when she's sick, and she's basically ready for anything at all;
● On Mother's Day, Rachel is usually the one to get up early to help Emma make breakfest for Monica. It's a surprise they don't burn down the kitchen at first, but Monica knows the food they bring her to bed is barely eatable;
● Oh, Mother's Day at school is also a big thing for them. Since the start they make sure the school knows Emma has too moms (not news for them since it's where Ben used to go as well), and they're always in the front row to watch the school dances and all of that. Emma makes them handmade cards too and they keep all of them inside a box on the back of their closet;
● They decide to have more kids when Emma is five, probably. It's when they find out Monica can't be pregnant. They have a conversation about it and Rachel confess that she hated being pregnant and has no wish to go through that again. They decide to adopt then, but it takes a while. It's the early 00' and they're a gay couple, so yeah, a lot of patience is involved;
● The twins come along when they had already lost hope, actually. Emma is eight already and she becomes the best big sister ever;
● When Emma hits her teenage years, Rachel is the one that tries to keep her from going to parties and such. It's not until Monica reminds her that she used to sneak out from her parent's house that Rachel decides to stop trying to put Emma inside a bubble. Monica becomes her driver, though, driving her to the parties and them going to pick her up afterwards. It's a very clear rule that she has to go back at a reasonable hour and Monica has to pick her up from the same place she left her. It works very well. Even if Emma does enjoy to party, she's also a very responsible kid;
● Rachel almost faints when Emma says she has a boyfriend, however, and not even Monica is very happy about it either. Surprisingly, Joey and Chandler are the ones that take it the hardest. They make it a hobbie to scare Emma's potential boyfriends away;
● Also, throughout the years, there's tons of family photos. The house is filled with them (also, it's filled with so much love)

Heres some character info-sheets for my mlb rewrite. The main five obv, but I'll get to other characters maybe later if and when I feel like it... also this was an excuse to draw them n o t dying or something so uh- yar.
Some additional info about each:
Marinette- Marinette's mom tried to teach Marinette chinese but started out a little too late in Mari's child-language development and never really succeeded. At most, Marinette can introduce herself. She does not yet have any crushes in my fic at the moment, but the first one (sorta already is) will be Luka for a while once he gets more "screen time". She's less "UwU quirky i'm so clumsy" like she is in the show. In fact, she doesn't go and do stupid things without repercussions at all. She is less focused on boys and more on her superhero life, but it starts getting overwhelming. She feels like if she tried to focus on herself for a change, something bad would happen as a result, and it doesn't help that Tikki is so strict on her about it.
Adrien- Adrien is pomosexual which basically means he doesn't know what the heck he is or what to label his feelings with so he went with that. He knows he is attracted to femininity, but is also ok with more masculine or "tom-boyish" attributes in anyone of any gender. This does lead into his crush on Kagami later on since they are nonbinary and not exactly "the most feminine" person you could meet, yet also not entirely masculine in their personality and presentation. Basically, he doesn't know what the heck his sexuality is. He knows chinese and english because of how strict his homeschooling is, and has a natural talent for picking up new languages. He doesn't really understand himself and often feels like he's broken, or a robot. Perhaps some senti-monster behavior...??????!!!!! (I'm deciding on that now shut up)
Nino- Nino is a glorious bilingual child whose parents are unknown. They probably left the face of the planet. No one has ever seen them... at least in the show... so I didn't bother giving him a family. But he's bilingual somehow!! But wait... I did give him parents?! That's right, I invented Mara Lahiffe for no reason, and we're gonna say his dad is no longer in the picture. He's very protective of his friends and would never abandon them, hence why he became so fitting for the turtle miraculous. He has a secret crush on Rena Rouge but sadly, not Alya. He likes his mysterious women I guess.
Alya- Alya is creole which is a race of people from America that spawned from the mixing of native american, Spaniard, black, and europeans. It's a lot... I know... they're best known for existing in Louisiana, and does she have family there? No! She has relatives from Cuba which is why she can speak spanish. Alya has a big family with three other sisters, and she's caught being the middle child. This has given her a lot of insecurities due to her older sister being a literal muscle boxing beast and her two little twin sister getting all the attention from the family.
Chloe- I think it's really funny that I didn't give Marinette, the main character, family trauma, but the other four.... Chloe's parents are divorced and her mother has a very judgmental attitude over Chloe. Chloe wants nothing more than to please and impress her mother who sometimes doesn't even remember her daughters name. Chloe feels like she's battling her half sister, Zoe, for their mothers attention, which is made extra hard for her by the fact that her sister and mother live all the way in New York. Chloe was as straight as a pencil, she swears. but then... she started developing feelings for a girl and everything became a mess. She's kinda in the same boat as Adrien right now, except she's more comfortable calling herself bicurious. She developed anorexia after Gabriel Agreste's company refused to accept her as a model, denying her the chance to work with Adrien and pursue her dream career.

YET ANOTHER long and obnoxious stream of my thoughts while watching grey’s anatomy for the first time (season FIFTEEN, bc i’m actually not sick of these yet)
-i don’t like this whole “she’s not really your sister” thing. like, it’s played for comedic effect and teddy is clearly just hormonal and panicking so whatever but i don’t like that.
-i don’t want to rehash owen x amelia. yawn. nor do i want to rehash owen x teddy. yawner.
-i like that we’re getting a *little* deeper into helms crush on meredith and that it’s not just comic relief
-why are there no doctors above the age of 45 in this entire hospital besides richard? they’re all so pretty, but at what cost?
-something is going to happen to this pregnant nurse… there’s a lot of focus on her out of the blue
-i love that almost this entire intern class is at least mildly gay
-bailey is pissing me off
-ted mosby!!! he looks a little slovenly for a date tbh. not to sound judgmental but like, she’s all dressed up and he isn’t.
-this guy is way chiller than ted mosby. i like this for her. i hope it doesn’t turn out really bad but i know it probably will
-is it worth it to watch station 19?? i kind of don’t want to tbh
-i forgot teddy was in new york until her friend passed in 9/11. i’m imagining an au in which teddy and addison knew each other in NYC in the 90s bc i think they should’ve interacted more
-the undiagnosable stomach issue is so clearly this patient’s suspicious heirloom lunch pail. like, duh.
-okay well i was wrong about that and now i’m embarrassed that i predicted that with such smug sureness and authority.
-playing “chasing cars” in spanish for the día de los muertos episode is an interesting choice. i think i like it??
-nurse debbie!!!! it’s been a while
-okay nvm that is NOT nurse debbie. they just have the same bangs
-everyone gets to have a tumor on this show. YOU get a tumor! YOU get a tumor!! and YOU get a tumor!!!
-richard no :(
-RICHARD, NO >:(
-as much as i hate the owen/amelia dynamic, i really LOVE this whole amelia and betty thing
-i DO NOT like meredith/deluca
-the only relationship that doesn’t completely bore or frustrate me right now is alex/jo but even then, they’re just kind of there, yk?
-i love that meredith has one format of outfit that she likes and that works for her and she sticks to it. relatable AF.
