I have more fma/mob psycho thoughts I forgot to add to the masterpost, this time about psychic specialties
I think ed is probably like teru in that he tends to pick up new techniques pretty quickly and knows how to do a lot of different things with his powers, but he mostly sticks to telekinesis because that's what he knows best
al was the same way, but as a spirit he's got some other abilities. he mostly does poltergeist kinda stuff
once ling starts getting a better handle on his powers, I feel like he'd specialize in something like tsuchiya's hardening qigong. greed definitely helps with this
mei is one of the few espers with healing abilities, and she also is proficient in telekinesis. we don't know much about takeuchi's super qigong, but based on what little we've seen, that seems most comparable to her ranged alkahestry, so she likely can do that too! she also seems like she'd be good with spirits

Chimera noted her feelings for Kay before Kay came to the realization of how she felt about Chimera.
Ilyana and Barnard are besties despite not interacting too much; what is awkward silence to others, is comfortable silence with each other.
Ilyana and Tiffany can not stand each other. Tiffany tries to embarrass Ilyana when she can, but fails every time. Ilyana strains a smile when she has to interact with Tiffany.
Nashira and Timur often spar. Sieron watches them from a distance, rooting for Nashira.
Deidre, Chimera, and Ilyana enjoy having sleepovers and talk about their personal lives. It’s a manner of coping and venting about whatever is troubling them.
Laxus is in denial about Ilyana having a crush on Timur, so he often sends Timur away on important missions to keep him away.
Erza worries about her daughter pushing herself too much for the sake of living up to her “Fairy Princess” name. Jellal has similar concerns, but trusts that Kay can come to her senses when necessary, and if not, he will talk and guide her to inner peace.
Natsu loves his daughter to death and has coddled her a bit too much in the past, which led to Lunaria being bratty till she was humbled by Orsa and Chimera (multiple times).
The Redfox twins see Lucy and Juvia like their second mothers, while Pantherlily is seen as their gentle and trustworthy uncle. Jet and Droy are strange, yet kind, family friends.
Milianna has babysat Kay in the past. Kay would be elated whenever Milianna came over to watch over her. Milianna considers Kay dear to her and will protect her no matter the circumstance.
Gaur and Eris are good friends with Viktor, so much so that Viktor shares intel about Fairy Tail without realizing that information should not be shared (and vice versa).
Erik (Cobra) and Kinana love their son, so they show their love through leniency and giving Barnard a lot of freedom, which he doesn’t use much.
Lianne spends her time with her mother at Fairy Tail, but occasionally visits her father in Quarto Cerberus.
Happy tries to be wise with Lunaria, but it is not in his nature, so he ends up encouraging risky behavior.
Timur and Lunaria shared their first kiss with each other (accidental). No one knows about this kiss...yet.

Introduction
Mai Yousei is the 2nd member of Fukuoka’s rap team, OverDrive. They’re known by their MC name “Shuiro.” A bubbly; gender conflicted dancer, Mai marches to a strong beat of their own drum and loves to go on adventures. After an illegal mic attack, they’ve suffered from a weak body. Despite that, they’ve managed to make it stronger than they anticipated. Along with Eko and Yuno, they’ll embark on a journey where they can’t go back, even if they wanted to.
Mai is a young adult in their early 20s and is both the youngest and tallest member of OverDrive, They have short coffee brown hair and a pair of vermilion eyes that sparkle with curiosity. They have 1 scarlet helix on their right ear and a mole on their chin.
Mai’s attire is a black/neon red street corset with their quote in neon red font, under a black varsity jacket with neon red trim. Hypnosis Microphone
Mai’s hypnosis mic is a black/red recording mic with a pop filter. Once activated, The mic’s pop filter shows a hologram of their present location, which ties in with their rap ability.
Their speakers take the form of a multicoloured dance pad that flashes many colours according to Mai’s rapping and movement. There are also vibrant dance pad arrows that fly around and light up with their rapping and opponents movement.
Their rap ability “Puppet Master” grants them telekinetic abilities. Through forced mimicry on their speakers, Mai is able to telekinetically manipulate their opponents and any state of matter (Similarly to Yuno’s ability, but with less freedom.) Offstage, Forces such as time and motion can also be manipulated, but without any mimicry of movement.
Mai’s rapping revolves around the hardships of life and how careless people can be. They mostly incorporate themes of struggle and doubt which puts their listener on edge for their presence. Aside from that, they also rap more about how much pain somebody can go through, mostly from their past experiences.
Personality
Mai at first glance is a bouncing ball of energy, which is mostly shown by their ideas or gestures such as hugging. While they are energetic, they tend to also be more serious when need be. While dancing is a hard skill to master, They’ve already became more than just capable.
Inside their interior, they aren’t far from different. While they keep their energetic demeanour, other pieces also seep through. Other traits that Mai possesses include immense strength and a sense of persuasion. These skills mostly come in handy with dealing with opponents on Fukuoka’s streets.

Mewtwo fanfic PT 1
hello, this is a first draft and lots of errors so please be patient. I've never done something like this. but I've always wanted to try and I guess my favorite Pokémon will be a good start.
I'm just walking down the path and suddenly in a short free fall. I hit the ground hard and mumble and groan. Hearing a giggle I look up to see a small round portal just hovering in mid-air. it closes as soon as I see it. trying to sit up. Looking around I am in a huge room all washed in a slate grey. a large dining table sits to the side of the room. in the back, there are a few pools and a helix staircase. this all feels familiar… spooky familiar. I stand up and look for an exit thinking I probably shouldn't be here. seeing a large door behind me I get up thinking it would at least show me a different room or some route out. heading for it I jog into an invisible wall. "Owww FUCK" I hold my hand to my nose. wondering what the hell I hit. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, HUMAN?" Thunders through my skull. Wincing, I look around and see a large catlike anthro at the base of the helix. his large purple tail lashing back and forth. oh my god, it can't be… "it's Mewtwo?" My face paled and I try to head back toward the large doors. only to be grabbed by his telekinetic powers and yanked back. trying to move anything I squirm and try to fight his grip. I try to calm myself down as he turns me around to see the large pokemon. his purple eyes scowling at me "What are you doing here?" He asks again. I stare into his eyes for a sec "Well, I'm not sure maybe I took a wrong turn at the last island." I half chuckle. "If you just put me down I'll just head back off. no need to make a scene." I start to ramble. Mewtwo looks me up and down "But you have no pokemon. how do you protect yourself?" I grimace "I'm a swimmer, never felt I needed one." knowing that my clothes show I'm lying. I feel pressure behind the back of my eyes. I realize he's trying to read my mind. I try to fight it and he squeezes me tighter. My temper gets the best of me. I start growling to try to fight the panic. I hate being pinned down and this is much worse. not being able to move makes me focus on the energy I had in my body. "Let… Me… GO!" I yell pushing what energy I have into it. surprising myself as much as him, I drop to the floor. shaking my head I try to get a jist of what happened I look at him groaning on the floor not too far away. I spin around getting a baring of where I was and head for the large doors. I run past the table before Mewtwo grabs me again. I fall to the floor and I claw at anything to cling to. grabbing one of the table legs I stare at my hands in disbelief. claws had formed on my hands I jump at the sight and get dragged again. Mewtwo pulls me to his feet. not wanting to be pind I swing at him with my new claws… bad idea. his hand glows and I'm shoved harshly to the floor. he growls at me "You look human, but clearly, you are not. WHAT ARE YOU!" Mewtwo yells into my head pushing me harder into the floor. I groan in pain but I refuse to yell. "I'm confused as you are" I hiss through my teeth. Being pinned I try to thrash around again, hating the feeling I growl. "I don't want to be any part of this, let me go." I try to do another energy blast and I feel like I got struck by a tazer. I just don't have the energy to fight I lay panting on the ground from the energy use. Mewtwo stares down at me and lowers his hand. feeling the release I sit up though he keeps my legs pinned. "You are a part of it now, you oddly know too much for me to just let you go. but if you cooperate you may find it, interesting. you are bizarre and I'm, finding myself curious." he gestures his head in my direction. "Look down." I look to Mewtwo puzzled and then look down. I yelp "ahh the hell?" I see a long grey tail that wasn't there just minutes before. I hear Mewtwo move and I look at him again. I see I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I choose to run he'll probably control or kill me. I choose to stay, will it change anything that I know about the history that might need to happen? I think back on how I got here. a ring connecting this and my universe. Hoopla? why would hoopla drop a random human into this time and place of the pokeverse?

Okay so was thinking half body coloured lines of K/oyama (S1 sleeveless shirt version) where his Telekinetic Helix is instead Shock Jockey from B/ioshock (crystals and electricity)
Shirt slightly ragged (but not open). Electric crystals can be on both his arm and the back of his hand.
Crystals look like irl crystal clusters like below for back of hand (then ones on arm would be single ones like the official art above)
Pose:
No blood though ignore that on the ref, but the kind of lean back pose, eyes would be open focused downward, mouth open like this subtle grin. Only change is would want the arm in this photo (one next to the pipe on the wall) to be rised up with the shock jockey/telekinetic helix. Hand open with electricity around it and electricity around that one arm in the shape of a helix.

