A friend of mine is really into Warriors, which means I now know more about Warrior Cats than I ever thought I would. Also means I'm finally learning how to draw cats.

Love how whenever there are two sister protagonists in Warriors people are going to design one of them as lanky and pointy (Ivypool and Twigbranch) and the other as short and thick (Dovewing and Violetshine)
Except for Squirrelflight and Leafpool. They're both fat and we're all shaking hands on that

no fear:
“dovewing dies offscreen or in between books/se and gives ivypool a life of either forgiveness or the standard mother’s love in the case she becomes ivystar”

least favorite warriors ship(s)?
no pressure!!
Blackstar x Sol — Idk why people like this ship so much when it's literally just Sol preying on Blackstar's vulnerabilities & rocky faith, then tricking him with false indoctrination for his own gain lol. It's abusive as shit, and if you see them as exes or Blackstar having feelings for him then sure that's totally fine! But actively endorsing them is wack as fuck bro.
Leafpool x Crowfeather — Just really annoying imo, I don't really like either of them that much in the first place so everytime I had to endure their "forbidden love" arc I wanted to just explode.
Stormfur x Squirrelpaw/flight — Stormfur's POV in TNP every time he saw Squirrelpaw and thought about what a good wife she'd make despite her being a young teenager at the time made my fucking toes curl so hard and I demand the Erins send me a handwritten apology dkfhkfng

as an example of authors being aware of the fandom, shout out to the time kate cary chose to kill off ferncloud because a bunch of self-hating teenage girls were being misogynistic towards her. like that’s an actual thing that happened.
ferncloud, known for being a diligent and wonderful nursery queen who had raised countless kittens, both hers and others, was thought of as a lazy baby machine by the fandom (the early warriors fandom especially was known for being insanely misogynistic towards any female characters) and so one of the authors chose to kill her off while writing an evil villain’s monologue explaining why on her facebook or whatever.
that was crazy.

idk it will never not be insane to me that ppl think ivypool is framed as in the right all the time..... youre SUPPOSED to sympathize with dovewing over ivypool's treatment of her... youre SUPPOSED to understand that ivypool is being unreasonable......... like always........... the authors dont want you to hate cats that are in cross clan relationships i swear. they want you to sympathize with them. they want you to see it's unfair. that's why that part of the code got edited. like..... youre supposed to sympathize with leafpool and dovewing.... thus you're supposed to see ivypool as unreasonable. y'all.......

CHIMERA POWER OF THREE AU!!!
Aight this drawing has been sitting on my computer for months and the idea has been on my head for like a year or so and finally I'm rambling about this here, so more info under the cut.
Alright so, I have been working on this thing I call "The chimera AU" basically the three are not only special because of their powers but they are also special because they are chimeras.
I know a lot of people knows "chimeras" as cats with a split face but there's a lot more, please check out this blog, has a lot of very interesting info about chimeras and literally inspired me to create this AU.
A little bit of context
In this AU, Leafpool is in a poly relationship with Crowfeather and Mothwing, everything goes just like canon but this time Leafpool is pregnant by both Crowfeather and Mothwing(cats can have litters from different fathers).
Initially she was going to have a litter of 5 kittens but something goes wrong during her pregnancy and two pairs get "merged" in one cat, so we end up with the classic three.
Jayfeather is one of the "merged" kits and therefore a chimera, he is a calico male with the mix of blue and red genes (also literally son of both Crowfeather and Mothwing because)
Lionblaze is the other chimera kit, he's also a calico male and exhibits a mix of red and lilac genes (he's also son of Crow and Moth)
Finally we have Hollyleaf, who at first glance can pass as a chimera thanks to her split face but she is a fake chimera, she is just a tortie (Also the daughter of just Crowfeather since she's not "merged").
I also wanted to link the chimerism to the fact that Lionblaze and Jayfeather are reincarnations, they are literally two cats in one body.
How the story goes
This is literally barebones but here's what I have so far!
Just like canon, Holly and her brothers think she's part of the prophecy thanks to their chimerism (cats somehow know what a chimera is).
Of course later she ends up discovering that she's not part of the prophecy, I'm planing to tie this to Sol who is going to be another fake chimera just like Hollyleaf. Sol uses his chimerism to gain the trust of the clans and of course the trust of the three, specially Holly, when Sol disappear from the clans, Holly starts to question her place in the prophecy because "If he was fake, maybe I'm also fake".
Dovewing is of course also a chimera (I need to draw her) she also has a split face marking but she is a real chimera, this enrages Hollyleaf because how can Dovewing be a real chimera (and part of the prophecy and she don't?).
Ivypool gets the same treatment as Hollyleaf, she also has a split face marking thanks to her vitiligo but she's not a chimera, this of course makes her super angry and starts compare with her sister.
And I thinks that's all I have for now, maybe later I'll come back with designs for Sol, Dovewing and Ivypool!