-why didn’t miranda just have a conversation with ben before she sprung the separation on him? he would have been more than understanding i think
-i really like teddy and koracick actually
-i’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop with betty :(
-did they change out writers and/or show runners?? the writing feels… cheesier almost? or maybe just like the emotional beats are less earned? i mean it’s always been delightfully soapy but it’s just different these past couple of seasons and i can’t put my finger on it
-betty/britney’s mom is baby from dirty dancing?????!!!!!
-alex just straight up not being able to understand the scottish accents is so fucking funny.
-i love it when bokhee has lines
-“it’s a real fire!!” alex, gleefully and wrapped in a homemade knit scarf while indoors
-richards reaction to they/them pronouns is very interesting and i think it’s definitely an accurate portrayal of how even the generally accepting and well meaning older people can sometimes struggle with that kind of stuff. like, he’s not trying to be ignorant or rude he’s just genuinely perplexed. “the world moves fast and i’m just trying to keep up”
-i SWEAR TO GOD if teddy gets back with owen instead of staying with tom i will start hitting things
-“you suffered for years bc of my brother so you should totally get together and move in with him”- megan hunt in a wig that’s almost as terrible as her advice
-nancy!!!
-the shepherd family dynamic is so interesting to me because we’ve heard about it from two different perspectives over the years (derek’s and things amelia has said mostly in PP) and what we’ve seen of them is mostly from derek and meredith’s perspective in which they seem nice if a bit overbearing.
-okay jeez kathleen is a piece of work. i’ve always liked nancy even though she is “mcbitchy”. i also can’t help but to think about how addison fit into all of this when she and derek were married lol.
-has amelia ever told her family about christopher?
-stop trying to push owen and teddy on me!!!! i hate it!!
-that is insurance fraud babe. is there not a way for them to do it pro bono or something??
-okay i can sense that teddy and owen is going to happen so i will not make any more notes about it bc all i have to say about it is some variation of “no! i hate it!”
-okay i lied because the way teddy is going about it makes me deeply upset. poor tom. also “he makes me laugh and feel safe but i don’t feel rage or passion or ecstasy” ????? i should hope you don’t feel rage??? owen hunt makes me enraged too but that doesn’t mean i want to kiss him on the mouth!!! jesus christ. just fuck tom i guess, right?
-WOAH. i was not vibing with merluca but he’s willing to go to prison for her??!!!
-there’s no way they’re really fired . meredith owns a good chunk of the hospital still, right??? not to mention there’s maybe three characters on this show that *haven’t* committed crimes/major ethical violations.
-i’ve been beefing with jackson for a few seasons now tbh

Thank you for the tag, @cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut @carlos-in-glasses @eclectic-sassycoweyes @lemonlyman-dotcom 🥰🫶
This is from my TK has a little sister fic-
2014 -
The door to his dad’s office was open; TK could see that his dad was pacing back and forth like he did when he was on the phone. TK didn’t know what was happening, but knew it wasn’t good; he could practically seeing the veins in his dad’s neck bulging from thirty feet away.
TK pushed the door a little bit and leaned in the doorway. His dad had his back to him with his cell phone to his ear; he hadn’t noticed that TK was there yet. TK heard the ringing fade into a recorded voicemail — “Hello? Hello? JUST KIDDING!” TK rolled his eyes; that was his little sister’s outgoing message. TK had begged her to change it; even by teenager standards, it was obnoxious.
“Hey, Soph,” Owen said. “It’s me again. Still waiting to hear from you. I do hope that you’re enjoying these messages. Because they’re the last ones you’ll ever get”. He hit end call and pushed a few more buttons on his phone before lifting it to his ear again. While the phone was ringing, he noticed TK.
“I thought you left,” his dad whispered . “Your shift is over”.
“Yeah, I know”. TK said softly. “But Lyle told me to check on—” His dad held a hand up as TK heard his sister’s voicemail playing again. He motioned for TK to come inside and out of the doorway. TK sat on the couch as his dad started leaving another voicemail for his sister.
“Hi, Sophie,” his dad said, in a tone so eerily calm it made TK nervous. “The last message I left you. I’m worried that I was unclear. What I meant was, when I track you down, I’m taking away your phone. And locking you in a tower for a long time. A very long time. We’re talking the garbage will have filled the state of New York and blocked out the sun and we will be freezing half to death before you are allowed out again. And that is before it’s your mother’s turn to deal with you. Call me. And get your ass back here. Actually, do both those things. Bye”. He clicked off the call and collapsed next to his son on the couch.
“Well, I know getting that message would make me eager to call you back,” TK joked. His dad shot him a sideways glance.
“Well, your sister didn’t respond to your mom’s calls, either”. He sighed.
“Want me to try?” TK asked. “I could text her. See if I can find out where she is”.
“We know where she is”. His dad showed TK a text that he had received from Gwyn. “New Brunswick. House party. This is off something called an Instagram live”. TK had several different questions at once, the least of which was that he was curious when his mom had learned to use Instagram.
“What the hell is she doing in Jersey?” was the question TK went with.
“You know son, I’m curious about that too”. Owen sighed. “And your mother’s in Boston for a client this weekend, so she sent me the address and I said I’d go pick her up. And I’ve also got three guys out sick, and Lorraine is supposed to be come by tonight and drop her key off”. He dropped his phone on the couch and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“You know Dad,” TK said, “I can help”.
“You know I can’t let you work tonight,” his dad said without looking at him. “You’ve gotten too much overtime this week as it is. Plus, you need to sleep”.
“Look who’s talking”. TK murmured, half to himself. “What I meant was,” he said louder, “I can go pick Sophie up and bring her back here”.
His dad looked at him in surprise. “You would?”
“Well, I certainly don’t want to wait for Lorraine,” TK replied. “And I think there’s a car I could use. June told me to call her if I needed anything”.
“You really think your sponsor would let you take her car?” his dad said, surprised.
“For just anything, no”. TK said, getting his phone out. “But to pick up my dumbass sister and drag her back here, yeah I think she’d be cool with that”. He was focused on his phone that he was unprepared for his dad to lean over and engulf him in a hug.
“Dad,” TK said in a more whiny tone than he meant to. “Still at work. We’ve talked about this”.
“I know, I know,” Owen said as TK got up. “I can’t help it. I really appreciate this, TK”.
“Don’t worry about it”. TK said as he headed for the door. Which , he knew his parents were both royally pissed off with his sister, but secretly, he was happy to have something to do.
Tk poked his head back in the office. “Dad, are you okay? With the Lorraine stuff going on, I mean”.
His dad exhaled slowly. “One crisis at a time, kid”.

Lesley Jacobs 🥰
Another two parter! I love this lil guy!! He's such a skrunkly lil man
Quickfire Favorites
Food: “Taffy! I love taffy! ‘Speshully the salt ones!”
Color: “Green! No blue! !!!!! A mix o’ green an’ blue!!!”
Season: “Root beer!” after a confused look “We learned ‘bout Sassafras in school! And how it’s a season that gets turned to root beer!” more confused staring “You meant season like… like spring an’ summer, din’cha?”
Weather: “I like when it’s rainin’! Then we get to hang out with Cowboy at Miss Medda’s! We get to see him paintin’!”
Hobby: “Sword fightin’! I’s gettin’ real good! You wanna see?”