Mob Psycho 100 - Kameda Yoshimichi’s Character Design Notes
With each blu-ray/DVD volume of MP100 Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi gives some notes regarding his process designing each character. Here are all his notes for S1 in the order they are presented, regarding; Kageyama Shigeo, Reigen Arataka, Tsubomi, Dimple, Kurata Tome, Mezato Ichi, Hanazawa Teruki, Gouda Musashi, Kageyama Ritsu, Onigawara Tenga, Koyama, Awakening Lab Five, Terada, Matsuo, Sakurai, Ishiguro, Muraki.
KAGEYAMA SHIGEO
With Mob-kun, the first thing I had a bit of trouble with was - do I keep his design as it is in the manga!!??? Should I make him a little prettier!!!!!??? Should I make him taller!!!!??? Those were the kinds of things I thought about. During a meeting, we didn’t reach any conclusion, so I tried out a few things!!!! ONE-san’s recent designs for Mob Psycho 100 have been amazingly good, so I scooped up the taste of those illustrations and applied them to my anime designs. The atmosphere of the manga is lost if you make these characters too beautiful or make them taller, so I made the right choice!!
REIGEN ARATAKA
I feel I didn’t really struggle with Reigen’s anime design!!!! His suit is plain and there’s not many parts to his design, which was a little upsetting, but in terms of his character there’s no need to decorate him, so I thought that simple is fine. More than anything he pulls plenty of funny faces, so even if his design is simple he stands out as a character, so I think leaving his design as it is in the manga was the correct decision. In the manga, his tie is black, but here, to give a little extra to his design, his tie is pink - that’s a feature of the anime!!!!! Also, Something I particularly fussed over in the anime was the way he stands, with his hips cocked!!!! That’s the anime’s Reigen!!!!!
TSUBOMI
Fans of Mob Psycho 100 probably went, “Who the hell is this”, huh. (Laughs). A discussion was had in which I said I wanted to make her more heroine-like and sparkly - in the manga, she gives off the impression that she turns a lot of heads and puts on airs, but for the anime I thought it’d be good to make her into a more traditionally coded heroine!!!!!! From a directorial perspective I wanted to give her a country-girl-kinda look, so I gave her a hairpin. Regarding the colour of her hair and eyes, there was a lot of trial and error…... well, I think the way she is now is the most heroine-ish, isn’t it!!!!! She’s voiced by Satake-san, too, which is something symbolic!!!!!
DIMPLE
Dimple is a character that I had a good amount of trouble figuring out how to deal with design-wise - I’ll contrast him with Mob-kun, give him a flashy colour, then should I make him luminescent?? Have him slowly sway as he floats?? You could say Dimple’s facial expressions are the greatest in Mob Psycho 100, so I tried to draw as many variations in Dimple’s reference sheet as possible. Drawing expressions for this work was really fun! When I draw, I’m aware that I give distinct facial features!!! Well, not that distinct, but (laughs). Also, Ootsuka-san lending his nice, low voice to a character like Dimple gave the character depth, in a way that makes him quite profound. That’s the power of voice acting… but it made me a little worried, as I thought, I have to make sure the art lives up to his performance!!!!
KURATA TOME
Tome-san is a character that’s truly perfect as she is in the manga, so I tried to not ruin that! She has THE Mob Psycho face!!!! When I was choosing the colours for the school uniform, my decision was made based on how the colours suited her, Mezato and Tsubomi, but the bright blue in the uniform for some reason or another doesn’t suit Tome-san (laughs). The colour is lost a little on Tome-san. I thought Tome-san was quite a gloomy character, but her voice actress, Tanezaki-san, performs her in such a funny way that I ended up loving her! I think, out of all the characters, my view on her changed the most! “Tome Psycho 100” wouldn’t be a farfetched anime idea.
MEZATO ICHI
I drew Mezato with the intention of making her the heroine!!! When drawing character sheets I draw any particular trait the character may have and then pose them and see what I think - the moment I drew her standing with her camera, I fell in love!! (Laughs). The round head she has due to the silhouette of her short bob - I love that!!!! Her caramel coloured hair also stands out in her design!! She’s fresh!! And her eyes are big and round!! In terms of what makes up her design she’s not too different to Tome-san, but I really felt a girlishness in Mezato!!!! My heart is racing!!! But she never appears!!! Director, please include her more!!!!!!!! Let’s make “Mezato Psycho 100”!!!
HANAZAWA TERUKI
[Written in Osakan dialect that gets more intense as it goes on]
Teru-kun is a character whose appearance changes a lot - I designed 6 variations of his hair and clothes!!!!! That’s way too many!!!!! I don’t know if the number has significance but we see him in his 150% form the most, so I’ve gotten used to seeing him like that!!!! It makes me laugh so much! I wasn’t satisfied - I made his hair extend so far that you can’t even see the top of it usually! In the anime you could say his hair is at 200%!! I can’t decide between the version of him we first see, his bobbed hair version or his short hair version. How can I!!!!! Let’s bring back his 150% hair!!!!!!! Wow, I’ve gone full Osaka dialect here. The colour of his sweater was decided to my taste. Director’s sole judgement was that it’s cute and resembles pyjamas.
GOUDA MUSASHI
As you’d expect, I really fussed over President Gouda of the Body Improvement Club as he’s a popular character!! His characteristics are his caterpillar-like sideburns and eyebrows, his soft mohican hair, and his brawny body. He’s unexpectedly hard to draw (laughs), I suppose I had trouble with him. Above all else The Body Improvement Club’s existence gives a sense of security within Mob Psycho 100 - they’re strong and brave, but it was pretty difficult trying to make sure their facial expressions weren’t too intense!!!!! Kumagawa, Sagawa, Yamamura, Shimura… these are characters who I’d love to delve deeper into!!
KAGEYAMA RITSU
I tried to make Ritsu-kun have more of an adult-like aura than Mob. He barely smiles, so he has an intense look in his eyes. I kept in mind that his eyes are only allowed to become soft when he’s with Mob. His irises are bigger than Mob’s own, so there’s a bit of a difference there. Also, he gets a mid-anime gloom story, so I decided to make his hair a little bit on the longer side. His hair is flexible - I’d make his bangs/fringe longer or shorter depending on his expression. When he’s possessed by Dimple he’s magnificent, using his powers as a weapon. His eyes become even more intense, his hair gets all ruffled up and spiky, and he’s overflowing with confidence. ONE-sensei’s manga have all become like that, too, actually!!!!! Ahahahaha!!!!!!!!
ONIGAWARA TENGA
With Onigawara and his three lackeys, I gave them baggy pants to try and up their rural-delinquent-trashiness factor. Onigawara’s anime features are his baggy pants and the tape he has on his cheek. It gives off the impression that he’s some king of the punks who’s always getting injured… but truth is, it’s probably just there to cover up a pimple (laughs). He’s in a situation where he’s bettering himself after the recorder incident, so perhaps the next time we see him he’ll have given up on those baggy pants and will wear the same clothes as everyone else!!!!!! Switching topics, what’s up with those two wrinkles he has under each eye?? Please enlighten us, ONE-sensei!!!!!!
KOYAMA
You know, since Mob and Reigen use flip phones I thought that was the standard for the Mob Psycho 100 universe, but then we have Koyama with his smartphone. Sakurai uses a flip phone, too. So, only Koyama has a smart phone? What videos does he watch on it? Which apps does he have installed… it’s a mystery… a mystery!!!! Please enlighten us, ONE-sensei!!!! Switching topics, I’m pleased with the unique aura that his special move, Telekinetic Helix, has. Mob, Teru, Ritsu, Claw… everyone has their own particular colours!!
AWAKENING LAB
Hoshino-kun, Asahi-kun, Kurosaki-san, and the Shiratori brothers all have a sense of individuality, so I suppose it was easy to visualise what colours they might have!! For Hoshino-kun, the process was; Hoshino [star field] -> hoshi [star] -> star -> Nishikino Akira [A Japanese celebrity with a song titled ‘Passionate Star Disco’] -> white!! I thought, his clothes definitely have to be white (laughs). Kurosaki-san’s clothes are sporty but not particularly fashionable, Asahi-kun was designed with a ‘you’re almost there’ feeling, and the silent Shiratori brothers have plain clothes… it was with that that I decided the colours of these five, having them all be out of fashion. Episode 10 had Oda-san as its animation director - he drew a very good and cute Kurosaki-san!
TERADA
What stands out with Terada’s design is his T-shirt that droops below his left shoulder - is it a fashion statement, or is it simply worn out of shape? Who knows!! As something special to the anime, his middle fingers that present his special move, “air whip”, are adorned with jewelled rings! I’ll leave it up to you all to decide whether or not those rings have some hidden secret to them. Out of all the upper echelon members of Claw, Terada has the richest facial expressions - plus, he’s voiced by Tachiki-san - so even when he’s undergoing water torture, despite the cruelty of the situation, he still comes across as good and charming!!!!!
MATSUO
Matsuo is monotone-ish in the manga, but, “I could give him a magician-ish feel?”. So now he has a dark green shirt with yellow lines. The vase he carries has a bunch of colourful stickers on it, so I tried to make sure Matsuo himself wasn’t too flashy or he and his vase would clash!! Candy-chan and Cookie-chan were also fun to draw!!!! Their colours are also good!!!!
SAKURAI
This simple, undecorated design is rather like him. I tried to make sure it didn’t look like he was wearing mourning clothes. I included red in the handle of his katana. I intended for his hair colour to be a natural, slightly dark brown… but looking at him on TV, it ended up being more of an unexpectedly lighter brown… Not my intention, lol. His slicked back hair was pretty hard to draw!!! The atmosphere of his design changes depending on how much of a forehead he’s given, the silhouette of his slicked back hair, and the application of highlights. Ah, this is unrelated, but me and his voice actor, Hosoya-san, are from the same area! We’re also similar in age, so I kinda feel an affinity toward him!!!!! You didn’t need to know that.
ISHIGURO
First off, I already knew that in the manga there’s an old man beneath that mask, so I gave him a hunched back! Following a request by the Director I made his boots plump, round, and cute!!!! With that, the woman’s voice that comes out of him with the mask on suits him!! You can really feel how cornered Ishiguro is during the season 1 finale, thanks to the power of his voice actor and the lead animator!!!!! It’s just, he has so many scars on his face that I felt sorry for him, so I want to find out more about him!!! I look forward to seeing him in an active role again!!!! ...Will he appear again, I wonder.
MURAKI
Muraki looks more like he’s in cosplay in the anime than he does in the manga (laughs). Following an idea from the director, I gave him a cloak and a mark on his chest that’s connected to the mark on his forehead!!! He’s even wearing boots!!! His design is all put together with purple in a fashion-conscious way!!! Anyway, it seems the director’s favourite colour is purple. Muraki, purple, muraki, murasaki[purple], director, murasaki[purple], muraki, purple. Something I fussed over with his suit beneath the cloak was giving it a gleaming lustre much like latex would have… makes you unsure of whether or not it’s a high quality suit. All in all, it costs 9800 yen!! A bargain price of 9800 yen! Now then, you there, sitting in front of the TV - together with the director, Let’s Muraki!!!!

