Kevin and thea? Questionable at best legal yikes at worst
BUT
Thea literally didn't talk to Kevin for a year and a half when he ghosted her after breaking his hand "skiing" when she's literally an Olympic athlete in her mid 20's and came in guns blazing and Kevin still pulled?? Honestly idk if that makes it worse on her part

Fluent Freshman - Part 28
PREVIOUS
FF does not like being on pain medication.
Everything feels floaty and it is so hard to focus on anything around him.
He’s almost glad that his Gran has given him something to focus on that something being helping her sell her lie to the Foxes that she only knows Polish. Coach Wymack must know but the man is a steel trap and FF finds himself envying his Gran that HER secret keeper is Coach Wymack.
“Smithy! My sweet beautiful idiot!” Nicky cries when Gran gives Wymack the OK for them to come back in. FF finds himself on the receiving end of 2 forehead kisses and a kiss to each of his cheeks from Nicky. “Next time you see a crazy mafia hitman looking to kidnap me you just grab me and RUN.” He orders pointedly, “No more cool guy shit where you take ‘em out in the weird sex alley.” He runs his fingers through FF’s hair and…
Yeah it’s okay that Nicky is the one that knows.
Nicky is so nice.
“What about Aaron?” FF asks.
“If Romero could grab Aaron when he is in whacky inflatable tube mode then I don’t think he’d be taken out by you and Andrew.” Nicky says with a watery smile.
“Hey.” Aaron’s voice is offended.
“Learn to dance at a club already. We’ve been going for years.” Nicky shoots back but never takes his eyes off of FF’s face.
“I dance just fine. I’m better than Kevin.” Aaron argues.
“Hey.” Kevin’s voice is offended.
“You are better than Kevin, but that’s not a real standard of good.” Nicky dismisses, “Regardless, next time grab me and I’ll grab Aaron and the three of us can hide literally anywhere other than the weird sex alley. We could go to the back room with Roland or, if it means you not ending up in the hospital with a stab wound, I would even tolerate hiding down in the straight swingers club in the basement.” Nicky says.
He sees Andrew and Captain Neil tense off to the side.
Oh, that’s right.
Oh fun another lie for him to focus on instead of feeling floaty. Gran always talked about the virtue of telling the truth but the only thing set free would be Nicky in a club that he’s not supposed to know about.
“I wouldn’t ask that of you Nicky.” FF says instead.
Nicky laughs and kisses his cheek one more time. “You’re my favorite family member now. Sorry Aaron, you’ve made me endure the horrors of a heterosexual relationship for too long.” Nicky says stroking  FF’s face as he looks up to where FF assumes Aaron is.
“Hey.” Aaron says in the exact same way he said earlier.
“Andrew-“ Nicky starts but is cut off.
“I don’t care.”
“That’s the spirit.” Nicky says, “Neil-“
“Nicky, I also don’t care.”
“At least you have one another to support each other.”
“Wait, what about me?” Kevin asks.
“You won’t even LEARN the family language Kevin, you were NEVER in the running for my favorite.” Nicky dismisses and doesn’t bother to turn back to the  “So Smithy is my favorite family member now with Aras coming in second.”
Two things strike FF in the wake of family conversation.
First, when in the world did Kevin get here? Why is he here? Is he going to ask the doctors to run tests on FF to figure out stealth mode?
Second, Nicky just used his Gran’s nickname. The nickname that causes FF no small amount of embarrassment. It was a youthful indiscretion! He had thought he understood Lithuanian quite well! He had wanted to impress his Great Gran and his Gran with his knowledge.
“You’re looking pale Smith, do you need more pain medication?” Captain Neil asks.
“No, I’m fine.” He is pretty sure that pain meds can’t numb the psychological pain of his friends hearing about his youthful mistakes and he doesn’t care how bad his stomach is going to hurt he wants to only take the absolute minimum amount of pain meds required to get through this so he can stop floating.
Having friends nearby makes it so much easier.
Conversations go on with him and around him. He’s tired still from everything and when a nurse comes in to try and give him more pain medication he declines. All present in the room except Gran try to convince him to take it but he declines all but the most minor amount to take the edge off.
He finally realizes that Kevin had not been with them and asks why the hell he’s here. He gets an answer that makes him reconsider being on any pain medication at all because it doesn’t really make any sense. Why in the world is Kevin telling him not to trust the nutritionist?
Neil lets him know that the FBI are going to be coming around at some point to talk to him. He says that Agent Browning is a dick but generally fine and that there will be a local agent Iruma Matsumoto stopping by before him, probably today. He looks right at Andrew and says “Yeah, I’ll talk with them about how Romero stabbed me.” Andrew lets out an amused puff of laughter that makes FF feel like he might be doing alright at this friendship thing.
He apologizes to Andrew that he can’t make the pie today and gets a flick to his ear.
He finds out that he slept through all of Saturday and that it is Sunday morning. Finds out that his Gran and Wymack had stayed over at the Columbia house last night and that Wymack has him excused from his classes this week. He also finds out that Nicky has given his grandma a key to the house in Columbia so she could stay there while she’s visiting him.
He apologizes to Nicky for messing up the clothes he’d let him borrow and earns another flick to the ear from Nicky.
Wymack hands him a new phone that Nicky has apparently set up for him. His lip quirks up slightly when he sees that Nicky registered it as ’Smithy’s phone’. Neil shows him some stuff since he has the same phone model but Andrew rolls his eyes.
“You’ve barely figured out how to set anything on your phone Junkie. You still haven’t even set a screen lock.” He says as he pulls Neil back from FF’s space.
“I’ve figured out how to change the notification ping.” Neil argues but lets himself be pulled away and if Andrew keeps his arm around Neil afterwards? No one comments on that.
He translates things for his Gran when it seems important for her to be able to respond to and helps Nicky with some pronunciations.
He falls asleep a couple times and wakes up to his friends and teammates in all sorts of different configurations. Nicky gets him some good sugar-free Jell-O from the nurses while Aaron smacks Kevin upside the head when Kevin complains that it’s not good for him and not part of the diet he’s making to get FF back on the Court ASAP. “He’s gotta be on a clear liquid diet for 24 hours after his surgery.” Aaron hisses.
“Why does it have to be clear? I can put it in a blender but it won’t be clear.” Kevin grumbles.
“He’s not going to be on puree’d food for at least two weeks idiot.” Aaron smacks his head again.
“Stop that.”
He hears from Wymack the other Freshman Dealer won’t be returning and that Sheena is now their only Dealer and she does not do defense well. Kevin’s disapproval for the Jell-O cups only grows stronger in light of this news. His grumbling only stops when Gran looks at him and says “Maybe someone should help you pull that stick out of your ass young man.” In her nicest most grandmotherly voice.
When Kevin turns to FF for a translation Nicky beats him to it, “She said a handsome young man like you shouldn’t ruin your face with worries.” He says without a hint that he’s lying.
Kevin preens at the grandmotherly approval of his looks and FF gets to know that he, Nicky and his grandma all have lying in common.
Eventually it’s lunch time and the natural hunger of college athlete boys trumps anything else. Kevin won’t eat anything at the cafeteria since he doesn’t trust the nutritionist so they agree to head out of the hospital to grab food. He’s more tired than hungry so he tells his Gran to go with them. She pats his face and promises she’ll be back with some clear soup for him per the Doctor’s order and despite Kevin’s grumbling that he could make a clear protein shake.
His Gran kisses his forehead and tells him that she’ll be back soon and that he should rest as much as he can.
***
FF can’t sleep.
He tried.
He really did.
But without the noise of everyone else his mind keeps going back to the last time he was in a hospital. He closes his eyes and he can see Gran’s pale face when she tells him that his dad didn’t make it and the tears when she tells him neither-
He can’t sleep.
So he gets up against medical advice and decides to go on a walk. He’s not been connected to any of the monitoring equipment since he had first woken up, just the IV keeping him hydrated. FF decides he wants to get his dad’s leather back because it would make him feel better. The leather jacket has weight that would keep his feet strictly on the ground and it’s something his Gran had given to him when he went off to college so that he could keep his dad close. He could call a nurse but it feels like he shouldn’t distract them with something as stupid as getting him his dad’s jacket so he doesn’t have a panic attack.
So he lets himself slip into the background and heads towards the nurse station. He thinks that might be where they’re holding his belongings. It’s a good first stop if nothing else.
He can’t help but notice a strange number of men in suits but figures that maybe they’re just there to talk to people who seem to have gotten caught up in some sort of mass casualty incident.
He makes it to the nurse station and when a whole 5 minutes goes by without a single nurse clocking that he exists he considers speaking up until he sees a nurse bagging up some clothes, slapping on a label, and heading away.
It’s nice when things work out for him.
Another suit wearing man comes up and a different nurse sees him there immediately and comes up, “What can I help you with?” She asks.
“I’m looking for someone with the last name Smith, he has a stab wound?” The man asks.
“You’re going to have to be more specific.” The nurse responds with exasperation but FF is already almost out of earshot when he hears it because he’s following the nurse with the bag.
He follows her down the hallway and she thankfully takes an elevator instead of going down the stairs because FF doesn’t know how he would have gotten his IV stand down with him.
FF walks in with her and he watches her slump as the doors slide close. Relaxing like most people do when they think they’re alone. Her shoulders go straight back when the elevator opens again and he follows after her.
He follows her to a door that she unlocks and proceeds to enter and FF sees a room full of the same bags with belongs all tagged with a last name and a room number. “Christ, why are there so many fucking Smiths in here right now?” She grumbles but takes him straight to the S section and he sees his own ‘Smith’ and room number.
He grabs it and heads out the door before the nurse and heads into the elevator.
His phone pings with a text message. He opens it and sees a text from an unknown number.
“Come to the Cafeteria. - IM”
FF stares at his phone for a few minutes before the initials click.
Iruma Matsumoto, the local FBI agent who was coming to talk to him today according to Captain Neil. It’s weird to be texted like this but this is the first time he’s ever had to talk to the FBI. Maybe it’s normal? He doesn’t really want to bother Captain Neil about what getting interrogated by the FBI is like since Captain Neil is out at lunch.
He decides to go to the Cafeteria.
FF follows the directory in the elevator and then the arrows that point him towards the cafeteria. He takes a moment to pull his dad’s jacket out and it does help him feel better. He realizes the McDonald’s toy is still in his pocket and thinks that he really should probably turn that over to Agent Matsumoto.
When he gets to the cafeteria he sees even more of those guys in suits and then he sees a well dressed Japanese man sitting by himself at a table. FF has a moment where he thinks ‘Wow that FBI agent sure does look like a member of the Yakuza.’ Before he squashes it because ‘OMG that’s such a fucking racist thing to think. Thoughts from the abyss are the worst and Agent Matsumoto is probably a perfectly nice guy.’
He takes a seat in front of the man who is surrounded by two other of the men in black he’s seen. Oh that guy was probably looking for him to bring him here so they could have the talk.
None of the men seem to notice him and FF realizes that he’s still in stealth mode. He sets the bag with the rest of his clothes to the side and clears his throat.
Three sets of eyes are on him immediately and FF breathes through the anxiety as the two men at either side of Agent Matsumoto seem to reach for something at their holsters.
“Captain Neil said you wanted to talk to me.” He says.
Captain Matsumoto raises a hand and the two men on either side of him return to an at ease position.
***
Ichirou Moriyama could admit to himself that he had been startled when a young man seemingly appeared out of nowhere in front of him without any warning. He sees a bulge in the man’s pocket that says that he’s armed and he could have done anything before bringing attention to himself. He had men throughout the hospital and no one has spotted Wesninski or any of his cohorts but they had their eyes peeled for the uninvolved civilian who had taken out Jackson on his own and had assisted Wesninski’s guard dog in taking out Romero.
Interesting.
Ichirou clasps his hands together in over the cafeteria table.
“Yes, let’s talk.” He agrees.