Animal: “Pigeons! They real smart! They can find their way from a hundred miles away!”
Memory: “Meetin’ Miss Medda! Cowboy brought us to her theater an’ we got to see the Bowery Beauties an’ see Miss Medda perform for the first time!”
Comfort Item: “My sword! It keeps me safe when I’s hawkin’!”
His birth name was Lior, but his parents Americanized it when they settled.
They hadn’t lived in another country, they’d lived in a different state that was far more forgiving toward the Jewish community
Les doesn’t know where exactly his family lived before, he was born right before they moved, so he doesn’t remember it
He also doesn’t have room in his brain for things he doesn’t think is interesting
So he couldn’t tell you what city or state
He knows it was further inland than New York
Is very excited to live near the ocean
Is also filled with giddy terror at the thought of going anywhere near the ocean
Lior (changed to Lesley, and later shortened to Les) Miron Jacobs
He’s baby
There’s not much else to say 😌
But I will anyway
Les Jacobs had a pretty good childhood. He was the youngest of three siblings, and was the baby of the family. He was doted on for most of his younger years.
His family shielded and protected him from discrimination. They would take the brunt of any snide remarks sent their way, leaving Les oblivious to others’ hatred. For a while.
With Davey as his big brother and Sarah as his big sister, he grew up with mega big brains. School, for the most part, came easy to him. He would tell his siblings what they were going to learn that week, and they’d show him how to do it.
He got in trouble a lot for talking and fidgeting during class
It only got worse after the strike.
Because he’d been out of school for so long he didn’t really remember how to sit still
Definitely has Gifted Kid Syndrome when he gets older. He tries so hard when he’s young, but after the strike and being around the newsies, school was kind of… boring.
He cared less and less about schoolwork and more and more about hawking and being around the newsies. He wanted to learn less about school subjects and more about life.
Anything he wasn’t good at, he didn’t want to do. He wanted to be good at the things he did as soon as he tried them (Like hawking papes)
Les is neurodivergent
I know everyone usually says ADHD, or something similar
But hear me out
Hyperlexia. More specifically Hyperlexia II.
There wasn’t a name for it back then, I think the name only came about less than a hundred years ago.
Hyperlexia II occurs in children with autism. They are captivated by letters and words and numbers.
He’s very good with dates, and loves learning new things. He loves spending time with Elmer and Davey. They can teach him math and reading, new words, new ways to see the world.
On that note, I believe Les has autism
Definitely has echolalia. He can and will repeat the phrases spoken by the people nearby. It happens most often with the newsies, which has gotten him into far more trouble than anything else
Says fuck at least once a day, just echoing Crutchie the newsies
Once they get settled back into a routine with the newsies, he refuses to let anything come between him and that routine (including, but not limited to: his mom finding out that the newsies smoked around him, Jack and Davey’s first and only fight, him asking his dad to teach him how to play poker so he could play the next time the newsies play)
Their routine, for anyone who was curious:
Davey wakes up with the first light of day. Les wakes as soon as his brother stirs
They both get up, and get ready. Socks first. Les can’t stand the feeling of the floor on his bare feet. He dresses up from there. Pants, shirt, suspenders, hat.
Mama calls them for breakfast as soon as the sunlight touches the roof of the next building.
After breakfast, during the school year, they go to school, and during the summer they go to the Lodge.
Their shoes stay by the door. That’s the last thing he puts on before they leave.
He stays out hawking for the same amount of time that he would’ve been in school
Afterward, they go to the theater to see Miss Medda.
Then, back to the Lodge to hang out with the newsies for a bit
The newsies fight over who gets to give him a piggyback ride
He picked Jack every time
Until he found out that Albert and Finch would run with him on their back
He picks Albert usually, because he’s easier to get on, but will pick Finch without too much fuss if Albert is busy
They get back home at dusk, doing homework by the light of the sun (or a candle once the sun had set)
Once finished with homework, they bathe, and get into bed
Has to repeatedly be told that there are certain things he can’t say certain places
He can’t speak what little Yiddish he knows in public, for fear of retaliation by the masses
He can’t say anything about the strike or the union, had to stop going to meetings and rallies because he would just talk and talk and talk to people, and would unknowingly jeopardize the entire operation
He can’t tell anyone about when he sees Davey and Jack huddled together on the fire escape, looking a little too close to be just friends
Looks up to Jack, and Jack does his best to be the role model he needed growing up. He doesn’t want Les selling papes, doesn’t want Les to be near their side of town (it’s dangerous, even with the newsies having his back), much less actually being a newsie and hawking.
“Davey said if I don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. So I’m not gonna say anything to you :) “ -Les
Alternatively: “Davey said if I don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. But Davey ain’t here and you’re a little BI-” -Les, right before Jack remembers that he prefers life
Is the bicon everyone wants Jack Kelly to be
Is a pastel boyo
Everyone expects him to be a neon guy, to complete the trifecta (Davey having an e-boy aesthetic is everything to me. Sarah is 10000% pastel princess (and def has an alt edge to it) but he’s def stolen at least 3 of Sarah’s sweaters, and tried on 4 of her skirts (has told no one) because he likes how flowy they are
Can and will fall asleep anywhere and everywhere
Is an absolute god at Clue(do). Davey and Katherine get so frustrated on game night because Les can look at the people around him, make one suggestion to get an idea of what everyone thinks, watch cards exchange hands, and make his final guess the next round.
He wins every single time
He’s terrifying when it comes to April Fools Day.
Like to the point that he isn’t allowed to pull pranks anymore
Not because anyone gets hurt
But because everyone else gets butthurt that they can’t outdo Les’s absolute EXTRAVAGANZA
Gets a lot of his self worth from others. He looks to the others for approval after he says or does anything, because if they don’t approve or think he’s doing a good job then how can he possibly think he’s doing a good job?
Says beep instead of excuse me
Trusts everyone
That being said, if someone wrecks that trust it’s next to impossible to earn it back
He can and will hold a grudge for ages
His longest streak has been six months
And it was because Sarah brought him regular taffy instead of salted taffy
He didn’t trust her to bring him candy until one day she showed up with several bags of saltwater taffy
Loves listening to the others talk about the things they like, and is really good at retaining that information

Here’s my rottmnt ivy!
The yokai frog!
(This drawing is her growing up that’s all lol)
Anyways she kinda grew up in the beautiful lake town where’s there’s other yokai amphibians/reptiles live in here
Of course ivy is born into a rich family since her mother is known for her beauty and best selling boutique while her dad is very wealthy and smart! Ivy only have two older sisters, the oldest named sunny who follows in her mother’s footsteps while her second older sister just wants to live her life normally but of course their mother doesn’t accept “rowdy”or ”unladylike” nature in her household even though ivy doesn’t like the annoying fancy rules in her mother’s household.
Ivy’s relationship with her family/friends!
—1 dad: “I love my dad but we’re not that close or sometimes don’t see eye to eye…he’s mostly focused on her career making sure our home is at float I guess…”
—2 Mom: “She’s always trying to control my life and how I dress like I have to freaking wear stupid fancy dresses or something that my mother would approve of….why can’t she just accept me who I am….”