Some concept art of the My Hero OC that I had been wanting to do but instead went with her opposite, Kasha Yūrei.
Name: Mio Izumi.
Family: Parents: Water Hose, Little Brother: Kota Izumi, Second Cousin: Shino Sosaki
Quirk: Hydrokinesis. She can control bodies of water telekinetically. This includes pulling it from the air and plants around her. She can also take hold of and manipulate the fluid within an organism’s body, allowing her to move the organism’s muscles.
Super Move ➡️ Hemokinetic Helix: Mio draws a considerable amount of blood from her opponent’s orfices as well as some from herself before releasing it in a concussive spiraling blast that knocks her opponent back.
Trivia: Mio looks similar to her mother, with the same ocean blue eyes and smile. Though her hair is a much darker brown and also way longer.
Weirdly enough she ended up looking like a Soul Eater OC but it’s whatever I guess.

That’s all I can glean so far? So apart from those rules, I’m going to review your character as though she’s Alternian, since it takes place in the same universe.
Name: Sallva Spiral
You don’t really mention why you gave her this name, but since she’s a self-insert I am going to assume that the first name is at least somewhat related to your first name. The last name could do with some obfuscation though; ow about Xilleh, which is just “helix” backwards and with an extra ‘l.’ It’ll also help hammer home the “mutated DNA” theme I’m hoping to include. I also like it because now both her first and last name have two l’s side by side, which kind of looks like a strand of DNA that has unwound before replication!
Strife Specibus: woo! I am unsure if it’s an actual weapon or not, but before the game she doesn’t have one. Her Strife Specibus consist of two mini scythes (she got the code from a friend of hers), connected to chains that cuff to her wrist. That way, if one gets knocked out of her hand, she doesn’t have to jump all over the place to retrieve it in battle
I think that’s still a specibus; it’s just scythekind. In the meantime, I’ve had a look at you and your co-author’s profiles on deviantArt, and I think y’all may be interested in the mechanics of the Spiral Knights MMO since it links your names together! In light of that, maybe you wanna try swordkind, given that it’s the iconic Spiral Knight weapon? You can still keep the concept of a weapon that’s cuffed to her wrists.
Fetch Modus: I am unsure of what to give her. As if I’m going to be honest, she’s more likely to use a bag than a Fetch Modus

Blood Color: Gold! Haha
So here is where I’m trying to hammer home the mutantblood concept bc you’ve made a goldblood with very very obvious seadweller ears, and those two generally don’t…mesh…
I may lose the ears, but I’m gonna take a page out of CD’s book for an “aquablood” mutant we got a while ago and make her a polyblood to preserve some of the interesting aspects of this character. I’m thinking cerulean, since there’s overlap there both in the symbol visual and in eye-weirdness. Also lets me keep one of the colors in her initial color scheme with easy design justification.
She could be a polyblood who was basically assumed to be a “pure” goldblood because of her eyes, but whose true abilities lie in being a latent ceruleanblood.
As for why she wasn’t culled as a baby: this yellowblood doesn’t really look like a mutant, and even if her weird cerulean eye is an indication that she is, look at the other one. She’s got partial voidrot! She’ll be dead soon anyway. So the reason Sallva is still kickin’ is because, as a gold/ceruleanblood, her cerulean side generates enough energy to temper her voidrot, while her gold side dampens her psychic abilities by feeding off the energy. No telekinesis.
Symbol and Meaning: Her Symbol is actually from the Extended Zodiac, so I am unsure of it’s meaning.
It’s Gemsces, sign of the Prudent! A quick rundown: overbearingly smart, restless and skeptical, and always looking to take care of others. Also, prudence means showing careful thought and planning for the future.
Troll Tag: spiralLights! It’s a reference to her original last name that I had given her before I found out about the 6 letter thing.
Quirk: she replaces her ‘s’ with ‘5’, her ‘a’ with ‘@’, and her ‘o’ with ‘0’
While this dovetails with canon, we’ve also found with Hiveswap Friendsim that quirks needn’t necessarily be all that complex! We’ve been operating off the quirks of a bunch of real dramatic trolls for a while now. But maybe that’s who your troll is! If we go specifically with the polyblood redesign, the “too many quirks” could also just be a reflection of her inner self, which is a soup of contradictions.
I think I can make up sufficient reason to keep these quirks; Sallva can swap her s’s out for 5′s because of the 5 nucelotides we commonly see in DNA and RNA. She can swap a for @ because it’s a spiral. As for swapping o with 0, I have I think a sufficiently interesting backstory for her that’ll make that work.
Actually let me just add another one, for fun, if you’re keeping the new last name: Sallllva doublles allll her ‘l’s. The quick br0wn f0x jump5 0ver the ll@zy d0g. Give5 her @ nice llittlle dr@wll, and overdramatic to boot.
Special Abilities: She’s a Gold blood, so it’s obvious she has some sort Psychic ability. Hers is Strong Empathic abilities. Sometimes they can be so strong she gets confused as to which emotions are hers, she can also guess a person’s thoughts sometimes.
Goldblood abilities are typically telekinetic in nature, not psychic! But I really really like this concept, so I think this gets folded into the polyblood mythos; she’s heavily empathetic because of the psychic abilities that ceruleanbloods sometimes get!
To make things interesting, let’s make it so she has stuttering resistance to psychic attacks; sometimes active resistance, and sometimes an even lower resistance than usual depending on her mental state.
Lusus: Her Lusus is a mix between a Snake and an Eevee. Why? Because I like Snakes and am a Proud Slytherin and my favorite Stuffed animal is an Eevee. Her Lusus is Deceased
Also works for the polyblood theory, since polyjuice potion uses snakeskin and Eevee is like, the Pokemon for taking a generic base and turning it into whatever you want.
Personality: She’s paranoid. It doesn’t really affect her often, but she was one of the few in her session who was Skeptical about SGRUB. She’s loyal though, as well as possessive. She’s actually killed trolls who picked on her friend, who’s a mutant blood. She gets most of her traits from me. She’s my ‘True Sign Troll.’
Interest: She loves Art, her cat Frisk, Writing, Snakes, Plants
Iiiiiii don’t know that trolls can have cats as like…pets? But let me sell you on a different idea: when Sallva’s yellowblood lusus was killed, she despaired. Her mental health went downhill. She was unusually prone to psychic manipulation. Until…she was found by a ceruleanblooded lusus who had lost its charge. It is highly unusual for a lusus to bond with an adult troll, but it had just lost its troll at a very young age, and was mostly acting on instinct to find the nearest unbonded ceruleanblood. Most ceruleanblood lusii seem to be bug-like, but we could argue for something like the Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro:

Title: Mage of Life - She actually uses her ability over Life to control plants to help her fight, or to talk to animals to get help. I am unsure all of what a Mage of Life can do, but I do know they make brilliant doctors, especially if they reach God Tier, which Sallva does. After ascending to God Tier, she refused to kill another Soul, mostly because she can feel their pain. The only exception being her Ex-Matesprite, Adrium.
Hmmm. Once again, since this is a self-insert I’m loath to change stuff like names or signs or titles since people usually come to it after a great deal of introspection. Makes more sense to retrofit the character abilities so…
Let’s consult my co-mod’s write-up on what a Mage of Life is!
I don’t know that she’d be able to control plants or ask animals to get help, but it makes a lot of sense to me that she’d be able to encourage nearby creatures to help just by broadcasting her distress. Also I really like the touch that she’s essentially railroaded into the Hippocratic oath after god-tiering because of overblown empathy. I would be most interested in seeing how Adrium’s death would affect her, since her anger wouldn’t supercede his pain.
D/Ancestor: I am unsure, I haven’t actually come up with them quite yet.
How about the Inklling? Unlike her descendant, this troll was mistakenly assigned as a ceruleanblood. She was most famous for having devastatingly accurate hunches when solving mysteries, much to the chagrin of the tealbloods below her. In reality, this was her empathetic abilities manifesting themselves, though they were deeply tempered by her partial voidrot, and therefore not detected by her fellow caste.
Land: Land of Jungles and Deserts - *Snickers* I most put her here because I wanted to be able to make her complain about being a Sea-Dweller in a Desert and stuff.
So since we’ve made it so she’s no longer a seadweller, how about we subvert this here by submerging her in water? Maybe Land of Corals and Chorals to really hammer home an almost mermaidy theme?
Dream Planet: Derse - My baby’s a proud Derse Dreamer. Anyway this is relevant in the way the Derse Dreamers are Blue Team, and Prospit Dreamers are Red Team.
History: Sallva actually blames herself for her Lusus’ death, why? Because her Ex-Matesprite killed her. Adrium (Ex-Matesprite) is a violent troll, but Sallva overlooked his faults until it was too late. She gets revenge during the game and kills Adrium, though she looses her eyes and a piece of her horn to the fight, she reataches her horn with a vine though. She currently only has a Moirail (which I might upload later.) Her Sprite is Frisksprite, who jumped in the orb thingy (I forgot what it’s called.) They live on a sister planet to Alternia called Tronia, and have in fact met the Cannon Trolls a few times when Tronia’s Princess went to visit her fellow Princess, Feferi. They haven’t been there since Alnaya (Princess) got in a fight with Feferi. Though a few of them remain friends with the Cannon trolls, for example; Sallva and her Moirail Nellie still being friends with Nepeta and Equius(did I spell his name right?)

Hair - just added stuff here and there to give it volume!
Horns - I gave her a second set to match with goldblood norms!
Visor - changed to match new eye colors
Mouth - added teeth since both ceruleans and yellows are a toothy bunch
Shirt - so USUALLY you’re not really allowed to display your symbol in anything other than your blood color, but I thought keeping it black was a nice nod both to the voidrot and to her polybloodedness.

