I know I just made a post about Sunday being a little "yandere" but ugh I'm thinking about soft moments with him...

When you're in public, he always has a hand on the small of your back, or you hold on to his arm. He always insists on this so you don't get lost, especially in large crowds.

The cute nicknames you have for each other. His for you being beloved, dearest, and darling. You call him "your angel".

Preening his wings. He's hesitant at first because they are very sensitive. But once he allows it he relaxes into your touch, softly humming. Once you're done, you give him a quick kiss to the top of his head.

Doing your nightly routines together before bed. When there are days either of you are exhausted, the other will help them. There have been several nights where Sunday will help your exhausted body out of your clothes and into comfortable pajamas. As well there have been several nights where you gently wash Sunday's hair and massage his tense muscles in the bath.

Sleepless nights where he reads to you while you lay your head on his chest. Where you talk all night about whatever comes into your minds.

The way he almost always asks for permission before kissing you. And they way that he holds you in his arms like you're the whole world as he does so.

Anyway - positives this year so far: I've reconnected with the night sky. By chance mainly, but I've spent a good few evenings out. Luna and Venus, the moon being in the right position to take photos from the room at 2am each night. This little walk today was soothing. I bought a biography of a british comedian who passed a few years back - it was ultra cheap and by sheer chance (and not advertised) it's a signed edition. Spent some time in a woodland at sunset. My camera's not in perfect working order, but it's capturing things well enough. There's so many little things I'm forgetting - things that have lined up perfectly since January 1st. Oh and my mutuals! Just the best people and always lovely to interact with and see on my dash 🖤

Primal Fears AU content but don’t worry it’s still sonadow

That last one is a repost from last year so if you saw the silly drawings but then read the thing in the bottom left corner and went “wait what the fuck”

It’s because it was an AU thing but I literally only had that drawn out and now you get some context at least:

In this universe Sonic is an assassin/bounty hunter/whatever you wanna call a guy that is hired to specifically to kill other Entities. He meets Shadow when they run into each other because they’re both following the same Avatar. Then they do the normal canon sonadow thing where the first interaction they have always ends with them fighting and beating the shit out of each other. And then they kinda calm down but then Shadow has a similar moment from the beginning of the IDW Sonic comics where he gets absolutely pissed that Sonic managed to distract him from catching the bad guy and zooms away before the two have another chance to speak again.

Here Shadow is a GUN field agent except in this universe GUN isn’t really military and it’s more focused on not only investigating (like the Magnus Institute) but also actively dealing with the Entities. Which sounds great except remember how I said they aren’t military well actually they kinda are because “dealing” with Entities and Avatars just means: throw it in the high-security prison that is guarded by other various Avarars that all work for GUN because it means they don’t have to get thrown in prison. So GUN is kinda like The Magnus Institute + Section 31 working together. So actually I guess it’s like the SCP Foundation.

One day Shadow goes into work and Sonic and there and I’m not really sure on what I’m gonna do in the plot to make him end up there (like maybe he’s undercover and just using GUN to get to his next target or maybe GUN does the “hey we’re gonna throw you in jail if you don’t agree to work for us” idk again not sure yet) but now he’s working with Shadow because they still need to catch that Avatar.

So now we’re sorta caught up, they’re at Club Rouge (and I realized I didn’t specify which Entity she serves in my drawing of her but people who guessed the Stranger ding ding ding here have some sonadow) because Sonic and Shadow need to kinda interrogate Surge and Amy, who are associated with the Slaughter. They have a band called Poison Rose and it’s basically just Grifter’s Bone but they perform rock music instead. And are also probably dating.

Anyway the Big Case™️ Sonic and Shadow are working on is investigating a bunch of spooky murders and they’re pretty sure whoever’s behind them is a Slaughter avatar. But not specifically Amy and Surge☝️ They’re kinda “allowed” to perform the Music That Makes You Die because GUN also has like an “informant” group of avatars they can rely on. These avatars don’t work for GUN, but they agree to chill out on the spooky stuff if it means they don’t get arrested for spooky crimes. So for Poison Rose, “chilling out” on the spooky stuff means that they have to force people to wear earplugs while they perform, which wasn’t specifically stated in MAG 42 if that works or not, not really sure of the magic rules of the Music That Makes You Die phenomena but yeah they gotta do that and probably some other stuff so GUN doesn’t arrest them. Like maybe no swearing or something lol.