—3 Sunny (older sister): “I don’t know what’s her deal is with me? Like she’s always had to one up me or my other older sister about who can impress my mother more! I know sunny is my mother’s favorite child but damn…why can’t we be sisters who know..?”
—4 poppy (second oldest sister): “She’s pretty cool and I tend to hang out with her more often than my whole family but she’s grown and starting her life, which I’m proud of her that but I wish her the best in life…love ya sis💕”
(That’s her family dynamics!)
—5 Vinny (childhood best friend): “What else I got to say? Vinny is the bestest friend I could ask for and I would never change that in the world!”
—6 Mona Lisa (really good best friend): “She’s really sweet and I love her baking bring very happy positivity around us in our friendship! Also she’s cool and strong for a alligator yokai!”
—7 Andy (third best friend!): “This adorable axololi bean is most cutest boi ever! Also I love his painting always works a beautiful Picasso!”
(This is her best friend dynamics!🌸💕)
Also ivy is short af lol
(When she’s a teenager she’s 4’9 but when she was at least 18 she grew a lil bit lol)
Oh yea she ran away from home her mother set her up for an future arrange marriage with a Mr. Toad is who another rich man but very creepy…so ivy just snuck out along side with her friends well at first they came out looking for her when they did ivy explained to her friends why she ran away from home cuz she couldn’t stand being in home where mother goes around trying to find a rich man who twice her age to be dating soooo…yea they decided to just leave the lake town never look back and that’s when they ended up in New York City!
(Ima stop right here but you get the story)

Heavy Hearts Ch 9

Casey Novak x reader warnings: language, alcohol consumption
As expected, you were able to hide in your room for most of Friday. Your mom did come knocking on your door around breakfast, demanding you join her but at the very least she didn’t make you change out of your pyjamas. Once she had disappeared off to the country club you were able to actually spend some time with Larissa, meandering through the house, helping her with minor cleaning jobs, prepping meals or folding laundry. You’d always liked her; she had originally started out as the nanny for both Ethan and you and over the years your parents had kept her on staff considering she was so good at everything else. She’d basically raised you and you would be eternally grateful to her about that, especially considering she was the only person who actually accepted you. She’d been the first person you’d come out to and helped you through the process of telling your parents, she always asked about Casey and was eager to hear about your stories out in Boston and plans to move to New York after you graduated. You often felt like a cog in a machine while in Washington, but with Larissa, you felt like a real person, and you would never forget how much she’d helped you grow into the person you were today.
You wandered back up to your room halfway through the afternoon to call Casey and you found a dress laid out on your bed, a couple of pieces of jewelry on your dresser and you knew your mom had been rifling through your things to make sure you looked presentable for the engagement party. At the very least it was a dress you liked, a pale blue sundress with cap sleeves and a slight v neck, a slit on one leg around your knee, the hem waterfalling down to your ankles. You spent about forty minutes on speaker with Casey while you got ready, telling her how much you loved her before you hung up and reluctantly found your way downstairs to get into the car.
The engagement party was in full swing by the time you got there, the event room all decked out for the party. The floor to ceiling glass doors were wide open to the back lawn, letting the warmth and fresh air easily flow into the space. You had to admit, your and Sarah’s parent’s had made the right calls with the decorations, the place looked amazing. You managed to find your parents, kissing them on the cheeks while you complimented your mom’s tastes and she told you how she just knew the dress she had picked out would look perfect on you. Shortly after that you found Sarah and Ethan, greeting your future sister in law with a warm hug and a bright smile to welcome her to the family, reminding her that whenever your brother was acting like an idiot, that he deserved whatever punishment she handed out. Laughing, she thanked you, saying she was excited to officially be joining your family and couldn’t wait to have you as a bridesmaid. There was something about Sarah that you knew she was telling the truth, her and Ethan, no matter how they viewed specific ways of life, they were still good people. You knew that them getting married meant you were about the have the sister that you’d been waiting for your entire life and you had to admit, you were excited about it.
Finally, you were able to tear yourself away from the happy couple (and insane amount of long distant relatives you hadn’t seen in years) to snag a couple of hors d’oeuvres from a few trays and make your way up to the bar. Once you’d secured a glass of champagne you felt more relaxed, the first sip helping remind you that this was one night, if you could get through it, you were one day closer to reuniting with Casey. It was as if on cue that your phone buzzed,
‘How’s the party?’
‘Could be better but it’s not totally insufferable, I don’t hate everyone.’
‘Good. Just think, we’re one day closer to fireworks on the beach.’
‘A day I cannot wait for.’ You let out a small huff, noticing a cousin coming toward you, ‘babe, I might have to dip for the rest of the night. There’s so many people here I need to talk to, I doubt I’m going to be able to respond to all your messages.’
‘It’s okay. Love you.’
Casey typed the message with a smile, fighting the urge to blow a kiss to the phone, knowing just how ridiculous that would be. She frowned when her phone didn’t buzz with a reply, sure you’d said you were busy but you always said I love you back. She was about to send another message when her mom called out to her and she dropped the phone onto the island, padding back to the living room to catch the end of the commercial break of the show they were watching.
*
“Oh my god, y/n!” A voice called out and you turned from the bar, a smile breaking out on your face at the sight of Kim making her way toward you. “I didn’t think you’d be here!”
“Please.” You laughed, squeezing the hug tightly, “Ethan got engaged, of course I’m going to be here.”
“Your girlfriend here?”
“No.” You huffed, taking a heavy swig of your drink.
“Oh god, did you guys break up?”
“No! No!” You laughed it off, “you know what my family’s like. Casey’s in New York for the summer.”
“Okay good.” She squeezed at you, “cause from what I heard you guys are destined for each other.” You barely managed out a ‘thanks’ before she turned back to you with a gleam in her eyes, “you want a shot? C’mon… you know it’ll make this shit less boring.”
“Fine. But two… max!”
“That’s all I need.” She grinned in response, “you want to sit with us?”
“Please!” You picked up the first shot glass, “I’d like to be away from my mother as much as possible.”
“I don’t blame you.” She laughed, clinking your glasses together before throwing back the alcohol.
The two of you spent the next bit catching up until the announcement that dinner was happening, quickly downing your second shot and getting a glass of wine before you wandered through the space to find your table. You were thankful to be tucked in the side of the room, away from prying eyes as food was brought out and speeches began to get made. Both of your parents and both of Sarah’s parents had them prepared, going on and on about Sarah and Ethan’s love, how they were meant to be, how they couldn’t wait for your families to intertwine and become one. You did your best not to roll your eyes, occasionally catching your brother’s eye across the room as he mimicked the motion you were dying to make.
‘God this sucks.’
You swiftly typed off the text to Casey shortly before dessert, wishing that you could at least have her on your side at these kind of events to make things more enjoyable. At the very least tonight you had Kim, making your way through dinner and dessert actually enjoying yourself. It was once the tables were cleared that everyone began to make their way out into the garden, the doors open between it and the indoor bar. The two of you made your way up to it for a refill, while you weren’t totally sober, you still knew you would be able to handle yourself with another couple of drinks, you were barely tipsy after all the food you’d had. The fresh glass of champagne was in your hand as Kim let out a happy gasp,
“Oh my god.” Her hand wrapped around your wrist, “Brad’s here! Do you think I should go talk to him?” You glanced in the direction she was looking, the homecoming king making his way through the room.