Part 8
Being the first person awake was something new to me. Well, not awake, but I was never the first one skulking around the kitchen in the morning. I say skulking because I took each step as quietly as I could and opened each cupboard with as much careful control as I had. I didn’t want to make a peep. I was never the first one up.
Truth be told, I was up the entire night. I started researching the Cerran war over Creos. (It was a revolutionary war. Creos wanted independence from a government several light years away.) But as the night went on, I seemed to fall down multiple rabbit holes and came away with what felt, at the moment, like a head full of mostly useless facts.
Darebajyk were telekinetics whose origins are still debated. Kjanxe were a successful, but controversial, human-animal experiment created by qicuqop scientists. Plott had its own Broadway. Mansheon had a desert with the same surface area as “upper Plott.” The sport vissure caused the most injuries of any sport in Sa’cra. Bronud had animals almost tall as a man that looked like horned praying mantises. Space coffee is called “fewa.”
I think I watched three parts of a television show about motorcyclists. Well, they’re racers and they’re called mudulel. Motorers. I couldn’t tell if it was fiction or a docuseries.
I had my tablet with me as I went about finding food, having switched at this point to a news program. The volume was so low I could barely hear it, but I caught words here and there. I grabbed a small roll of bread from one cabinet, went around the island to see if there was anything knew inside a small box that preserved fruit. There were a few not-kiwanos. Those would do!
“This is new.”
I shrieked, spun around. Atlyana was leaning in the hallway entrance of the kitchen, smiling like she’d just witnessed a rare event. I guess she did.
“I didn’t mean to startle you.” She stepped forward, crossed her arms on the island.
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” I cleared my throat and shrugged, nonchalantly pulling myself into the table nook behind me. I made myself busy peeling at the spikes of my fruit. It was easy. All I had to do was dig a fingernail and drag.
“I didn’t think it was possible for you to come out of hiding so early.” She was still grinning as she slid across the kitchen, then into the seat across from me.
“Oh, ha-ha,” I gave her a mock smile, but nodded. “That is why I was trying to be silent. Truth said, I did not sleep. I was studying.”
“Were you? Studying?”
Atlyana seemed too excited, too eager, even for her pleasant nature. Her smile seemed to become even wider and she leaned in, arms crossed again. She looked expectant.
“Mm-hm,” I stopped peeling. “About the war, and some of the planets. Tawyn said I should look into those to help me. I want to know everything I can.”
Her eyes narrowed for a brief moment. Silence. But then she nodded too. “I’m so glad you’re actually going to do it. I didn’t think you would!”
“Neither did I.” I looked out the window, and watched people pass by on the street. Looked like it was starting to get busy. I should run off soon. “But Riche’e convinced me to do it, in a weird way. It will be fun.”
“Speaking of him,” she leaned back, “I didn’t get a chance to see or speak to you at all last night. I did catch a little glimpse, however…” She very slowly and all-too-controlled raised an eyebrow. Oh, that’s what the expectant look was about. “You two were very close.”
I threw my hands up and waved them in front of me. “We were—we were only—” I couldn’t think of any excuse, but neither was I sure that I should tell the actual story. “We were… Nothing happened. I only went with him... like that. It was nothing, really.”
“Alryxe.” Her grin was ear to ear. It was that same rare event smile from just a minute ago. “But if anything does happen, more going out, I want to hear! It’s good to meet people.” She leaned in again, green eyes sparkling. “Anything. Especially him. He is a—”
“I am not going to eat this.” My words ran together as I pushed my bread roll at her. I’m not sure I actually said a couple of the words, but I didn’t care. I jumped up with my fruit. “I should go. I do not want to be late!”
I scuttled across the kitchen to grab my tablet, turn off the still playing news program, and hopped for the door.
“Have a good day,” she sang. “Good luck at Zega!” I was out before that was even finished.
I’m not sure why the conversation she wanted to have made me flee. Maybe it was I was so used to being closed off. Maybe it was the fact that I still couldn’t figure out Richie’s true opinion of me. (Am I an idiot and helpless novelty or an actual person?) Maybe it was the fact that it felt suddenly too domestic. It was too much a normal thing, potentially talking with my new mother about going out and… things… happening.
We could talk about that stuff later. After I get kicked out of this competition. I’ll be normal and domestic and good then. Maybe she’ll teach me space recipes.
The roads were just as crowded today as they were yesterday. The market was out again, just as lively too. I wondered if this would keep up for the duration of the event, or if they’d peter out as the days went on.
I actually got to enjoy it this time around. I wandered back and forth, merchant stall to merchant stall. Some stalls were high tech boxes, some were tents, some were tables, and some were a combination. I enjoyed the music. I really liked the high-pitched throat singing and metal drums. It was a weird mix. It was a melody and beat that was really hard not to move to.
The stand that interested me most, however, was the kjanxe’s. She was there again, without the qi'qop at her side. I just wanted to see her close-up.
I maybe looked a little too conspicuously casual as I sauntered up to her tented table. She gave me a head-tilt that suggested she thought I thought I was going to get away with stealing something. I kept my eyes on the bunches of fabric—scarves?—and twisted bits of metal that seemed like really intricate and potentially painful earrings, only peeking up when she started talking to a couple of other potential patrons.
I didn’t want to overtly stare. Because that was rude. And I didn’t know how she might react.
She was hairy. Not all over, but she had fine hair all along her jaw, and sideburns. Her eyebrows were thick and went all the way to her hair, widening as they went along. Her ears were pointed and folded. Well, twisted may be the better word. And she had a short tail that looked like it might have been cropped, striped black and copper like her hair.
How did a tail work with pants? Were they special made or did she have to just—
“Do you see anything you are interested in?” She turned to me, giving me a smile that did not go to her eyes. “Or are you just looking?” The shrill emphasis on that last word made it obvious she knew exactly what I had been doing.
“Oh, I—” Crap, I had been caught and now I had to pretend I was actually interested in something. I looked back at the bits of jewelry. I cleared my throat. “Actually, how does this work?” I pointed at a coiled ear piece. It probably worked just like I was imaging. It looked like it was supposed to be twisted through the ear like an intense helix piercing.
“Jiaal! It’s Jiaal, right?” Instant relief came from up the market. Panda was standing at the last stall waving at me with wide gestures.
I excused myself and ran to her. “Good morning!” I was never so happy to see someone I’d met only once before.
“Where are your boys?” She looked around, as if they obviously should have been tailing me.
“In the tower,” I guessed and shrugged. “I know Micje is up there. Riche’e should be soon, if he is not now. Where is Kama? And your other partner? Were they at the gathering last night?”
“I didn’t see him,” she shook her head. “Not that it matters. Kama just informed me that he had already been dismissed by then, poor kid.”
Oh, so it was possible to be dismissed on the first day. I’m not sure why, but my hairs raised and I looked around, searching for those invisible cameras Micje so helpfully told me about. I couldn’t find any. But they must have been there.
“What did he do?”
She gave an over-wide shrug, then hooked our arms, pulling us toward the tower. “It doesn’t matter now. Kama and I are doing this alone. But I have an idea. She’s up in the eatery. Let’s find your boys.”
“What is your idea?” I happily followed along. I was sure they would be there as well. It was the most obvious place to meet. I was kicking myself that we hadn’t actually set up a ‘let’s meet here at this time.’ Why? Why did we miss that?
“I want to explain it with your boys. Are they in the eatery?”
“You like calling them ‘my boys.’”
“I can’t remember the tall one’s name.” Her eyebrows went down and her face twisted. “That would be a good team name, though. Jiaal and the Boys.”