As stated before if you’re up here and I spelled it right but you didn’t get a notification there might be  something switched around in your settings that won’t let me tag you properly?
If you didn’t get notified on the last part it’s probably because I used tumblr mobile to post and our most beloved garbage fire site just didn’t like that.

warnings: fluff, christmas fic, talk of homophobia
a/n: i do not condone homophobia in any way, shape or form, this is just an imagine and is not reality
• part 1 • part 2
-----
three months after my coming out to lauren and i'd gathered up the courage to tell the whole team. they'd been more supportive then i ever could've imagined, lauren telling me a simple 'told you so.'
it was december now which meant winter break and returning to families and home countries for the holidays. all the girls were excitedly talking about their plans to see relatives, while i was sat in the corner, quiet.
my family had inadvertently gotten the confirmation they wanted, or not, when i posted a '23 photo dump on instagram. there was a multitude of photos from throughout the year, but one in particular showed me and lauren out at breakfast with some of the team.
we were sat next to each other and had somehow gotten our hands on a rainbow flag. alanna was sitting across from us and thought it was cute to take a photo.
my ma and my sister had messaged me almost immediately after the photos were posted. i expected the harsh words from my ma but my sister had tears welling in my eyes.
not to say the message from my ma didn't hurt, but it was the onslaught from my sister that sent me over the edge. that was roughly three weeks ago and i hadn't spoken to anyone in my family since.
"y/n are you good?" lauren sidled over to where i was sat on the beanbags we had in the city common room. she joined me and sat on the one next to me.
"mhm, i'm okay."
"you going back to australia for christmas?"
i knew someone would ask me about at one point or another, but it didn't make it hurt any less.
"no, i don't have any plans. just staying in the uk, i guess."
lauren knew something must have been up, because of how normally bubbly and sweet i was. but this me was different, depressed even.
"so your not going to see your family?"
"no i haven't spoke to them in almost a month."
"oh, shit. why?"
"they shunned me after they found out i was a lesbian."
that statement shocked lauren, she'd never thought that they'd ever go that far to reject me.
"did you want to come with me? spend christmas with my family instead?"
i was flattered by the offer and everything in me wanted to agree, wanted to go and have a nice christmas with her and her family. but i didn't want to be a bother.
"it's okay, i don't want to impose. thankyou for the offer though."
"nonsense, you've already met my family and they love you. i'm pretty sure my mother likes you more than me."
there wasn't much i could say to that, let alone to refuse the offer. so i gave in and agreed to come with her to see her family for christmas. we had one last training session of the year before we were off the hook until next year.
when the time to fly down to north walsham came, i was a bundle of nerves. lauren took my hand and gave me a soothing smile, assuring me i was not a burden and it would be a pleasure to have me over. i blushed at her comforting words, butterflies erupting in my stomach.
the flight wasn't too long, only a couple of hours.
once we arrived, lauren's sister amy was there to greet us. we hugged and she led us towards her car to drive us back to their house.
"lauren sit in the back, i'm talking to y/n."
amy left lauren to hop into the back seat with a cheeky grin, lauren feigning hurt but hopping in anyway. i chuckled at the sisters' antics and climbed in the front.
we finally got to their house after a laughter-filled drive there. both kevin and julie were outside, waiting to greet us when we pulled in.
"it's so great to see you again, y/n! come in so we can catch up."
kevin was less chatty but happy to have me nonetheless, giving me a hug and pat on the back. we all traipsed inside, me and lauren putting our bags in lauren's room.
we spent some time just settling in and catching up, before lauren pointed out that there was a christmas market on in the town and we should go. i thought that was a great idea, agreeing to go down with lauren. julie and kevin said they'd stay back to cook dinner for everyone and amy also declined as she had something else to do.
it was just me and lauren that were going but i was happy with that. the two of us walked down since it wasn't that far from the house. there was fairy lights strung up all along the streets and the stalls selling various things scattered down the roads. it was so pretty i took a picture to upload to my story.
as we walked down the markets i was looking around in awe, we didn't have much like this on the town where i was from. occasionally mine and lauren's hands brushed up against each other, our pinkies intertwining.
i felt the butterflies in my stomach again and looked over to lauren to see her glancing down at our hands.
since coming out to her she'd been more openly affectionate. it was like some part of her had to be touching me, whether it was a hug or just resting her arm around my waist, she was never that far away.
i wasn't complaining, i couldn't deny that i felt something there for the blonde englishwoman but i was just to nervy to say anything.
however i was considering just asking her, telling her how i felt. the setting of the markets made it feel so romantic, it was too good an opportunity to pass up. so i waited a little, until we were stood under a piece of mistletoe while buying sugar cookies.
"loz, look up."
i spoke to her softly. she looked above us and spotted the piece of greenery. looking back at me, she grinned.
"do you want to? we don't have to."
"no i want to."
and with that she leaned forward to connect our lips in a slow kiss.
it was way better than anything i've ever felt before. her lips were soft and sweet, moving against mine. we pulled apart slightly breathless and rosy-cheeked.
"does this mean you can be my girlfriend?"
"yes lauren, i can be your girlfriend."
i laughed slightly at her way of asking but agreed nonetheless, it was a long time coming.

This post is super TMI 😬
Sooooo for the first time in almost exactly 3 years, we had unprotected sex. I was so terrified of the thought of doing this until the last few months. I remember the first 2 years PP, I was so scared that the thought of having UP sex and risking pregnancy literally revolted me. I can’t believe that at 3 years PP, even hours later, I’m hoping that we made a baby. That I’m excited to be back in this space, knowing everything I know about pregnancy, labor, and PP depression. Like… I really want this. It will be different in so many ways and whether I’m pregnant now or will be in the future, I’m excited.
Before I got pregnant with Sky (like way before) I dreamt of an Aries baby. She ended up being an Aries. For a long time, I’ve had this gut feeling this next baby will be a Sagittarius baby (if I am pregnant, due date would be in Sagittarius season). I know it’s so silly to some, but way back in 2017, I was in India and I got a natal chart reading. The lady told me I’d have 2 children, born in 2021 & 2024. I remember being low key outraged like… WHAT DO YOU MEAN???? I’m not going to wait that long to have a baby… but then we took another big trip, then we moved to NYC, and then it took me a year to get pregnant. (I got pregnant the literal month after I was told by my GYNO that all my fertility tests came back totally fine and truly believe stress kept me from conceiving)
I also remember thinking 2021&2024… kids 3+ years apart????? I would never do that, my kids are going to be less than 2 years apart … and the reader was very no nonsense, like… honey, this is what it is. I’m just reading what I see. I’m really hoping the lady is right 🥹✨(although I know I know, first time trying and getting pregnant is rare)
I’m going to go buy prenatals today and start taking those ASAP. I just have to pray for the best. I’m healthy, eat well, I’m back at my PP weight, and I didn’t overthink it. I just told Kevin I was ready and he obliged happily 😂🙈
I’m very familiar with FAM and track my cycle every month. Yesterday, before we had sex or knew that we would have sex that day, I wiped in the bathroom and was like WHOA — if I wanted to get pregnant today, pretty sure I would have a good chance. I was also having ovarian pain, which is my telltale sign that ovulation is gearing up to happen. After so many years of tracking with temps and OV sticks, I know my body very well. I’m very grateful that my cycle is consistent —every 25-30 days, I get my period. I checked my tracker app late last night and saw that I was on CD13 and due to OV in 1-3 days (can’t know for sure without BBT but once cervical fluid is dry, that’s how one knows OV has happened).
Ahhhh I just can’t believe it. I’m back in “not trying, not avoiding” and I’m excited. I want another little baby to hold and love. I want Sky to have her own baby sibling ✨🙏🏽🤍