“I mean, you two always had something going on, what’s the harm in seeing if he’s single now?”
“You sure?” She looked over at you so eager you nearly laughed, “yeah. Babe, go. I’ll be fine, I’m gonna try to sneak out of here soon anyways.”
She let out a quiet happy squeal, squeezing at your hand before beelining over to Brad and you let out a small sigh, you were officially on your own. You turned back to face the bar, your hand wrapping around the flute of champagne in front of you and you wondered how long you would have to stick around before it would be acceptable to leave. You dug your phone out of your bag, frowning at the lack of texts so you swiped over to Casey’s text chain. You knew texts were still pricey, but you’d expected her to reply at the very least, though, maybe she was busy. She did have a very different set of parents than you did, she was probably in the middle of a very intense board game or trivia night.
‘I think I actually forgot how crap these events are. Hope NYC is going better for you.’
It took a few minutes of silence, of you staring at the screen hopefully before Casey’s reply finally popped up.
‘Sorry babes. I left my phone in the kitchen.’
‘You’re good. I just lost my last resource. Kim found a hottie to go after.’
‘See that’s why you always need to bring a date to those things.’
‘I tried!’ You laughed, glancing across the room and you did your best not to grimace at the sight of Brock catching your eye, a smirk breaking out on his lips as he suddenly changed paths, altering towards you at the bar. ‘Hey, sorry, Brock found me. I’ve got to go.’
You took a hefty swig of your drink as you placed your phone down on the bar top, praying Brock wasn’t going to stick around long. But that prayer was sent to silent gods, his arm nearly wrapping around you as it caged you into the bar, his lips brushing against your cheek in a greeting you did your best not to cringe at.
“Well if it isn’t little Miss Vanderbilt” He chuckled darkly, “can’t say I expected to see you here today.”
“What can I say?” You turned around, lips nearly pursed before taking another sip, “my mother likely would have hunted me down and killed me had I not made at least a single appearance this summer.”
“Awee.” He grinned, signalling to the bartender for a refill on his bourbon, “so you’re only here short term? I thought maybe we’d managed to steal you away from that ridiculous law school dream.”
“I’ve got one year left.” You laughed, “at least let me get the degree and pass the bar before you think it’s a good idea to trap me back in Washington.”
“Oh so that is a possibility?” He chuckled, picking up his fresh drink as he raised a cocky brow at you and you did your best not to roll your eyes.
“The plan’s New York but I guess if I get the right offer, it could be here.”
“Yeah?” He smiled down at you, his fingers toying with the sleeve of your dress, “what if the offer was an eight million dollar home near Capitol Hill, a couple of gorgeous golden retrievers, a few little rugrats running around the house and pretty diamond ring on that pretty little finger of yours?” His hand traced down your arm to your left hand, pinching at your finger and you scoffed, pulling your hand away and swatting at him.
“Brock, come on, you are not my type and you know it. We played Wendy and Peter Pan in grade six, and you’ve been obsessed with the idea ever since. Get over it. You’re not part of my future.”
“Darlin’ that doesn’t matter, believe me.” He chuckled taking a sip of his drink, “I’ll be your type by the time we’re through.”
“Contrary to your belief, I’m not into Peter’s anymore. Besides, I’m seeing someone.”
“Really?” He raised a brow, looking around the room, “I certainly don’t see him here.”
“She…isn’t here.”
“Why not?” He grinned, “marital troubles?”
“No.” you rolled your eyes, “you know how this shit works, I can’t bring people home.”
“Your mom loves me.” He chuckled, pinching at your waist again, “fuck them, bring me home.”
“Brock I swear to god.” You huffed, downing your glass of champagne.
Before he could speak again an Aunt you hadn’t seen in years suddenly invaded your other side and you were incredibly thankful for the distraction. You completely turned your back on him in hopes that the interruption would make him leave, let him find some other floozy to pay attention to. You were honestly surprised with how long your Aunt kept you occupied, rattling on about one thing after another, asking you about law school over and over again until one of her daughters came to drag her away and you finally turned back to the bar with a soft sigh.
Your lips pursed when you found Brock still beside you, and he slid a fresh glass of champagne toward you.
“Refill?” He grinned and you did your best to smile.
“Thanks.”
“Now where were we?” He asked, stepping toward you and you stepped back as you took your first sip.
“Uhm… nowhere.” You laughed, “I’m going to finish this drink, try to leave without anyone noticing, go home and call my girlfriend.”
You picked up the flute from the bar, raising it in Brock’s direction before you wandered off in an attempt to find Kim, make sure she was okay before you left. You managed to find her pretty quick, and upon a brief hello and a shot of tequila with her and Brad you were shuttled on your way. Knowing she was okay you glanced through the space, the edges of your vision nearly blurring and you knew you needed to go home. Despite being the furthest thing from a lightweight, you guessed you’d had one too many shots tonight. You found Ethan and Sarah in the crowd, quickly saying goodnight to them before you managed to get yourself out to the entrance.
You felt a little weak on your feet, your mind hazy, your vision swerving as you tried to talk to the valet. An arm suddenly wrapped tightly around your waist,
“Hey, I got you.” A familiar voice spoke softly, lips nearly brushing against the shell of your ear before speaking to the worker, “I’ve got her, don’t worry, she had a bit too much to drink. Here, I’m gonna take her home.” An arm reached out in your peripheral vision to hand the ticket to them, “c’mon. Let’s get you home.”
“Ugh. Ethan… thanks.” You mumbled, your memory going black the moment the passenger side door was shut behind you.

Hi! I hope you're having a good day. I'm supposed to be doing homework, but I got distracted by the booping thing and now I'm here.
If you have the time, I'd like to request a romantic matchup with a Tokyo Revengers character. I'm nonbinary - they/them pronouns - and pansexual (I apologize if this creates too big of a pool for characters). I can't say that I have a type either. Whether it be someone who's soft and kind or confident and strong headed, I'm weak for them. What can I say, I love a little bit of everyone. I'm an INFP-T who is often drowning in overdue homework only to pull a few all-nighters back to back to catch up, and cry even though I put myself in that position (my sleep schedule is in shambles). My parents are protective of me because I'm the youngest of the children by a decade and not very strong. I'm an even 5'. Paired with shitty eyesight and small frame, I'm not menacing at all. It also doesn't help that I greet everyone with a smile, even when faced with snarky comments or someone I'm greatly upset with. Of course, this doesn't mean I won't get angry later and rant for a good hour or so through tears. For some reason, no matter how calm I am on the inside, I start crying when crying to express myself in serious situations. (if anyone has an idea on how to stop this, please help)
Since I'm nonbinary, I try to lean into a more androgynous look, but my mom still tries to instill a sense of "womanhood" in me (which gives me anxiety and a lot of body dysphoria). It makes me lean away from more feminine colors in clothing, which sucks because I'm a stickler for a cute pastel shirt. That being said, I try not to let that get to me by wearing whatever I want because I also strongly believe that colors and clothes don't relate to gender. I usually wear baggier tops at least because I can't buy a binder yet.