I laughed. “I agree. But his name is Riche’e Talon.”
“Riche’e Talon,” she repeated. “Where are you from? I assume you have two names, too?”
Oh, you don’t know the half of it, I thought. “I am from here.” It was about time I put on the act that I was a normal human like Tawyn said I should. “My second name is Foxise.”
Why couldn’t I just go by my real name? I’m Savanna Morgan. Although, that name going through my head at that point actually felt wrong.
“Last night, you made it sound like you were from some strange planet. Animal pandas are on Zi’inra? I’ve never heard of these.”
“I—no…” I coughed, trying to come up with some lie. “I was not in my mind last night. I was saying weird things.”
She smirked and looked at me through the corner of her eye. “Ah, you were drunk. I should've seen that ”
“Yes. You should ignore whatever I said.” Okay, Riche’e, you can pop out of nowhere to save me and change the subject again and any time now.
We rounded the tower, headed toward an elevator that went to the floor just below the cafeteria. That level was strange. There was no lift to the actual cafeteria, but the floor below. Stairways led up, and then there were lifts to the rest of the tower.
The wait for the elevator wasn’t long. Almost as soon as we got to it, the doors open and humans and qi’qop spilled out. We and another small crowd quickly moved in to replace it.
“You will wait.”
One qi’qop was still in the elevator, arms stretched out to block any incomers.
I knew that voice. My heart skipped a beat then beat faster.
“Jiaal,” she said, looking down on me, and only me, unblinking. I felt Panda’s arm snake away as she took a few steps back.
“Liqeor,” I swallowed. I held onto my tablet with both hands now, hoping that hid the fact I was trembling under her gaze. I really didn’t want her to see that.
She took a step back into the elevator, and gestured for me to step in with her. I did. I took slow, deliberate steps, breathing deep to calm myself.
“You will wait,” she said to the crowd again, and pressed a couple of buttons. I saw Panda purse her lips and her eyebrows go up as the doors closed on her.
I took another deep breath.
After a moment, Liqeor pressed another button, stopping the elevator.
Liqeor was one of the qi’qop who did most of the caring, or rather handling, for me at the Orphanage. At first, it was Eddie, but he was too nice. Eddie would sometimes speak to me in English. Liqeor replaced him as my handler about halfway through my stay.
Gone were the days of arguments and reasoning and in were days of food deprivation, yelling, and insults until I had a basic grasp of the Copan language.
“Why are you here?” She turned stiffly to me, clasping her four-digit hands together in front of herself. Her hands were at her stomach, but her arms were so long that her elbows went nearly all the way across the lift.
I couldn’t hold her stare. My eyes went to my feet. “I am here because I am joining Zega.”
“Are you really?” Her deep voice went up and down in an unmistakable tone of incredulity. Her small ears flapped, then both of them went forward. That was aggression... or confidence. I wasn’t an expert. “A slow kuma? You cannot even look at me.”
My heart was pounding, so hard I was sure that she could hear it even with her head a foot and a half above mine. But I bit my lip and looked up. “So? That changes nothing.”
She snorted.
“I am joining Zega,” I said again, a little more confidence in my voice.
She snorted again. “Rudkjurt can’t join Zega.”
“I can.” The confidence was unconvincing. Definitely to me, but I knew she wasn’t buying it either.
“Rudkjurt don’t join Zega.”
“I will.”
Her ears flapped again.
“I want to try, at least! You cannot force me into this life and expect that I do not want to do something with myself.”
She snorted a third time and turned away, punching a button. The elevator softly jolted. “You are not going anywhere. Enjoy your day.”
It was silence after that. We went as far up as the elevator goes, where Panda and I were wanting to go. Liqeor stepped off before me.
I waited until she walked left or right, then walked out in the opposite direction.
What was the point of that? Why did she have to do that? Was she waiting for me? What was her goal?
I hate qicuqop.
I rushed for the cafeteria, up the stairs. The breeze running through the mid-tower walkway was welcome, and just a little bit of an immediate calm. It was nice, paired with the view of the forking river. But it wasn’t enough to calm all the nerves from just thinking about Liqeor.
Riche’e and Micje were at a table near the door, sitting across from each other, both leaning over a paper-sleeve sheet with eyes glued. They were murmuring to each other. I took the seat next Micje and looked over his shoulder.
“What is so interesting?” I looked at the sheet. It was just a wall of text. I don't know what I was expecting.
“Finally,” Riche’e looked up. He pushed the sheet toward me. “We received our assignment.”
Micje turned toward me, but he kept his eyes on the text. “Did they give us this scenario because of you?”
“Oh…?” I didn't like the sound of that. “Eh… Let us see.”
I tapped the text on the sheet and told it to read aloud. They both gave me a weird look, but let it happen.
“The Administration has decided to look into the Copan Orphanage,” a calm, barely computerized voice started. “We want to know where their rudkjurt, their so-called orphans, come from, as the pattern of appearances have caught our attention.”
I couldn't believe this, but I was actually getting tired of hearing about rudkjurt.
The voice continued: “Your team has been selected for the task at hand. By the end of the week, you are to have contacted the qicuqop in charge of the operation, questioned the relevant individuals, and be decided on whether or not a continuation of the investigation is needed. Academy Head Mikjer Dlokku and agent Liqeor Qaja will play the parts of the Orphanage administrators you are to contact.”
My head hit the table. I whined. “Why her? Anyone but her.” This is bullshit!
“You know the agent?” Micje lowered his head in an attempt to make eye contact.
“Yes.” I wrapped my arms around my head so he couldn't. “And I do not want to talk about it.”
So that's why she was there. She was literally there for me.
“Sit up,” Riche'e said after a moment. I did. “I'm not sure how much contact we'll actually have with either of them. This is a real investigation. This is what I talking about yesterday.”
I put my head in a hand, but looked at the sheet as if I could read those stupid glyphs. Copan writing didn't really have paragraphs. The wall of text was one sentence per line. Occasionally there'd be a break between lines, but I didn't know why.
“Why does that mean we might not have a lot of contact?” I looked up at him.
He scrolled through the text. “Along with the scenario, we were sent all the packets from the real investigation. It's actually—”
“There you are!” Panda came running into the cafeteria, sights set on me. She slid into the seat across from me. She actually pushed Riche'e aside a little bit. “What was that about? What did she want?”
“Who?” Both Riche'e and Micje went at the same time.
I swallowed, ignored them. “She and I have a history. I guess you can say she was... a mentor. She was testing my resolve.” I smiled, feeling that was vague yet satisfying enough.
“Shu’shused,” she sighed. “I thought you were being dismissed. That would've been disappointing. You're kind of odd and I want you to last at least the full week.”
“Thank… Thank you?” I didn't quite know how to respond to that.
“Who are you talking about?” Micje prodded.
“A really sharp qi’qop,” Panda answered. “She kicked everyone out of the lift to have a private conversation with Jiaal. She looked kind of harsh.”
“She is harsh,” I quietly added. But that's enough of that. “Where is Kama? You had an idea?”
“Yes! She should be here…” Panda stood and looked around. She spotted Kama across the cafeteria, whistled, and waved.
Kama was quick to make her way through the tables to ours. It was getting crowded.
Panda was grinning when she sat down again. “Arlyxe, Kama and I discussed this at length this morning. We suggest working together on our assignments.”
“Is that allowed?” I went through my brain trying to remember if Pilot mentioned something about that at the orientation.
“It's not not allowed,” Riche'e said.
“Exactly,” Panda nodded. “It's not stated anywhere that we can't. And I think it will help us in…”
A loud whirring came from the cuff on Riche'e’s wrist, drowning Panda out. Then it came from Micje’s. Then my tablet. The shrill screaming sound spread to every device in the hall.
There was a distant whistling, somehow audible over this alarm. There was a boom.
The building shook.