Okay gonna stop there before this gets even longer explaining my AU because this was supposed to be just a normal sketch post but whoops.

Oh also I made a playlist for the kind of music Poison Rose performs but it was made private because I didn’t want anyone to stumble across it and be like “pshhhh this dumb person who makes public playlists of their AU that no one knows about what a loser” (me when I make up completely unrealistic scenarios in my head) but now here’s a post explaining that part of my AU so that person can’t make fun of me anymore

When Mapicc did things that hurt Zam she was okay with laying her head low, apologising, changing her morals, working around her oath, and sticking by Mapicc.

Zam did things that hurt Mapicc. They were never directed at him, Often they were done out of refusal to fight him directly. Yet Mapicc still saw the lack of support during Mawn, and how Zam threw hearts at Bacon (when he was their enemy) as betrayal. And was hurt.

Due to Mapicc’s reactions to being hurt being usually violent, and directed towards Zam, it’s easier for his feelings and needs to be overshadowed compared to Zam’s in discussions. Because he sees himself as the victim even after being the perpetrator of some real damaging stuff - stuff that is often way worse than the what is done against him. Because yeah, Despite everything that happened to both of them, Mapicc is sitting on a comfortable 20 hearts, while Zam is on 4 BECAUSE of Mapicc and how many times she has been killed by him. Mapicc’s response to things is usually fighting and violence. He has self preservation and self interest very high on his priority list. While Zam’s n1 response to situations is usually self sabotage. That’s why their conflicts work so well. Zam throws herself at Mapicc many times, and just accepts whatever the outcome is (most of the time she knows she’s gonna lose).

But still Mapicc’s original worries and feelings are still valid. And they come out of a place of care for Zam and insecurity in himself. He just doesn't know how to deal with them. When he’s in a heated discussion with Zam he starts saying how "if killing you is gonna end this conversation, then i will do it” just another way of saying “i would rather hurt you than deal with my own feelings”.

It’s crazy to me that they both seem to not see the care and effort they each put into their relationship. it seems to be all about "who used who more" when, it genuinely is not about that. (Recently yes. Mapicc admitted to using Zam for the flame fight when wanting to cut her off. and yesterday he wanted to use her to get Mane with the arrow cannon). But all this talk about using one another is.. Quite frankly useless.

When Mapicc first mentioned the feeling of being used by Zam, it was all about his jealousy towards Derapchu, Zam’s new 20 heart teammate, and not being included in plans anymore. He felt like Zam was just calling him whenever she was in danger and needed help. Yet during *that talk* After the flame void trap, Zam asked Mapicc to stay by her side, and Mapicc refused. And says “if you ever need help with a fight or are in a dire situation. call me”, when he was accusing Zam of only using him for fights prior to this. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy. He only sees Himself useful in pvp. So mainly renders himself available for pvp fights. Or it could be projection? He accuses others of seeing him only for PVP skill. When He's the first one to do that. During the same talk he says “I provide what? pvp skill, that’s what i'm saying bro, that’s all i'm good for” And assumes everyone else does too… And I genuinely think this is what this misunderstanding all boils down to: Mapicc’s insecurities about himself, and his place next to people. After a teamless season, Zam pulling away might’ve gone better if it didn’t, in his eyes, prove exactly Mapicc’s worries. (but he's also an hypocrite as he's the first one to throw Zam away when the empire logged back on).

Mapicc pushes his feelings, and Zam, away. Says he didn’t mean the apology that day, because being angry has always been easier than being vulnerable for Mapicc. And this time Zam just doesn’t take it. All this time of having Mapicc’s insecurities being projected onto her, Mapicc actually uses her for the creeking thing, blows up her flower field and he couldn't be more blunt about his hatred for her, when all she's done is be there for him. And she snaps. “Mapicc should’ve known him this way. He just used me”, and looks back and picks apart every single thing Mapicc has done wrong to her, which to be fair. There is a lot. But also conveniently leaves out all of the hearts he gave her, she leaves out how many times Mapicc jumped back into a fight just to try and save Zam, Even though it didn’t benefit him directly. She leaves out how the other day Mapicc left her a heart in a chest. When you have the full picture you KNOW these two care about each other.

They’re so used to being by each other's side, and so bad at communicating the care they have for one another, that the second something goes wrong all they’re left with is their unresolved feelings, that they never got over, and use it as a weapon to hurt the other.