I like listening to people talk about themselves or anything that interests them, as long as they don't mind me rambling about something also. My mom has told me I'd make a really good therapist because I always help her break down her problems and get a different view on things. My sister vents to me frequently because she feels I offer a place of no judgement and she can speak freely.
A lot of my personal joy comes from seeing others happy. In a friend group, I'm often the one trying to include everyone and make people laugh, even if I'm anxious myself. Even though I can get swept up in my emotions, I always stop and think about things in a logical view (which sometimes leads to me taking action before realizing I should've thought it through). I definitely wouldn't do well in the TKR universe in terms of fighting, but I'd probably figure out some way to be helpful because I hate feeling like I'm not contributing anything. I also like to think I have a pretty good pain tolerance, so maybe I could buy time or something.
I've been told I'm very extroverted and outgoing, but I actually have a low social battery and often find myself overwhelmed in social outings with lots of people or loud noises. I almost started crying in downtown Seattle and New York City when I was on vacation (even though I was having fun). This can lead me to shutting down at times and going relatively non-verbal. Overall, I'd describe my personality as laid-back, open-minded, and not confrontational. I try to push my way through my insecurities and short-comings, but things hardly work out the way I want them to.
I like video games and sleeping in, but I'll push my own hobbies aside for people I enjoy hanging out with. I'm not too picky about food, as long as it isn't spicy (i'm a bit of a wimp). I also really enjoy sweets - cakes, pastries, cookies, candies, chocolates. I love them all. I often end up not eating because I either get distracted or I simply don't feel like it. Technically, I'm allergic to dairy and tomatoes and I can get really nauseous or itchy, but my favorite foods often have those ingredients so I act like I'm immune.
Anyways, I apologize for the long description. I hope I followed all your rules and gave you everything you need. Please take your time, I am in no rush and I know life is always busy. I hope you have a good day!
Hello. The wait it finally over. Sorry it took so long. Things got crazy. Let's just jump right into it!
You Got...
Souya Kawata!!!!
Tumblr media
He is really good with people and very patient. If you got overwhelmed and needed time, he would be there for you anyway he can.
He would make you the best foo. Anything you want, he will make!
He is a good listener. Will listen to you for hours
Would tell you everyday that you are amazing and that he loves for you!
He would protect you. You being safe is the most important thing to him!
He would help you get anything done that you need. He would keep you on track.
He would like that you are laid back. He already has Smiley, so someone in his life who is chill would be nice.
Video game dates. He would play a mean Mario Kart. I think he would pick Yoshi!
I hope you enjoy

Hopper and I have known each other since we were in high school together. We didn’t do a lot together, but we would take smoke breaks out in the back of the school trying out hardest to stay away from old gym teacher who never seemed to notice that we were gone from class.
Hopper and I spent some other time together, but it was always Hoppers sister and I who went out and did things. Y/n and I would go shopping at the strip malls in the outer towns lines. She would drive us to the lake and during the summer we would sun bathe. All while talking about the guys that would never have a chance with us.
It was funny, Y/n and I had only meant because of Hopper. A party for the last year of the 50’s/. Jim had brought cigs, and alcohol while Y/n and I had trued our hardest to gather the hottest guys from the school. Y/n and I didn’t bother staying for to long just long enough to watch the drunks guys try there shot at ping pong shots, and beer kegs stands.
Years went on and Jim left for the army, and I married Byers. Everything was going smoothy. Y/n and I had lost connection when she moved with Jim to New york and it was just the end of that. I had my kids Jonathan and Will. My boys after their father had left. Everything was going fine. Smoothly I thought at least.
1983
That’s when everything went wrong and right at the same fucked up time. Will had gone missing, 12 years old and just gone in the middle of the night. I needed some sort of help, and there was nobody else to think of besides Mr. Jim Hopper. He was now the chief of police in our little town of Hawkins and I need so desperately the help of a Hopper.
Now four years later and after fighting the monsters of the upside down and watching so many hurt and even killed. Eveyrthing was at peace. Jim’s sister had come back after Hopper had sent her a call telling her that Will had been lost and then found again, and that he had adopted a girl by the name of Jane.
Y/n came back. She was as beautiful as she was when we were in high school thirty years ago. She stood a little taller then her brother, and wasa force to be reckoned with as she told her brother what to do most of the time when she arrived to Hawkins.
It had been a few days since I had last heard from Y/n as I had taken a trip with my boys down to florida. A much needed trip to get away from the bullshit town of Hawkins and the horrible things that seemed to taint the town in darkness and cruelty. It was also a chance to let Jonathen to see what else was out there for schools.
Our last night in the hot florida air, I called a direct phone call to Hawkins. To Y/n’s home but the call was sent to her answering machine. It had been going to the answering machine for the past week. I gathered maybe that Y/n had just been out of the house every time I called.
That was far from the truth when we arrived back in Hawkins. The drive back home felt like there was something wrong. The deep seeded feeling in the pit of my stomach was telling me something was going wrong as we drove home. Everything told me to stop the car and call Hopper, but if something had gone wrong then he would have called would have tired at least.
Y/n, Jim, and I were the best of friends. The past four years bringing us closer then we were in high school. The trauma and the stress of losing my kids and the help of Y/n and Jim in the search for Will. Like I had thought something was wrong.
Very wrong.
When I went over to Y/n’s. Something felt off, her light were off and the door was locked. I took a minute before letting my anxiety get the best of me. I didn’t need another break down, another missing person that I loved. Disappeared within only a few days. I called Jim. I needed answers to my ever growing questions that were storming in and through my mind.
The phone rang and rang through, until it stopped. It was El who answered the phone. “Hello??” I said as the line finally went through. “Hey, Ms.Byers.” El responded. “Where is Hopper? Where is Y/n? She’s not at her house and she hasn’t been answering her phone.” I rambled on and on, until I was what felt like out of air to breathe and words to say.
El started to explain.
“Ms.Byers, Aunt Y/n is in the hospital. She was at home when it happen Hopper and I went by to visit for lunch when she must have fell and hurt herself while trying to get things done before the hot summer air killed what looked like her garden. Hopper said that you would call and to tell you that they were in the hospital.” Eleven went on to explain that Hopper had called the EMS shortly after finding her and realizing that she was still alive.
I hung up the phone after Eleven finished her sentence. Running out from Y/n’s house I didn’t even have time to check the road behind me as I pulled out from the drive way. I speed but least be honest the only that cares what I do I me, and maybe Hopper but he’s not exactly the greatest driver in the world.
I drove so fast that when I managed to get into the hospital I was nearly out of breathe. When I walked into the hositpal the reception lady was so sweet. She lead me towards the hospital guide. “You’ll just go down that hallway and turn left. You just need to get to ICU right?” She asked me. I shook my head and fiddled my fingers. “Alright sweetie, just go right down. If anyone stops you just tell them you’re trying to get to your friend.” She said before I left trailing down the hallway.
When I made it to Y/n’s room I just stood out in the doorframe. She looked so at peace. Her hands were above the sheets that covered her body. I just stood there for a few moments. “She’s just been sleeping for the past few couple of days.” I heard Jim say from behind me. I stayed still. “What happened?”