S01E12 “Double Vision”

Tom McCamus plays a main role in season 1
This is one of my favourite episodes for many reasons. For one, it’s mostly about Emma, who has the most interesting powers. I also love it when one actor plays several characters and the hero turned villain for one episode trope is always fun.
Brennan takes Emma to meet one of his old friends, Maddie Conlan (Joanne Vannicola) who has lured them into a GSA trap. Maddie has some kind of energy power and when her energy ball hits Brennan’s electric bolt, it sends out a shock wave that knocks everyone to the ground. It affects Emma more than anyone, as she is now two people. And there’s nothing scientific about that. Cloning doesn’t work that way.
Brennan takes one of the Emmas back to Sanctuary. And for the first time in quite a few episodes, she’s wearing the Lab Underwear. The shorts, at least. Maybe Adam had to admit that they were way too revealing for medical examinations, and let her wear a sleeveless top. Adam says her molecular structure has somehow been altered, but he’s not sure how. A molecular structure change is more likely to affect outward appearance than a genetic change. But then all sorts of genetic alterations happen on this show and they don’t seem to be visible in most cases. Emma is very anxious about being scanned. She doesn’t seem to have lost her memory as she still knows who everyone is, so surely she must remember that the machine is safe. But then anxiety doesn’t really care for past experience, it can appear at any time, without warning or sense.
Brennan is confused about Maddie. He didn’t expect her to double cross him like that, and he had never known her to have New Mutant powers either. Adam says it is hard to believe they could have evolved in a short period of time. That suggests that Adam maybe thinks there are “natural” New Mutants that appear in nature by chance mutation, and have been nowhere near Genomex. It’s not hard to believe as there have always been reports throughout history of people being able to do things with their minds and bodies that seem impossible to most of us. But I don’t think we see anything like that on the show.
The other Emma is at Genomex, being examined by scientists. Mason talks to Maddie about her health. She is suffering from headaches, which is an interesting thing to note. Most New Mutants we have seen so far have suffered no physical ill effects from their powers. It is only natural that using powers would use enormous amounts of energy and start to take a toll on one’s health. From the conversation it seems that Dr Harrison has been doing operations on her to give her powers. What sort of operations? No elaboration is done on that subject. I would have thought most genetic manipulation would be done through injections and infusions. Physical operations seem rather drastic and unnecessary. But this is the same Dr Harrison who is a botanist. And couldn’t run his own company. I don’t know about you but I’d prefer to have a doctor specialising in human surgery operating on me. Just because you have the title Doctor doesn’t make you an expert in all fields of science (or any, in some cases).
Brennan goes to a bar and awesome TV indie band Vibrolux is playing (I would love a copy of their Greatest Hits if anyone knows where I can get one). He asks barman Axel (Kedar Brown) about Maddie and he eventually tells him where he thinks she might be.
Dr Harrison is about to inject the GSA’s Emma with something but she grabs his wrist. Mason refers to him as a Biogeneticist, a term that doesn’t specifically relate to humans or plants. From now on, he’s dealing with humans. And working for a Genomex. Who knows what happened to his company? It’s never mentioned again. Emma attacks the GS Agents and attempts to escape, but she is surrounded and tells Mason that she wants to work for him.
Shalimar and Jesse have the most euphoric fight ever. I mean it’s great to have fun while training but they seriously look like they’re on some kind of crazy drug. But Anxious Emma soon puts a stop to that, and insists they wear martial arts helmets and gloves. Where did she even get those? Obviously she’s being over the top here. Training with protective gear is all well and good, but not really helpful when you’re out in the real world having actual fights. Which they do, a lot.
Mason is unsurprisingly dubious about Reckless Emma’s defection from Mutant X and believes this is some kind of scam. It’s interesting to hear her talk about being almost kept prisoner by do-gooders. It’s a point no-one has really made before. All of them had to leave their lives, including any family, friends and jobs behind for the cause. And how on earth did they explain to others why they suddenly decided to go to live with someone who they would only be able to describe as an eccentric millionaire? I have decided to refer to the Emmas as Anxious Emma and Reckless Emma instead of good and evil, because that’s the way I perceive them. A completely different story could have played out if Brennan had picked up the other Emma. Anxious Emma may have worked for the GSA anyway, out of fear. Reckless Emma may have encouraged the Mutant X team to get into more hot water than usual. As I write so much about this show anyway, I may well write that fanfic.
Dr Harrison reports that he has lost Maddie. Mason doesn’t seem bothered. It’s surprising how many screw ups Dr Harrison gets away with. Others get put in stasis for far fewer. Reckless Emma volunteers to go and find her. I like her annoyed “it was a feeling, I’ll know when I get there” as it must be very frustrating trying to explain a power like hers to others who can’t possibly understand.
Adam questions Anxious Emma but she insists she is fine, even though she was having disjointed visions that seem frightening.
Brennan returns to the bar and all I can say is I hope there are still bars like this in Canada that play nothing but music by obscure upbeat psychedelic Canadian bands. I remember Vibrolux being on other TV shows at the time, but I had to research the song from this scene, and it is by Rocket Science. There is a much more famous Australian band by the same name which makes research difficult. But there is something very satisfying about tracking down obscure things.
After physically threatening the barman, Brennan is told that Maddie is hiding out in the back of the bar. Maddie makes a comment that suggests that she may have been a natural telekinetic before the experiments on her. Chance mutation or previous treatment at Genomex? We never hear about people who were treated at Genomex and didn’t end up being New Mutants with noticeable powers, but that could be because they aren’t a threat to society or vulnerable, or maybe they are just not interesting.
Reckless Emma shows up and attacks Brennan and the GS Agents accompanying her grab Maddie. Brennan gives chase and is followed by Anxious Emma. He sees both of them and they see each other.
The Mutant X team puzzle over the two Emmas. Shalimar has the best idea - maybe Emma has been cloned (If you haven’t seen it already I can’t recommend Orphan Black enough. Clones galore. Also Tom McCamus and Andrew Gillies.) But Adam is ready with some bogus science. Apparently Brennan’s and Maddie’s powers combined to cut through cellular material to a genetic level. Which would honestly probably just kill everyone in the room. An unpredictable force like that would likely rip DNA to shreds, and I’m not sure if anyone has tried that, but it would mean untold devastation to a living thing if it affected all of its cells. Not magic twins. But magic twins are admittedly much more interesting from a plot perspective.
Adam explains further and says that he thinks the force separated Emma’s DNA double helixes strands from each other (I’m pointing out the great correct usage of strand here!) then reformed as two separate entities. Now there is a way for DNA strands to separate, the enzyme helicase does this to allow DNA replication which happens before cell division. But this is at a cellular level, definitely not at an organism level. I’m afraid to say the real life consequences would likely be something akin to cancer. You wouldn’t suddenly have two - identical but not quite - copies of the person. But, suspending disbelief, errors occur during replication, so it is likely that you wouldn’t get two exactly identical copies, slight differences are to be expected. Adam says that it is likely to be fatal if they can’t join the two of them together again. Personally I would imagine jamming the DNA of two people to make them into one would be more harmful. Their DNA has somehow recombined, so I would suggest leaving them alone, no matter how inconvenient it is to have two Emmas.
Anxious Emma denies that this is true. She insists that she is the real Emma. There is a significant question of ethics in this episode. Two new people have been created, accident or not. Is it really right to effectively destroy the two of them to get the original back?
Reckless Emma tells Mason that Adam now knows about her defection. She doesn’t mention the other Emma to him, but instead contacts her herself. It seems the comm-link rings were duplicated also (and her clothes, luckily for her). Inanimate objects do not have DNA so I can’t think of any explanation that could be given here. Reckless Emma plans to tamper with the stasis system at Genomex and kill everyone there.
Anxious Emma tells Adam straight away and while she is horrified by what the other Emma is suggesting, he plays devil’s advocate.
Reckless Emma orders a neat bourbon. We later learn that Emma isn’t a drinker, but her reckless side doesn’t care about that. She uses her powers to manipulate the barman into letting her have it for free. We know she has used her powers for personal gain in the past, but presumably since she joined Mutant X she has only used them to further their goals. Adam meets with her, and his negotiating skills leave much to be desired. Some of what he says makes no sense. He says that they are two halves of a whole, but then says they are the same. They can’t be both. She makes him believe he is blind and runs off. How did he not see that coming? (I’ll get my coat.)
Adam works on a method to get the two Emmas back together and sends Shalimar and Jesse to get Reckless Emma out of Genomex.
Reckless Emma wins the award for most comedic use if telempathy and sends Dr Harrison running to the bathroom so she can rescue Maddie. Mason shows up and questions her, but of course he knows what is coming so he tells her not to use her telempathy on him (why wasn’t she fitted with a sub dermal governor as usual? I guess everyone is absent minded this week). So she punches him. I guess you could say he walked into that one (the doorman has now brought my coat to me).
Anxious Emma frets about the other her, and Shalimar and Jesse’s safety, and everything. Lauren Lee Smith does a really fantastic job of portraying someone with anxiety. It’s not something that is seen on TV much. We get to see throughout the show how this side of Emma worries about everything, how she is physically affected by the anxiety, and how the attempts of others to calm her down do little to reassure her. The reckless side of her, while kinda fun, is just a generic badass, a character we’ve seen over and over. She is so distrustful of her team that she locks them in the lab to stop them putting her back together with her other self. It’s interesting to see that both sides of her despise the other. And that can be something we all experience. Perhaps we hate ourselves for being too scared to do something, or for doing something reckless.
Emma has a rather technical plan. Somehow she knows where the regulator for the stasis pods is located and how easy it is to disable. And somehow she knows that by disabling it, the temperature of the whole place will drop to deadly levels within five minutes. Now stasis is not a current technology, as we’ve covered before. But I would hope that the system was more robust than that, with failsafes in place to prevent disasters like this from occurring. And also the refrigeration is designed to stay inside the pods. If this was manipulated to fill the whole facility, that cooling power would be spread over a much larger area, so the likelihood would be that the staff would complain and put their coats on. Or the thing would explode and kill everyone.
Luckily Adam somehow knows the exact amount of volts Brennan needs to hit the door with to let them out. I guess it would be too easy to open the door from the inside.
Maddie hits the stasis regulator, and instead of taking five minutes (which now seems relatively reasonable) everyone immediately passes out.
Jesse has a strange reading that covers the entire wavelength spectrum. I don’t think that’s very scientific, but Adam knows straight away what has happened and tells Jesse what to do. It works and everyone wakes up. Mason calls a meeting with the heads of department, which I would say is probably the least efficient way of dealing with an emergency.
Shalimar and Jesse are involved in a needlessly violent bar brawl, all to find some information. Another point where negotiation skills might have come in handy. When Reckless Emma refuses to go with them, Shalimar punches her. Concussions all round this week!
The two Emmas must wear the new less-revealing lab underwear in order to be magically put back together. Adam tells Brennan and Maddie to once again combine their powers in order to help get them back together. Now considering what happened last time, this doesn’t seem like a great idea. Perhaps last time Brennan and Maddie were immune to the DNA cleaving effects of their own combined powers, but this time the rest of the team is in the room. But of course it works perfectly, and they are left with the original, rather confused Emma. But will they ever really know if she went back together exactly in the way she was before?
Dr Harrison and Mason discuss their future plans for research. Mason mentions that a Maddie was not a New Mutant to begin with, so that means that there are people in this world that have certain powers that they are born with. Dr Harrison wants some expendable research subjects, and Mason glances at him significantly, implying that he should experiment on himself.
Maddie gets a new start. Adam reassures Emma and does a nice speech about everyone being composed of opposing traits, nobody is completely one thing or another. Which I think is a big theme that runs through the whole of Mutant X. It is full of complex characters and situations that have no easy answers.

I don’t normally do this but I’ve been reading a lot of really awesome webcomics and I wanted to tell y’all about them and stuff because damn I found some real gems this past month. I also need people to scream about them with so heres my list in no particular order under the cut! (the comics are hosted on either smackjeeves or tapastic or both)
Lazy Snow Leopard
An utterly lazy god, an anthropomorphic personification of the Snow Leopard, rests upon his favourite tree, when suddenly woken up by a thrown stone. The thrower turns out to be a young admirer of his former self. The youngster persuades the lazy god to begin a quest for fame, glory and world salvation. While the one concerned would have preferred to just lie down and go back to sleep.
Notes: This one has me dying of laughter, I love everything about it; the art, characters, just all of the yes
Helix
A street rat is given a second chance when he is dragged from the gutter and into a new life. Will he accept his position at the side of royalty, or fight every step of the way?