YOU ARE A PROBLEM…
Tumblr media
Part 2
Summary: You were a senior in college and after dropping out for year due to stress and you inability to actually do any work you were behind while all your friends were off travelling the world and moving on with their lives you were left in Cleveland Ohio but it wasn’t all bad you did baby sit a grey haired, jet ski loving single father kids for the money or maybe it was because you just wanted to see him but who can blame you I mean look at him…
Mobius m Mobius/Fem reader
Warnings : age gap
~
It had been about two weeks since you saw Mobius in person and no matter how hard you scrubbed your face when taking off makeup or when you washed your skin in the shower, you still felt his large callous hand against your cheek on your forehead the way his eyes stared at you with care and adoration how his rosy lips held a pout and his soft voice showed care.
You had heard from him, he text you the other day asking if you could have the boys early in the morning. He had some kind of important meeting at his store to do with employee safety, so here you were stood outside his house in mid-July, the blazing sun and warm sticky summer air on your exposed skin. You did have a cardigan to match your summer dress, but it was now thrown in your small bag.
You pressed the gold bell, waiting for someone to open the door, hoping it to be Shaun or Kevin, but no you heard the faint call off “Shaun eat your pancakes” as the door opened you saw Mobius stood in all his glory his bare chest and low hung flannel pants a coffee mug in his hand his hair tousled and unkept and his constant sleepy eyes.
“Y/n you're early” he smiled at you, but you were busy staring at his body as your face flushed once more as it always did in his presence. “Am I ?” You quickly responded, “you said 8 am in your text. I can go home if you like and come back” you added “no, no not at all” he moved to the side “come in.”
“It must be my fault, as per usual, the meeting got pushed back to 9 sorry I should have told you” he shut the door, staring at your unknowing self. The light pink sundress you wore with the floral pattern and loose buttons, the way it hugged your body and flown down just passed your knees your hair being slight frizzy and the small sun kissed tan that spread across your cheek and nose as you stared around his home in awe as though you hadn't been there nearly thirty times in the past year he shook his head quickly before walking in-front of your frozen body “it’s so warm. I know they said they’d be a heat wave but this fast and this warm” he gave you a small chuckle as he walked into the kitchen.
And there it was, his bare back so clear in your eyesight his shoulder slumped before stretching showing ever detail of his muscles and shoulder blade hidden beneath those tight perfectly fitted shirts he usually dawns. Your brain was begging you to look away, but you would not and could not listen, you slowly followed him, your eyes staying on his back.
“Shaun, your favourite person is here” he spoke to his son who sat at the table digging at his poorly made pancakes “and don’t say she’s not, you admitted it the other day” Mobius quickly added before his son could say anything “I wasn’t going to deny it” Shaun give you a small smile “what a sweetheart you are” you smiled at the young boy.
“Y/N you’re here !” The younger kid came behind you, almost sending you off your feet, hugging you from behind. “Kevin, be careful with the lady.” He scolded him lightly for being so rough. “No it’s alright I can handle him” you laughed, ruffling the boy’s hair.
“Do you want a drink or anything ?” Mobius asked, leaning against the counter, his legged crossed over one another, “any food ?” He asked more “don’t eat the pancakes” Shaun butted in “those pancakes are great now eat them.” Mobius defended his terrible cooking skills “no, no I’m okay thank you” you laughed “I can’t make chocolate chip” he added, shrugging “Y/n can” Shaun spoke again, making you laugh.
The pair of boys sat at the table eating and colouring in small pictures as you stood near the counter, Mobius stood up and walked over quite close to you, whispering in your ear “be careful with Kevin today. He’s been having nightmares, but he won’t tell me what they’re about, he just seems to be a bit shaken up recently” Mobius pulled away, not very far but just enough to look you in your eyes. “I will” you gave him a small nod, “thank you” he smiled.
You look back at the boys who were staring at the pair, small stupid smiles on their faces. “Don’t you have homework you should be doing ?” Mobius stayed stood close to you, his bare chest mere inches away from your goose bump covered arms. “Don’t you have a meeting you should be getting dressed for ?” you defended the boys and Mobius turned his head to you, a small moment of shock on his face which quickly turned into a sly grin. “You're right” he answered you, placing his cup on the side before scooting past you off upstairs.
You sat down with the two boys, asking how school was going and what they had been up too, listening to their stories. Kevin asked you to help with homework and, of course, you agreed that what you were there for about twenty minutes later, you heard the quick heavy steps of Mobius coming down the stairs. “I’m got to get going. You two be good to her” he warned the boys, pointing his finger at both, “and if you need anything just call me, I’ll be straight home.” He clicked his finger, giving you a small wink. It was a usual response of his nothing more but Mobius kindness.
You saw the man walk out of the room and as you turned your attention back to the two boys, your eyes saw mobius blue store keys on the top. You stood up and grabbed them, heading to the door just as Mobius was about to leave, “Mobius your keys”
Mobius ? Mobius ? He smiled at you calling him by your name, a small fluttering feeling arising in his chest at hearing you call his name. You held out the keys, waiting for him to take them, and he did after a moment of pause. “Thank you” he took them off you, his quick touch lingering on your hand “I’ll see you soon I promise” he gave you a smirk before leaving out the door.
You turned round and there stood Kevin, the small boy staring at you, “do you like my dad ?” His question which caught you off guard, “what ?” you replied so defensively to this little boy as though he accused you of murder. “My dad likes you, he says to us after we tell him how much we like you, he says you're kind and smart and a very loving person. He misses out the part of you being pretty” you were taken aback by the normally destructive boys' word.
“Ohh well your dad is a very sweet man. He’s very kind.” You smiled at Kevin’s words, your stupid cheeks blushing once more at this new information, “do you think my dad is pretty ?” The young boy asked, “well… I think your dad is handsome, if that’s the word you want to use ?” You gave him a small smile, “but I think we should go focus on your homework instead, how about that ?” You grabbed his hand, walking into the kitchen, where Shaun still sat trying to digest Mobius pancakes.
“Do you want me to make you some chocolate chip pancakes ?” At your suggestion, Shaun’s eyes lit up, “yes please.” He replied smiling “of course” you laughed.
The rest of your day was filled with helping the boys with homework and playing outside. You open the draw at one point, seeing Mobius had hidden the matches from Kevin, which made you laugh. You made some more food while the boys still played outside before calling them in to watch a film.
Kevin nodded off at about eight, which was unbelievable early for him, and Shaun stayed awake laying beside you on the sofa, a knitted blanket over the three of you. You heard the small click of the door open, and you slowly stood up from the sofa, resting Kevin’s head down.
You saw Mobius toss his keys into the pot before turning to you, “how was your day ?” You quickly asked, seeing his moody face before noticing you “it was all good just some pain in the arse customers” he answered “let me guess they wanted a quad and not a jet ski” you joked “exactly that” he laughed “how were they ?” He asked, nodding to the front room, “they were as sweet as always, got all their homework done with no fuss are some vegetables done some dancing and had some fresh air. Kevin even fell asleep on the couch, Shaun just watching a film, but I reckon he'll be out cold soon.” You explained the easy and loving day you had with two boys, “I’m sorry about you being here all day. I’m sure this not how you like to spend your free days” he grabbed his wallet from his pocket “no, no not at all. I love spending time with the two of them. They are sweethearts” you smiled and Mobius raised his brow, a small smile on his face, “are you sure you have the right kids ?” He joked and you smiled.
He quickly handed over some money, a lot more than he needed to give you. “Mobius this is way too much” you went to give him it back “nonsense you do way more than needs to be, and you're here in a heart beat any time I call please take it you deserve it” he gave another small smile quickly putting away his wallet, so you couldn’t argue. “I—thank you” you thanked the man for his usual kindness. There was small silence between the two of you, a comfortable and long silence.
“Do you want me to drive you home ?” He asked, going to grab his keys before you even responded. “No worries, I’m getting picked up.” You responded, “who by ?” He seemed curious and eager to know your answer, his shoulders unknowingly tensing at your words “just my mom” you laughed “ohh” a small sigh of relief left his mouth “I’ve got to learn how to drive” you rubbed your head laughing “you’ll be fine don’t worry” he laughed with you.
You then heard the beep of your moms' car, “that’s her. I’ll see you soon Mr M” you pulled your bag over your shoulder “call me Mobius” he cleared his throat “if you want it.” He looked at the floor, “I will Mobius” you smiled at him. Just as you went to leave, he grabbed your hand once in a more loose, gentle lingering grip, “thank you… for all you do.” He smiled, letting go, and you just nodded at him, a stupid heartfelt smile on your face at the small touch he gave you “see you soon Mobius” you bid him a quick goodbye, heading out the door “goodnight Y/N” he said as you left.
He quickly rubbed his face, wondering why he grabbed your hand and why he had to tell you thank you in such a weird and intimate way. You were his boys' babysitter, and yet he felt like you done so much more than you needed to do, as though you were there for them and not just for the money, he shook his head quickly before walking into the living room to his boys.

Days later, Kevin’s POV
Kevin slipped the key card in the slot, waited for the door to beep, then opened it.
It's been a busy two weeks; he almost took tonight off until he saw his client.
The photo alone got his blood rushing from his head to his cock. He soon forgot he was tired and in need of a good night's rest.
Tomorrow, he could sleep tomorrow.
The client paid for the deluxe package, which already told him she wasn’t hurting for cash. On top of that, this hotel was the most expensive one in town, he’d only been here one other time, a year ago, and it wasn't a deluxe suite like this. Whoever she was, she had to be rich. Kevin figured some trophy wife to some tycoon type and was expecting to see a ring on her finger when he arrived.
Kevin stepped into the room, first stopping at the sink to wash and dry his hands, as requested. He turned the corner, heading down the hall to the bedroom. Mood lighting was already set, and a million-dollar view of the city could be seen from the floor to ceiling windows.
Maybe they’d fuck against them, he thought. He always wanted to do that….

Walker 3x09 Thoughts
Finally had a chance to sit down and watch the new episode. I don't have the time for a few review but I'll get my thoughts down here plot-by-plot
August's path to forgiveness:
Not at all surprised that Bonham hasn't forgiven August for his perceived wrongdoing and I know Augie will be blaming himself for a while. Bonham could be a little nicer about it though.
I think August and Colton bonding is probably my favorite part of the episode. They've been put at odds a lot over the past couple of seasons and seeing them work together and offer each other advice was sweet.
Bonham only making steps toward forgiving August after seeing him go out of his way to do something nice, something he wasn't asked to do, is so perfectly in-character. I do hope we get an actual scene between them discussing what happened though. Maybe once August gets the stamp of apporval from Gramps, he'll start to lay off himself.
Liam's Not a Cowboy:
Liam is trying so damn hard but he doesn't know how the ranch business works. Coming right out the gate with an accusation like that isn't good in any business environment, let alone one that really relies on having good business and personal relations with people
I'm excited that Liam got excited about expanding the horse rescue but 1) Colton has a point that he and Stella aren't exactly qualified and 2) He definitely should've run any business plans by Bonham before jumping in headfirst
"Know your place"- Okay Bonham has a point here but also OUCH. Liam went from feeling apologetic to not giving a damn in .5 seconds and that's going to get messy
The Case:
So so so so happy to see Cordell being badass and being treated as a competent ranger
James is being way too harsh on Trey but my boy is trying his best anyway and trying to make sure justice is served
I can appreciate Utopian views of society as much as the next person but, yeah, once you throw money in the mix people stop being friends. I can only imagine the scandal that's going to erupt when people who were just picking up a few bills get thrown in jail like the people that were getting violent
Poor Trey :(
The Luncheon:
Cassie and Kevin were almost as awkward around each other as Cordell and Julia were and that was kind of adorable
Kevin continues to be the most perfectest boyfriend and that really has me wondering if his intentions are genuine or if @theladywyn's predictions will come true
Cordell and Julie swapping trauma recovery stories really has me vibrating with hope that she'll be a love interest because she pretty much ticks all my boxes for him
The Almost Kiss *chef's kiss*
The Wicked Witch of the Jail:
I think Gale could've waited at least a year before she started asking for prison visits
Colton feeling conflicted on how to handle this was so sad to watch but it makes sense. Everyone else in his family has left him to deal with things himself and his Grammy was clearly an important person to him. But he doesn't want to betray Stella and her family. So much angst wrapped up in like five minutes of airtime. I love it.
The Ending:
"Stay Hydrated War Hero" goddamn
Glad the terrorists are back
I like that Cordell is actually going to reach out to someone for help about this. He doesn't want to worry his family any more than they already are and he knows the rangers don't have any leads, so he turns to Julia. I love it. I love them. (It's been one episode but I'm shipping it idec)