It was a inquisitive question by all means. One that Jim probably had no answer for. I bet even Y/n didn’t have an answer for me. “The docs say it was something to do with vertigo. She had fallen into her garden. Hit her head pretty hard on the ground gave herself a good hit on the noggin’. El and I were able to find her pretty soon.” Hopper said.
I could feel the tears starting to roll down my cheeks. As I tired desperately to not be loud and erupt into a fountain of tears. Jim hugged me as I crumlbed from the inside out. The tears only last a few moments before I pull away from Jims grip on me and my shoulders. I take a shaky breathe before looking up at Jim. “Can I go sit with her?” I ask him. He gives me a short smile before leading me into the cold room.
“I’ll call Jonathan, and Will let them know where their mother went, okay Joyce.” Jim said behind me as I gathered myself to sit beside Y/n. We sat for a few minutes as Jim left the room to give us some privacy. I started speaking.
“You know Y/n I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous about walking into a hospital. Or hell even getting to see a person I love. I know I’m the best most of the times, and I get flustered all of the times. Y/n.” I continued saying, but the squeeze of my hand gave me distraction.
“Joyce you mustn’t worry about me like you always have.” Y/n said. I couldn’t help myself but start to cry. I tired to resist the urge to hug her but Y/n opened her arms up to me and gave me the strength to fall into her arms. “Oh, Y/n you can’t scare me like that. I wou;dn’t know what to do with out you in my arms.”
“Is that a confession?” Y/n asked in a sweet and addicting voice. “A confession of what I already know.” Y/n continued on. I curbed my smile, before falling even more into what for the first time I was reliaze was something called love.
“We can say it at the same time, if you’d like?” Y/n asked. “Say it at the same time?” I questioned. “Joyce, at the same time.” Y/n said with a smile on her face. The urge to smile was grand and I fell into the best kiss of my entire life. Nothing with my ex-husband had ever felt likethis. A tiny teenaged makeouts ever felt like this either.
Sparks of flowing nature.
Will and Jonthan walked in with Jim behind them. “Aunt Y/n, We’re so glad you’re okay. Mom said something was wrong and dropped us off at the house and drove off like a maniac.” Will said in a ramble of words.

all-of-a-kind family: jewish sisters on the lower east side in turn of the century new york. i read so many books with that premise but these were my favorites. uhh there were 5 of them, oldest was ella and then i think hattie and then sarah, charlotte, and gertie. it was a series and later there was a little brother who had to get his name changed because he fell down a manhole (long story). they went to the library and coney island and ate soup and did jewish holidays. probably at least 15% responsible for my fixation on nyc. they were everything to me.
the year of the dog: book about an asian-american girl growing up. her name is pacy and she likes to draw. has a lot of conflicted feelings about being american vs. being part of her family's culture which i related a lot to for reasons that i'm sure you can guess
cobble street cousins: 3 cousins growing up on a street?? actually it was two sisters (lily and rosie) and their cousin tess. they had a cool aunt who was dating a botanist. tess was a broadway nerd. they had a cool attic hideaway. the books were excruciatingly cozy i love them
project mulberry: ANOTHER one about asian-american girls feeling conflicted about culture are you noticing a theme here. uhh a girl and her friend who collects state quarters do a science fair project raising silkworms and then trying to embroider something with them. they get help from a guy who has a mulberry tree and is black and her mom has to confront her inner racism. at one point the author talks to the main character in like the footnotes for some reason
the pushcart war: LOVE THIS ONE SO SO MUCH BTW EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT. uhh its new york in Very Slightly The Future. (it was like 1940s when this was written but the date gets changed with every reprint.) everything is the same but traffic is slightly worse. its supposed to read like an account of an actual historical event. pushcart peddlers get fed up with being literally pushed around by truck drivers and get organized. using pea shooters they make the trucks get flat tires so that everyone can see that they're the main problem of traffic. does a surprisingly good job going into all the ways seemingly small political action can have effects (newspaper articles, local government elections, other unions being affected, even trade with other nations). not exactly a union novel but basically a union novel (to this day i still think of a certain part of it whenever someone brings up union dues). basically radicalized kid me if we're being honest.
the fairy rebel: well it was either that or the rebel fairy can't remember. really weird one honestly. okay so a woman named jan hurts her leg and can't dance and also can't have kids and is like clinically depressed about it. weird beginning to a kids book but it gets weirder. a fairy shows up and makes friends with her and in exchange for jan teaching the fairy what jeans are the fairy makes a magic baby for jan. the baby has a streak of magic blue hair. there are also magic rose presents. the fairy queen is evil and has evil wasps and gives the kid an evil necklace and does some really fucked up stuff like nearly crush the kid under toys. it's okay eventually though i think
haunted doll one: okay so i read this at a campground once and it's probably the most genuinely obscure one on here but. a girl finds a doll and like. touches it? or picks it up or something? and somehow the doll transports her back in time to like a wagon chain exploring the west or whatever. and i think the doll is there in prairie times too. can't remember if the modern girl like possesses the original owner of the doll on the wagon chain or if she just gets prairie isekai'd but i think it's like a recurring event. also at some point someone gets bit by a snake and maybe dies. i don't remember how it ends but the general vibes of the thing terrified kid me So Much that it's haunted me ever since. if you remember this book please tell me

Conrad fisher
Insufficient
Tumblr media
beginning of summer, everything was going well, you had a perfect life or at least you thought you did. His family was getting along well despite the problems between the uncles after his grandfather's bite, you are in an "almost relationship" with the boy of your dreams and everything was perfect.
But not everything is perfect,With summer arriving automatically comes his biggest nightmare: the Conklin Or rather Isabel Conklin the girl you think is perfect.
Their almost relationship is none other than Conrad, the dream boy. You always knew that Conrad and Belly's bond was always big, VERY big actually, and it scared you.The fear of losing the love of your life scares you, the fear of being exchanged for someone better than yourself, assuring you that there is no one better than you, you always have that insecurity with someone.
Jere was your best friend for a while and that brought you some information that belly is in love with conrad, he was always just like you and you knew you had to be reciprocal even though jeremiah said he only saw her as steve's little sister.
The day before your first kiss with conrad you heard the conklin family was on the way and it made you nervous but never let it show. You were on your way to the fisher house Susannah had asked you to befriend Belly, you wanted to decline but couldn't, she had asked for you right away, not for any other girl for you and how would you say no?
Just around the corner, the beach house was visible, huge, you walked for a few seconds and you could already see a car, probably Susannah's best friend or belly's mother, whatever.
when arriving at the huge house you saw the four, jere, conrad, steve and belly, they looked happy. You made a sound in your throat to get their attention, conrad was looking at you confused, with a strange face actually everyone was.
- What are you doing here? - that were the words of conrad rather rude
- I called her. - Susannah appeared at the door with an infectious smile on her face.
You watched her walk up to you and give you a side hug
- So Belly Steve, this is Y/N.Y/n these are Steve and Belly - She spoke introducing each other.
- Hi - was all you managed to say other than sending them a smile.