Notes: The art and story is absolutely mesmerizing, I couldn’t stop thinking about this one after reading it for a long while. Can’t wait for more updates!
Novae
Novae is a historical romance with a touch of the paranormal and a dash of astronomy. It chronicles the adventures of Sulvain, a sweet tempered necromancer and Raziol, a passionate 17th century astronomer. A connection forms between them and their relationship blooms, but when the body of a fellow astronomer is found on the steps of the Academy of Sciences, their lives are entangled in ways they could never foresee.
Notes: There are not a lot of pages so far but I’m already in this for the long run. I’m a sucker for historical romances, especially gay ones and this is just beautifully executed.
Boned
A story about being nice to birds and having safe gay sex.
Notes: The description pretty much sums it up xD. Such a good read and really intriguing characters, I enjoyed this a lot. (NSFW)
Mismatch
Mismatch tells of the bond between two rivals who slowly discover they have more in common than they think.
Notes: Only 5 pages in and I was immediately hooked. The art style is so cute and I absolutely love the premise! I can’t wait for more!
Grey Eyes
Mike Lawson finds himself on the strange world of Dwal.
But now the ancient Gate won't let him back through. Mike must try to find his place in this strange new world, and perhaps find it to be better than the world he came from.
A fantasy/romance with a touch of mystery. 18+ for adult language and situations.
Notes: The character designs and the art are so cool, hell everything about this is freaking cool and I need more!
Almost Touching
Wyatt's got a huge secret and Aiden is a nosy bitch who becomes intertwined in it. Though he doesn't seem to mind much... boyxboy
Notes: I got sucked in by the pretty art style and stuck around for the interesting story and lovely characters. (NSFW)
Avialae
Avialae is a webcomic about a gross bird boy and his nerdy wannabe ornithologist boyfriend--I mean neighbor who helps him out during the painful and bloody process of growing wings.
Notes: I just absolutely adore this one, it has really interesting characters, a unique premise, and just...birds man. (NSFW)
Rainbow Mansion
Watch the drama unfold as 14 contestants come together at the Rainbow Mansion in hopes of becoming the Rainbow Champion! Hearts will break, the tension will sizzle, and only one will have a chance at eternal glory. Or, like, at least a quip in the tabloids and a book deal? (M/M)
Notes: This is one of the best and most hilarious fucking comics I’ve read in a long time. I love the way it’s set up (a cheesy bad reality tv show) and the characters (all of them) are fucking fantastic not to mention the art is on point. (NSFW)
Handcuffs
Yrkki sold drugs to a stranger guy. That wouldn't be nothing new for him, but this guy was a cop.
Notes: Beautiful art, beautiful men, and a story that keeps you on your toes, whats not to love? (NSFW)
Demon House
Tula is a student just trying to get through her senior year of college. Little does she know that her new rental is inhabited by demons. Juggling her social life and these new roommates should be no problem.
Notes: This comic is a blessing. I absolutely love all the characters and the art is so well done, not to mention the hilarity that ensues. Definitely one of those must-reads!
Demon of the Underground
Pogo is a big-mouthed but small-framed young thief who falls through a hole in the ground and finds himself in a brutal underground world where survival is based on strength and intimidation. His only hope for escape is his telekinetic ability - and the help of a stray ferret named Annie.
Urban fantasy/paranormal/LGBTQ
Notes: I’ve been following this one for awhile. First off, the art is fantastic, and I’m in love with that in itself. Second the characters and story are so interesting and unique...I’m dying to know what happens next and discover more!
Aimatos
Boy meet boy and together search their origins
Notes: This story is so cute and the art is beautiful and I’m gonna cry I need more. (NSFW)
Thistlewine
Markus is a reclusive witch living in the woods. He stumbles across a surprise one morning that changes his entire life.
It's gay.
Notes: I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this comic. It’s so fucking cute, the characters are adorable, the art is adorable and well drawn, and every time it updates I get so freakin excited you have no idea ahhh just go read it!
No Way
NO WAY is a web comic, a story about fantasy world and Academy, where many creatures study together. But first and foremost this is a story about a vampire and an elf who were betrothed to each other and who now have to live and learn together. Yes, this is a story about the relationship between two guys, basically, although the other characters are there too. Also in the future in the comic are planned explicit scenes of a sexual nature, so there is a limit 18 + But, basically, it's still a romantic Comedy and fairy tale.
Notes: Everything about this, the characters and the art and the story are fucking phenomenal. It’s got some of my favorite character designs ever by far. Highly recommend this one, such a good read and a feast for the eyes!
The God in the Field
The age-old story of Hades, Persephone, and a love that causes the seasons (with a yaoi twist.)

Anyone familiar with greek mythology will know that they are in for a ride. This comic will contain kidnapping, a coercive relationship with unequal power dynamics, and various other scenes from the underworld that Hades presides over. It will contain NSFW scenes and scenes rated 18+. Please be forewarned!
Notes: One of the most friggin beautiful art styles I’ve come across in a long time. I actually caved in and bought hard copies of this one it was so beautiful. I love everything about this gosh I can’t even put it into words.
Les Normaux
Les Normaux follows the lives of a bunch of supernatural beings living in Paris after a human wizard named Sebastien moved to the city.
Notes: The premise and characters in this one are so unique and the art style is so cute. Actually everything in this is cute, and funny, and just a good time in general. Highly recommend this one.
Indigents
Dakota and Kennedy are thrown together in a world ravaged by a single disease. Fast spreading and corrupting sanity, civilization was razed to the ground. For those fortunate to have immunity, life isn't easy. Avoiding the diseased is one thing, but without law and order those left take complete advantage of a world they can now build for themselves. Stranded together in the ghost of the country they once knew, Dakota and Kennedy fight through whatever obstacles lay in their path, seeking peace and quiet and maybe something to eat.
Notes: I really like the way the story is going, not to mention the art is hella nice. Highly recommend this one, especially if you like apocalyptic themes and such.
Wham, Bam!
Harvey is nothing. He's a nobody. Trapped in a small Texas town where nothing ever changes, doomed to waste away in the scrub brush and withering sun, he figures the best he can do is keep his head down and stay out of everyone else's way. After all, who would be crazy enough care about a deadbeat redneck like him?
Then one day an old Dodge rumbles into the parking lot of the gas station where he works, and Harvey learns that some folks wear their crazy like it'll never go out of style.
It's amazing how much your life can change in just four days.
[WARNINGS: explicit content, strong language, depictions of violence, TW for homophobic attitudes/language (later on). 18+ only please.]
Notes: I am in love with this art and storyline. It’s so unique, I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like it. Not to mention that the title itself grabbed me in for the hook before anything else. I can’t wait to see more!
Moonflower
Sometimes, home can be a person.
A sheltered young mutant meets a soldier who's seen far too much for his short life. A process of learning and healing begins.
Notes: The art is so pretty, reminds me a lot of avatar the last airbender in terms of style. I’m super excited to see where this story goes as well, the characters are super interesting and really cute!
Hendrix and Julian
Hendrix and Julian are natural enemies- a cocky jock and the school's gay punching bag, but will all that change after one cold night alone in the gym cupboard? (NSFW)
Notes: I’m usually not a fan of the whole bullied falling for bully plot but I really really love how this story goes. Not to mention the nsfw scenes are really good and the art is just yesssss. I highly recommend this one!
Aspera
Nine young adults with different backgrounds all end up in the same area in Paris. What started off as another semester at art school takes a turn when the differences of the group's lives finally meet. A story of lgbt love, friendship and finding yourself.
Warning for blood, violence, sexual content and drug use in the upcoming chapters.
Notes: The art style is cute, the characters are cute, the comic feels super relatable and down to earth and I just really love the whole thing overall. I always get so excited when it updates!
Countdown to Countdown
Iris is a young man with the gift to bring pieces of artwork into reality. 5 years into an apocalyptic outbreak, he's holed up in a lab that shelters "problem" children. Between his failed experiments, deteriorating mental stability, and being ridiculed by other members of the lab, he doesn't think life could get any worse. Life agrees to disagree.
Notes: This comic is so friggin beautiful. The story is hella interesting and the setup is like that of a video game which I think is really super creative and interesting to experience. The characters and the world they are in are really fun and interesting and just overall this is a really well done comic, I’m always excited for when it updates!
Heartstopper
Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more...?
Notes: The title of this comic is the most accurate thing. This comic has my heart stopping because of how dang cute this is. Seriously, there are parts of this that have me screaming on the floor. The art style is so cute and airy and totally fits the mood of this comic and the characters are so adorkable and just...aughhh go read it seriously!
With Great Abandon
With Great Abandon is a queer romance set over the course of a year in London. It's the story of Harry and Russell's differences, similarities, and relationship. A hopeful and kind story. Also food and comics.
Notes: This comic made me cry (good tears). The story is so down to earth and realistic, not to mention so cute. Also the art and colors are just on point and I really appreciate this comic aesthetically. It just completed and I was very satisfied, you should definitely give it a read!
Age of the Grey
When the unseen war between heaven and hell finds itself bound to the plane of humans, several kids discover themselves caught in the middle.
The almighty angels of heaven and the wicked demons of hell battle for their kingdoms, a revolution that could mean the end of humanity, and when god and the devil decide to take it into their own hands, only chaos can follow.
Notes: This is such a cool concept executed with such bold and expressive art. I love love love the characters and its so cool to see how the art continues to improve over the course of the story! Definitely recommend this!
Behind these Birchwood Walls
Adrian Pembroke's parents put their foot down after his teenaged mischief turns into a run in with the cops. He finds himself shipped off to Mercier Preparatory Academy, an elite boarding school.
Miserable and feeling utterly out of place, Adrian soon lands himself into trouble as usual. He is rescued from his own antics by Acario Ambrose, the resident golden boy of Mercier.
Appearances are deceiving, and Adrian learns a great deal more about both himself and his new friend than he ever bargained for.
Notes: I love this so much, it started out a bit slow but as soon as the story got going i was on the edge begging for updates. The art is amazing, I have no idea how this artist is able to be so consistent with their painting style throughout, its amazing!
Ingress Adventuring Company
Saving the world is a pretty big deal, but what do you do once you’re done saving the world and no one needs you anymore? Do you become a magic professor? Do you study a convoluted thesis that no one understands? Maybe you relive the glory days by starting up a one-man adventuring party to gather mystical artifacts for people who may or may not pay you.
Or, if you’re Toivo Kissa, you do all of those things.
Notes: I fell in love with the premise and art at first sight. It’s absolutely adorable and the main character is so precious I love him so much. I cannot wait to see where the shenanigans go.
Ambrosia
Alphor, a countryside apothecary, comes to the capital city for work, where he has a chance encounter with his estranged childhood friend, the wizard Selfrid. The same childhood friend who confessed his love for him ten years ago, before they separated.
They resume their friendship, as though there was no confession, but such feelings can't be forgotten that easily; they are torn between the bitterness of a crushed first love and the comfort of a friendship they don't want to ruin again.
Notes: This comic is so damn pretty i can’t handle it. I love the setting and all the little world elements added into this comic. Definitely a bit of a slow burn if you’re into that but oh man will it be satisfying if the main ship finally sails.
Sunkissed
When Stephen, a quiet bookworm from Oregon, gets his admission letter from the University of Hawaii at Manoa he was anticipating some life changes. What he didn’t anticipate was meeting Alex, an upbeat and easygoing local who offers to be his guide around the island. After that, it’s love at first sight. Through ups and downs, they’ll bring out the best in each other in this story of love, growth, and self-acceptance.
Notes: If you want a sweet heartwarming story about 2 cinnamon buns falling in love with each other then this is the comic for you! Seriously, every little tiny moment in this comic just makes me scream because its too cute.
Dissent
A cursed prince must rely on a witch to free him from an enchantment. But witchcraft is banned, and the two young men have little in common. As love blossoms between them, can they overcome their own prejudices, save their nation, and find a cure... before it's too late?
Notes: Everything about this comic i just love love love love. The story, the art, the characters, everything! It tugs at your heartstrings in ways you don’t even expect whilst dealing with a suspenseful situation. I’d gush forever about this one but I don’t have enough room.
Guard Dog
BL about people living in the post apocalyptic world where being infected by a zombie won't immediately turn you into one, but it can give you some troubles... and some extras
Notes: By the same creator as Handcuffs, which is also on this list, I knew when this came out I’d love it too. I was not wrong. Cute gay bois in the apocalypse, what more can you ask for? Definitely a must read!
The Sun Prince, the Saint, and the Changeling
When Tomas stumbles into unexpected feelings for his friend Matthias, he dreams about a fun, uncomplicated summer romance. Instead, he discovers that he doesn’t know his friend nearly as well as he thought he did, he knows himself even less, and when your family has connections to the Holy Roman Empire, nothing is ever simple. When summer comes, Tomas finds himself drawn into a mystery spanning two years and three hearts — one of which is his own.
Notes: This is one of my all time favorite comics. I am a sucker for lgbt historical romances and everything about this comic from the story, to the art, to the world building is just so beautifully done. Cannot gush enough about this one to do it justice, just read it.
Abel & a Dead Man
Jim lives an ordinary life until the day he's supposed to die. Abel is a Soul Collector who decides to let Jim live and asks him out instead.
Notes: Such a unique graphic art style combined with one of my favorite grim reaper x supposed to be dead person premises, I highly highly recommend checking this out.
Life Outside the Circle
The heartwarming tale of two men who find love in the Finnish countryside.
Notes: This comic is way too cute I cannot handle how cute it is everything about it just makes me scream because ahhhh it so CUTE!!! Just read it and you’ll understand what I mean.