I’m so far gone I’ve done a rewatch already in the past couple of days and these are just my little notes on things I loved especially or noticed for the first time:
1x04 is still just so good. This time I especially loved their convo when they were waiting for the kid to come out of the Top Dog, and then when they saw him and his girlfriend Allison was like “ah yes, a real professional relationship” and Patty goes “oh, so you’re funny all the time now?” And her watery, plaintive “Allison?” when they get pulled over. Also this is from ep 2 but I love that the sandwich board sign outside of Patty’s salon just says “it’s not gonna cut itself.”
Soo much stuff in 1x05, starting with like there’s something weirdly sweet about Patty’s conviction throughout that Allison can’t do it, even though that is like the normal thing you would think about most people you know. “You’re just havin’ a time” made me smile! I do miss the east coast sometimes. And after her calling Allison wallpaper: “ugh, are you mad at me now?” “Yes. No…” Why is this so cute to me? But most importantly after Allison asks if Patty wants to do something stupid with her, and Patty blows her off, and after she walks away, I totally forgot that Allison kicks that pot down the stairs. Like babe do you want to examine that reaction at all? Not to mention, I hadn’t thought of it this way before, but Allison asking her out is like almost directly followed by Tammy asking her out in the next scene. Patty and Allison in the quitting scene are of course golden but special shout-out to “watching you work is making me thirsty.” And in the scene with Patty and Nick outside her house, I just noticed you can see the remains of the Kevin Hart banner still hanging off the side of Allison’s house, four years later.
I love the confrontation in the kitchen—first off because Allison is so happy that Patty came to see her, and secondly because Patty did not have to offer the oxy back to her. She could have just given them to Nick and told Allison it was for her own good. But she didn’t. She gave them back and asked Allison to choose her. And Allison did!!!! What the fuck!!!!
The porch convo where she gives the pills back to Patty is so good too. Patty says “thanks, though” so softly. Allison asks “you think I can pull off big and violent?” the same way you might say “you think I’m sexy?” because she’s a little freak.
From 1x06 while they’re in the massage chairs, Patty: “It feels like hands are reaching through the chair to squeeze my neck!” Allison: “I think I like it.” Voted most suggestive foreshadowing 2022.
1x07 Patty drilling Allison on answering police questions just reminded me how I love when Patty snaps at her, but more importantly it lets us know that Allison has told Patty about her scone and a book fantasy. “Can’t you just let it be hard?” Is such a good scene and Patty immediately wants to talk to Allison after. And the tub scene is still so sick and twistedddd how did they even find that version of the song with the perfect longing little croon at the front? Also, Patty then goes to Tammy’s house, but the next morning they’re at Patty’s house looking like they slept there, so why didn’t they stay at Tammy’s? I guess I’m glad they didn’t though, because that morning scene is one of those times I like when Patty actually seems like Neil’s little sister, which has something both a little sweet and a lot sad to it.
1x08 I would have liked to see the scene of Patty rushing over after the gunshot, actually. I loved Patty’s “you make plans and god laughs…and then he kicks you right in the balls.” But I love even more “everything happens for a reason”/“okay, you would hit me if I said something like that.” And “what have we said about swearing” there’s that “we” Patricia!!! “Oh, honey, you are not a broad” is one of my favorite lines, sleeper hit. Allison sitting on the arm of the chair that Patty’s in is a classic. And The Argument is still beat for beat perfect in case anyone was wondering. God, that fierce little face Allison makes after she says “without you…” when she drops her eyes. The soft way Patty says “what?” when she steps forward, not hopefully but in that taut, carefully blank way that comes from desperately trying not to hope. Chef’s kiss!!! Also I love that after storming off Allison immediately starts to angrily clean.
2x01 is suchhh a bonkers and stressful episode so we must take our gifts where we can, like the Lisa Fazzolari story (which is GREAT information, thanks Neil) and “you had your hands on her.” Also, the moment after they watch the ad and Kevin and Pete leave, when Allison starts to giggle but then it kind of changes and she just ends up full-body trembling, great moment. And we finally see The Seas, which (I was checking) is neither the bar Kevin frequents (I think that’s called Kelly’s?) nor the bar that Allison and Patty met at. I like how the drunk driving is like a compact little representation of where Allison is and has been operating from: killing herself in the least efficient and most irresponsible way possible.
2x02 I first must say that Patty faceplanting on her bed and then the little pout she does when she realizes she has to get up are the cutest things on earth. And “guests are blessed and deserve your best” gets me again because like you KNOW Allison had to have said that like fifteen goddamn years ago the first time Neil and Patty came over after she moved in (to…an apartment? Pete’s house? Oh my god, did Kevin pressure her to move in so he could afford moving out of his parents’ house?)
And you know Allison said that with one of her dumb hopeful little smiles, and I like to imagine Patty just like short-circuited in the face of all…that and said like “well if the beer is this warm at your best I’d hate to be here on an off day” or something equally awful but still about warm beer so that Allison also gets to remember something dumb she said for fifteen whole years.
Patty looks so adorable in the scene outside with Neil, I think partly because he’s so much bigger than her. And the bit at the end Sam and Allison’s scene, about his uncle being dead, when Allison goes “GREAT!!! I mean NO I’m so sorry!” I love it. The scene with Allison and Kelly—I mean obviously A Lot is happening here but mostly I think it’s so funny that Kelly is so like distracted by seeing her that it takes her a minute to ask why Allison is in this random backyard in the dark. And then after talking to this girl she definitely used to make out with at parties who reminds her of lots of things she’d rather not think about, and having a lot of complex emotions, and watching her smoke, Allison goes over to Patty and immediately tries her cigarette. That’s like A Lot. And I do like the funeral scene. It’s one moment in a very complex situation, but it’s a good moment! And Patty saying “sorry for your loss” to Bram’s sisters on the way out in some way sort of echoes Allison about Sam’s uncle and that’s very funny to me. And just shit! The last scene is great!! Fuck!!!! Patty’s like there is no “we,” I’m done, and then a minute later she’s all “we’re a lot of work” ok trish!!!
2x03, the prince of episodes! Starting with Patty and her night guard, waaahhh. I also want to talk about how much like background storytelling is dropped in on this show. Like first season with Chuck being addicted to the oxy (not wanting Diane to manage his pills —> “did I tell you about how Chuck’s falling asleep at stoplights?”) and then his whole violent stalking thing after Diane left, in this episode specifically where they keep referring to like a serial killer of women??? I think purely for the Halloween of it. But mostly where it interests me is these references to Patty’s childhood and her mother. God I hope we get some concrete stuff about that. Maybe even a flashback! I do also like that this episode, which is so important to Patty and Allison’s relationship, is taking place sort of in a horror movie. Because they both like them. My heart. I feel like I don’t have any other notes for this episode because like nearly every minute of it is noteworthy. I will say, however, that the bar where Allison meets Patty (and Kevin et al) is called The Periwinkle. AND can I just say, that last flashback scene outside the bar? The music IS straight from 2005, right out of like a teen drama where two characters like each other. Undeniable! And when the scene gets blurry Patty actually turns and watches Allison walk down the street. You ever wonder how that night would’ve turned out if, idk, the Lisa situation had led to 18-year-old Patty actually knowing she was gay? Probably not very different actually but still.
2x04! Listen I love that when Patty says “we’re not gonna…?!” she’s almost laughing, like she doesn’t believe Allison would do it even if she intended to. Also there’s that “we” again trish. Aaaand I’m stopping in the middle of this because it’s midnight so it’s time for 2x05 and I’ve just seen this ep.