wait if ivypool is daughter of lionblaze but secret child of jayfeather does that mean that the Po3 basically repeated leafpool’s whole thing? like leafpool had Po3 and passed them off as squirrelflight’s kits. then jayfeather and poppyfrost had Dove-Ivy kits and passed them off as lionblaze’s children? holy shit
Yep. Each one of the Three have a sobering moment in Cruel Season where, suddenly, they understand their parents more than they ever did before.
Lionblaze is in a gutwrenching state after rescuing his mother and siblings from Ashfur during the fire scene, the blood of his mentor on his claws and everything he'd ever known pulled out from beneath him. When Hollyleaf reveals the secret at the Gathering and the Clans turn on Squirrelflight and Leafpool, he jumps to their defense. Bramblestar disowns him, and he spits back that he only has a mother-- Squirrelflight.
He's the same Lionblaze he was yesterday, but suddenly, he's HalfClan. There's cats in the Clan who are treating him differently. When he confronts them about it, they deny it. He didn't change at all, but it's as if the eyes of his Clanmates did.
For him, it comes quickly. This is what Squilf and Leafpool were trying to protect him from, all along.
Sometimes, secrets are very precious things.
Jayfeather takes longer, probably because he was already treated as different. Brambleclaw had never been as close to him as he was to his siblings. What really starts his path is the fact that Leafpool was stripped of her status-- he's still relatively new to this, but now he's ThunderClan's sole Cleric.
To deal with the stress, he starts to rely more and more on Poppyfrost. It's traitorous. It's codebreaking. It's a relief.
Everyone forgets how lonely Leafpool was at the end of TNP, when she turned to Crowfeather. Her friends had started spending their time with their love interests. She was a lake away from Mothwing. It was a new place and a stressful time, and Crowfeather was an escape from that. Just like what Poppyfrost is now.
The difference is that Jayfeather really, truly does love Poppyfrost. He always has. Probably always will.
When she finds out she's pregnant, it's like a curse. It's the cruelest thing that StarClan could have done to them. He'll NEVER give up the position of a Cleric, and Poppyfrost finds out that he will choose this over a life with her. Reality comes crashing back down.
No one hates irony more than Jayfeather. So he tries to consider it a bitter lesson, instead. This is why Leafpool did what she did.
And Hollyleaf... Hollyleaf has been taught that it's her job to keep her brothers in line. That the Code cannot protect itself; it must be enforced to stop the past from happening again.
She learns of the plan through Cinderheart, by way of her accidentally spilling the beans. Hollyleaf snaps, convinced that the only way to stop her cursed family from breaking the code again is to try and kill them.
Attacking Jayfeather in the tunnels and being fought off by Lionblaze, Sol rescues her from a cave-in and begins the events of Hollyleaf's Century.

Alright I have a feeling this might get some people mad but I think it might need to be said, I think some people in this fandom are getting a little too...I guess "restrictive" (for lack of a better word) on what others ship. I'm all for pointing out a ship is weird or gross but I think people are getting a little silly about it
(Disclaimer: NO, IM NOT A PROSHIPPER, I ACTUALLY THINK THAT STUFF IS PRETTY NASTY)
In any other fandom, doing shit like shipping cousins (of any kind) would be weird, but this is Warrior Cats and literally nobody can keep track of who is who's cousin or aunt or distantly related half-nephew or whatever. It especially gets me when the characters are only related through some family tree bs and most people wouldn't even know they're related in the first place
As for ages, most people apply the logic that if the characters met while one was an adult and the other wasn't, then it's weird. Which I can mostly agree with, but the issue is that it makes a whole lot of ships supposedly weird
(Although I think one thing we can all agree on is that mentor x apprentice ships are odd. Get out of here OneWhite and TinySparrow)
Y'know what here's some examples of ships that would supposedly be weird to ship in the fandom's eyes if we apply all of this:
TawnyFeather (second cousins)
BrackenSorrel (Brackenfur has his warrior name by the time Sorreltail is born)
MothPool (substantially interacted while Leafpool was still young)
IvyFern (like, third cousins?? And Ivypool was a warrior before Fernsong was even born)
BreezeHeather (Second cousins?? Retcons made Ashfoot and Onestar siblings)
BlossomThorn (like a 6 year age gap where they were in the same clan)
WhistleFrost (Whistlepaw got the Whitewing treatment and is around Splashtail's age)
Does anyone see a problem??
My point is that Warriors has such a strange way of doing things and pairing cats together that almost every ship is gonna have something strange going on. I think there are lines to be drawn (for example everyone knows that Cloudtail and Squirrel are cousins so shipping them would be weird), but if not even a character knows who they're related to and ends up marrying their first cousin then how are the fans supposed to care
This also applies to ships that would literally never work out in canon but could have an interesting dynamic, like DarkTiger (yes guys, I know that they're first cousins and Darkstripe was his apprentice-but keep in mind that those are both re-connect as hell and never even mentioned in book. I'm pretty sure most people think of it as a one-sided thing anyways) or HawkMud or fucking OneFire or whatever
I have a lot to say but that's the gist of it. These things have nuance, especially in a series like this where everybody is related and nobody even knows it or characters age kinda weird
.