When Zam accuses Mapicc of using her, he replies “how did I use you, what did I get out of you exactly”. Even telling Minute “how did I use him, he’s the dropper” again giving this image of how he sees other’s (and by extension his) value through their fighting skills. As if "It wouldn't make sense that he would use Zam, because she is not as skilled as pvp as him". This of course isn’t what he actually believes. It was almost what he wanted Zam to believe, (and what he wants to believe himself, but he cannot even stick to this version in his head, as he replies that "I never said you did nothing" to Zam. when that's exactly what he was implying) because that is easier to explain, it makes more sense for “Mapicc” to believe that than for him to admit a “i care about you”.

And when Mapicc was alone with his thoughts, he thought about what Zam was saying to him... Did he actually use her? He says that, if he did, it wasn't on purpose.... Well except that one time. Which he sees as justified since Zam gave hearts to his enemy! Bacon... who... is now his teammate...... huh.... and the team really wants them to reconcile and he realizes that it just not might be his call as he was the one that farmed her until she was at 4 hearts... hmmm........ I'm so excited to see where this will go.

helllooo kai :3 for the AMA, um, have you read luke's diary? what are your general thoughts abt it and how did it affect your perception of luke? 👀

of course i've read the diary of luke castellan 😣😣😣 thats my WIFE!

at the time that i read it, luke explicitly calling himself the "dad" of the broken trio surprised me a LOT—not because i hadn't thought of that characterization aspect. moreso because i was surprised that rick made him say it outright, especially considering that diary of luke castellan is in the same book as staff of hermes, which then has percy "confirm" that luke had feelings for annabeth when he died... 😭 tbh i've been wondering since forever if dlc was a snippet of maybe a thought experiment rick wrote during the pjato days which he just rehashed for publication in the demigod diaries, which would explain this wild parkour... evidence of rick's editor/s once more not doing what they should be doing

so yeah. i love dlc, but on the front of luke's character, it didn't? really tell me anything new about him that i didn't already know, maybe except how explicitly parentified he was even in his own head

the more novel aspect of dlc to me tbh was apollo's impact on the story, manifested through halcyon's character. imo, apollo in that short story is maybe the closest a god in the rrverse comes to being an echo of how they are in the mythos, and i wish we got to see more of that characterization! hal green is luke's first brush with the tragic greek hero-isms that eventually become his fate, too, and it does confirm that luke's wrath doesn't 100% stem from his and may's experiences (the people who claim that luke did it all because of his daddy issues can go SUCK IT. it's almost as if people can draw on multiple experience from their own lives as well as others' when making decisions, and driving motivations aren't always clear-cut).

and, if i may be so bold, hal green is absolutely proof that the titan war playing out the way it did is thanks to the collective efforts of the olympians. not that the fandom doesn't know that—but what i mean is: other than the vaguely sweeping child neglect, specific gods committed specific actions that, when the effects of all those were combined, perfectly set up the stage for kronos being able to manipulate luke and a lot of other demigod children. hermes is self-explanatory. zeus and hades, by trying to kill each other's families, get thalia murked in the process, which tbh is the festering wound that drives so much of luke's grief. now add apollo in... that's a specific incident of luke seeing how the gods can be extremely cruel to their own children. the gods themselves helped fulfill the prophecy that almost destroyed them. (and if you take son of magic as gospel canon, zeus and hera are contributing factors to why demigods are hunted by monsters.) are you picking up what im laying down

unfortunately, rick tries to pretend that luke and the gods' in-universe ethical conundrum doesnt exist anymore, because we get no mention of halcyon at all in toa (which we can't even chalk up to rick's inconsistency; we know he's perfectly capable of going back to his short stories and picking out assets that he can use for later stories eg iapetus/bob). but then again im not surprised because given the quality of his later works, i dont think rick could handle writing anything about hal properly LMAO

We never invited him to come along, we never even told him where we were going, and now he chooses to leave his former tower? I might be gullible to him, but knowing him as well as I do, I think that's enough evidence for me to think that he's not followed us purely to enact revenge."

"At least its comforting to know you've thought this through at all; but it still seems like the idea of a madman! Is there no safer way at all to-- ourgh, befriend--- him?"

"Perhaps, who's to say sharing his mindscape for so long didn't make me a madman either. I simply cannot help but not be the one to ostracize him, whenever he's ready he can come talk, but I won't treat him unequally."