Jere pulled his mom a little and you could hear him asking
- Mom? why did you call her - He asked with some trepidation
- I called her to chat with Belly and maybe make friends - Susannah pronounced with a smile - And who knows, you might be friends again, now go there and be polite - She gave him a little push.
- So Y/N, are you from here? - belly started to bring up the subject
- Yes and no, I was born in New York but I've lived here for as long as I can remember.
-
After a while you were in the belly room, helping to unpack, after the boys had thrown it in the pool to cover any ritual between them.
- How long have you known the fisher? - she asked you
- A few years ago, I always heard about them but I hadn't really met them, as time went by I ended up bumping into Jere at a party and since then we've become best friends That was until he stopped talking to me on the networks and asked me out. So we just don't talk anymore
- Wow, I never imagined that from jere, he's so cheerful with everyone and never forgets about anyone unless he's hungover but you never looked for him?
- I sent a few messages but I didn't get back to him, he didn't answer any so he probably didn't want to know - I said honestly - and what's it like being with 3 boys? - she widened her eyes - Not literally staying, I mean what is it like to live with them? - quickly reworked.
- It's normal, there aren't many things, usually I can never go out with them.
We spent the whole afternoon talking, she was nice, very nice, that explains the way conrad looked at her not only he jere him too, she is anyone's dream girl.
It was almost night and I was thinking about going to the "fire party" but I didn't want to go alone, so I called her, at least I have someone to talk to.
"the boys would never let me go" - she said with a sad smile
- and who said they need to leave anything? - I said with a mischievous smile on my lips.
And off you two went, the party. Right when we arrived Steve the super protective brother or at least he tries to be a slight tantrum and I just said I'd take care of her even though she's not a kid anymore.
- why did you bring her - says conrad getting up from where he was with a girl - hey she wanted to come and I didn't want to come alone, so we came together - I replied.
- Just take care of her - he said pleading with his eyes
And that's when I realized I was the intruder, the way Conrad looked at her was beautiful, he really likes her and made that clear. She likes her too it's plastered on her face all the time
She spent the afternoon telling me about him, and the sparkle in her eyes was clear, there was no way to hide it.
They really liked each other and didn't assume, jere had said that he looked at her like a child but apparently it's not like that anymore or maybe it never was.
Conrad was worried, he looked at her all the time, maybe because she is beautiful, and has a beautiful smile and is all perfect. One thing I know I'm not, not like her and I know I won't make him worried, that only belly can do, not even the girl he was with at the beginning of the party can do that.
I was near the water, thinking, when I felt the presence of someone. I knew it was him, I so wanted it to be anyone but him.
- What are you thinking - He asked
There is if he knew everything that's going on in my head right now, everything.
- Belly - I replied with a sigh
- Belly? O que ela? - He questioned looking at me deeply
- She's beautiful, she has a beautiful smile, she's fun and...
- Which is?
- And it's perfect for you conrad.
- What? what do you mean by that?
- I noticed the way you look at each other, your concern for her, I realized that your world is her and that you are happy when you see her, there is always a little smile on your lips when you see her, that's obvious. And I know you don't look at me like that, and you won't worry about me so much. - I stopped, analyzing his eyes upon hearing my words.
- Y/N no no, that's wrong, I'm not in the mood for belly, I don't look at her like you say, I... - he was nervous, he didn't know what words to use.
- Conrad? I just don't want to delude myself ok? yours is her, I know that and I know there's no use denying it.
I kept walking, knowing he was standing still.
- Y/N I love you. - he said in a low voice and you just kept walking knowing it was better to leave him.

Any headcanons about your fave characters and ships you want to share? 🙂🙂
Why is it ALWAYS the way that whenever I get asked this, I seem to immediately forget all my headcanons? I love talking about my headcanons and I always want to have the opportunity to share them, but each and every time my mind panics and forgets them.
I've thought this over for a couple days and been casually writing up my answer but I don't think I'm going to remember much else that I've already written, or that I don't want to share because I hate feeling like people are Judging me (those headcanons are for Cíara's ears only apparently lol).
I've spent an awful amount of time thinking about Kim, so all of these will be around her. And some of these are ones that are shared/developed with Cíara.
Because I've always got a soft spot for lingess' friendship: Erin and Kim are still friends, and still keep in touch. If they ever see each other in person, it has to be Kim visiting her in New York, which she has, albeit not very much due to both of their works. Kim hasn't managed to go to see her since at least 2019, though. I have more headcanons about this but I'll keep it just as this.
I've talked about this one before and to my ire canon keeps trying to make this seem less and less likely for me to pretend is canon lol - Sylvie and Kim are close friends. They try to have a girls night and they originally bonded over having failed engagements. As an extension of this, which is one that came from Cíara, girls' night usually consists of Sylvie, Kim and Severide.
Zoe, Kim's niece, was born when Kim was 17. As per canon, Kim was kind of a nightmare as a teen, so I headcanon that Zoe's birth is what grounded her more, because Zoe deserved an aunt.
These ones changes occasionally depending how I feel and what works best for my fic usually, but Kim graduated at 17, not 18 and/or for a year or so, she primarily actually lived with her sister and her husband because she didn't want to be at home. Her BIL was never much a fan of this.
Kim knew she wanted to be a cop from when she was at least in her teens, but she then got some doubts when she was waiting to be of the age requirement - and she had always loved flying and being a flight attendant, she really fell in love with it. She had applied for the academy but while she was waiting to get in, she had doubts about whether or not she'll actually do it. Then one day at work, there was trouble and she helped in taking down the troublemaker and the rush she got convinced her being a cop was her calling.
Some of her pilot friends were sort of disappointed at this because they were trying to convince her to become a pilot/go back to uni and do something in aviation.
Her flight attendant friends never really understood why she wanted to be a cop, and especially after the (first) shooting, they drifted apart because they just weren't the same people.
Kim and her mom no longer talk, and while their relationship had always been rocky, Kim stopped putting in the effort after the engagement fell apart because even though Adam didn't meet her, Kim couldn't get over that her mom only being in town one night made the situation that much worse. Her mother's opinions on the failed engagement, then especially when she made intelligence sealed that.
Kim hates being beholden to her family's money so she, since getting into adulthood, has steadfastly refused to accept any and all money from them.
She had cousins in another state who while didn't have as much money as Kim's side did, had loving parents and Kim growing up was always very envious.
Kim hates talking about her past, even with Adam. As a result, especially now she's more open with him, they'll be little, relatively minor, bits of information that she forgets she never told Adam and some of these will be things she has told Kev and she'll bring these information up around Adam only to learn, no he didn't know that. Kev finds it amusing.
Kim paints.
Kim dreads the day Mack will one day ask about Kim's own parents, especially her father who, after her parents' divorce, none of Kim's family speak to.
Trudy and Kim has bonded together over trashy romance novels and will routinely recommend each other ones. This started after the first engagement fell through.
Kim still keeps somewhat in touch with Meredith and Michelle.
Adam's sister doesn't like Kim, and never has. His mom feels similarly but less confrontational.
Kim feels similar towards them, although she is always a little sad because growing up, she dreamt that one day she'll get the family she wanted in the form of her in-laws.
I think that's all I have for now, but I hope you enjoyed reading them. I have a lot more when they came from!
Thank you for asking! :)