----------
Two & A Half Years Later
Caroline thrummed her fingers on the counter as she waited for her drink. Her eyes glanced towards the coffee shop's entrance as she heard the bell on the door jingle.
She let out a curse underneath her breath as she saw Marcel enter, the vampire's eyes instantly went towards her.
"Really?" Marcel asks, using the disappointed tone he knew she just hated. It made her feel like a child, but worse than that, it made her feel like she had let him down.
Caroline shook her head, refusing to feel as if she was in the wrong this time, "Relax." She said casually, "I just wanted an iced coffee. It's like an oven outside."
"Yeah, well you should have told your guards to get you one then." Marcel reminded her.
Caroline rolled her eyes, "I can get my own drinks. Plus, they are supposed to protect me, not act like my servants."
"It's not that and you know it." Marcel said firmly. "You know the schedule is there to keep you safe. I don't mind you going to school-"
"Online." Caroline corrected.
Marcel sighed, "Online school and going in to write your tests, but other than that you need to stay inside. Where it's safe. You know the witches will do anything to get to you and Davina."
"Me and Davina can take them, and you know it. You don't need to keep us locked in the tower anymore Mother Gothel." Caroline joked, but the vampire easily heard the underlying tone of bitterness in her voice.
"I don't want you to feel trapped. I'm just trying to protect you to the best of my abilities." The vampire tried to reason.
"I know." Caroline sighed.
"Just a little bit longer now." Marcel told her gently. "Once the reaping phase passes, and they lose all their power, you and Davina can go wherever you want without fear."
Caroline looks down at her feet, "It's been years."
Marcel nodded, "And we're almost at the finish line. So go write your test, and then head straight home. Ok."
"Fine." Caroline sighed.
She then glanced at him, curious she asked, "What are you doing here anyway?"
"I-I was- you see-" Marcel glanced to the side and Caroline followed his gaze and felt her lips turn downward.
"Really?" the witch asked, disgusted. "You know you can do so much better than her, right?" she asked, glaring at the other blond.
"Playing the protective daughter?" Marcel teased.
Caroline rolls her eyes. "Well when you act like a love sick puppy, someone has to. Just because she looks like her, doesn't mean you need to love her."
"It's not that." Marcel protested.
"Isn't it?" Caroline asks. "You may be able to fool your mind, but you won't be able to fool your heart." She says, poking his chest.
"Is this your new strategy?" Marcel asks with a raised eyebrow.
The blond shrugs, "Say something old and screw with your head until you finally realize she's a fraud. Yeah." She answers, as if it's obvious. "Therapists are supposed to help you, not judge you."
"Princess Grace of Monaco." The barista called, unsure.
"Oh, that's me." Caroline said, getting up to grab her drink. When the women behind the counter continued to stare at her, the witch offered a bright smile, "My parents were huge fans."
The barista let out a unsure chuckle and handed her the drink.
"Now head to class." Marcel ordered.
"Was already planning on it." Caroline answered, walking towards the exit. "I can not miss this test."
Before she could open the door, someone else pulled it open from the outside. Caroline paused, unable to stop herself from checking the guy out.
He was tall and dressed in dark genes and a light grey henley. He had curly dirty blond hair with piercing blue eyes.
His eyes traveled down her body, but stopped once it reached the cup in her hands, "Princess Grace?" He asked, chukling.
Caroline glared at him, "So what?"
"Well, see you around your majesty." The man smiled, holding the door open for her.
Caroline huffed and walked out with an extra sway in her hips, knowingly, still feeling his stare on her back until she rounded the corner.
----------
Later that night Caroline got dressed in a loose, flowy black, sleeveless shirt, with spaghetti straps. She paired it with simple blue jeans, wanting to fit into the background tonight.
"You're sneaking out again?" Davina asked from her bed, where she was working on a sketch.
"Well if Marcel didn't want me leaving, then he should have guards who aren't so easily fooled by an illusion spell." Caroline said, defending herself.
Davina put the pencil down and turned her body to face the older witch, who was currently in the process of arranging pillows under her blanket and then covering them with an illusion spell. "What if someone attacks you?"
Caroline rolled her eyes, "Please, if someone attacks me, and can actually take me down, then those chumps wouldn't be any good."
"The witches-"
"Have no power, at least compared to us. And soon, they won't have any power at all." Caroline said confidently.
"Oh, and what about the Originals? Marcel's worried." Davina reminded her.
"Please, weren't you the one who said we could take them." Caroline reminded her. "What happened to all that confidence?" She teased.
"It turned into concern. I'm worried about you." Davina answered.
Caroline's expression softened and she walked over to her, "I know. But I'll be fine." She said, trying to reassure the other witch. "We only live once. We aren't vampires. We won't be the same age forever. So we gotta live in the moment."
Davina sighed, Caroline was always the one who hated having to stay in the attic more than anything. "Stay safe."
"You could come with me." Caroline told her, walking over to the window, her black heels in hand.
"What? And who's going to cover your ass if Marcel comes to check in on us?" Davina teased playfully. "Plus, school dances aren't really my thing, I doubt full blown club ones would be any better."
Caroline nodded, "I'll be back by 2:30." She promised.
"You better be. If you aren't back by 2:31, I'm calling Marcel, and we're going to start a witch hunt for you." Davina threatened, smiling as Caroline climbed out the window.
----------
Caroline stood in line, her heels tapping impatiently on the ground.
The bouncer looked at her, finding it hard to believe she was 21. "Name and age?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Well I'm not sure about the second, but I'm pretty sure it was Princess Grace, wasn't it?" An accented voice answered for her.
Caroline turned her head to see the man from this morning smirking at her.
Her eyes narrowed, "And so what if I am?"
"Well I think it's a shame. She clearly wasn't even half as beautiful as you." The man answered without missing a beat.
Carolines face flushed, "You can't just go around saying things like that! I don't even know your name!"
"Nik." He answered. "You can call me Nik."
"Still-"
"What if I buy you a drink? Hm? Would that help?" Without waiting for a response, he turned to the bouncer, his pupils dilating, "You're going to let me, and the princess in."
The man repeated the words back without emotions, and Caroline's spine straightened up. "You're a vampire."
Nik extended his hand towards her, "Come on love. Give me a chance. I dare you."
Caroline looked at his outstretched hand. She knew it wasn't possible, seeing that she's a witch, but she still found herself compelled to give him a chance.
"Fine." She answered, placing her hand in his and letting him lead her inside.
Caroline found a booth in a corner, and she took the seat facing the entrance, making sure she could see the doorway clearly.
Nik joined her, two shots in hand.
The witch raised an eyebrow, "Trying to get me drunk already?"
"You know my name, and yet I'm still calling you princess. I need to level the playing field somehow." He smirked.
Caroline filt the corner of her lips turning upwards as she took the drink, "That would be a lot fair if I didn't know how high your alcohol metabolism actually was. I'd say the deck is more than in your favor."
Nik gave her a boyish smile, but there was nothing innocent about the monster lurking in his eyes, that had long since picked up on the magic dancing along her skin.
He hadn't confirmed it before, but now he knew for sure that she definitely had magic flowing through her blood and set into her bones.
She's a witch.
He knew for sure now that wearing the necklace he had designed to mask his wolf was a wise decision. It would be a waste to scare her off before he even got to know her.
Caroline took the shot, not once breaking eye contact, waiting for him to down his own. The original didn't disappoint, downing the shot in one go, he leaned on the table with his elbows, "Now, any chance I can get your name?" He asked, eyes daring her.
"You may earn it before the night's up," The witch answered, pushing back, "If you play your cards right."
Nik smirked, he knew she'd be interesting, and she hadn't let him down.
Caroline felt her vision grow fussy, and felt the familiar tug whenever someone used magic as an image of Jane-Anne Deveraux appeared in her mind.
She shook the dizziness away and could feel Nik's stare on her. She felt his blue eyes stare into her own, as a frown appeared on his face.
Caroline gave him a shaky smile, "Witchy migraine."
He raised an eyebrow, "I thought witches weren't allowed to use magic here?"
"They aren't." Caroline agreed. "But the magic builds up inside of us, and causes us headaches."
It technically wasn't a lie.
As a result of the harvest, she and Davina now had Monique, Cassie, and Abiligals magic trapped inside of them.
Nik nodded, knowing what she was saying was true. He knew if Kol was here, he'd probably have a fit in seeing what Marcel was doing to the New Orleans witches. Whether Marcel knew it or not, he was slowly killing them.
"Can you get me a Sex in the Driveway?" Caroline asked.
The man smirked as his blue eyes sparked, "Why, is that a way of suggesting something."
The witch smirked, "And here I thought you were classier than that." She propped herself on her elbows and leaned forward, "Trust me, when I want something. I'm very clear about it." She said, her tone taking on a suggestive hint.
Seeing his breath caught in his lungs, she let out a laugh and leaned back into her chair. "The alcohol will help my headache." She answered, but what she really wanted was for him to get caught at the bar so she could slip out without him noticing.
She doubted he'd be the type to let her go without asking any questions, considering how much fun they've been having.
And the last thing she wanted was to snap his neck and end the night on a bad note.
Nik sighed, "That was mean love. Are you sure you want a Sex in the Driveway?"
Caroline raised an eyebrow, "And here I thought you'd be all for getting me drunk? My tongue is a lot looser with alcohol in my bloodstream you know."
Nik's eyes darkened, "Oh believe me love. I know much better ways to get answers. I wonder about all the things I can discover when your muscles are loose, and you're screaming my name. I think I'm a lot more likely to get yours then."
Now it was Caroline's turn to be left breathless, as the man pinned her with his look. His eyes making promises that the witch was more than tempted to accept.
"Will you be here when I come back?" The vampire asked.
Caroline let out a sigh as she quickly regained her confidence, "Why don't you get up and see? The only way you'll know for sure is when you come back. You'll either see me here, or not." Before Nik left the table, she added, "and no peeking."
Nik smirked at her, "You play a dangerous game."
"But isn't that what makes it so much fun?" Caroline teased, her grin turning sharper.
The witch watched him walk away, almost not wanting to get up. Her will was once again strengthened when she unlocked her phone and saw a message from Davina.
Davina: You saw her?
Caroline: Janne-Anne?
Caroline: Yeah
Caroline: Don't call Marcel yet
Davina: Why?
Caroline: I wanna be there when he kills her. I wanna be there to see her pay. Give me a 20 min start, I'll call him when I'm half way home so he doesn't know I was out tonight
Davina: Allright
Davina: Hurry up
Davina: If he doesn't catch her in the act, he'll know we waited and that you left
----------
Caroline was halfway home when she found a quiet street and decided to call Marcel. The man picked up on the first ring.
"Janne-Anne." The witch said, having to stop walking so the vampire couldn't pick up on her footsteps.
"She used magic?" Marcel asked, surprised.
Caroline nodded, "She did. It was an identification spell, but a spell nonetheless."
"I'll handle it." The man told her. "Stay home-"
"No!" Caroline instantly protested. "That woman sentenced me and my friends to slaughter. I have the right to be there."
She heard him sigh on the other end, "Fine. Be ready, I'll come pick you up."
----------
Meanwhile Klaus returned to the table, expecting to see the blond witch still sitting there, only to find an empty seat.
His eyes flashed amber as his wolf rose to the surface. Her scent of honey, cituris, and ginger was already embedded into his memory; and now, the wolf wanted to track her down. The wolf saw it as a challenge and wanted to chase after her.
And the man in Klaus couldn't help but agree.
But before he could carry the thought out, he got a message from Marcel, telling him to meet him.
He sighed and threw a longing look at the empty seat. Taking one last deep breath of her scent, he willed himself to walk out.
He didn't even know her name, but that didn't make him want her any less.
----------
Caroline climbed up the fire escape and knocked on the window. Davina looked up and rushed to it, unlocking it.
"Thanks." The blond said, as she climbed in and began walking to her closet, she slipped off her black heels and pulled out a pair of socks from her dresser instead.
"So you're really going?" Davina asks.
"Of course I am. Aren't you?" Caroline asks, pulling on a cardigan and slipping into her black converse shoes. She whirled around to face her cousin, "That woman led her own daughter to the slaughter. She watched as we begged and begged for help. Doing nothing. I wanna watch her pay. Isn't that the only reason we stayed in New Orleans?"
Davina nodded, as she remembered the cold look that Janne-Anne had in her eyes despite watching her daughter get her throat slit.
"I'm going to." She nodded, pulling a jacket out of her own closet.
Caroline smiled, as they heard a knock on the door.
The blond's eyes widened as she remembered that she still would smell like the party, smoke, and alcohol. Moreover, she'd have Nik's scent on her. As light as it may be, a vampire as old as Marcel would be able to pick up on it. She picked up a perfume from the vanity and sprayed herself with it, from head to toe.
Davina gave her a moment, before walking to the door to open it.
Marcel raised an eyebrow at Davina, "You're coming to?"
The brunette nodded, "Caroline's right. I need to see this with my own two eyes. I wanna watch like she watched and did nothing well five girls - one of them being her own daughter, were led to their slaughter."
Marcel sighed, but he could easily understand where both girls were coming from. "Allright. Remember, to put a glamor on, and blend into the crowd. I don't want to risk it, especially when you're going to be that close to her. The last thing we need is her spotting you."
"It'll be fine." Caroline reassured him. "We know what we're doing."
Marcel nodded them, patting them on the shouldier, he led them out. "Whatever happens, stay closer, and look out for each other. Ok?"
----------
"Ekáti, plýne mas méchri na mi fainómaste." Caroline whispered underneath her breath, letting her magic cover both her and Davina.
The spell was a simple glamor, but with it in place, the people around them would only see two black haired sisters, with plain brown eyes. Letting them easily blend into the ground and be forgotten.
"Come on." Caroline nodded at Davina, grabbing her hand and pulling her through the crowd until they got a perfect view of the show that was about to take place.
One of Marcel's vampires dragged the witch in front of Marcel.
Not even three years ago, Caroline looked up to the witch, and if something like this had happened to them, she could see herself doing everything in her power to help the women.
But now, after everything she had done, the women, and her coven had lost any and all loyalty Caroline may have held for them.
"Jane-Anne Deveraux." Marcel announced, before turning to the ground, "Give it up for Jane-Anne. Come on." He said, as if he was an announcer on a late night T.V. show.
"Jane-Anne Deveraux, you have been accused of the practice of witchcraft beyond the bounds of the rules set forth and enforced by me." He said, finally turning to the witch, a dark look beginning to appear in his eyes, "How do you plead?"
But as quickly as it had come, the look vanished. "Oh. Was that convincing? I studied law back in the fifties. It's all I know. Seriously, J, tick tock. You know the drill. How do you plead?" He repeated, forcing Janne-Anne to answer.
"I didn't do anything." The witch answers stubbornly.
But Marcel instantly called her out on her b.s, "That's a lie. You know it, I know it, and you hate that I know it. It drives you witches crazy that I'm aware of your every move. That you can't do magic in this town without getting caught. So, why don't we just cut to the chase, huh?" He asked. "You tell me what magic you're brewing. Tell me. I'll grant you leniency. Hey, I am, after all, a merciful man."
Davina clenched Caroline's hand, and the older witches' eyes narrowed. No way. They had been waiting so long for this moment.
Waiting for her to slip up.
Waiting to see one of the women who was directly responsible for their life being destroyed, punished.
Caroline squeezed Davina's hand back. The reminder that she was there was the only reason the blond didn't shout out in protest.
"Rot in hell, monster." Janne-Anne growled.
"I'll tell you what. I'll give you one more chance." He said, turning around, but before the witches eyes could soften, he turned around and slashed her neck, "Or not." He said, watching the woman collapse to the ground, her head barely attached to her shoulders.
Caroline flinched as a sudden image of Monique, and how the girl had fallen to the ground in a similar matter flashed before her eyes.
"Poetic justice." Caroline chukled, "I doubt she would want this. After all, Killer or not, the woman was her mother."
Davina turned to her, "It doesn't matter. We wanted this."
Caroline gave her cousin a small smile, it's true at first she desperately held onto the belief that they were doing this for their fallen friends.
But were they really?
No.
No they weren't.
This was for themselves.
It's true it's sad what happened to those girls, but they had died and left this plane behind.
But they had died, well Davina and Caroline struggled to survive.
Dying wasn't easy.
But the guilt, anger, and pain that came with living?
Death was easier in comparison.
Caroline turned her attention back to Marcel, she could see him talking to someone, but couldn't make the man out.
She shook her head, dismissing it as vampire business, something she liked to stay out of. That last thing she needed was another thing tying her to this city, after the magic all faded.
"You coming?" Davina asked, wanting to go back home.
"No. You go ahead. I wanna make sure we retrieve Janne-Anne's body." Caroline told her.