April 23 – May 7
SUPERGIRL
Season 2: Episode 18 – Ace Reporter
Lena’s ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer, comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack’s conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper in attendance she’s inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger.
So, who else had a hard time seeing Jack Spheer as anyone except for Ravi from IZombie? The actor did well at playing a character we were uncertain of. His confidence and suave behavior with Lena, suggested that he may have been the villain. But in episodes such as this, we all know there is a twist involved. Apart from the cameo from our favourite ME from IZombie, this episode was one of Kara getting her old job back, and the audience learning that there is always more than meets the eyes of a perfect miracle cure. It makes you wonder what kinds of things are being hidden in other medical breakthroughs. Though I doubt that we need to worry too much about nano-bots. And we have some foreshadowing at the end of the episode that makes us eager for next week’s episode.
Season 2: Episode 19 – Alex
Alex is kidnapped and the kidnapper threatens to kill her unless Supergirl releases a notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie have always had different approaches to apprehending criminals but this time they must work together to save Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea has an interesting proposal for Lena.
Was this really an episode of “who loves Alex more” situation? And then realizing they needed to work together in order to save Alex? Really that’s what happened in this episode in a nutshell. Alex getting kidnapped was interesting, but we all knew she would survive. We knew that Kara going off to save her was going to backfire and that Maggie was going to be right. And then Maggie doing something reckless was going to blow up in her face. This was a very predictable episode. I wish they had spent more time developing the story between Lena and Rhea. It looked like foreshadowing, but it would have been interesting to see a bit more development on that story line. Hopefully we see more of that next week.
NEXT WEEK
Season 2: Episode 20 – City of Lost Children
When an alien attacks National City, Supergirl and the DEO learn the alien is a Phorian, an otherwise peaceful race with telekinetic powers. Guardian gets a lead on the Phorian’s address but instead of finding the culprit, he finds a very scared boy named Marcus. Season 3: Episode 19 – The Once and Future Flash
Barry travels to the future to find out Savitar’s still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris. Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be the hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost continues.
It was really interesting to see 2024, and the different directions the team had gone in after Iris’ death. This episode was pretty much filler, but it was a good filler episode, so we can forgive the story for that. Barry takes all that time and effort to go into the future, just to discover that Killer Frost is going to team up with Savitar and that even in the future, Barry did not know who he was. But it was interesting to see the future characters, and we got a lead on another person who could help trap Savitar in the speed force. The one issue with this episode was Barry’s staying in the future to set things right with the team. It made no sense that he did this. If he was going to go back and save Iris, thus defeating that timeline, why bother setting things right anyways? The reason why the team broke up and everyone went to do their own depressing things, was because Barry failed in saving Iris, and so, if he alters the timeline, none of these events would have happened. It could be argued that what if Barry doesn’t save Iris, now he actually saved the future timeline, but it felt like a filler episode.
Season 3: Episode 20 – I Know Who You Are
Barry and the team meet Tracy Brand, a scientist, who may be the key to stopping Savitar. Unfortunately, Killer Frost is also after Tracy so Team Flash must battle their old friend, which proves to be particularly difficult for Cisco. Joe and Cecile’s relationship takes a big turn.
Really? That’s who Savitar is? We have had hints all season long but … really? The twisted part of the story with Tracy Brand was interesting. They had the name of the person who could help them… only she hasn’t discovered how to help them. H.R.’s rapport with her was certainly a bit of comic relief. It was good to have that because we had to watch the heart breaking moments of Cisco trying and failing to fight his best friend. How difficult could that be, fighting your best friend. You know that you have to do the right thing, but that could mean killing them? Our hearts go out to Cisco this week.

Barry takes drastic measures to stop Savitar. Meanwhile, H.R. continues to push Tracy Brand to design the trap for Savitar and Killer Frost returns with an interesting proposal.

Season 5: Episode 19 – Dangerous Liaisons
Oliver, Team Arrow, ARGUS and the SCPD kick off a citywide manhunt for Adrian Chase. Helix tells Felicity they have a way to find Chase but they will need something big, and illegal, from her in return.
Wow talk about crossing lines in this episode. There was actually a point in time when Team Arrow was about to face off against Felicity and Helix. And with the lengths that ARGUS was willing to go, it seems like nothing had changed wince Amanda Waller was head of the organization. This was a very action-packed episode, and had us all on the edge of our seats, and let us all wait for the aftermath of everyone’s decisions. It was difficult to see Felicity basically get told by Oliver that he could not forgive her for this… or Diggle saying the same thing to his wife. But it seems that Helix saved Felicity from her own darkness, seeing her too close to Team Arrow, and asking her to leave. This was probably the best thing that could happen to her. Talk about getting in over her head.
Season 5: Episode 20 – Underneath
Things get intense when Oliver and Felicity are trapped in the bunker together. Meanwhile, Lyla and Diggle deal with their marital issues.
It seems this episode was about trust issues. Lyla and Diggle were talking about trusting one another with their secrets and trusting that they can make the right decision when the time came. Felicity and Oliver’s being trapped in the bunker allowed them to sort out their issues both as a couple, and as partners on the team. It was heartbreaking to watch Oliver break down and tell Felicity about Chase’s torture and what he learned about himself. It also taught Felicity about who she wanted to be, or rather, who she did not want to be. We learn that Oliver does in fact trust her, and who knows, this could lead to Olicity again, or it could give both characters a chance to grow on their own. This would have been considered a filler episode, as everything was contained in one episode, and got wrapped up nicely at the end. But it was an entertaining one at that.
NEXT WEEK
Season 5: Episode 21 – Honor Thy Fathers
Oliver returns to the mayor’s office and faces one of his most pressing issues yet – the forced release of dozens of violent criminals prosecuted by Adrian Chase. Meanwhile, a crate is delivered to Oliver’s office containing a mysterious corpse encased in concrete.

I love his Telekinetic Helix power but you know what would be even cooler? If his psychic powers had somewhat of a toll on him physically (I know his powers aren't fire, but for example leaving something like scorch marks on his skin that he covers by wearing his hoodie). I know his ability extends to his hands too, but it would be interesting if he had a very limited time frame to use his powers without them harming him.

Season 2: Episode 18 – Ace Reporter
Lena’s ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer, comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack’s conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper in attendance she’s inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger.
So, who else had a hard time seeing Jack Spheer as anyone except for Ravi from IZombie? The actor did well at playing a character we were uncertain of. His confidence and suave behavior with Lena, suggested that he may have been the villain. But in episodes such as this, we all know there is a twist involved. Apart from the cameo from our favourite ME from IZombie, this episode was one of Kara getting her old job back, and the audience learning that there is always more than meets the eyes of a perfect miracle cure. It makes you wonder what kinds of things are being hidden in other medical breakthroughs. Though I doubt that we need to worry too much about nano-bots. And we have some foreshadowing at the end of the episode that makes us eager for next week’s episode.
Season 2: Episode 19 – Alex
Alex is kidnapped and the kidnapper threatens to kill her unless Supergirl releases a notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie have always had different approaches to apprehending criminals but this time they must work together to save Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea has an interesting proposal for Lena.
Was this really an episode of “who loves Alex more” situation? And then realizing they needed to work together in order to save Alex? Really that’s what happened in this episode in a nutshell. Alex getting kidnapped was interesting, but we all knew she would survive. We knew that Kara going off to save her was going to backfire and that Maggie was going to be right. And then Maggie doing something reckless was going to blow up in her face. This was a very predictable episode. I wish they had spent more time developing the story between Lena and Rhea. It looked like foreshadowing, but it would have been interesting to see a bit more development on that story line. Hopefully we see more of that next week.

Season 2: Episode 20 – City of Lost Children
When an alien attacks National City, Supergirl and the DEO learn the alien is a Phorian, an otherwise peaceful race with telekinetic powers. Guardian gets a lead on the Phorian’s address but instead of finding the culprit, he finds a very scared boy named Marcus. Marcus will only trust James so it is up to Guardian to stop the attacks on the city. Rhea’s plan escalates.