"Why?" The brunette asked.
"So the witches can't bury it ofcourse." Caroline answered, as Davina's eyes widened in understanding.
----------
Caroline entered the party, but left it behind as soon as she stepped in and made a B-line for the bathroom instead, unable to stomach the way vampires were blatantly feeding on humans.
Her breath began to come out quicker as she felt her chest begin to cave into itself. Her hands quickly fumbled against the faucet handles as she struggled to turn it on. The second cold water began rushing out, she splashed it against her face.
The cold water ran down her face, and snapped her out of the panic attack that was beginning to hit her.
Caroline sighed as she leaned against the cold material of the sink, letting her forehead rest against it, she began to wonder where it had all gone wrong.
She wanted to make the witches pay, but why did it feel like she was the one paying the price?
She may be alive, but she couldn't truly live her life, with the threat of the witches and their harvest reaping constantly hanging over her head.
Would it have been better if she had died that night?
Is it already too late?
The blond shook her head, trying to shake all those thoughts away.
No! She couldn't!
She couldn't leave Davina alone with this burden.
She needs to hold out.
Just a little bit longer...
----------
Loud music was booming through the area, as the party moved to cover the whole courtyard. Marcel and his vampires were dancing as they were high on both blood and drinks.
Klaus entered the courtyard, as Elijah observed from a balcony
"Hey, man, where'd you run off to?" Marcel asked, greeting his sire. He didn't notice it before, but now that he was closer to the man he could pick up scents that still lingered on him. One stood out to him, almost like it was citrus, and a hint of sweet note, but he couldn't pick it out exactly. The man had clearly been to a bar, and the strong scents of alcohol were covering the scent. Marcel just couldn't put his finger on what exactly he was smelling.
"You mean your minions aren't still documenting my every move?" Klaus asked, his tone was light, but Marcel, having been raised by him, could pick up the undertones of anger.
"Someone put you in a mood." Marcel commented, not realizing that a part of that mood resulted from Klaus being seperated from Marcel's ward - or more specifically the said ward running out on the thousand year old vampire. "What can I do?"
"What you can do is you can tell me what this thing is you have with the witches." Klaus said, stepping closer.
"We're back to that." Marcel sighed, hoping they were past that. But he knew better, Klaus would never let something like that go.
"Yeah, we're back to that." Klaus glared at him.
"You know I owe you everything I got," Marcel admitted honestly, "but I'm afraid I have to draw the line on this one. This is my business. I control the witches in my town. Let's just leave it at that."
"Your town?" Klaus asked, stepping away, almost as if he had been burned.
"Damn straight." Marcel nodded confidently.
"That's funny," Klaus chukled, "because when I left 100 years ago, you were just a pathetic little scrapper still trembling from the lashes of the whips of those who would keep you down, and now look at you – master of your domain, prince of the city." He said, lashing out bitterly.
The music stopped, as the people in the ground began to watch them, but Klaus paid them no mind. "I'd like to know how."
"Why?" Marcel asked, tilting his head as he saw a vampire and Thierry come up around Klaus. "Jealous?" The man questioned. But he then saw something dark appear in Klaus expresion and had to stop himself from flinching. He knew now was not the time to fight, and needed to cool the situation down before tensions rose even higher.
He wasn't ready to take on the originals.
Not yet.
"Hey, man, I get it." Marcel said, trying to cool the situation down, but still not willing to give up his footing. "Three hundred years ago, you helped build a backwater penal colony into something. You started it, but then you left." The man reminded his sire. "Actually, you ran from it. I saw it through. Look around. Vampires rule this city now. we don't have to live in the shadows like locals know their place they look the other way. I got rid of the werewolves. I even found a way to shut down the witches. The blood never stops flowing and the party never ends. You wanna pass on through? You wanna stay a while? Great. What's mine is yours, but it is mine." Marcel said fiercely. "My home, my family, my rules."
"And if someone breaks those rules?" Klaus asked, his voice adopting a sharp edge.
"They die. Mercy is for the weak." Marcel answered without backing down, and Klaus had to bury down the feeling of pride that rose in his chest. He was the one who-
"You taught me that, too. And I'm not the prince of the Quarter, friend. I'm the king! Show me some respect." Marcel growled out. There was only so much he could give, before his power and reputation collapsed. Something he couldn't let his people say, or everything he spent the last two centuries building would turn to ruin.
Klaus paused for a moment, before flashing towards one of the vampires that had tried to inch towards him, and bite him at the neck, his fangs mersously tearing through the younger vampire's neck. The decades the vampire had on him were nothing compared to Klaus' centuries, but those years were the only thing that prevented his bone from being crushed under the hybrid's ruthless attack. Any younger, and Klaus fangs would have torn through the bone like paper, ripping the man's head straight off his shoulders.
Klaus discards the man, dropping him like a rag doll, he turns to Marcel. Marcel flinches as he sees the blood dropping down Klaus' lips, and feels as if he's watching his kingdom bleed as the ground gives out from underneath him. He knows if he doesn't act quick, he'll be giving up everything.
"Your friend will be dead by the weekend," Klaus informs him. "which means I've broken one of your rules. And yet I cannot be killed." Klaus says, taunting the man he once called son. "I am immortal. Who has the power now, friend?"
Marcel could do nothing but stay silent, as he realized he was no longer looking at the man who raised him, but the Original who had seen the rise and fall of several empires.
The monsters that all creatures of the night feared.
Klaus Mikaelson.
----------
Caroline looked at the pulsing wound on the man's neck, and the black spider web like veins that spread from it.
She let her fingers graze over the wounds, only for the man to let out a scream.
She winced as Marcel spoke from behind her, "Can you help him."
"If I push magic against the venom flowing through his blood, I can push it back towards the entrance. It's not a cure. I won't be able to remove it completely, it's already mixed with his blood. Nomatter how much of the venom I remove, it's already mixed with his blood. All I can do is slow it down."
"It's something." Marcel argued.
Caroline shook her head, "All that will do it prolong his suffering."
Marcel cursed underneath his breath, and Caroline threw one last look at the vampire, before standing to face the vampire. "Did you get Janne-Anne's body?" She asked.
"Yes." Marcel answered.
"Good." Caroline sighed, relieved, before letting out a yawn as the night's events caught up to her.
She wanted to go back and see if Nik would still be at the party, wanting to continue their conversation, but knew with Marcel here, the chances of that happening were next to none.
And she was right, because when the vampire saw her tired expression, he gently urged her to the door, "Come on. You've had an eventful night. You need to sleep. I'll take care of this."
Caroline nodded, "Sorry I couldn't help." She said, as Marcel got a call.
He answered his phone and listened to someone on the other end speak for a moment before getting angry, his frustrations of the night catching up to him.
"You find him, and then you call me." Marcel growled.
"Who was that?" Caroline asked.
"The vampires I had followed Klaus." He answered, sighing.
Caroline raised an eyebrow, "Where was seen last?"
"He went back to a party, the one he was at before." Marcel huffed, hating how Klaus put him in this position and was just going back about his night. "The one near your campus. Probably left a woman hanging and is going back to get laid."
Caroline let out a quiet sigh of relief. Maybe not trying to go back is for the best. She came close to meeting Klaus Mikaelson in person twice now. She managed to avoid him at the Club, and barely missed him at the courtyard party.
Marcel saw how Caroline looked worried and shook his head, "Don't worry. I know how to deal with Klaus." He said, trying to reassure her.
Elijah suddenly appeared into the room, surprising her. The original barley even glanced at the plain black haired, brown eyed girl that he saw. The witches glamor couldn't disease her heartbeat from vampire ears, especially ones as old as Elijah, but the man just assumed she was there as a meal for the injured vampire, and dismissed her, turning his attention to Marcel.
"Is that so? Please elaborate." He asked Marcel.
Marcel instantly recognised the man from his childhood. The man truly hadn't changed a bit, more like he couldn't. But still dressed in the finest clothes, he easily recognised him, "Elijah Mikaelson." He greeted, his body tensing.
This caused the entourage of vampire's around them to rise as well, ready to protect their master at the smallest signal. But Marcel dismissed them, "No. I got it. It's all good." The last thing he needed was a fight breaking out near Caroline, against an original no less.
Elijah pulled out the chair across from Marcel and took a seat, "It's time we had a little chat."
Caroline had to force her magic down, as it began to rise up in defense.
"Well if you're gonna talk, talk." Marcel said impatiently. "I got things to do."
"Oh my, you have grown quite confident over the last century, haven't you?" Elijah asked, reminding the man that even now, he was still only the scared little boy his brother had taken in, to him.
"Me?" Marcel asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'd say it's you and your brother who got cocky, coming to my town like you own the place."
"Well, we did own the place once. We were all quite happy here as I recall. But we could never control those pesky witches of the French Quarter. How do you do it?" Elijah asked, knowing he wouldn't get an answer.
"Your brother asked me the same question. I gave him the same answer: It's my business." He repeated, really getting sick of having to repeat the same thing to the brothers over and over again. "Everything in the Quarter is my business. Klaus comes into town all nice and friendly, then he starts looking down his nose at what I've down like it's some cheap knock-off of one of his dumb paintings, then he gets pissed of like a little bitch and bites one of my guys."
"Well, I do apologize for Klaus' poor behavior. I assume you know that that bite will kill your friend within a matter of days. Of course, Niklaus' blood would cure him." Elijah revealed the life saving information casually.
Caroline's eyes widened. It did make sense.
A snake can't kill itself with its own venom.
Klaus was the Original Hybrid. The first vampire that was a werewolf. No, he was a werewolf first, who became a vampire. So it's only natural his vampire side would blend with his werewolf, nuteriasing the poison that was toxic even to his siblings.
"What?" Marel asked, the mask of casualiness he was wearing, falling right off his face.
"Yes, apparently the blood of the hybrid will cure a werewolf bite. Quite a handy little thing when one needs leverage in negotiation." Elijah smirked, knowing he had Marcel's interest as well as the upper hand.
"What kind of negotiations are we talking about?" Marcel asked, knowing the price would be anything but cheap.
"Return the body of the witch Jane-Anne. Allow her people to put her to rest." Elijah revealed.
Marcel swallowed the curse that was about to escape his lips, down. He could hear Caroline's heart pick up speed. Elijah was still ignoring her, thankfully.
"What do you care about the witches?" Marcel asked, looking at Elijah so his gaze wouldn't wander to check on Caroline. The last thing he needed tonight was for Elijah to take an interest in her.
"Well, that's my business, now, isn't it?" Elijah taunted, repeating the words that Marcel had told him just a few moments ago.
Marcel glanced at Caroline from the corner of his eye. The glamor spell prevented him from seeing her, but he could clearly imagine her wide eyed expression underneath. How those brown eyes would be a dark shade of angry blue. How she would have shook her head and screamed that he was being crazy at him, if Elijah wasn't here.
Which only made what he was about to do, harder.
"Fine." He relented. "But I want the cure now. If my man dies, I swear I will kill Sophie as well, and then you can forget about ever getting what you want out of the Deveraux's."
Elijah took a threatening step towards Marcel at the information, but Marcel was done. He had enough of the Originals for one night. "LEAVE!" He roared. "Thierry will take you to the body." He said, glaring at the man in the suit.
Elijah returned the look head on, before sighing, and nodding to the vampire in the hat to show him where the witch was kept.
The second Elijah left, Caroline turned her furious look at Marcel. "How could you!" The witch shouted.
"I'm sorry Care." Marcel shook his head, "I had to."
"Had to! Do you have any idea what will happen now?" Caroline demanded.
"She'll be buried." Marcel said softly.
Caroline nodded sharpy, "And she'll find peace. She doesn't deserve peace! Not after what she's done!" She shouted, tears filling her eyes.
It wasn't fair!
Why would Janne-Anne get to be in peace?
After she killed her own daughter!
Destroyed Caroline and Davina's life!
"She doesn't deserve peace." Caroline said, her voice coming out hoarse as a result of the lump that was growing in her throat.
Marcel flinched as he saw tears well up in the young woman's eyes. "It's no fair Marcel. It's not fair."
"I know." Marcel said, trying to sooth her. "But it will all be over soon."
"When?" Caroline demanded. "Either we die, or we lose our magic and everything we've ever known." The blond confessed. As much as she was looking forward to putting this nightmare behind her. She knew that it wouldn't come without a price. The witches would lose all their magic, but Caroline and Davina would too. They would be giving up everything they had ever known.
"I-"
But Caroline shook her head, she didn't want to hear his excuses, or worse, see his pity. She turned around and ran out the door.
----------
Davina was practicing lighting a candle on fire, well Caroline finished up an essay, when Marcel walked into the attic.
The blond glanced at him, her anger at him for giving away Janne-Anne's body still not completely gone.
"I assume it's all quite out there?" Marcel asked.
'The witches know better than to use magic." Davina answered. "They know we can sense it when they do.
Caroline sighed, "Still doesn't stop them from testing out powers here and there. Can't they just learn." She sighed. "Better to be alive, then cast a silly spell. It's not like we cut off their connection to magic. They can still feel it."
"Well they are going to lose their powers. And it'll all be on them." Davina smirked, and Caroline couldn't help but smile back.
"What about the old ones?" Davina asks, turning to Marcel. "They're dangerous, and I don't want them to hurt you."
"The originals?" Marcel asked.
Caroline nodded, going to stand beside her cousin.
"Girls, as powerful as you both are, they don't stand a chance." He told them confidently.
"Really?" Caroline asked, not sounding too sure. "Do we really need to fight them head on. Can't you just dagger them, like you said they used to do to each other?" She asked, remembering the stories Marcel used to tell them.
"Won't work on Klaus." Marcel shakes his head.
Caroline nods, "I guess it's time to make a to-do list." She says, causing the other two to let out a groan. "It may be handy to actually get close to an original and see what makes them tick."
Marcel nods, "I think I may know just the thing. Give me half a day."
----------
Just as Marcel promised, when he came to visit the girls later that night, he brought a coffin with him.
"No way! You actually managed to get one of them!" Caroline gasped, jumping off the bed and running over to open the coffin.
Marcel smirked, "Did you ever doubt me."
"Kind of." Caroline teased.
Davina opened it and the girls looked inside intently, taking in the graying body of the man in the suit.
"This must be Elijah." Caroline notes.
Marcel nodded, "He is." When he saw Davina's hand inch towards the dagger he quickly stopped her. "No, don't remove the dagger."
Caroline nodded, turning to the brunette she said, "We should start putting some wards up."
"Don't you already have some?" Marcel asks. "Ones you review every week."
Davina nodded, "Yeah, well these won't be to keep things out, but to keep them in." She smiled.
Caroline touched the original, and felt a spark as she felt the magic running through him. And for the first time, she truly began to question if they could pull this off.
She shook her head, turning to Marcel and Davina, she knew that failure wasn't an option.
They needed to protect their home.
----------
An amazing Guest commentator on FanficNet brought up the idea of killing Hayley off, an excellent suggestion I definitely will be considering. So, should Hayley die in childbirth?
Like I of course didn't plan to have her around forever, but just killing her off in childbirth. It is a great idea, and I can see the benefits of both. Keep her around to bash her some more, or kill her off and be done with her entitled attitude and have the baby grow up to call Caroline 'Mama'. Or better yet, keep Hayley around - but she can't get her head out of her ass fast enough - and Caroline still becomes 'Mama'. (Personally, I'm leaning towards option 3). Because my original plan was for Hayley to die in season 5 for this fic, (but I basically ignore her for most of it, because Klaroline is the main priority here.)
As for Cami, let's be honest, would you use a cheap knock off purse (Cami), when you can have the real thing (Caroline). Yeah, I didn't think so. So why would I make Klaus? (I am sorry if that came out a little too sassy. I saw something similar in a movie once, and honestly thought it could be a funny way to reveal that yep - there will DEFINITELY be Cami bashing.)
And I gotta admit, I wasn't a huge fan of how Elijah went around using Klaus' blood for leverage (when I think they were still not getting along at this point because he was trying to shove a baby down Klaus throat) so he could free Hayley. Like it's not your blood - you can't go around offering it like cash. It's like spending money that isn't yours - without asking the person who actually earned the money. In general, I liked Elijah a lot more in TVD, where he was actually cunning, and wasn't just high on baby fever.
Anyways,
KLAROLINE FOR LIFE BECAUSE I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!

I Wanna Go Home For Christmas
Kevin hates everything about winter. It's cold, it's wet, it's gray, and it's lonely. The silence that happens on winter nights chills him more than the temperature ever could. Kevin can't remember the last time he enjoyed any winter activity and he hasn't seen his family for the holidays in the past 5 years. He's more than fine with that. Except his best friend Ben Tennyson refuses to leave him alone for Christmas.

Part 2 X
A no powers AU set where Kevin meets Ben and Gwen later in life.
Dec. 25th
If Kevin knew staying with Ben for Christmas meant Ben would literally be shoving him awake at seven in the morning… he at least would have decided to sleep on the couch instead.
Kevin can feel Ben rocking him aggressively and whisper shouting in his ear. Kevin groans and tries to shove Ben off of him but he keeps persisting like a dog.
“Tennyson…” he growls out. “Stop moving and let me sleep for like ten more minutes.” He grumbles.
Ben stops abruptly and Kevin hears him shuffle away. He thinks he’s won and starts to doze off again. First mistake was underestimating a Tennyson. Kevin jolts up when a piercing alarm blares in his ears.
“Ben what the hell!” Kevin glares at him and shoves him away while Ben is howling at his expense.
“It’s Christmas Kevin! Time to wake up and get going.” Ben laughs at him and stumbles out of the room like they’re teenagers and not in their twenties.
When Kevin finally awakes and drags himself downstairs he passes Gwen in the hall.
She is just as tired as him. Her eyes are half open as she wobbles down the hall. She almost collides into Kevin but rights herself quickly. She suppresses a yawn and gives him a look of sympathy.
“I see he woke you up too.” She mumbles.
He can only nod and follows her down into the living room.
The two curl themselves onto the couch and under the blankets. They face each other in silent understanding of their exhaustion.
Ben bounds down the stairs, feet pounding as he shakes them both.
“Not what I wanted. Grab your coats and I’ll meet you outside.” He says running back into the kitchen.
Kevin and Gwen groan and peel themselves off the warm couch to go outside. It’s still dark out and Kevin feels the irritation rise in him. He doesn’t care if it’s Christmas or not, Ben’s energy is too much for the sun to not even be out yet.
He sighs and helps Gwen by wrapping her coat loosely around her shoulders and barricades her inside the warmth of a blanket on top. She grins sleepily at him and shuffles herself to the front porch. He grabs a blanket for himself as well and follows her out.
Ben finally makes it outside and is holding a tray with three steaming mugs and a megawatt smile.
“I know it’s early, but I thought you guys would want to see this.” He hands each of them a warm mug. Kevin hopes its coffee.
Ben sits on the other side of Gwen and points toward the horizon and tells them to wait a few minutes. The three of them sit in silence and huddle together to keep warm. There is a newly fresh blanket of snow on the ground. It covers any footprints from the day before and leaves a clean slate.
Ben starts smacking Kevin's leg and makes him look over. Kevin opens his mouth to say something but Ben just points to the sky in excitement. He sighs before looking back up and he is stunned into silence.
Over the horizon the sun slowly starts to peak through the trees. It washes the clear sky in beautiful hues of pinks, purples, oranges, and yellows, dancing together to create artwork in the sky.
As the sun slowly peaks over Kevin sees the light start to reflect off the snow on the ground and in the trees. It looks like glitter. It’s truly just glowing and sparkling in front of them.
“Wow…” He hears Gwen gasp softly.
“I wouldn’t wake you guys up for nothing.” Ben whispers smiling at the sky.
“This makes it worth it Ben.” Kevin whispers smiling into his mug.
“Oh sorry, could you say that again Kev? I don’t think I heard you.” Ben asks smugly.
Kevin rolls his eyes but Gwen cuts him off before he can speak, “Don’t ruin the moment Ben.”
Ben leans back against the seat but pokes his tongue out at Kevin who just scoffs a laugh out.
The trio sit outside with their drinks and watch the sun rise for a full hour before Ben’s mom comes outside to usher them back in with the promise of breakfast.
During breakfast Kevin gifts the sweet bread he made the night before to Ben’s mother. Kevin gifts it while she’s still in the kitchen alone and she shrieks in excitement and hugs him tight.
“Oh, Kevin this is so sweet! You really didn’t have to get us anything. We really love having you here with us!” She swats his arm in affection. “I’m so excited I’ll serve this with our breakfast!”
Kevin’s face flushes but he just grunts his approval before going to join the others at the dinning table.
-
The Tennyson family exchanges gift as secret Santa. Kevin is relieved by that, he doesn’t know if he could handle a two-hour exchange of multiple gifts. Christmas was always rough for him as a kid and seeing other families who had a larger disposable income to spend on their children.
The small secret Santa gift exchange is cute. The Tennyson’s are almost like their own Hallmark movie.
Carl and Frank exchange their gifts for each other. They both have bought each other the exact same fishing vest with heated lining. They both just give the biggest belly laugh and joke about it.
Sandra and Natalie have each other and Kevin is seeing a pattern in this secret Santa. Seems not so secret at all.
The two women have gifted each other their presents they’ve both bought when they went shopping the day before. Neither seemed surprised by these gifts just giving each other warm thanks and setting the bags filled with goodies to the side. Kevin wonders if they just gave each other a list of what they wanted at this point.
Ben and Gwen, to no one’s surprise, have each other. These two have a much more thoughtful exchange. Kevin isn’t surprised by this in the least.
Gwen goes first and hands Ben a pretty small box. Ben raises his brow and opens it gently. He shrieks.
She rolls her eyes affectionately. “I know it’s like twelve years too late, but I thought I’d replace your favorite and super rare, Sumo Slammer Card I ripped up on our summer road trip.”
Ben grabs Gwen and hugs her tightly.
“How did you even get this?! They don’t print them anymore!” He laughs and holds the card like it’s his whole world.
Gwen laughs and nudges him, “Long story and a lot of shopping around forums online.”
Ben smiles so bright, but falters slightly as he grabs his gift for Gwen. “Well now mine looks sad in comparison now.”
Ben hands Gwen a small bag and she cocks her brow, “It really isn’t a competition Ben.”
Gwen opens the bag and her reaction is silence. She just stares inside the bag unmoving eyes wide.
“…do you like it?” Ben asks hesitantly.
“Show us what it is Gwen.” Natalie pushes her daughter.
Gwen picks up the gift from inside the bag and holds it gently. It’s a small photobook. It’s filled with photos from the summer road trip they took when they were ten.
“I went through a lot of old cameras and grandpa’s RV to find these. I know it’s not anything new or bought, but I thought you would want these.” He says softly.
Kevin can’t see Gwen’s face; her hair is falling in a curtain blocking it. She’s flipping through the small photobook.
Ben’s shuffling his weight back and forth on his feet waiting in anticipation.
She finally looks up and her face is wet and fat tears are rolling down her face. She’s trying to scrub them away but she hiccups a bit. Ben frantically moves to try and help Gwen.
“I’m so sorry, you don’t like it do you? I can get you something else!” Ben starts saying quickly not knowing what to do with Gwen.
She puts down the photo album and shoves Ben. “You jerk I love it!” She covers her face with her hands and starts sobbing.
Ben stumbles a bit before letting out a relieved sigh. He smiles lopsidedly at his cousin and goes to hug her. Gwen’s shoulders rock as she cries it out.
“This is the sweetest gift anyone’s ever given me you doofus!” she slurs into his shoulder.
Kevin smiles fondly at the pair from the couch and just shakes his head at them.
“Well there’s one more set of presents for everyone.” Their grandpa says and he stands and grabs a handful of small gifts to hand out.
Gwen peels herself off Ben and punches him jokingly in the shoulder before rubbing at her eyes again.
Max stops in front of Kevin and gives him a small wrapped present as well. Kevin quirks a brow at him and their grandpa shrugs his shoulders.
“Ben told me you were coming a while ago. Thought I might as well make it even.” He says lightly and goes back to his chair.
They all open their gifts together and Ben, Gwen, and Kevin all having matching tickets. Kevin’s even more confused.
“Those are for this summer.” Max tells them. “I know you’re all moving into the next stages of life, but I thought a week-long summer vacation would be nice for you and your friends.”
Ben looks at his grandpa in confusion. “I have two tickets?”
“For that friend of yours, Rook, right?” he answers easily. Ben flushes furiously.
“Where are we going?” Gwen says looking at their tickets. They have a collective of four plane tickets for them with a hotel reservation attached.
Kevin’s squirming. He’s uncomfortable, never has anyone gifted him something so… expensive. He’s not used to this, any of this. He wants to give it back.
Kevin opens his mouth but Gwen plops down next to him and places her hand on his shoulder.
“I wouldn’t that man is the most stubborn. He won’t take it back I promise.” She whispers.
Kevin’s brows furrow in frustration and his mouth forms a tight grimace.
“I know it’s not a road trip cross country but it is an all-inclusive beach trip. Have a good time and take care of each other.” Max tells them with a smile.
“Thank you!” Gwen and Ben tell their grandpa with smiles.
Max is looking at Kevin shift and squirm uncomfortably.
“Really I couldn’t-” He starts but is cut off.
“I insist. Ben’s talked a lot about you Kevin. Not just asking about if you can come for Christmas. You’re a good friend to him.”
Kevin feels his face flush in embarrassment. What has Tennyson been saying about him? A good friend? Kevin could scoff at that. He’s all about self-preservation. He’s just barely managed to make friends within the past three years. Ben and Rook mostly taking up his free time in those years.
He just nods his head at their grandpa and doesn’t put up a fight. Gwen leans onto him and whispers, “I told you.” With a cheeky smile on her lips.
He rolls his eyes and nudges her off with his elbow. She just giggles.
-
After dinner that night the family diverges into their own activities. Right now, Kevin’s buddle outside alone, smoking a cigarette and staring at the blanket of snow that still is glittering from the festive lights around the house.
Kevin’s hit his social battery for the day. He needs a break. This whole Christmas thing has had him itching to grab his phone all day.
It’s the first time in a long time he’s thought about calling his mom. Or texting her. He actually thinks he’ll combust if he tried to call her.
The phone weighs heavy in his pocket as he contemplates trying to reach out. Does he want to open that can of worms?
He shakes his head and takes a long drag from his cigarette. He can’t.
He hears the door open behind him but he doesn’t look behind him. He has a good guess on who it is.
Small hands peak around his face to cover his eyes.
“Guess?” her voice whispers into the wind.
“Is it a red headed woman whose sole mission is to make sure I never have a moments peace?” he replies with a smirk.
He can see again soon after and Gwen comes to side to lean on the railing of the porch.
“Harsh, accurate but harsh.” She pouts for a second at him before nudging his foot with her boot.
“Why are you out here like mister doom and gloom?” she asks.
Kevin sighs and puts out his cigarette.
He looks at her from the corner of his eye briefly before looking straight ahead. He scratches the back of head and takes a deep breath before he speaks.
“My parents kicked me out at fifteen.” He sighs and makes a grimace, “Well my step-dad kicked me out and my mom let him.”
He can feel her tense up at this, “You don’t have to tell me.”
He just shrugs, “I might as well.” He turns to make eye contact with her. Bright green stares back at him with undivided attention.
“They kicked me out and after that I kinda ran off. I did everything and went everywhere I could get to. I’ve done a lot of drugs and was an alcoholic by seventeen.” His vision shifts back to the ground.
“I’ve been arrested multiple times, theft, possession of illegal drugs, assault. I’m not a good person Gwen.” He tells her itching for another cigarette.
“I haven’t spoken to my family since I was around seventeen and I think my step-dad bailed me out of jail. I can’t really remember to be honest. I was drugged out of my mind in some other state.” He sighs heavily. “I don’t do the holiday thing because I’m not built for it. It’s not meant for me.”
Gwen nods her head in understanding. She steps closer and brushes his shoulder with hers.
“So, what about now? Who is Kevin Levin now?” she asks quietly.
He turns to her in confusion, “Huh?”
She leans back on her heels, still holding onto the railing, “Everything you just said was you in the past right? So, who are you now? From what Ben’s said, you don’t sound anything like the old you. Who’s to say that you can’t enjoy something that’s suppose to bring joy like a holiday?”
Kevin scoffs at that. “He’s been saying a lot of things about me it seems.”
She shrugs her shoulders, “Nothing bad. In fact, it’s only good things I ever hear about you. I was actually kind of really excited to meet you when he told us you were coming.” She admits looking back up at him.
He feels himself blushing, “What, why?!” he almost barks out.
Her laugh breaks the tension and she cocks her head, “Because you’re his best friend.”
She starts numbering off with her fingers what she knows, “You drove him two hours to go see grandpa in the hospital last year with no questions asked when his car broke down. You’ve helped him build his car up from the junkyard heap it was. I also know you were the one who beat the shit out of the guys at the bar who attacked Ben and Rook for just holding hands.”
Kevin looks at her like she’s grown a second head, “That’s not- you’re making all that sound better than what it is.” He mumbles kicking some snow off the porch and crossing his arms.
She rolls her eyes and places her hands on her hips, “No Kevin. The numbers show you’re a pretty great person.”
He shakes his head, “Really that stuff wasn’t anything revolutionary. I was just-”
“Being a good person. Surprise, people change. You did.” She says softly.
Kevin looks back at Gwen and she’s smiling at him. She knows she’s won. Kevin just lets out a soft chuckle.
“Sure, I guess. Still doesn’t change my relationship with my family.” he shrugs.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day. Maybe not this year, but maybe one year. Things can change.” She places her hand on his upper back and rubs it in circular motions.
“Maybe.” He mumbles.
Silence sits between them, it’s comfortable, and Kevin stares into Gwen’s eyes. Her eyes sparkle with kindness and hope, and he thinks he could stare into her eyes forever. It’s a passing thought but it’s enough for him to blush and tinge his face in embarrassment.
Gwen can feel it too and she blinks and her eyes frantically move to anywhere but his. Her face flushing pink.
“I’m uh, going to go back in.” She tells him wrapping her coat tighter to her body. “But uh, we’re going to watch a move in a bit if you want to join us.”
He nods silently staring at her. Her face darkens to a redder hue and she shuffles for a second before reaching up and kissing his cheek softly.
“Merry Christmas Kevin.”
He stares after her as she scurried back inside to the warmth of the house. His eyes are blown wide and a small smile slips onto his face.

Memories #2 | Parker
Note: Laura is Parkers deadname, they didn't start going by Parker until about 16. So though their family in this will call them Laura and use she/her, the rest of the text will call them Parker and use they/them.
"MOM!!! MOM!! LOOK WHAT THE HELL LAURA HAD UNDER HER BED!!!" Kevin practically screeched as he bounded down the stairs to skidded into the living room, little Parker chasing after him to no avail.
Helen startled as he rounded the corner, almost choking on her drink. Placing the glass down, she shot Kevin a glare, "Kevin Daniel Moore, what have I told you about running around like that?? Especially up and down the stairs, you're going to break your neck!" her eyebrows knit together as she noticed the box her son held, "What is that? And why were you looking in your sisters things?" she glanced at Parker, who was now peeking around the corner, not daring to speak or enter.
"She took my fucking pocket knife! I was getting it back but LOOK!!" he shoved the box onto the coffee table and received another glare from his mother. He may be a teen now, but there was absolutely no room for that kind of language in her house. "Stop cursing, you should have just told your father to get it back from her." she scanned the box on the table before reaching for it.
It was just an old box from a few Christmases ago, partially damaged with the lid only haphazardly staying on. Parker was only eight, what could they possibly be hiding? Rocks? Broken toys? Kevin was likely overrreacting, looking for a reason to get them in trouble.
She placed again at Kevin, then at the little blonde still peeking around the corner, amber eyes watching her every movement. As she moved the box she was surprised by the sound of jars clinking inside, where had Parker gotten jars? And why would they be in a box? Under their bed no less? Something akin to anxiety bloomed in Helens stomach as she removed the lid, immediately dropping it and shouting in shock when she saw the contents.
Death. Death was in the box would be how she later described it to her husband. Small animal bones, teeth, tails, and claws were loose in the box. And several jars full of what looked like hand sanitizer sat lined on one side, containing what would later be found to be eyes, hearts, heads, and intestines.
"OH MY WORD. I- W-" she sputtered, caught between anger and horror, "LAURA! GET OVER HERE IMMEDIATELY!" Helen stood, tossing the lid back on the box and turning towards the door where her eight year old was hesitantly creeping in to stand before her.
The yelling lasted what felt like forever, but must have been only twenty minutes before Parker was sent up to their room to stay there until dad got home, and where they would stay without dinner until school the next day.
Angry at getting their things taken, and even angrier at the smug look Kevin had worn while they were getting chewed out, Parker threw themselves on the bed and pouted. It was just some bones and stuff, it wasn't that bad, at least it wasn't the bodies right? They had even looked up how to preserve the soft stuff without it rotting and smelling! Kevin was 15, surely he'd seen dead stuff before, like roadkill or what the hawks leave out in the woods, what was the problem with just the pieces?
They'd have to get back at him, he had been poking around and messing with their stuff! His stupid knife was on the dresser, but he kept looking through the whole room even after he got it! But they knew well enough that they had to play the long game, they couldn't get back at him while still in hot water, they would have to wait. And wait they did.
Nobody saw it coming, and nobody suspected Parker, when Kevin woke up three weeks later to wolf spiders and centipedes crawling in his bed.

The maturity in how Damon was acting in 1x22 and the regression in 2x01 was too unbelievable. Kevin admitted that he didn't want people to root for Delena after he noticed how many people liked them and said multiple times that he ships Stelena and believes they were soulmates. He claims that if Nina could have been on the show longer he would had Elena go back to Stefan. About what Damon did to Jeremy at the beginning of season 2 he said his thought process was what could he do to make Damon look too irredeemable and more antagonistic in the audience's eyes. He was surprised when much of the audience still shipped Delena. I feel like Damon snapping Jeremy's neck was unbelievable considering his development in season 1, and that too adding that he didn't know about the ring. We deserved better writers.
They could've kept Stelena together, but as far as I'm concerned, they ruined any chance for that ship when they wrote 4x23. Stelena wouldn't have sold the series. Whoever thought Delena was a better endgame knew what they were doing.
I felt like Damon in 2x1 was believable because Katherine had that much power over him. She has as much power over him that he has over Elena when he goes to the prison world in 5x22, only worsened in the 145 years that he waited for her. His journey had to be slow and violent. He's meant to come off almost as bad as the Ripper.
I have a hard time believing any writer would make him irredeemable. If he were, it wouldn't be a Salvatore love story. An irredeemable character is typically sent to hell. I can understand Kevin wanting to write him doing some things that cross the line to drag out the love triangle, but only that far. Otherwise he gets an ending like Kai's character.

The Mosley Review: Clerks 3
Tumblr media
There's something sort of romantic about a director returning to the franchise that brought forth their career. Returning to their roots and never forgetting who they were in the process. Making a sequel almost 10 years later to an original isn't unheard of, but making a sequel almost 30 years later is something that has started to become more of a common ground. When its done with the same love and reverence it is magical, but when it is done just to get the band back together, it feels so cheap and soulless. This film is very far from the latter and I felt the same amount of joy and fun I had watching the original the film. It may have taken a long time to get to this hilariously meta story in theaters, but the wait was definitely worth it. I loved that the film mirrored the life of the director, but also played with the themes of mortality, making amends with one's past and valuing the time you have with the people you love. Sure this film features the alot of stoner humor, but its well balanced.
Tumblr media
Brian O'Halloran was fantastic and hasn't skipped a beat as Dante. The evolution of the character over the years has been strong and this was the most defining chapter of the characters' arc. He was even more surprised by the antics of his regulars and always delivering great moments of emotional weight. Jeff Anderson was once again amazing as Randal and I liked that even in his later age, he still has that quick wit. He takes his character to another level as the story mostly focuses on his new life choice after facing a life altering experience. He finally has a direction in life and there is a moment where he truly sees the damage he has caused to others. The chemistry between Brian and Jeff has never been stronger and more contentious. Rosario Dawson returns as Becky and she was even more lovable and charming this time around. The chemistry between her and Dante was really the emotional bond and introspective view the film featured through them. Trevor Fehrman was great and kooky as Elias as he goes through a wardrobe of emotions and looks that keep you guessing on what he's gonna do next. Amy Sedaris as Doctor Ladenheim was great and I loved her comedic timing as she mixes so many pop culture references. Justin Long steals the screen in such a small time as the Orderly. Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith of course return as the iconic dynamic stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob. They were on point and hilarious in the right scenes and at the right time. I never get tired of seeing those 2.

The score by James L. Venable, where it was used, was beautiful and drives the emotional moments home. The soundtrack in the film was fun and had some great songs that I've already found myself humming. The only problems I had were somewhat in the middle where some of the comedy didn't land and some moments could've held for a few more seconds. Overall, this was a fun and heartfelt conclusion to a trilogy 30 years in the making and I'm glad that writer and director Kevin Smith got to see it through to the emotional end it deserved. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

We made an official deal / plan on our cafe date 🫶🏽
We are TTC this summer as soon as I get my results from the allergy test and moving to Miami after Thanksgiving 🙏🏽
I’m going to tell my Mimi on her birthday - March 9th. She is going to be so happy and I can’t wait to see her face. I just told her last week that us moving back wasn’t going to happen because Kevin didn’t want to rent. But when I told K that I didn’t want to have more kids without my family nearby, he said he would rather rent + have another baby than build a meditation center right now.
I don’t know how I didn’t realize it before - how much it means to me to have my family with me for my next pregnancy + delivery. It feels like such a relief. I can’t convey how sad it made me to be apart from my family for most of my pregnancy. The heartbreak I felt that my family had to fly across the country when my daughter was nearly 2 months old and only got to see her for 5 days. My parents don’t have the flexibility to stay with me in NY for a month. My Mimi is too old and her husband is even older; he refuses to fly anymore. She can’t leave him because he freaks out that he’s going to die and she won’t be there.
My dad won’t fly anywhere — he has extreme anxiety.
My mom is single and lives paycheck to paycheck almost — she can’t be gone from work for very long.
Kevin’s parents are on sabbatical half the year (his mom is a tenured professor) and work from home (his dad is a lawyer whose cases are now done online). They spend half the year traveling and can do whatever they want. They can come to us, no problem.
I hated the city where I was born for so long but after traveling so much, I realize nowhere is perfect. But home is home.
I think when Sky is 5 and ready to officially enroll in Kindergarten, we will likely move back to NY. But we shall see! For now I’m just really excited for 2024 🙏🏽
